Garry

Yes, yes, it's time to pour the wine.

Amy

Yes it is.

Garry

And what do we have today?

Amy

We, I think A cab sap A cab sap? That would be very shocking. We'd love a cab sap, although we did have some Chardonnay. Yes, we did Over the weekend, so we threw in some chard again.

Garry

Yes, we did, we like a dry white on occasion.

Amy

It was perfect for like the warmer weather. Yes, when the porch, it's really good Watching everyone else's children run by.

Garry

We don't have to worry about it because ours are grown up and lately we have some really good porch weather.

Amy

Yeah, we have. We've had some really good porch weather. Can you believe we're about to review the season finale of the Chicken Sisters?

Garry

No, I cannot. It's finally here. It seems like we just started yesterday.

Amy

Spoiler alert. I just gave away what we were reviewing.

Garry

Sorry, oh, that's okay, we're going to have a lot of those spoilers.

Amy

Yeah, speaking of spoilers, that's the first one.

Amy

Yes, please head on over to the socials and let us know what you thought about the first season of the Chicken Sisters.

Garry

Yes.

Amy

I'd be curious to know everyone's thoughts. I really haven't looked up any reviews or what people are saying, I mean we've listened to a few podcasts, just to kind of see if we're on the same page sometimes. Yeah, um, but uh, other than that, I haven't really looked because I haven't wanted to taint anything and you know I didn't want to taint our we'd like to save it. Yeah, save it for the podcast because did drop what in the fall on Hallmark Plus. So a lot of people have already seen it.

Amy

Yep, and I didn't want any spoilers and I didn't read the book. You didn't read the book.

Garry

No, I did not, so we literally had no idea what was going to happen all season. No, we got some things right and we got some things wrong, yep, but overall we did a good job, I think, I think so. So today we're reviewing the season finale of season one, the Chicken Sisters the best chicken in town y'all which aired on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, may 28th 2025.

Amy

No.

Garry

May 18th. Oh sorry, my eyes did a double cross there. Spoiler alert 18th Take a sip yeah right May 18th 2025. If you missed it, you can catch it in all of the episodes on Hallmark Plus. Yes, yes. Take a sip. Take a sip Anyway so are we adding anybody to the list of actors and actresses on this one?

Amy

We are not. I believe we've covered them all.

Garry

I don't think anyone new showed up, except maybe via text to sergio, but we don't know who that is.

Amy

Oh, but we have a good idea. So okay, yeah, in season two we'll find out yeah but um, no, because I think if you want to hear the actors and actresses who are in it, go to our other episodes.

Garry

Yes, Episode one, two and three.

Amy

Yeah, at least. And then I think we sprinkled in some more, in some other episode reviews of the actors as they showed up and actresses. So there you go, yeah.

Garry

Yeah, it's hard to keep up with all of them. There were so many, there were, but you did a really good job.

Amy

There were quite a few, okay, thank you so you want to have some trivia. Let's do it, let's do some trivia I love not knowing things. Let me take a sip while you're getting ready.

Garry

Okay, go ahead, here we go, lay it on me, lay it on me, me, me, me, me. Anyway, what profession do many Hallmark movie leads often have in Hallmark movies?

Amy

and TV series. Oh, you're catching me off guard. Often have in Hallmark movies and TV series. My brain is like bleh.

Garry

What professions do they usually play? Attorney.

Amy

Chocolatiers.

Garry

We've seen a lot of those lately. Yes, we have lately.

Amy

yes, that's the first thing that comes in Advertisers, publicists I don't know, bakers, help me, yes, bakers, writers, writers, planners yes, yes, photographers. I didn't know that, yeah I couldn't think that that wasn't. You know, you put me on the spot royals, royals love me royal.

Garry

I know right, I know I know, so is it? That was that was good trivia. Yeah, it was, I thought so and I was terrible. Yeah, you did pretty good, so is it time to drop the synopsis? For season one, episode eight.

Amy

The best chicken in town, y'all. A final twist in the reality competition throws both the Mimi's and Franny's crews for a loop, and Frank Jr's true colors are revealed.

Garry

Yes, they were.

Amy

Were, I don't think it just happened in this last episode but we can discuss.

Garry

Let's just say that water is boiling over.

Amy

All right now. This is a spoiler alert.

Garry

So press pause, press pause, go watch it and then come back and listen to our podcast.

Amy

Yes, because we will, in discussing things, give some things away. We're going to talk about the end and what's sort of lingering. So press pause, go watch the season finale and then come back. That's your spoiler alert.

Garry

You've been warned.

Amy

How many times have we said spoiler. People should be. What four or five subs?

Garry

Yeah, they should be feeling pretty good right now. At least I am anyways.

Amy

Yeah, so at the end of last season we're fresh off what we thought was one of the best episodes, right?

Garry

Yes, could have been a finale there.

Amy

Yeah, we both thought it could have been a finale.

Garry

Yeah, because it was to me if they would have left Gus passed out. Yeah, Until next season. Yes, that would have been awesome.

Amy

Yep, yep. So we see. Nancy realizes that Frank Jr was the one that called the health inspector.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

Frank Jr continued to show that he's an ass.

Garry

Yes, the town rallied around Gus. Hey Right.

Amy

May and Amanda got closer. Yep, jay showed Gus hey, right, may and Amanda got closer.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

Jay showed up.

Garry

Jay For.

Amy

May rolled his sleeves up and dove right in to May's life.

Garry

He sure did.

Amy

Sabrina and Lindsey are at odds again.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

As are Frankie and Lindsey.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

And Gus lights her house on fire and collapses.

Garry

Now.

Amy

That's kind of where we are. Lighting your house on fire and letting it burn to the ground.

Garry

That's a way to start over. That could have been an awesome cliffhanger. It could have been, but you still would have had the chicken competition.

Amy

lingering, would you want?

Garry

to wait a whole season for that. That's true too.

Amy

That's true, I mean, I think that it was good enough to be a finale. I mean, we loved that episode. We weren't completely wrong, I don't think, but there was definitely things to tidy up.

Amy

And especially since they didn't know if they were getting a season two Right. So you want to wrap things up and there's a lot of places they can go still, Yep, but you definitely want to tie. I mean the series. I'm glad it's not ending, but it could have ended on the season finale because they did tie a lot of things up.

Garry

Yeah, yeah, I thought so, yeah, so.

Amy

So where do you, where would you like to start? I do have some tidbits about the differences between the book and the series, by the way. You want me to hold on to those until the end.

Garry

No, go ahead, let's bring them up, okay.

Amy

What? Um no go ahead let's, let's bring them up. Okay, go ahead. So I didn't. We already meant we didn't read the book. No, we didn't have any spoilers, but I just decided to look up what are the differences. Now that we watched the eighth, you know the final episode to see, and this is probably going to blow your mind a little bit. So amanda is widowed in the book oh frank jr is not alive really in the book, right, she's widowed.

Amy

Now I don't know how he died or if they talk about it, but and they were saying that you know frank jr on the screen kind of, adds the producer. I think was saying something like having him part of the story gives you more of a background for Amanda's. Right why she's making some decisions that she's making. So I thought, which makes sense, because the whole thing with Sergio isn't in the book either, so Huh.

Garry

Yeah, okay.

Amy

So May is married with kids.

Garry

Oh May.

Amy

But they opted not to go that route Right with kids who may. But they opted not to go that route right because this is according to the producer it would have just added that many more characters to keep up with and there's already so many and we're peeling back the layers right of everybody every episode, so, um, so I thought it was kind of cool and to give her a little, and you know, it gave her room to grow too yes, before she settles down, and so I thought that was kind of cool.

Garry

I agree with what you told me.

Amy

Now the author, kj D'Antonia. She was not involved in the adaptation because she basically has said I'm a book writer, not a screenwriter, and she sort of gave them free reign-ish. She did want it to take place in Kansas because she felt like Kansas didn't get enough. There's a lot of small towns and a lot of states but Kansas is rarely represented and she went to high school and college there and she really wanted Kansas to be represented. I thought that was pretty cool.

Garry

I think that's a.

Amy

And she was actually inspired by two chicken restaurants in Kansas where she Get out of here, where she lived, and she said her and her family went to one of them but not the other, and so she expanded on that idea and thought, I thought that was really cool.

Garry

That's pretty cool.

Amy

And season one covers the storylines in the book in their entirety. Okay, so when they move forward, they're going to take those characters that she so brilliantly wrote in the book and just go off with them and they have so many different ways they can go. So anyway, that's just a little tidbit about what I read.

Garry

That's pretty interesting.

Amy

Pretty interesting, so what? Did you think about the finale?

Garry

Oh my, God, the truth is it was flavorful.

Amy

Flavorful. Oh, okay, we're going with some. Okay, and very, very satisfying, very satisfying.

Garry

Like finger licking. Good Okay.

Amy

That's where we're going with this. I see what you're doing here. I see what you're doing here. Yes.

Garry

Finger licking good.

Amy

Yeah.

Garry

They tied up everything. I really enjoyed it.

Amy

Yeah, I really enjoyed it.

Garry

Yeah, I did too I mean there's a lot of up and down, emotions and romance. We found a lot of below the surface issues that they actually resolved. So there was some resolution yes, so what did you think?

Amy

I thought it was good. I mean, I enjoyed it for what it was. I thought it was a really good episode. I didn't think it was one of the best episodes. It was good. It was good. Okay, so we're gonna to differ in our rating. I can already tell how many quirks.

Garry

I'm going to say spoiler alert, just so I can take a sip.

Amy

Okay. So, like I said, I thought it was really good. It was satisfying as a viewer because you do see some things wrapped up. You do see some more revelations about people. Yes, I mean I think I enjoyed the series as a whole overall, just to see the growth of some of the characters and everything. So I mean, if we want to get into it, we find out, you know, right at the beginning you find out that Gus has MS.

Garry

Yes.

Amy

That's what she's not told anybody.

Garry

And she's not sleeping with Gen. And she's not she is not, so get your minds out of the gutter he's a doctor and I don't think did we see him as a doctor. No, I don't. They kept that hidden for seven episodes, well we figured he was some kind of what were we guessing like a massage therapist or something.

Amy

We just didn't know for sure. With the acupuncture, Acupuncture yeah, he is a doctor. So we find out that she has MS and she's been hiding it. And her girls, of course, Amanda and May, are shocked to find out.

Garry

Yeah, they kept that secret. Yeah, that Gen didn't say anything.

Amy

That Gen didn't say anything. Their mom didn't say anything, although I'm sure it wasn't surprising that Gus didn't spill the beans.

Garry

But the look on Amanda's face when she kind of she kind of asked like why?

Amy

and it just dawned on her because the whole town would have knew, yeah, but then second, yeah, and they get tired of being talked about and then you find out pretty much, I think, at the beginning that franny's husband og franny her husband lied yes, just like. Just like Frank Sr did Sherman.

Garry

So he lied and said he had an affair with.

Amy

Mimi. But it turns out it wasn't true, because Frankie found the letter from the real baby, daddy.

Garry

Yeah.

Amy

That's funny, yes, but we don't know who he is.

Garry

Not yet.

Amy

And then we also find out that Mimi gave the baby up for adoption so I think that leaves something open too yeah where who's the who's the baby yeah, and I think and who is it in the town? How old would the baby be, though?

Garry

that's a good question. It it would have to be a grandmother yeah, I just know yeah, and we'll get to that point where I think we find may oh, yes, oh, now I'm putting it together now you're putting it there, you go.

Amy

I didn't at the time. Okay, I'm dumb, all right, all right so anyway, so, and gus, when she's laying in bed, what is this? The gulag you're gonna you know she is so funny.

Garry

I love her man.

Amy

She is great yeah and she realizes she has to have help right because she gets. They have to put her in a wheelchair for a little bit because it's hard for her, you know, to walk which I am shocked right away.

Garry

She was okay with being put in the in the wheelchair, but I think well, she burned her house down like she's ready, but you see how she ripped off the ivs and everything she was like I think she, just in that moment, realizes, you know, she has to have help.

Amy

There's no way around it, she's got to have the help.

Garry

Well, just think about it when she was growing up, she didn't have help and she had two little kids Right. And now she's at an age where she just wants to. Hey look, y'all want to help me. Help me.

Amy

Yeah.

Garry

Which I thought was really good.

Amy

Yeah, that was really good it, yeah, that was really good.

Garry

It was a good turning point for her. Who do you want to?

Amy

kind of dive into. Let's go with.

Garry

May, may. Okay, yeah, did she come and do any revelations, do you think?

Amy

Well, I mean.

Garry

I feel like with her and Jay. I think she finally let the what's the word I'm looking for.

Amy

The control that she always had to have. Yeah, she gives it up a little bit.

Garry

Yeah, because she was kind of a control freak, Not with. You know, you need to do this, you need to do that.

Amy

Well, she kind of was she just needed to have that control of the situation. Of her life and the narrative and everything.

Garry

And maybe it was part of her show personality coming out in real life, or maybe it was vice versa, I don't know, but I felt like she really, you know, just like Gus, just let it go.

Amy

I feel like she grew the most over the season.

Garry

I mean. Amanda in this episode finally comes around you know, oh boy, did she come around and owns it.

Amy

But yeah, mae, she definitely. I mean, I just love her and Jay's relationship even more after this episode. You know, you see, Mae gets an opportunity to go back on her show. Yeah, they wanted her back. They want her back. And what does she? She tells Gus that.

Garry

Oh, my goodness, and gus.

Amy

I love the line where gus well before you know gus says something like well, I guess those fan checks are going to start coming back, which I thought was really funny.

Garry

The fan story, the fan incident that she believed she was getting money from, and there it is and there, yeah, but she said she's proud of her and may's like what she slowly turns and says what Did you just say you're proud of me. And then she spanks her on the butt.

Amy

And then Gus is like maybe I should let some of my inside thoughts come out every once and again. So that was so she's coming around, you know, I mean it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, right, and she is, she's trying. Yes, she is she's trying to not be in her own way.

Garry

She's really putting in effort, and so is May, yeah, and I think by just everybody knowing about what they already knew about. She was a hoarder, but by and now everybody knows about the MS. She doesn't have to hide it anymore and you can just tell the weight lifted off her shoulders. She's just, she's smiling more.

Amy

I mean, it's just, and can you, can we, the three women who are like the gossipy women? Of the town when the sheriff asked them about the fire do you think it's intentionally set and there would have been a time where they're because they're just dying to gossip? Right, they want to talk about it.

Garry

Right.

Amy

And they don't. They defend her.

Garry

Yes, they do.

Amy

And instead of gossiping and telling the truth, they're like must have been a lightning storm, which I thought was really kind of a cool turnaround for them also. You know, now they're still probably going to be the town gossipers, but in that moment they defended Gus and I think Gus doesn't realize how much the town really loves her, despite her exterior of hardness and they get him to agree with them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was a road like that, yeah.

Garry

That was a really good scene too, so what did you think about Jay?

Amy

Jay. I loved his exploration too. He's supposed to be, so Jay is supposed to be packing and getting the rental car right yes, a rental car or something for them to get ready to go back to New York, and while May is, doing the competition right and helping with the competition, but then you see him strolling around and and you know and the town. And what does he have? Some ice cream. Like he's just really soaking in the peace.

Garry

He's skipping rocks.

Amy

Right, right. And what do I always say? Unapologetically protect your peace.

Garry

Yes.

Amy

Right, and you don't necessarily have to go to a small town to do that. But if you live in New York City, I would imagine you know sometimes you might want an escape just for a little bit at least you know to go, but he really is liking it and he doesn't have a job to go back to anymore.

Garry

Right.

Amy

That was another revelation, right.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

In the last episodes that he quit his job.

Garry

He quit his job.

Amy

So now he's realizing hey, maybe this is pretty cool and it's so interesting to me because May couldn't wait to get out of that town.

Garry

No.

Amy

She hated that. Well, her childhood was so traumatic and she, you know, had all the things and she just wanted out and she wanted, she thought she wanted to be better and people to see her in a different light, not come from a place like that, and all he wants to do is stay there.

Garry

Right.

Amy

You know, so it's kind of cool, so, and then at the end, of course, she she barges in and she's putting her foot down saying, right, I'm staying. I know we shouldn't yeah.

Garry

Maybe not forever, but I need to be here and he pretty much he's like hold on. Yeah, wait a minute, let me speak.

Amy

Yeah, and he hold on.

Garry

yeah, wait a minute, let me speak, yeah, and he tells her I didn't pack, I didn't get the rental car yeah she kind of looks down like what, and then he goes in to tell her that you know, he, what was the one? He talked about? A blue bluebird oh the word.

Amy

I saw a bluebird. Get the, or what is it no feed the worm to its baby today, or something like that.

Garry

And in New York, all I see is pigeons eating cigarette butts. It's so true.

Amy

That was so nasty. That was nasty when you take in. Sometimes it's the little things, right, yeah. Yeah, that was pretty good and he saw the house with the for sale sign on it.

Garry

Yeah, and she kind of was like oh my God, you know that, look on her face, yeah.

Amy

So face, yeah, so there, I just love love their relationship, so it's pretty cool and he's perfect for her and she's perfect for him in a lot of ways, you know, so they're perfectly imperfect.

Garry

Right there you go, there you go. Yeah, it's pretty cool, all right.

Amy

Well, let's touch on amanda then amanda okay, she has some growth so we have to talk about the competition. We finally get some of the cooking competition and Frank Jr goads Sergio into trying to punch him and Sergio punches the wall instead. And that causes a whole thing, and in that moment Sabrina also cuts the camera off. Yes, because she has come to a realization that she doesn't necessarily want the salaciousness and she wants to do something that her daughter is proud of, and so I thought she wouldn't have done that at the beginning.

Amy

So her character has evolved too, from the beginning, you know, to the end and I don't know if it's like that in the book or not you know she does change like that.

Garry

Right.

Amy

But it's a pretty good evolution for her.

Garry

I think so. Sorry, I digressed from Amanda. Evolution for her. I think so. Sorry, I digressed from Amanda. No, no.

Amy

But yeah. So then Amanda, we see she's just had it with Frank Jr.

Garry

Oh yeah.

Amy

And then she's like I didn't stay in this relationship for you, right, I stayed for you. And she looks at Nancy.

Garry

Yeah, that was a powerful moment, and Nancy's mortified, you know.

Amy

And then Amanda and Nancy jump ship, yeah, and then Amanda and Nancy, jump ship, yeah, and they go over to Mimi's side, to Mimi's side. Yep, yep, yep.

Garry

Leaving Frank all alone.

Amy

Well, we need to go back to the letter that Frankie found.

Garry

Oh, that was so funny, because what did Frankie say when she had the letter which she found in episode seven? And then she runs?

Amy

I need a grandma summit, yeah, or something like that.

Garry

She said I need a grandmother summit. A grandmother summit, yeah, and they both looked at her like what, and so she tells him what was in the letter and lets him read it.

Amy

And Gus is like I, you you know, I knew it, yeah, and well, gus says I didn't need a letter to believe right that they didn't sleep together, that mimi didn't sleep with franny's, right husband and that, and in that moment, that changes everything. Also because they've had this long-standing 100-year-old feud for nothing. Yep, all because of the guy, because he's a man.

Garry

Guys plural.

Amy

Guys, yeah, who would rather lie about having an affair? That still blows my mind, by the way. Then be truthful. Because of what Greed?

Garry

Because they wanted to take over the other one.

Amy

They wanted the other one out of the relationship.

Garry

Well, that's what abusers do, right? Yeah, they get what's the word called.

Amy

They isolate people, isolate you Well, and that's what Frank Jr does. He tries to to Amanda Right.

Garry

So let's count the men here.

Amy

So you had.

Garry

Sherman back in 1912. Right Right, he tells Franny that he slept with Mimi, which was not true. And then you have Frank Sr who said he slept with Gus, just to get the business which was not true. Just to get the business which was not true. And now you have Frank Jr who keeps telling Amanda throughout the show that they don't need these kind of people. Yeah, you know, and when Sergio had punched the wall he told her that well, they, you know they're the ones Like they started it Gus must have told them to tell him to do that.

Garry

You know he kept trying to isolate her from her family.

Amy

From her family.

Garry

And then that's when she goes into telling Nancy that she loves her and she's proud to be her daughter. Yeah, and. Nancy says I'm proud to have you as my daughter. And then they both jump ship, jump ship.

Amy

Jump ship and they go to the other side Go to her family, I guess not the other side and they leave Frank Jr by himself. So do we want to talk about?

Garry

Frank Jr a little bit. Since we're there, let me take a sip.

Amy

Well, you broke up with him a long time ago, I know but I'm telling you he's a great actor. He is really good Because he made me hate this character. I'm telling you I hate this character.

Garry

Oh, my goodness, and hate is a big word, yeah.

Amy

So we've already touched a little bit on him and how he, you know, talks to Amanda and still tries to isolate her. He tries to tell her that you know, may kept Gus's MS from her and you don't need those, like you said, you don't need those kind of people in your life and he just, he's just an ass.

Garry

Plain and simple.

Amy

He's just you feel for him a little bit in one moment you know he talks about we find out why he got the vasectomy and it's really sad.

Garry

Yes.

Amy

You know, in a lot of ways because he didn't want to have a son that was just like him.

Garry

Right, and so he recognizes it, but he doesn't do anything about it. Yeah, I thought that was going to be a turning point, but it wasn't. But it wasn't, it was not Right, right, he actually doubled down on that, but you feel for him in that moment.

Amy

But whereas, like you know, may, she recognizes it and she's changing, yeah, she's making an effort to change.

Garry

Yeah.

Amy

And he's the opposite.

Garry

Complete opposite. Yeah, so, and who was the? Was it Maya Angelo?

Amy

Yeah.

Garry

When people show you who they are believe them, believe them.

Amy

That's one of the truest statements you can ever live by.

Garry

Actions speak louder than words.

Amy

They really really do those actions showed. Yeah.

Garry

Big time.

Amy

And you know you keep. It reminds me of. Well, first we'll talk about Frank Jr. He threw the whole series. When you think about it, he was an ass.

Garry

Yeah.

Amy

Like pretty. And then the time he tried to act nice, he was just pretending and he reverted right back. Yeah, right, so you see it in every episode. But then it reminded me of the HBO series that we watched, called the Undoing.

Garry

It was with Hugh Grant.

Amy

Nicole Kidman and he has this affair and the woman he has an affair with dies and he's accused of it.

Garry

Right.

Amy

And he says he's innocent, and all this. And I remember the it was either the producer or the director, you know. And then you get to the end of that series. Spoiler alert if you haven't seen it and you're going to watch it, pause here.

Garry

Press pause.

Amy

You find out that he actually did kill her Right and he's like a monster actually. He actually did kill her right and he's like a monster actually and but through the through, each episode, you're kind of like your brain gives him the benefit of the doubt, right, not? Just because just like that movie but you know it's like you keep saying oh, you know he's, is that him? But the, but the director was like.

Amy

We're showing you that we are showing you who he is and people didn't want to believe it. Yeah, because those episodes were dropped weekly and people were like I don't believe he did. There was this big debate online and everything, and I remember you know him saying you know, this is the problem is that, just like you said, when people show you who they are believe them because their actions are not lying. They and their words might, but their actions are not lying.

Garry

They totally were not, and their words might but their actions were not, and that's the case with Frank Jr. Yes, sorry, that was my soapbox. No, that was very good. Actually I forgot all about that movie, and you and I were both. I think you believed it more than I did. I kept going no, I don't think he did.

Amy

I was like I know he did and I kept saying but Well, no, but I went back and forth a little bit too, though I didn't totally, because then there were scenes and you're like I don't know, could he have done it? No, you know, murder so drastic.

Garry

It was crazy.

Amy

Yeah, yeah, so that so Frank Jr. Yeah, he, he didn't make any waves and they showed us who he was the whole.

Garry

The whole time.

Amy

Series and that's who he is Yep. So and I did.

Garry

I had that one moment where he talked about his vasectomy and then that was it and he doubled down so Yep, so let's talk about Lindsay and Frankie, okay, and their relationship, because I felt like that one scene where you know, throughout the show, lindsay's you know texting saying you know, hello, I want to talk to you.

Amy

Right, because they're mad at each other.

Garry

Because you know the episode prior, sabrina accidentally said you're only hanging out with her because I told you so and Frankie was upset about that. You so and Frankie was upset about that. But that scene where she grabs Frankie by the arm to go talk to her and just said look, you know, when I first got here it was this x, y and z, but now you're my friend yeah, we're friends now yeah but it you can almost see the thought in Frankie's mind that I think she wants more.

Garry

What do you mean? Like she wants?

Amy

I don't know, but the way you mean like a relationship, like a relationship. I don't know that's what I got from that. I didn't take that at all Especially, maybe, maybe in the end, but we'll talk about that. Yeah, but yeah, I don't know.

Garry

Oh, you think she wants more than just friendship, because she says what are we? Yeah, or was that at the end?

Amy

no, that was, that was them. Because, yeah, she kind of lindsey kind of put her in the friend zone and oh well, maybe I mean I don't know, maybe, yeah, I didn't think about it that way lindsey did that part really well. She did, she was so good job at that well and she's like it may have started off that, but now we've developed a real relationship slash friendship and I'm going to miss you, know I'm going to miss you.

Amy

And there's another relationship where, you know, frankie can't wait to get out of that small town, right? Because she feels like she lives in this small town and blah, blah, blah. And Lindsay hated it at first but has come to really like it. Isn't that crazy Right? Lindsay hated it at first but has come to really like it Isn't that crazy, Right?

Garry

I mean so you have that opposite.

Amy

You know like.

Garry

May and Jay.

Amy

Yeah, yeah, it totally happens. So, I guess we can come to the end. Well, towards the end, you want to go back to Amanda and Sergio? Yeah, so, Amanda and Sergio have a talk and Amanda really realizes she's been in a relationship for, you know, 18 years. Since high school, since high school and you know she needs to be by herself, not because she doesn't want to pursue something eventually with Sergio but, he reacts a little bit abruptly to that, because he says basically what he's not going to wait around, so we don't know what the story is there.

Amy

There might be more.

Garry

Right.

Amy

I think you said maybe.

Garry

Is it Well the exchange between them two? And this was after he had punched his hand. And after the contest she goes to Mimi's and he's sitting there soaking his hand, but she's telling them why she doesn't want that relationship right now, and one of the things she says is I don't want to make another mistake or a second mistake. And then that's when Sergio gets up.

Amy

Oh, you're right. And starts to walk away.

Garry

And she's like well, what are you doing? He goes, well, you just said you don't want to make the same mistake twice and he said neither do I.

Amy

Yeah, so he was on the other end of that at some point. Yeah, that's what you're led to believe. Yeah, yeah, you're absolutely right. We didn't even talk about the competition. Well, we're going to talk about it right now. So they have the competition. Yes.

Garry

So you have everybody against Frank.

Amy

Frank Jr is by himself right, himself right, and he cooks. Mr chicken is the judge and the townspeople, the townspeople all vote for mimi, mimi.

Garry

And well, the combination, right, the combination. Yeah, the chicken, the chicken sisters, and they tell their little story.

Amy

And mr chicken, which I thought, was very brilliant, but mr chicken then, even though their chicken was better, the women you can see it on his eyes when he bit into it, that juice running and then he says but chicken is more you know more than just the meat it's the guts you know, and then he talks about you know, their macho crap with, you know, with frank his little podcast. So he gives it to junior he declares frank jr the winner.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

And then Sabrina loses her mind. She's like I'm it, that's it, I'm out, I'm done. You can't possibly think that that chicken was better.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

And she just.

Garry

She dropped the mic.

Amy

Yep, she dropped the mic.

Garry

She dropped the mic Because she's had enough too. Yeah, because she said that's when she do something that her daughter would be proud of. Yes, and I thought that was some, some very good character growth from her.

Amy

She has some really good growth throughout. Yeah, yeah, and her character was so funny and at times and up and down that episode when she was hung over, I'm sorry, that's just the funniest thing I like how she went around and said.

Garry

what did she say? I quit, I, I quit, I quit.

Amy

I'm done, done, done, did she say, done, it was something, but she kept turning to everybody.

Garry

It's like I'm done, I'm done, and then she stops, she walks off camera and then she comes back and says something else and then she leaves. And Lindsay, was she, said. I can't remember what Lindsay said, but it was something.

Amy

I don't. She smiled when her mom said she quit, I can't remember what she actually said.

Garry

Yeah, that's pretty cool. She thought that was badass that her mom did that.

Amy

Yeah, that was pretty cool, yeah, and then there's Shauna.

Garry

Oh, she is probably my favorite character she's so good, she's so funny.

Amy

She's so funny because she talks to Mr Chicken and she's like like she's all into him and he's eating it up right like he thinks she is into him and he is like oh, she wants my advice and he gives her all this advice, and then you find out she was using him to get the information which is so good.

Garry

If there's a badass in this show is her. Was she. She played it to the T when she came walking in, when the singing went back to Mimi's. They're packing up Because of course, they didn't win.

Amy

They didn't have money. It's Gus Nancy and. Amanda Mae? Yeah, I think Everybody but Frank Jr, basically yeah.

Garry

And they're packing up and in comes Shauna and she's like do y'all need some help? And Nancy turns around to go hand her a box and she goes no, not that kind of help.

Amy

And everybody was like what?

Garry

And then she goes I'm talking about money. And then Gus says something like what did Gus say? I don't know. Like where in the world did you find some money? But come to find out she's rich, yep, and she starts to talk about she worked 15 jobs, she moved to Maranac because of the low cost of living.

Garry

And she said this is only my checking account. And when May looked at it, may was like you know how much? Because she said how much money do you need? And then May was like you don't ooh that much.

Amy

It's a lot of money and she goes, that's my checking.

Garry

That's my business checking account. I have a savings too and the look on everybody's face.

Amy

I love when she says I want a franchise. I already talked to the mayor because we play pickleball Like she's got an in with everybody in the city. He doesn't know how to dink, so he owes me a favor.

Garry

That's right.

Amy

And so he's going to allow franchises on Main Street which I thought was really cool.

Garry

He lifted the ban he lifted the ban.

Amy

And then she says something like I'm the shark, I'm your shark, and she goes I'm your angel shark. And then she said something like shark with an angel, angel with a halo.

Garry

Shark with a halo?

Amy

Yeah shark with a halo, not shark with an angel. Yeah, or an angel with a fin.

Garry

Yes, pick your poison, you pick your poison.

Amy

I thought it was so good.

Garry

And she said from where I stand. We already have two franchises.

Amy

I just love the way that storyline came around, because she was really schmoozing up Mr Chicken, you think is she really into him, because he's kind of you know because she asked him.

Garry

she goes, so is it? What's up with Mrs Chicken?

Amy

Yeah.

Garry

And he's like can I tell you a secret? This is, there isn't a Mrs Chicken, it's called marketing.

Amy

Marketing.

Garry

She goes oh, she's kind of like that. She soaked it up like a biscuit, she did. She got all that knowledge from him, she really did.

Amy

I think, and you know she was making when you're that miserable in your life because she says something like I haven't been happily married for a long time and when you're just going through the motions, you make decisions that aren't the best sometimes, and everybody makes mistakes. So I think it was good that they kind of gave her the end where she's like I need to hold up, I need to get my life together, I need to be on my own for a minute.

Garry

And she kicks Junior out the house.

Amy

And you can kind of see why she made some decisions that she did. So I thought it was a good evolution of her character?

Garry

It sure was Also.

Amy

So at the end we see Sergio gets a text from someone that we don't know.

Garry

Probably his ex-wife, I think.

Amy

I made a mistake. I miss you. We don't know who that is.

Garry

We see Frankie auditioning for college. Which was pretty cool, yeah, and Amanda was there.

Amy

Gus took Nancy up on her offer to live with her which was amazing for Gus.

Garry

That was a fun scene too.

Amy

Good for Gus. And then the pastor comes to take out Nancy she gets a love, she gets what.

Garry

Nancy has a little boyfriend now. Well, we think she's like we're just going to bingo, yeah.

Amy

May has a realization after looking at a picture.

Garry

Yes, she says that's grandma, grandma Jarvis.

Amy

That's grandma Jarvis, and then she has some realization, which might be the baby. The baby that was given up for adoption, so that's going to be interesting.

Garry

Yes.

Amy

Amanda kicks Frank Jr out. Praise the Lord and smartly decides that she needs to be on her own for a while.

Garry

Yep.

Amy

May and Jay decide to stay.

Garry

Yes In.

Amy

Maranac and help the family Yep and Chicken Sisters opens. Yep, yep, they're the Chicken Sisters now. So it's a combination of Mimi and Franny's. Yep Yep, they're the Chicken Sisters now, so it's a combination of Mimi and Franny's Yep Right, and Frank Jr opens his restaurant with Mr Chicken called Mr Chicken's Cluckery.

Garry

In the Pancake.

Amy

House, in the Pancake House, wherever.

Garry

Yep, yep.

Amy

And that I kind of thought that that was going to happen, that he was going to hook up with him, him but it didn't dawn on me until they actually showed it. Yeah, I wasn't thinking about that. Yeah, yeah, that was really good. So it was a really good wrap-up of everything and there's a lot open. I mean, they can go so many places and I really hope I hope sabrina is back as a character. Shauna's got to be back Along with everybody who the main characters are. So I would love to see I'm hoping like Sabrina comes back to film, something Like she's doing a different type of show or something.

Garry

I think there's going to be a love relationship with Gruster. Oh, gruster, yeah, he brought her a little travel bag, a little travel bag he's into those little what did? He ask her and she said I'm just trying to get my life fixed. And he said I'm good at fixing things yeah, yeah, she said, oh okay. Yes.

Amy

So I think there's something there. I think there's something there. Yeah, so, so Whew, out of five corks, how many corks would you give this episode?

Garry

I'm going to give it five. I have to.

Amy

I thought it was good. I'm going to give it a four because I thought it was good but I wasn't like blown away, but I thought it was a really good wrap up of things. I would give the series a five.

Garry

Right, for sure that's fair. That's fair, you know sometimes I'm fair. Sometimes I'm not. I just felt like we learned a lot yeah we did. And a lot of answers. So, anyway, is that a wrap?

Amy

That is a wrap.
