Heavenly Human
Welcome to the Heavenly Human podcast where we help you pause and pivot toward true fulfillment.
Have you ever felt that stirring deep inside — that quiet voice telling you there's something more for your life? That feeling that despite all your success, something still feels missing?
We’ve been there. We are you. Three years ago, co-host Laura King was at the peak of her career as an Executive Recruiter. On paper, she had it all. Awards, accolades, and a healthy bank account. But each night, she’d come home feeling slightly off, a bit disconnected, and wondering, "Is this it?"
In 2023, it all came crashing down with a triple diagnosis - severe anxiety, ADHD, and sleep issues. Her body was screaming what her heart had been whispering for years. There was another path. There was another way of being.
Co-host Mondo experienced a similar calling. Three years ago, he was living what many would consider the dream — a successful startup founder with a six-figure lifestyle. Then, his heart called him to something radical: surrendering 99% of his material possessions to pursue a completely different path.
What Laura and Mondo both discovered through deep conversations, healing, tears, breakthroughs, and countless moments of growth was that we were being called to our unique sliver of Heaven on Earth — what we now call, Heavenly Human.
We've now joined forces to create this podcast, sharing what we've learned with other believers who feel that same nudge toward something more meaningful. We're here to guide you toward fulfillment through the embodiment of heaven on earth.
Peace, Love, Joy, Freedom, Abundance.
It’s all waiting for you.
"Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

Choosing Your Own Adventure: Embracing Life's Call
What if life's unexpected challenges aren't obstacles, but divine invitations to discover who you truly are? In this soul-stirring conversation, Laura and Mondo unpack the hero's journey as it applies to our everyday lives, revealing how moments of crisis often signal our call to adventure.
Laura vulnerably shares her family's transformation when facing the stress of an unexpected pregnancy while her husband was deeply unhappy in his career. Rather than succumbing to victim mentality, they chose to see this challenge as an opportunity—eventually leading him to leave his job and start a music school. This powerful testimony illustrates how our responses to life's difficulties literally shape our destiny.
The hosts offer practical wisdom for navigating your own hero's journey, from recognizing your emotional compass (if you feel lousy, you're out of alignment; if you feel good, you're on track) to understanding the inevitable stages of transformation. They explain why joy cannot exist without struggle—"The triumph of overcoming something is where you experience joy. If there's nothing that you overcame, the joy just isn't going to be there."
Perhaps most touching is Laura's revelation about her personal love story—learning to truly love herself. "I could not look at myself in the mirror and say 'I love you,'" she admits. "And now I can, and I can gaze into my eyes and see this eternal spirit." This self-acceptance becomes the foundation for loving others unconditionally.
Whether you're facing an unexpected transition, feeling stuck in conformity, or simply sensing there's something more to life, this episode will help you recognize your own call to adventure and embrace it with courage. As Mondo reminds us, "You're eternal spirits playing the heavenly human game—you can't get it wrong."

Welcome to the Heavenly Human Podcast, where we help you pause and pivot towards true fulfillment. My name is Ara Mondo, but you can call me Mondo, and I am joined by the one and only Laura King.
Speaker 2:Oh wow, what a nice setup there.
Speaker 1:You know one, and only Before we get into the content, though, I want to like let the audience know how we are producing and distributing this podcast. You know I know some people like really like structure. They like to know, like, when are these things coming so I can organize my life around it. Laura, I'm more of a chaos person and kind of just happens when it happens, but we wanted to make sure that we are letting you know how we are delivering this content to you. So, starting April 4th even though that already happened we do deep dives on Fridays. Laura does these deep dives independently on her own. I'll have her share more about that. But on Mondays we do core content, which is this full blown tag team effort podcast, and then every Tuesday, we do our yes and segment, and that's Mondo independently sharing. But first, like Laura, wrap us into this deep dive that you do on Friday. Where did it come from? Where are you pulling from some other content? Help us understand just the essence of your Friday deep dives.
Speaker 2:My Friday deep dive. These are the peak of the week. So I started I committed to writing one email every Friday as I had a desire to build up my email list. Essentially, I was like, oh okay, so I know, as a smart business person, the key to success is not necessarily growing on social media.
Speaker 2:It's direct access to people, and I thought, gosh, I would love to come into people's inboxes, but what would be a message that they would want to hear? And so what I would do is I would just listen very intently every week to the kinds of conversations I was having with people, and then I would, on Thursday night, say okay, what did you hear? Let's just sit down and write something. And this became just a ritual for me, and it even happens now outside of Thursday nights, where I will just get these. I call them my downloads. It might even happen when I'm running, it might happen when I'm out with my kids, and it'll be like oh Laura, this is the message, this is the message, and so if I can't write in the moment, I send myself, put it in my phone, and I just think these are messages that I'd like to say they come from God. I am a messenger and so I put my own little spin on it, but I really I find this just it's a sacred practice for me, it's a sacred ritual.
Speaker 1:I love it. I love it. So for those of you that didn't fully grab what Laura just said is, if you stumbled on this podcast and you haven't gotten on her email list yet, be sure to do that email list yet, Be sure to do that LauraEKingcom. And she sends out this email every Friday, which is the current version of Laura, what she is feeling, what is on her spirit. And then also we have this podcast so you can hear how Laura was thinking or feeling in some past version of herself and you can kind of like contrast the two. So you're getting a double dose of Laura every Friday if you're listening to this podcast and you have her new peak of the week that drops every Friday. Awesome Mondays we tag team this thing right, we really dive into a topic. So stay tuned for our content that drops every Monday. Really dive into a topic, so stay tuned for our content that drops every Monday.
Speaker 1:Laura and I together on the Heavenly Human Podcast. And then Tuesdays is my yes Anne segments. And so yes, Anne is where I take something Laura or I have said at some point in our journey on a microphone. It's somewhere and it just really spoke to me and I felt like a yes and layering on more context. I'm like how that really sat with me or how I really feel Others might want to look at that piece of information and hopefully it adds some value to somebody. I feel like I am.
Speaker 1:I'll say both of us, Laura and I, are both oddballish. We have our own quirks, but let's say that we sit on different sides of the spectrum, right? So if you like envision this line in this spectrum Laura, if she stretches her hands out wide, she can reach the left end of the spectrum and then her right hand reaches the middle of the spectrum and then I come in and then I'm on the other side and my left hand is hitting the middle of the spectrum and my right hand is hitting the other opposite end of the spectrum, and between what I share and what Laura shares, hopefully you're somewhere in the middle of this huge spectrum and you get some value from it. So that is why we have organized the podcast this way, so that whoever you are, wherever you're at you, can find a way to get some type of value, and that is the housekeeping I needed to get that out of the way.
Speaker 2:Congratulations, I know.
Speaker 1:But let's dig in right, like Congratulations, I know, but let's dig in Right, like Laura, how are you and how are the family? Right, like, let's just start there, because you've done some traveling, you've experienced some things. Let's just start with how are you and the fam?
Speaker 2:We are in a really good spot right now, like things are the best they've ever been. I'm like you see my tears in my eyes Like they are the best they've ever been, and I just expect it to continue, to continue to get better.
Speaker 1:That is awesome. Would you like to let us in on this trip you took?
Speaker 2:I would love to. So I was in Florida with my family and we have been there. My parents have a house in Sarasota and so we've got some history of being there for spring break and I was able to reflect on past versions of Laura on vacation. Quote vacation Is it a vacation when you have that many children?
Speaker 2:We call them, trips, and especially this year, with entering what I'm calling the unknown. I mean, I have a business where I'm coaching and got my purpose workshops and doing some speaking but there's still this God could take this anywhere. And I also have a piece of recruiting that I'm still doing. Yeah, and so mine was very familiar. I always say old Laura would do this, new Laura does this. So old Laura was always so concerned about striving, accomplishing, getting somewhere, and she would work and work and work and work. But I wasn't always working on the right things. Now, my version of right things is literally like these priorities in front of me, these kids, these relationships, the relationship with my parents, the relationship with my brother, the relationship with my husband, and so I now view success in the amount of time I'm present with people and I'm just like when was the last time I ever went on vacation and I was fully present? Never Now would I give myself an A plus?
Speaker 2:No, never Now would I give myself an A plus? No, definitely not. I mean, I still had some things. I would open my laptop. I'm working on a book right now. I'm like I spent time doing work. Quote unquote work. It's my art. There you go.
Speaker 2:It's my art. But the boys were like, mom, we can tell you're really into something. What are you doing? I'm like, oh guys, I don't know if I told you about this, but I'm writing a book and they had so many questions for me, it was so fun. And then we just got talking about just all these different things that they could be when they grow up, and I don't know, it was a different kind of vacation.
Speaker 2:I also brought a presence, I think, with my mom and my dad that I had it before and like that, turned into some magical moments and a couple times when things were going south with one or two of the boys, I was able to bring this unconditional, loving presence where, if we don't get a hold of sometimes their rage, it spirals and it can really affect everyone. My six-year-old he threw his club at mini golfing because he was so mad. He threw it down and it was just like pounding and I was able, within five minutes, turning it around. And so these like little moments are like part of a bigger thing that's happening, thing that's happening, and that enhanced presence helps me lock in on what people need in the moment, especially the kids, and I don't know.
Speaker 1:I just I don't worry about the future anymore, like I just know it's all going to work out yeah, like I just don't worry, which is crazy because I was like the queen of worrying the journey, aka the assignment, aka the adventure, aka whatever word you want to give to it. But this quest that I am referring to is essentially this. This quest that I am referring to is essentially this intersection in your life where you're called to go do something different or bold, to make a huge change. And the quote that I want to pull from to get us started Laura said this in her turning 42 deep dive. She says your purpose is not to conform and follow the standards of the external world, but to discover who we are and become that.
Speaker 1:And so just with that statement alone, I know it might create some dissonance for some people, right, that may have lived a life of conformity, and it might kind of hit like well, are you saying that I don't know who I am? We're not saying that. But if you're thinking that, then it's probably true. But for that person, like how can we help them look at their life differently? Like, what actions or what questions can they begin to ask themselves to? I don't know, discern if they are the person that they were designed to be? Like, what would you advise? What would you advise that person right now? Like Yo, do this to start.
Speaker 2:Hmm, I would have them start paying attention to the way they feel their emotions, because your emotions tell you If you're feeling lousy, you are out of alignment. If you're feeling good, you are in alignment. Yeah. Like it is as easy as paying attention to your emotions and then connecting with oh, when I do this I tend to be happy, and when I do this I tend to get depressed or sad or angry or insert whatever the emotion is. I would literally recommend having an emotions journal. Ooh.
Speaker 2:Whenever we can shine a light on our own awareness, this is the journey. It always starts with awareness, always starts with awareness, awareness of okay, when I think that thought and then speak it, how does that make me feel? Yeah, because it all starts with the thought. Comes on, his words, becomes these, these, these behaviors and these habits that create a reality. These, these, these behaviors and these habits that create a reality. And so likely, likely, if you're anything like me, you blindly adopted what other people told you without actually experiencing it. Okay.
Speaker 2:I blindly adopted beliefs without actually being like. I'm going to test that for myself. Yeah.
Speaker 2:So that has been so eye-opening for me to say oh, I was given this belief of like, sort of like anything you, to accomplish anything in life, you've got to work really, really hard. To accomplish anything in life, you've got to work really, really hard. What if I just experimented and said what if I operated from a place of joy? Yeah, and it didn't actually have to be hard, how would that go? And so far, it's all amazing. Do I fall into again old Laura behavior? I sure do. But then I remind myself I'm like, oh, that's right, I have the power to choose. I have the power to choose. Therefore, I'm going to go shift over here, I'm going to pause. Pivot reframe. Yeah.
Speaker 2:But I don't know these things until I'm aware of them.
Speaker 1:Yeah Well, let us in. I'm going to ask you some deeper questions. Let us into your life a little bit, Laura, because there was a season in your life where there were some uncomfortable feelings in your household because your husband didn't enjoy his nine to five job. Right. Eventually he left, started a music school. But like, bring us back to right before that. Like, what was that? Like how was the energy in the house? Like how did you start to have those conversations?
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, If you would have come in here in 2019, you would have been like you could feel the tension, because there was tension. Not only were we oops, having a fourth kid, brian's like, oh cool, I get to continue working at a job that I don't love because now I have another kid to support, and 2019 for us was so hard. It was so hard and it was almost just a miracle when Crosby came into the world that it's like something was lifted in this household, like some sort of oh, we got through it. We got through it, and there's this amazing human who is now on the earth. And that is when I really shifted, because that's when I was like, oh, I'm interested in reading the Bible and I want to learn more about my faith, and I started really getting into my faith walk. At the same time, my energy, I think, was influencing Brian. Oh, and then, okay, now it's COVID, you're locked in with all your children and, okay, let's figure this out.
Speaker 2:I believe it was end of April 2020, that Brian comes to me like, oh, laura, I mean, as long as it's like you know, potentially the end of the world, like tongue in cheek, I might as well just start creating a business plan. It's like in my head I was just, I mean, I'm like, yeah, honey, yeah, that sounds good, yeah, and I just kept encouraging him and encouraging and encouraging him and I'm not going to make it sound like everything was super easy. But looking back, I'm like, no, this was exactly our path, because Brian needed me, because I am so filled with faith and enthusiasm and if you believe you've been achieved, no, if you believe it will happen, there's no other way. And so I saw it so clearly and I remember there's one conversation he wanted to give up and I was like I never do this, but I'm threatening I'm going to divorce you if you actually don't do this. You did not come this far to not fully leap.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, that is. That's so real, right? So when you think of this call to adventure, it is we are about to have a fourth kid and it does not feel like an adventure that you want to go on Right. It's like, yeah, we, we love it, we, we love the humans, we love our kids, but it doesn't feel like this is about to be the most epic experience. We would definitely have chose to do this right now. Right, like like it didn't feel like that and I'm sharing that, because somebody is having another kid that they didn't expect. Somebody just got released from their job and they didn't expect it. Somebody is navigating a divorce and they didn't expect it. Somebody is hit with the challenge of a loss of life, and they didn't expect it.
Speaker 1:These major moments are those call to adventure beginnings where you have to make a choice. Are you going to embark on that hero's journey believing that you are the hero in the story, hero's journey believing that you are the hero in the story, or are you going to have this woe is me, energy and feel like the world is crumbling on top of you and you are just asking why me? Why did this happen to me? It is literally a choice you have to make in that moment, Literally a choice you have to make in that moment. And what I hear Laura say is this tag team in her household, somebody has this super energy feeling. They're just like yep, babe, let's do it. Other one is like yeah, I don't know, but like, yeah, ok, let's go. I hear you like we're on the same team and together they found a way to make it work, but both needed to opt in with some level of confidence that it was possible. And so you, whoever you are, you are not by yourself, even if it seems that way your spouse, your best friend, your neighbor, there's somebody there that is also being called to adventure at the exact same time, and they're simply just looking around, being like I wish I could do this with somebody. And if you choose to say I'm going to do this, you're going to walk outside and that neighbor's going to walk outside at the same time and you're going to have a conversation and you're going to be like this was a miracle. We don't even talk like that, but for some reason we did.
Speaker 1:The reason why Laura and I believe in this so much is because it's how we came together. Right, we were both called to adventure at the same time with two completely different sets of circumstances. Two completely different sets of circumstances and three years later we're literally just sharing how we navigated our experiences. But the call looked a lot different. Laura's call was having a kid COVID husband looking to quit his job to go do an amazing business. To go do an amazing business.
Speaker 1:Mine was COVID. Business was booming, right Like I was in tech. All money was flowing everywhere because it was a crisis and everybody needed to learn how to use technology. So, like, wherever I turned, there was money. And so at that moment I looked at it and I was like, well, this isn't it, this isn't the full story. And the call to adventure was a choice to leave all my material possessions. Now, it didn't happen right in the middle of COVID, but because God knows your mind and God knows your heart, god knows where you're leaning Right, and because I had that in my spirit, god was like, oh OK, well, let me offer these opportunities for you to step into this new adventure. And when it became clear and present that, like there's a fork in the road, I was all for that change. That call, that call to adventure, that quest is for you right now, wherever you're at like, like, take it because you're invited to step into something greater.
Speaker 2:You're invited to step in and it's completely up to you. Again, Like it's like choose your own adventure. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Choose your own adventure, because that's that's the more that I'm into into reflecting. I'm like gosh I chose everything. I chose how I wanted to feel, and so when I was in my victim story of feeling so sorry for myself, I chose that Maybe not consciously at the time, but now upon reflection Maybe not consciously at the time, but now upon reflection because I believe we're supposed to experience the duality yeah, so so much. If you're in a really hard season right now, this can be like oh, because I don't want to feel like this. Yeah.
Speaker 2:The rest of my life. Yeah. So maybe that means I need to make different decisions.
Speaker 1:Yo, something that really hit me recently, tied to what Laura just said. I added this other layer to it. So these things are happening and it's this call to adventure and we were just talking about how. It's a call to discover your true self and who you are. Yes, and that call is really to like build a closer relationship with christ. What I discovered about myself was I always had just enough middle class skills, travel, had stuff right I didn't have. I wasn't wrapped with trauma. I had loving family. Because of that, I didn't necessarily like run to build a relationship with Jesus Because I didn't need him in my mind, right, I was just like I'm good as I am. Right, I was just like I'm good as I am. These intersections that create this drama, right, that seems so Overly unbearable to carry when those things happen, the only thing you can do eventually is like ask God for help.
Speaker 2:Is that? You're crossing, crossing the threshold moments.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's where you're leaving the familiar. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and you can either choose it or you're gonna get shoved.
Speaker 2:But like mark, mark those words. You can either choose it or you're gonna get shoved yeah see, where's that? My? I always say like it starts with a whisper. If you don't hear the whisper, you're gonna get a slap across the face, and if you don't hear the whisper, you're gonna get a slap across the face and if you don't have the slap like you are going to, just I mean, like it's going to be more, like there's a wind that's going to come and just yeah, yeah plow you down and you can either say why me?
Speaker 1:or thank you, god, right, like, and that that's the rest of your story dictates how you feel after you get hit, smacked in the face, shoved, I believe. Eventually, me and Laura chose a path where we were like thanks God, all right, I know it's going to be hard, it's going to take time to endure these challenges, to learn a new version of ourself, to try to experience joy. Also, you can't experience joy unless you go through this trying time. Like the triumph of overcoming something is where you experience the joy. If there's nothing that you overcame, the joy just isn't going to be there. Just be aware of that.
Speaker 1:It's the difference between happiness and joy. Like, something can happen randomly and you can be happy, you're like, oh man, like that's a happy moment. But when you are at the depth, the bottom version of yourself, something that is just so hard, and you do something that lifts you out of it, you fly out of it, you climb out of it, you do something so miraculous that you're like how did that even happen? That is where joy is birthed. So, like be bold, be courageous, go do the thing that makes you extremely scared. Also, as early as you possibly can ask Jesus to join you, and then Jesus has been like I've been here, uh, but thanks for finally talking to me. That was my issue, um, and the experience is going to be miraculous.
Speaker 2:So call to adventure. You're invited to separate in something greater mentorship. You're going to meet guides along the way, crossing the threshold. You leave the familiar to enter into the unknown. You leave the familiar to enter into the unknown. And then there's your trials and tribulations period, where you face struggles that test and refine you. Then comes transformation. You emerge with wisdom and purpose. And then, my favorite, the return with the elixir. My favorite, the return with the elixir, the return with the elixir. This is where you're like oh, I've tasted something amazing and you just want everyone else to taste it. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Like that. I think that sums up where we're at. We're like oh life gets to be good. Yeah. And amazing and fun and you get to choose.
Speaker 1:but it doesn't mean that both Mademoiselle didn't have a lot of trials and tribulations because it's like Laura literally has this huge water bottle right now in front of us and if it's all filled with that elixir that she's talking about, a random person just can't come in and drink from it. It's like Thor and Thor's hammer you can't come in and drink from it. It's like Thor and Thor's hammer you can't just pick it up. It's right there but you can't lift it unless you go on this journey yourself, like you have to go find your own elixir.
Speaker 1:Laura's remix of elixir has just the right ingredients for Laura. Your elixir is going to be a little bit different, and mine is going to be a little bit different, and so all we can do is encourage you and be a guide in saying like it's okay, it's super scary, but go through it, go do it. That elixir is at the end and once you'd get a sip of it, as Laura just said, it is like Popeye when he ate the spinach and he just like what is this? It's just this transformation, right, like so yeah, get your elixir, it's miraculous.
Speaker 2:And just to me this is just so cool because I used to think, you know, life was just all about accomplishments and I'm like, oh my gosh, it's so much richer than that. And so now I can see the beauty. It's this character development, my own character development, all these people I care about, and their character development. So now it's just so easy for me to love people because I'm like you're on your way, you're on your way, you're on your way, you're on your way, and I don't think one is better than the other. Right yeah.
Speaker 2:Like it's just because you now experience this unconditional love that you can see the beauty in it all.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, and to see it that way, you have to elevate your character. It's as if God blinds you from being able to see it that way until you choose to nurture yourself and experience the best version of you. Right to have those clear eyes for some reason. I think about the dude who does like the clear-eyed eye drop, like clear eye. Never mind that was so random, but his voice, his monotone voice, was just in my mind. Like clear eyes, yeah, um, but but literally it.
Speaker 1:It is that it's going through this journey until you get to a point where you have clear eyes, where you can't even see an alternative to unconditional love. Like you just know it is your assignment to walk through this world with that and when you get there, you're just like yo, thank you God. This is so awesome that wanting to be a standout right Like so we do things to like accomplish something to like be on our own version of a pedestal right. Win a championship, have a lot of money, do whatever right. Like we want to be admired by others. It's just in us. Admired by others, it's just in us.
Speaker 1:When you reach that character that is aligned with unconditional love, you recognize like yes, I'm an outlier, but the person giving me this high five is God, right or other humans that are aligned with unconditional love. We just know it's, it's kind of like being an inside man or inside woman, part of this like God, fraternity, sorority, and like when you know, you just know and it's just. It's just there and it's glorious. So I want to end with this question how would you describe your love story?
Speaker 2:Oh wow, it's a good thing you can give these to me in advance.
Speaker 1:And it's the last question that I put on here, because we're talking about character development and this story and this journey and you're doing with your kids and your husband, but really it's like, if it's all written down, it is an epic love story, and so how would you describe your love story today?
Speaker 2:you know, so interesting, because I was about to interrupt you as you're saying something and like, oh, now this is my perfect time to actually say this is, um, it's the journey to love myself. So I could not look at myself in the mirror and say I love you. I couldn't do it. And now I can, and I can gaze into my eyes and I can see this eternal spirit and I'm like I love you. And when I say that to myself, I'm actually saying it to everyone, like I genuinely believe that we are all connected and so when I can just love myself, it is a symbol to that love that extends to everyone.
Speaker 3:I love that and that's the greatest love everyone I love that and that's the greatest love story.
Speaker 2:I love it Because if we're all operating in love. Oh, my goodness gracious, what an amazing world.
Speaker 1:As Laura said before in one of her deep dives, we are eternal spirits playing the heavenly human game, and so play that game with unconditional love.
Speaker 2:You can't get it wrong are eternal spirits playing the heavenly human game, and so play that game with unconditional love. You can't get it wrong. You can't get it wrong. You're here for the experience. You have free will you cannot get it wrong.
Speaker 1:Until next time. Peace.
