The Energy You Bring Changes Everything

What if the energy you bring to your career transition matters more than your resume? In a revealing episode, I share the stark contrast between two professionals with identical backgrounds facing the same market conditions—one struggling in fear for months while the other thrives with excitement and purpose.

The difference isn't luck or connections. It's the fundamental energy they bring to every conversation. When you approach your transition from fear, you scan for what's wrong, collect evidence of difficulties, and treat each interaction as a test to pass. But shift to a place of love and genuine curiosity, and something magical happens—people remember you, want to help you, and opportunities begin flowing instead of being forced.

Many talented professionals have been conditioned to believe they're small or that their skills don't matter. These are lies. You're not broken and don't need fixing. The real work is realigning with your authentic gifts, passions, and values. When you're grounded in these with a heart of service, you can't get it wrong.

Before your next networking call or interview, try this transformative question: "How can I be genuinely curious and helpful to the person in front of me today?" Not how to impress them or what to get from them—but how to serve. This small shift changes everything.

Whether you're currently in transition or sensing one on the horizon, consider this: what if this transition isn't something happening to you, but for you? What if it's actually a gift—precious time to reconnect with who you are when you're not performing someone else's version of success? Your next chapter begins with a mindset shift. Are you ready to approach it from a place of abundance rather than scarcity?

Speaker 1:

Hey, it's Laura. Welcome to this week's Peak of the Week. We're talking about energy. You know, energy, energy, I have been told. I have a lot of energy and it has really helped me. And it wasn't something I fully understood until I kept kind of peeling back layers and layers and layers. And I want to give you some good stuff today. So, as usual, I have the written peak of the week and then I kind of go off script sometimes, just as I feel compelled to share more. Does that sound good? And for those of you who don't know this, go buy Shine Brighter on Amazon and Barnes Noble.

Speaker 1:

So many, so many amazing messages are coming my way, including yours. What has that meant to you? If you've read a chapter, if you've read the whole thing, if you've read even a tiny portion, I love, love, love, love, love hearing from you. So please do not be shy. Love to hear epiphanies, breakthroughs, even just aha, moments that you have while reading the book, moments that you have while reading the book. All right, here we are your peak of the week.

Speaker 1:

So I was talking with a new client last week when she said something I hear all the time Laura, it's so awful out there. The job market is terrible. I've got so many friends that have been going on 12 months, 18 months with no job. Two hours later I'm on the phone with another client same industry, similar background who says something like this Laura, I'm having an absolute blast. I can't remember a time in my life where I've been able to just focus on meeting new people with genuine curiosity, getting to know them and being so captivated by possibilities for the future. There's just so many problems out there to solve and I just know that I will be led exactly where I'm supposed to be. Guess who lands faster? Yeah, you know. You know the answer. There's a difference between swimming upstream and downstream. And, no surprise, after placing thousands of professionals working with thousands of professionals in the recruiting space, the energy you bring to any transition makes all the difference. Two people, same qualifications, same market conditions, completely different outcome. One operates from fear, scanning for what's wrong, collecting evidence of how hard everything is approaching each conversation as a test. Everything is approaching each conversation as a test. The other operates from love, genuine curiosity about people excited about solving problems.

Speaker 1:

What I find heartbreaking is that our society or this might be, you know, a toxic organization that you've left behind has convinced so many talented professionals that they're small, insignificant and their skills don't matter. Lies, lies, lies. The work isn't about fixing what's wrong with you. You're not broken. We just need a realignment. The real work is coming back into knowing your gifts, knowing your passions, knowing your values. When you're grounded in those with a heart of service, you can't get this thing wrong.

Speaker 1:

And let me ask you this question what if this transition is actually your gift? I have seen this over and over and over People who have these resumes where it's like one year, one year, one year, 18 months, one year, 18 months. They're misaligned, they haven't figured it out yet. And okay, yes, there could be some other very different circumstances, but if you're going through the same cycle and feeling the same way, that's a pattern. So what if this transition is actually a gift? What if this transition is actually a gift and a year from now, you're going to look back at this time and you're going to say thank goodness because I going to look back at this time and you're going to say thank goodness Because I needed to stop that pattern. And what would change if you approached whether it's a career transition, whether it's any transition not as something happening to you, but as something happening for you. Happening to you, but as something happening for you. What if this time isn't about empty space to endure, but precious time to reconnect with who you are, when you're not performing someone else's version of success, that quiet ache, maybe, that you've been feeling, it's not a weakness, it's actually wisdom trying to come through, it's your inner compass, recalibrating towards something that will actually fulfill you, not just pay you.

Speaker 1:

So here's what I want to ask you whether you're in transition right now or sensing one on the horizon, are you approaching your next chapter from a place of fear or a place of love? Fear says I need to take whatever I can get. The market is terrible, I'm running out of time. There's scarcity, scarcity, scarcity, scarcity. Mindset. Love says I'm exactly where I need to be. I'm learning something important right now. The right opportunity will recognize my value.

Speaker 1:

The difference isn't just philosophical, it's practical. It shows up in your energy during interviews and how you network in the opportunities that seem to find you. So, if you're in transition, one small shift here's. One small shift that can change everything. Before your next conversation, whether it's a networking call, an interview or a coffee chat, I want you to ask yourself one question how can I be genuinely curious and helpful to the person in front of me today? Not how can I impress them, or what can I get from this. Or I wonder, like if they're sizing me up and judging me. No, how can I serve? How can I serve? When you show up to serve, something magical happens. People remember you. They want to help you. Opportunities start flowing instead of being forced to approach your transition or really anything, honestly, from love rather than fear, to have a difference in the energy. It's backed by an abundance mindset versus a scarcity mindset. I want to help. So two ways I can help.

Speaker 1:

One you can book an activation session where we'll reconnect you with your authentic value and craft an approach that feels as good on the inside as it looks on paper. We don't just strategize your job search. We will ground you in your gifts and create a plan that honors both your practical needs and your deeper truth and for deeper transformation, with community support. Join my next Pursue your Purpose workshop. That's happening the mornings of September 11th and 12th and it's not just about career strategy I mean career plays a role but it's soul level clarity about who you are, why you're here what you're meant to contribute. You'll leave with a clear sense about your authentic path and have a supportive community to help you walk it.

Speaker 1:

While I'm at it, I would like for you to begin to have this thought I am my best investment. I am my best investment. I am my best investment. Now I get it. Sometimes you just can't make the investment. But when you're spending money on things like Starbucks, coffee and I mean I was going to say chat, gpt, okay, okay, sometimes these other things that you're spending money on, put them to you.

Speaker 1:

You, if you could land one month faster by approaching this transition differently, how much would that be worth to you? What about two months faster? What about six months faster? And, beyond the whole financial impact, what would it mean for your confidence, your peace of mind, your sense of just trust in yourself and your future? I'm just wanting you to pause and think about these things.

Speaker 1:

You don't have to just do the same thing over. You can change. You can approach this differently. You can have something that recognizes your gifts, values your perspective and allows you to solve problems that you actually care about, because the world needs what you have to offer, and it's time that you believe that too. You don't need to listen to the people who are doom and gloom.

Speaker 1:

Doom and gloom, doom and gloom, because for every one doom and gloom, there's like 10 of us who are infinite possibilities. Like this is your life trying to wake you up. Are you going to get it this time or are you going to go around and do another circle of the same thing? Because something is trying to get your attention and you've got to pay attention, otherwise you could go on the same loop. I don't want you to go on the same loop, so book an activation session, come to the next, pursue your Purpose workshop, believe that you are your best investment, and whatever scenario you're in today whether it's a career transition, relationship, family well-being, health, all of it are you coming at it from a place of fear or a place of love? One simple perspective shift can truly change everything. I'm rooting for you.
