HH: sorry we’re late, major life events happened.

Surprise! This week we are in my kitchen instead of my office! This week it is the new moon, and Alma leads us through calling a circle and creating a ritual. For this ritual we made anointing oils! Kiara makes one for Aphrodite and Alma makes one for her ancestors. We have officially finished the Liber Kthonia, because the last chapter is a list of associations. So, tonight we're drinking. It's kind of one of those like different formulas, same answer situation. I'm drinking a Disserano with root beer.

I'm drinking a whiskey with root beer and vanilla and club soda. But they taste the exact same. They taste the same. The first part of my drink with just the whiskey and the root beer kind of tasted like soap. You could only taste the whiskey, and then it had like a weird soda-you know, like there was the fizz of soda, but none of the flavor. Yeah. Hence soap. It became a sparkling whiskey. And not in a good way. So. Do you want to explain what we are doing while I close the door? Yes. Yes. Um, so in first circle, one of the things that we learn how to do is part of the I don't know, basic practice that you can take or leave as you like, is calling in the circle by calling in the elements, of which there are eight. Thank you. I was suddenly very unsure, but yes, there are eight, and they have to do with the directions on compass.

And just a reminder: the way the temple is set up is there are different levels of temple. Yep. Thank you. Uh, which is what the circles are. And it's the way it's kind of like grade school where it's like you got closed year, second year, third gear. It's not requiring to be part of the temple. It's not required to be a part of rituals or anything.

Um, so all the spirits in the temple have names. Um, but in first circle, you just start sort of get to know their personalities. Um, one of the things that I've done is uh started to integrate that into my personal practice. So I have my own representations of the elemental guardians, and I've set them up around the space we're in according to their position. Also, surprise, we're in my kitchen. We are the kitchen instead of the office. And that is because after that, drummer, please. We are going to make some oil, specifically anointing oil. And we'll walk you through it as we go. Yes, yes. We have all the things here, and we are going to do it live. Or not so live for people who listen to it after recording, but it is occurring at the same time as recording, therefore, live.

So you call the name of the elephant, some of its personality describers. You ask it to hold a boundary and to uh support the ritual's purpose, fill in the blank. You can fill in whatever you want. Uh I'm gonna get jiggy with it in the moment and see what happens.

And then after that, you do your ritual. Yes, and this loosely ties into Liber Cathonia because the next several chapters have to do with uh rituals and herbs and stones and their properties. We basically got through the contents of the book in terms of Bath topic, yes, sort of thing.

Um yeah, sure. We planned it. I totally didn't text you this morning and go, hey, I have a thought. Wait, that's until it happened. Is it yesterday morning? Was it this morning? It never happened. It never is advanced. This is planned in advance. It's okay. We had rather try experience with our test run.

Um it is sort of the representation of the fact that all magic comes from a similar place, even if all of the branches of the tree go in different directions. The temple has a foundational practice, even outside of the pantheonic worship. You'll hear it. It's pretty, it's pretty self-sprayforward. And you put your right hand in. So that like the hurdle. Okay, so as you go, you lift up and over, under, and back up. Yep, so here we go. We're gonna do it for real this time. All right, get the magic hand, all right. Energy going. Yeah, all right. The world tree surrounds us with rings of the past, seeds of what will be, and diverging branches intertwined, outstretched to the sky. Yeah. Welcome to circle. Technically, that happens later. Yeah. Uh, I'm going to be doing a variation of the Greek version that they do at the temple. Um, it's a little bit simpler because it's the one that I do in my home. Uh, so we've got water here. These were just too pretty. Well, I was gonna put them away from Duda innovation. That's true. Oh, okay. You were saying, where are my cards? Got it, got it. Sorry, I didn't read you quite as well that time.

Yes. So it is the one that I do in my personal practice, so it is a little bit uh modified and simplified. Um, the basic premise of a Greek holy water, uh, which is just a cleansing agent to sort of get you on the same level. Spiritual cleansing. Yes, not a physical cleansing. Though technically you could, in the traditional sense, you would probably take a bath in it.

In Greek historically, it was used as a like hay washer hands before you enter the temple. Uh, but we live in a fairly hygienic modern era, so it's more symbolic and spiritual.

It also helps with uh miasma, which is the Greek term, which is basically just uh you've done a thing, and so now there is energy from the thing. It's humanness.

Yes. I sort of describe it as uh notes and a perfume. You can have a lot of good smelling notes, but even if you but if you don't like cleanse between them, they just muddle together and it smells really gross. So uh the basic thing for Greek holy water is that it combines the basic elements of what was considered the building blocks of life. So that is water. Uh we've also got salt of the earth, and then we've got a bay leaf, which is air, um, because you light it on fire and then extinguish it in water. Yes. Um, it is also technically life in the fact that it is a green growing thing that comes from the earth. So it's a little bit of a combo. Uh so today, because this is uh ironically what I use when I'm at home, but it is also the only salt we had easily available at the time was some uh pink Malayan salt.

So we have not gotten actual salt in the house yet. That is it from one of those like little like grinder grinder things, and I don't think you guys will want to hear in your ear, is even though you just did it.

Yeah, but I did it prettier. Okay. Sure, babe. We'll go with that. But it is actually ironically what I use in my personal crackers at home. Uh I just like a little bit of the self-love aspect of a pink Himalayan salt. Yep. Which now we'll get into. We'll get into that today, actually. So you have your water. We have it in a lovely China dish. Uh you're gonna sprinkle some of your salt into it. Don't use invocation. I don't. See, the invocation I use, which is why it's a little bit of an altered version. Um, the temple uses a little bit of a longer form. Uh, I go with the basic kerniptoci, which is I cleanse this space. Um, and I say that as I light high bay leaf and extinguish it. And then I have the long version for when I actually cleanse people. But when I'm making my holy water itself, this is my method. Let me please. Uh backwards. Uh next Greek. Nope.

It's not technically a requirement. The basic building block is water, salt, leaf of some kind. If you want to get into it a little bit more in depth, as with this invocation, you can add other elements to it to sort of strengthen your holy water.

But so you basically want the salt representing the sea, some form of earth, which normally we would use barley to represent scrapping the earth.

The earth. Yeah, I'm speaking about the the temple version version. Temple version it. It's alright. Temple version, salt is water, barley is earth, and then bay leaf is air. In this version, in this version, which is the version that I learned first, and um Unfortunately attached to because that's a really cool version. Uh, I just I don't know. I like the simplicity of this, makes it nice on my new moons when I'm doing stuff like this, and I just go phew, light, calyptoci, and that's it.

And so when you you're gonna flick water at somebody, don't flick it at them, sort of like around the auras. Yeah. So starting at the head by ice, and then at the chest by water, at the pelvis, by earth, and then at the feet by shadow, I cleanse you. And then turn around for me, babes. Thank ya. In this case, we are using Hestia's statue to create some smoke for us. Not statue.

We were talking about how our charging is actually our drink for the night in a lot of cases. Oh yeah. So do you want to give that comparison really quick? Yes. So we were doing our little prep for the evening, and actually we were a little bit more thorough about our pre-ritual. Our pre-ritual ritual. You know, you've heard it if you're on our podcast. We talk a lot about this is the shot we took, this is the drink we made, and now we're here. Um I've sort of had the realization that so hold on. She told me this as we were holding our shot glasses.

Uh, I feel like taking our shot is our version of a cleanser. It is our leveler. It brings us either up to match the energy or down to match the energy, which is what the cleansing is also for. It levels the playing field so that everybody goes into the space at stable level. Uh, because after that shot, we both got real quiet. We both got real quiet. And I was like, hmm, I will correct in my assertion. Uh, which then brings us to this, where I feel like the creating our drink for the evening is sort of our charging that's putting energy into the space. Which is why we're going to have our Hestia candle here. Oh my god, she'd be happy today. Yes, happy girl. We love her. How strong her flame is. I know. Look how fast she's brand candle. You should actually take a picture of that. That is a fantastic picture. I love you. So stuck. So it's really similarly with uh the charging, uh, because it is an open flame or smoke, in this case it is definitely an open flame, you don't put it too close to the person's actual body.

So I actually have my oil from First Circle that you're going to use. I do not remember quite exactly what's in it.

Um, so yeah, so in first circle, we create an oil in the class for learning about making oils for this purpose for anointing. Um, each one makes a purpose, uh not purpose, an oil for first circle. I left mine at home, so we are going to be using chiaras.

And actually, I think I have the notes on what I put in this, but I know there's pine. The bottle is a little leaky, so it's kind of oily.

I think it's earth. It has to do with uh the reason why I think it's earth is because it has to do with uh the components and getting to know them uh without looking them up. Um to sort of No, it was spirit. Was it spirit?

So my oil has lavender, sweet pine, Himalayan pink salt. So lavender herb, sweet pine herb, and then jasmine oil, lavender oil, and rose oil.
