Have you ever spent weeks or months researching a decision, only to realize you knew the answer all along? That knot in your stomach when you consider one option, or that wave of relief when you imagine another—these aren't coincidences. They're your inner wisdom speaking.

After two decades of working with executives as they navigate major decisions, I've witnessed how the most effective leaders differentiate themselves through one critical skill: trusting their inner wisdom.

Speaker 1:

Hey, it's Laura, and welcome to this week's Peak of the Week. Goodness, goodness, has anyone else felt like, hmm, time has been a really wonky thing lately? Like if I look at the last four months, I'd almost feel like four months was almost like five years worth of personal and professional growth warped into four months, five years into four months, like that is how it is feeling, Like so much is coming up for us. And so today I really want us to think about trust and trusting yourself and trusting what you already know. And so here goes.

Speaker 1:

I met with someone, oh, a few weeks ago, who had been researching career coaches. She'd been researching career coaches for three months Three months of reading testimonials, three months of comparing approaches. Three months, three months of reading testimonials, three months of comparing approaches, three months of analyzing credentials. And when I asked what was holding her back from making a decision, she said I want to make sure I pick the right one. But after a few more questions, here's what I noticed She'd already made the decision, she just wasn't trusting it. Somewhere around week two she'd known Her body had relaxed when she found the coach who felt right. Her energy had shifted when she read their approach. But instead of trusting. Trusting her body was actually sending her signals. She kept gathering evidence, and it's okay.

Speaker 1:

Most of us have been trained to look for external proof before we trust our own inner intelligence. We want three more conversations or five more data points, or unanimous approval from everyone that we respect. What if the decision you think you are still making has already been made? It's already been made somewhere inside of you. This is the pattern I see constantly with leaders. They know they need to leave the job, they know this is not right, they know what feels aligned, they know what boundary needs to be set, but they don't trust themselves. They keep researching, delaying, asking for input, waiting for the perfect moment. No, delaying asking for input, waiting for the perfect moment no. After almost 20 years of watching executives navigate major decisions, guess what I've learned? Guess what I've learned from the best of the best? They trust their inner wisdom, they trust themselves, and this it's just. It's not something that you develop, it's in you, it's in you, so stop rejecting it. Those micro moves that you've been making lately, say no. Say no without over-explaining, choosing, rest without guilt, honoring what actually feels good, honoring yourself, those are not you working towards something that's you already living differently. The person you are becoming does not need permission to make aligned choices. That version of you, that version that trusts their instincts, they get to run the show now. They get to run the show now.

Speaker 1:

When I finally stopped doubting myself, when I finally stopped doubting myself, it wasn't because I felt ready. In fact, I was terrified I'm always terrified or I had proof it would work. It was because I decided that voice inside, that one that had been whispering the right moves all along, that one needed to be heard. And it wasn't until months later I was like, oh wow, I am speaking differently in meetings. I am holding myself differently in conversations. I am walking into a room and I feel grounded. I am being the person I most want to be, not because I've gathered more evidence, but because I simply decided. I simply decided this was who I am now. This is who I am now.

Speaker 1:

So that decision you've been overthinking complete the sentence Okay, ready, are you ready? Are you listening? The person I'm becoming would right whatever just came to you. That's correct. The person I'm becoming would okay one more time, for good measure. The person I'm becoming would whatever comes up first is not random. That's your answer.

Speaker 1:

Your transformation does not need your permission or your proof. You just decide it's happening. You decide You're already the person who makes a line of choices. You decide. The voice inside gets to make the call, the one that whispers believe, believe, believe, believe, trust, trust, trust, trust, believe, believe, believe, believe, trust, trust, trust, trust, trust. That voice, ready, does not feel like confidence. Ready feels like a decision this week.

Speaker 1:

What if you stopped waiting for external evidence and started trusting what you already know? What if you decided you're already someone who honors their commitments to themselves, someone who sets boundaries, someone who chooses what actually fits? So here's your micro move. Think of one decision, one decision. You've been gathering evidence, or stalling or doubting what would change if you trusted that first instinct, that first one that showed up before you started researching. You just need to decide and walk like it's already true.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes we need someone to witness the decision we've already made, but maybe we're questioning it. Right, it helps us turn that inner knowing into actual movement. That's my activation Like. Those are my activation calls. You already have the wisdom. I already see it as done like and let's move, let's move like it's already done, because you know, this is just. It keeps coming up and it keeps coming up and it keeps coming up and it keeps coming up in different ways, but it's the same thing. If you don't scratch, that itch is going to. Oh, do you want to be on your deathbed and regretting this? That I had this inner knowing and I didn't go for it? Like, is that, is that how you want this to go? I don't know about you, but I want to, on my last day, be like yes, I stepped up to the plate and I swung. Oh, I'm so proud of myself. Yeah, I failed, but every time, what is failure? Frequent attempts in learning, frequent attempts in learning. So it's actually not failing. You're just learning, you're just learning. You're just learning, you're just learning, you're just learning, You're just learning. And some of us are doing learning in public and some of us are doing learning in private. But I'm obviously here to tell you that I love learning in public because we get to share. This is what working for me, this is what's not, and if we all do that, guess what? We all get to learn. So that was a little tangent, but again, sometimes we need someone to witness a decision that we've already made and help us turn that inner knowing into actual movement, into actual movement. So, if you like my style book, an activation session, we'll combine my 20 years of well, almost 20 years of recruiting executive insight with your inner intelligence, that knowing to create the clarity to make your decision. And as of right now, I think there's one more spot left in the September 11th and 12th in the mornings Pursue your purpose. That's where we are coming together, in community, with others, to navigate this journey. That's where we are coming together, in community, with others, to navigate this journey.
