Stop accepting "fine"

In this powerful, no-holds-barred episode, I'm getting real about the epidemic of what I call "high-functioning misalignment" – that state where you're achieving by all external measures but feeling disconnected, exhausted, and wondering why success doesn't feel like you thought it would. Drawing from my own journey from absolute misery to genuine alignment, I share what's possible when you refuse to accept "fine" as your standard.

Hey, it's Laura and welcome to this week's Peak of the Week. You know we are going to get a little real this week because I'm feeling a little I don't know, I don't want to say feisty, confident, just excited. Coming off the heels of the Shine Brighter release party and just all the momentum behind it, and I just know the place I was at two years ago was just absolute misery, feeling so awful like there was no escape. My life was just, it was awful Like I I can't it's hard to find the words to describe other than disconnected, not present just I couldn't see light out of the tunnel. And so this is an email that's literally going out to about a thousand people tomorrow and I figured you know what. You're going to hear it, you're going to hear it. You're going to hear it just like I would say it to a friend. Forgive me, but I'm going to be direct with this one.

You wouldn't drive your car for months with the gas light on, wondering why it keeps sputtering. You wouldn't keep using a phone that dies at 20% battery and call it normal. You wouldn't live in a house where the electricity only worked some of the time. So why do some people go through the motions and accept a life that feels drained. Here's what I see happening in more places than I'd like to admit Brilliant, capable people who have convinced themselves that Sunday night, sunday night scary Sunday night dread is normal, that working through every vacation is just part of success, that feeling disconnected from their own family at dinner is the price that they have to pay for achievement. You know what that is. That's not success, that's high functioning misalignment, and it's only going to get worse unless something changes. I share this because I was this and here's what I know after working with hundreds of high achievers. There are two types of people in this world the ones who feel that quiet ache of misalignment and think this is just how life is, and the ones who feel it and say I refuse to accept this as my normal. The first group say stuck in patterns that drain them, they keep hoping things will magically get better when the kids are older, when work slows down and when life gets less complicated. The second group they make a decision that changes everything. They invest in themselves, not their business, not their resume, not their networking events, themselves. What actually happens when you invest in yourself? You stop checking email during your daughter's soccer game, not because you have to, because you genuinely want to be there, fully present. You wake up Monday morning without that heavy feeling in your chest, because your work finally feels aligned with who you are. You make decisions without second-gu, second guessing yourself for weeks, because you've learned to trust your inner compass again. You have energy left for the people and the things that matter most, not just the leftover scraps after you've given everything to everyone else. This isn't wishful thinking. This is what every single person who's done the work tells me.

Jennifer discovered her core values and strengths through the workshop and used them to completely pivot her career. Thanks to Laura's support and guidance, I am now confidently pursuing a career that resonates with who I am and what I love to do. Doing a career that resonates with who I am and what I love to do. Carrie stayed in her current role but made micro moves that transformed everything. I started showing up differently, my confidence deepened and I was equipped to have a conversation with my employer about how to adjust my role slightly to better use my skills and find alignment in my life. Slightly to better use my skills and find alignment in my life. And Paul he realized he could start his own business a decade sooner than he thought possible. I went from feeling total despair about my limited role to being in the best position professionally, personally and with my family personally and with my family. So here's my question for you what would you do if you knew I mean really, really knew that investing time and energy in getting aligned would give you back more time, more energy and more joy than anything else you could possibly do? And yes, roll your eyes at me, because that's exactly what happens.

The Pursue your Purpose workshop is taking place September 11th and 12th, two half days that will walk you through my four A's framework, the exact process that's helped hundreds of people stop accepting fine as their standard and start creating lives and careers that feel extraordinary from the inside out. This isn't about finding yourself through some mystical journey. This is a practical, grounded framework that creates real results. We're talking about clarity on what actually matters to you, tools for making decisions that honor your values, a roadmap for creating success that energizes you instead of depleting you. And if you're thinking, laura, I don't have time for this, then that's exactly why you need it. The people who think they don't have time to invest in themselves are the ones burning out on vacation, missing their kids' bedtime stories because they're stuck in another urgent meeting and wondering why success doesn't feel like they thought it would. Plus, everyone who registers gets my 21 Days to Shine Brighter online course absolutely free. Online course absolutely free. That's another $297 value that you'll receive right after the workshop to keep the momentum going.

It took me a long time to get to this point. I have been teaching this for two years and I didn't necessarily believe in myself when I started, but guess what? Hundreds of case studies later, I believe. I believe. I believe in this workshop, and if this workshop doesn't call to you and something else is, do it. Invest in yourself. Invest in yourself. Don't keep waiting for the perfect time. You can keep telling yourself that things will get better. When life slows down, you can continue to accept that quiet ache as just being part of it, or you can decide that you're done with I'm good, I'm fine. I know this because I'd be like I'm good, I'm fine, I wasn't. No, I wasn't.

Speaker 1:

I would love for you to join me. There is a few more spots open in September the 11th and 12th, nine to noon. Well, we sometimes go to 1230 and we're going to be in St Louis Park. It's going to be amazing. Every person who's ever invested in this work whether it's one-on-one coaching with me, the purpose workshop or really anyone who undergoes personal development says the same thing I wish I had done this sooner. Don't let your future say that about you. Today, and if you can't wait until September, you can book a one-on-one call with me. I would love to help you. It is my joy, it is my honor to help you. It is my joy, it is my honor and I just applaud you for being here. Way to go.
