Whiskey or Wise Key? Finding Clarity Through Sobriety

Trusted Voices Season 2 Episode 9

What if the path to your greatest wisdom and spiritual insight begins with a simple choice? Through a powerful wordplay revelation, whiskey transforms into "wise key" – a metaphor for how sobriety might unlock divine perception that remains hidden to others.

This isn't about moral judgments or forcing lifestyle changes on anyone. Rather, it's an invitation to consider a profound spiritual proposition: "The oddballs who want to hear from God, who want to experience their superpower, who want to walk this world with wisdom that lives outside the norm – literally, their first step is to choose sobriety." Could it really be that straightforward?

The spiritual journey described transcends mere abstinence. It's about establishing a direct connection with divine wisdom: "I live by the wisdom, grace and generosity of God's word, not by the ingenuity of my own intellect." This approach transforms us from isolated problem-solvers into vessels through which God reveals solutions that exist in everyone else's blind spots.

For independent thinkers accustomed to relying on their own intelligence, this surrender presents a unique challenge. Yet the promise is compelling – becoming the person in the room who, through divine partnership, can offer breakthrough insights when everyone else is stuck. It's about moving from solo operation to "tag-teaming" with God, discovering that "the few of us that do, yo, it's curtains."

If you've been seeking your unique contribution or struggling to find clarity amid life's complexities, perhaps this perspective offers a starting point worth considering. The invitation stands: choose your wise key, pursue sobriety not as a burden but as the beginning of an extraordinary partnership with divine wisdom. What might you see if you cleared your vision?

Speaker 1:

Because I gave up whiskey, god was like oh, thank you for doing that. The thing that you were blinded to is you weren't actually seeking whiskey, you were seeking the wise key, right, like whiskey. You, seeing it over and over and over, was just something that every time you look, you would see wise and you would see key. Now that you don't have whiskey in you anymore, I am going to put you on this track to have your wise key. You are going to start seeing things in the world in a way that others aren't able to see it, because you're not putting this dark spirit into your body. So I'm going to clear your sight a little bit more, yo. So I start and stop this episode many times over because I want to share the right words, but I also want to make sure that I'm not projecting. But it feels like, for some reason, god is like no, I need you to double down on the wise key as it relates to whiskey, and so it's not necessarily about whiskey, but it is about alcohol. But it is about alcohol and like I'm not trying to be on my soapbox telling somebody else they have to be sober or else right, like that's not what I'm on. I don't want to be that guy. Yes, and there is a unique value prop that aligns with somebody who chooses sobriety Right, just out of faith, just like oh okay, I'm looking at the world, I'm looking at how people are behaving, I'm looking at my own behavior and, for some reason, I'm just going to make the random, healthy choice to choose sobriety and because I make that choice, I believe that God is going to give me with some type of unique value prop. Right, that's, that's literally all I'm on right now. For some reason, god is just on me to just say those words that way, as if God is making it that simple to be like yeah, the oddballs who want to hear from me, who want to experience their superpower Right, who want to like, be able to walk this world with some type of wisdom that lives outside the norm Literally, their first step is to choose sobriety. Like, what if it is that simple? I'm not saying that it absolutely is, but what if it is? What if you choosing that path and believing that that is all you need to do to start to experience the wisest version of yourself is to just choose sobriety? Let me put some more color on this At the top of my notes in my iPhone, I have written I live by the wisdom, grace and generosity of God's word, not by the ingenuity of my own intellect.

Speaker 1:

Let me say that one more time I live by the wisdom, grace, grace and generosity of God's word, not by the ingenuity of my own intellect. So here's how I receive that. So for me, I chose to balance to the best of my ability my mind, body and spirit Right. The healthiest that I can make my mind, the healthiest that I can make my body, the healthiest that I can make my spirit Like. I choose those behaviors day after day after day.

Speaker 1:

And because I choose those behaviors, I also choose to believe that, no matter what environment I am in, when the community that I am with gets stuck, when they cannot discern the solution or the right way forward, god will use me, the wise key To ask the right question or to offer the right solution. Does that make sense? Like, really like I'm. I'm asking like does that make sense? Because for me it's not about being a know it all, because for me it's not about being a know-it-all and like having a billion books memorized in my brain, so like I know everything, like I don't get joy from that? Me personally. I am the person in the room that God will use to reveal the answer that's sitting in everybody else's blind spot, you know, and it's because I believe that I'm doing the work to have that direct connection, that like healthy thread, as if this invisible umbilical cord is connected to God, and when nobody else has the answer, it's just like, oh, just send it to Mando. And so if it is just that simple and all I have to do is be the healthiest version of myself, sobriety is just part of that health path. Be the healthiest version of myself, sobriety is just part of that health path. But that also means that anybody can access it right.

Speaker 1:

Anybody that chooses to humble themselves and say, oh, okay, like I'm going to choose wisdom, grace and generosity from God as opposed to needing to solve every problem with my own ingenuity and intellect Right. The thing we want is to be valued in our community. Whoever our community is, whoever we rock with, we want to be able to bring something to the table. That people are like man. She has that one thing man. He can do that better than anybody else. And so there's a way to choose that you are in direct tag team relationship with God, so that when nobody else has the solution, god will use you to deliver it. Like like that's so dope, like to me, that is so dope To literally be the authentic version of yourself, the peak version of yourself, the heavenly, human version of yourself, and just know that eventually everybody's going to be stuck and you can step in and say, through God, I am offering this plan and the reason why God is using you is because you chose to believe in him, believe in his wisdom and his grace and his generosity.

Speaker 1:

As an oddball though it's so challenging, it's challenging for us to give up or surrender this intellect that we feel like is above and beyond everybody else around us. But I'm telling you through experience that relying on our own wisdom will eventually lead to our own destruction. I believe it to be true, and so pivoting away from our own wisdom and aligning on God's wisdom is extremely hard, but oh so glorious. And because we have been operating as outliers up until this point, on our own, because we just believe we're just that dope in general when God says oh man, like as opposed to like continuing to operate alone you want to high five and do this together?

Speaker 1:

Oh bet Right, like the last three years, I'm telling you, it was as if God was like oh, mondo, you want to tag team this thing? Okay, let's go Right. Like this is me literally feeling God's energy. Like let's go, because so often, as oddballs, we get hung up on our own gifts and we don't surrender to God's plan. And the few of us that do, yo, it's curtains, straight up, it's curtains, straight up, it's curtains. And so there's not many more words that I want to say on this topic, except for consider choosing your wise key. Pursue that path of sobriety, simply because Peace.
