Welcome to Pour the Wine. It's romcom time where we'll sip some wine and review all things romcom on the Hallmark channel. I'm Amy.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Gary.
SPEAKER_00And we are gonna get right to it today, I think, right?
SPEAKER_01Yes, we are. Let's do this.
SPEAKER_00All right, let's do it. Let me take a sip first.
SPEAKER_01Oh, go ahead. Be my guest.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's been a long day. Today we're reviewing Three Wisest Men. It aired on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, November 15th, 2025. And you can catch it right now on Hallmark Plus. The Plus. The Plus.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And we would love it if you would click that follow button so you don't miss any of our favorite podcasts.
SPEAKER_00Click it, click it.
SPEAKER_02Yes. You can watch us or listen to us on Apple or Spotify. And you can now watch us on YouTube.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02If you're in the video.
SPEAKER_00We're also on the TikTok.
SPEAKER_02We're on TikTok too. Yeah, we are getting crazy with the cheese whiz.
SPEAKER_00You can send us an email to pour the wine. It's romcom time at gmail.com and let us know what you think about the final movie in the trilogy, the three wise men trilogy, or anything hallmark related. We're heavy into countdown to Christmas right now. Yes, we are. There have been so many great things. There's been lots of content. So we're we're enjoying watching everything, although we don't have time to review everything, but we're we're doing the best we can.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we are.
SPEAKER_00We're doing the best we can right now.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01So if you want to, tell us who's in this one.
SPEAKER_00Dulce is in this one. Returning favorites. Let's talk the Brenner Brothers first.
SPEAKER_01Brenner Brothers.
SPEAKER_00Paul Campbell plays Stefan. He has starred in more than 20 Hallmark movies, including The Santa Class. All now three wise men movies, Falling Together, The Nine Kittens of Christmas, and The Santa Steak, the Santa Stakeout, just to name a few.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_00Tyler Hines plays Taylor. See, that messes me up a lot. I know. Was that purposeful? Probably not.
SPEAKER_02I think so.
SPEAKER_00He is, of course, a ginormous Hallmark fan favorite. Like Paul, Tyler has been in more than 20 Hallmark productions. We just saw him in Christmas Above the Clouds a few weeks ago.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00He was also in the other two wise men movies. He was in last year's holiday touchdown, a Chiefs love story. I wanted to say chefs. I almost said chefs today. I don't know what's going on with me. All three Groomsman movies, which are great if you've never seen them. And we just watched Never Been Chris, which we really enjoyed. That was really cute.
SPEAKER_02That was really cute.
SPEAKER_00With Tyler. And of course, we loved him in An Unexpected Christmas, also. That was with uh Bethany Joylens, I think. That's another really cute one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00There you go. Check them out. Andrew Walker plays Luke. He has been starring in Hallmark movies for more than a dozen years. We just saw him in October in Adventures in Love and Burning, and we loved that movie. That was a really good movie. If you have not seen it, go check it out. We love Andrew Walker as Luke in the three wiser men movies, but he is so, so good in that movie with Rachel Boston. Yeah. And you need to go check it out. He was also in the Reluctant Royal earlier this year.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00He's in another one of our faves, Jingle Bell Run. Yes. He's been in all three now the third wise men movies. He will be in two more Countdown to Christmas movies this year in 2025.
SPEAKER_02Busy man.
SPEAKER_00He makes a cameo in Holiday Touchdown, a Bill's Love Story, which airs on Saturday, November 22nd. Coming up. That's coming up. And he's also in She's Making a List with Lacey Shaber, and that will air on Saturday, December 6th. We're really looking forward to those two. Awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we are.
SPEAKER_00It's been a busy season. It's coming. Margaret Collins plays Barbara, the Brenner Brothers' mom. She was in the first two movies as well, of course. I can't not mention that she is in the original Three Men and a Baby. I have to mention it every time we talk about her, where she played Rebecca, Peter's girlfriend. And Peter, of course, was played by the legendary Magnum P.I. himself, Tom Selleck.
SPEAKER_02Isn't that so funny? Also, returning up in this.
SPEAKER_00Say what?
SPEAKER_02I just love it how she ends up in this.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. She very, very, very good casting. Yes. Don't you think? All around, but her for sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So cool. So cool that they got her in this. Also, returning in this movie are Nicole Major as Sophie. That is Luke's girlfriend, right? Or are they married?
SPEAKER_01They're you know, that's a good question.
SPEAKER_00I know. I can't, you don't know, I don't know. Somebody'll tell us. Somebody'll tell us. Miles Marthaler returns as Thomas. Erin Carpluck returns as Caroline.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00Fiona Vroom, we see her again as Susie. Matt Hamilton comes in as Mark, the neighbor. Allie Liebert comes back in this one as Fiona. She was in the first one only, I believe. Right. Correct? Right.
SPEAKER_03Why not?
SPEAKER_00Christopher Shire shows up towards the end as Roy. Kimberly Susted, of course, as Dr. McLaren. She's so great. I know she's a good thing. I love her a little. It's almost like a cameo, but I mean, you know, she wrote it. It's so great. And then joining the cast this year is Lachlan Munro. He plays Bob, Susie's dad.
SPEAKER_02Uh oh.
SPEAKER_00Uh oh. With a bird. With a bird. You want to talk about the direct directing and writing?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sorry for that little pause. I was just I was thinking about the bird.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_02You were thinking about Jerry's bird, right? Jerry Bird. Jerry.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was named Jerry.
SPEAKER_02And Tom and Jerry. Anyhow, the three wisest men was directed by Terry Ingram. This is Terry's 101st directing credit. Man, that's a lot of directing credit.
SPEAKER_00That's awesome. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02His hallmark work is expansive. Just a few include the other two wise men. Oh, very cool. I know. Journey to You, My Argentina, Heart, and Happy Holidays.
SPEAKER_00Howladays.
SPEAKER_02Love on the Danube Love Song, Retreat to You, and 18 episodes of Chesapeake Shores. Whenever we're going to be able to do that, I always love it when TV series.
SPEAKER_00You talk about the directors and the writers because I realize there's so many that we you know it coordinates with the movies and series that we love, right? So I I always know why we like movies so much.
SPEAKER_02I know. And this, you know, it's something that I never used to pay attention to, but now I do.
SPEAKER_00Now you do. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So this was written by Paul Campbell, Kimberly Susted, and Russell Halen. Or Hay Line, sorry. Hainline Paul Campbell. He has seven writing credits, and they're all for Hallmark. All three wise men movies. Myra Mora's Lighthouse. Mariah's, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00No, probably Mora.
SPEAKER_02Mariah's.
SPEAKER_00You know what? I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02Well, whatever it is, please correct us. Christmas at Castle Heart and Unexpected Christmas and Christmas by Starlight. Kimberly Sustad, she has four writing credits, and they're also all for Hallmark. Hallmark.
SPEAKER_00Talking is hard today as my. I know.
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_00We've both I had some.
SPEAKER_02They include all three wise men movies and Christmas by Starlight. So they do a lot of collaborations.
SPEAKER_00Collaboration, yeah, it's cool.
SPEAKER_02Uh Russell Haylein. Russell has uh nine writing credits, seven of which are for Hallmark. Hallmark, I keep saying Hallmark. This year's Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper. He also wrote the Santa class, Christmas Under the Lights, Three Whitest Men and a Boy, and this is the Santa Summit in The Measure. Merry Measure. You got through it. You got through it. It's been one of them days, right?
SPEAKER_00You got through it. It's fine.
SPEAKER_02All right. So do you want to drop this or not?
SPEAKER_00I sure will. Three siblings deal with personal changes and their mother's decision to sell the family home before Christmas. Between in-laws, wild animals, and a mall Santa, they try to make the holidays perfect.
SPEAKER_02The Mall Santa Claus.
SPEAKER_00The Mall Santa.
SPEAKER_02I like Mall Santa Claus.
SPEAKER_00And the Mall Elf.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02And an elf he is. So we have to tell you we do drop spoilers. So if you haven't watched this movie yet, please stop the podcast, go watch it, and then come back, listen to ours or watch ours on YouTube, and tell us what you think, or you can do it in reverse. Watch it or listen to it, then go watch the movie. The choice is yours.
SPEAKER_00The choice is all yours.
SPEAKER_02That's right. So you ready to dive into it?
SPEAKER_00I'm ready to dive into it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So what did you think?
SPEAKER_00What did you think? You want me to go first?
SPEAKER_02Yes, I do.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I I mean, what a great way to wrap up the trilogy, right? You know, it sticks to the formula that's worked so well and made this entire series shine, really, you know, life, the whole idea that life is usually perfectly imperfect, and that's okay. Yes, you know, you have ups and you have downs. I love that the opening mirrors, you know, the earlier films with Luke facing his reflection and reciting his what affirmations each time. And it just shows I love that they kind of followed him on his journey. Like the first one, he's real buff, right? He's, you know, looking in the mirror real confident. And then in this, in you know, three, three wiser men and a boy, he's all disheveled because now he's a parent and you know what it's like running around. And it's just it's so cute. And then this one, of course, they're having a baby, so he's doing the Lama stuff. I just, I just love that opening. And right away, you're kind of you know drawn into it, it's like a family you're going back to, right? You know, again. So I just love that the sharp banter, the chaotic hijinks, the brothers bickering, only to find their way back to each other, the mom being the glue holding everything together, and then real life weaving in and out of all of that. It's just all of it landed perfectly for me. So what do you think?
SPEAKER_02I don't think I can say it any better. Gosh, that was awesome. No, I was gonna talk about the mirror uh scenes, and I love how on the third one it was different from the first two. It was like you said, it was more of the um laws or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like the breathing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the breathing. Yeah, and it and you're right, in the first one he was all buff, and the second one he was confident, the second one. Yeah, and the third one. But I also like how they kept to each of the characters and how they each had some personal like um challenge. You know, uh Paul or um Stefan, he he was he's shy, indecisive, always getting in his way. You have Luke who you know he he wants to have every everything in order, but yet he struggles with it.
SPEAKER_00You have uh he's like the caretaker, also he's like the caretaker, right? He's like the care because he took care of his little brothers, he wants to make sure everything's okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then you have Taylor who I mean, he could have any job he wants, but he just doesn't he doesn't take the opportunity because he doesn't want to leave his family.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I really enjoyed, and I and I'm glad they stuck to the the character path.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and and you know, Taylor delivering the one-liners, the witty banter, he's like the funny one, but he admires his brothers, you know, and they always have this come together where they talk, have a deep conversation. So yeah, which I'm sure we'll get into.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So it was a good, you know, a great, a great, I want I don't want to say end, but you know, it's the final movie in the trilogy for now, maybe. But yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right. Well, I hope they have another one.
SPEAKER_00I think I think it I think maybe somewhere down the road eventually.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, yeah. So you want to get into favorite scenes?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's talk about favorite scenes. What's one of your favorite? Okay, I have to start. I'll let you go first this time.
SPEAKER_02I have to start off with the uh the Pinterest Family Center baby class.
SPEAKER_00The oh yeah. Or Pine, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Is it Pine?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't think it was Pinterest. I think it was Pine, yeah, something.
SPEAKER_02Well, I just thought it was so funny because it was um it was Luke and um Sophie. Sophie. I thought it was so funny because I mean that's not your normal teacher, right? She's coming right out of the gate saying how you know how crazy it is to have all these kids, all these kids. And the the thing that really made me laugh was that her husband was there in the back and he was holding like three children, and she called him what, Tom, and his name is Tim.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he has to correct his own wife.
SPEAKER_02I just thought that was so funny. And Luke was like, oh my god, what did I get myself into?
SPEAKER_00But you're right. That and it's so great because you know, everybody you go to these classes, and you know, the women who lead it, I mean, and it's great, and they're all like, it's a beautiful thing, and parenting is the best, and you know, and that's what they usually say, and I just love how it kind of flips it on its head a little bit, and it's like, no, it's hard. Yeah, you know, kids drive you nuts sometimes, you know. And then when they do show the dad, and all like all three babies are crying at once, that's life, you know, it's not all roses and they try. So I you're right. It was a really good scene in that they sort of flip the script, right? Yeah, like if you were the teacher and you could really say how it how it is, you know, people who are being real with you and giving you realistic expectations, although she was over the top, but you know, of course, she was very over the top. Oh, well, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But but then later on in the show, they're shopping, Sophie and him, and she's all like going with the flow, and she's like, What's wrong? And he's like, uh, I don't want to end up like Tim or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he was fixated on yeah, because Tim, the dad and the the the classes, right, the class teacher's husband, he's all like disheveled. He's holding two babies, one in the back, two in the front. He's you know, he can barely open his eye. Yeah, it is so good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So what was one of yours?
SPEAKER_00Um, one of my favorite scenes was sort of at the beginning when um Taylor first gets home. He's been to California, right, to interview for a job or or find out about a job. Right. So he he's been out there in San Francisco and he gets home and he comes in the house. And I just love the scene. Thomas runs to him. Right. You know, the family keeps going, well, how did it go? And he keeps kind of avoiding it. And there's all this like sort of family chaos going on around, you know. And I just, you know, and that's when Thomas, you know, throws a piece of paper at them and it's the flyer, the house is on sale. So er, you know, all the attention gets diverted off of Taylor. I almost said Tyler, Taylor, in that moment. And he's, you know, because now they're focused on the fact that their mom is selling the house. And I just thought it was just such a realistic look at life, you know, and you walk in, there's a million things going on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's kind of chaotic.
SPEAKER_00It's not all, yeah, and it and the the chaos of life. So that that was one of my my favorite scenes. And then of course, when they find out she's selling the house, both both um Luke and Tyler Taylor. Luke and Taylor look at Stefan because they're ready for him to pass out. Right. Right. Because that's what he normally does in high, you know, like stress situations like that. He almost can't handle it. So and he's like, What? I'm fine. So that whole first that that whole scene wasn't the first scene, but that whole scene I went.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, that that was good. I really like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was really good. Well, so what was another one for you?
SPEAKER_02Oh, there were so many. Uh I know, I know.
SPEAKER_00It was so there really were that you want to just talk about, huh?
SPEAKER_02I have to go with the medieval Christmas with Yes, that was really good.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you're jumping like, okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, you know, these are my favorite scenes. Yeah, you I know there was a lot before that, but these are some these are mine. These are mine. I'll be my favorite scenes. Come on now. Let me have my favorite scenes.
SPEAKER_00You're fine, you're fine, you're fine. They're your favorite scenes. You're not gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02But I just love how they I don't know who the costume or set designer was, but yeah, kudos for you making the swords out of the wrapping paper.
SPEAKER_00The wrapping paper. Yeah, I had that in my notes. They're wrapping paper swords.
SPEAKER_02Such a fun scene. And the sound effects that Luke and um Stefan were making like sword sounds. Zing!
SPEAKER_00Zing. Yeah, they're so funny.
SPEAKER_02And then it shows them at the end laying on the floor like they had just gone to war or something.
SPEAKER_00Well, they had with each other, right?
SPEAKER_02They told Thomas it was a Brenner Brother tradition.
SPEAKER_00To do the medieval Christmas, yes, yes. So and I like, you know, that's part of the continuity between the movies also, because remember they did the tenth thing for Thomas in the second one. And so that was that was really cool that they did that. I mean, they had to have had so much fun doing that.
SPEAKER_02I wish they would release bloopers.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_02I bet you they're so funny.
SPEAKER_00They probably are so good.
SPEAKER_02Goodness. I would love to see them. So what about you? What was another one of yours?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I really liked when, you know, we kind of talked about the banter um just between Taylor and his brothers. He just really brings it, you know, throughout the whole movie, and I won't go into specifics, but you know, the one scene um I was just looking for it where so Stefan has to stay at his mom's also. Taylor still lives at his mom's. Stefan has to stay there. I I also liked that part of the story where all three brothers, well, Taylor lives there, but the two other brothers end up at the house, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Because um Stefan has they have like a leak in the roof, and then um Luke and Sophie, she's close to giving birth, and with Luke working, their mom wanted them to move in just so you know she could kind of watch over her for a little bit. So they're all back in the house for one last Christmas. And I love when Stefan goes to the basement and his and Taylor's banter was so good. You know, he's like, basement's ours, since when? Since now, says who, says me. How is that fair? And then they both yell for their mom. They're like, Mom, you know, and they're adult men, you know.
SPEAKER_01And she says, work it out.
SPEAKER_00That's still yeah. And then she yells, work it out, like a mom would, like just figure it out. Like she's probably been saying since they were, you know, five or whatever. So I just I thought that was really cute. And then they work it out by rock, paper, scissors. Oh my god. So I just I thought that was really cute. I love the scene where they're getting ready to go shopping. And I was like, is that a little Christmas vacation hint? Yes, you know how the whole family goes. It's gotta be. But then that scene leads into Stefan thinking that's the whole bird scene. Right. Right. The bird, he thinks the bird is dead, which I mean, do birds do that? I don't even know.
SPEAKER_02I I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Do they I mean if they do, that'd be pretty funny. So the bird acts like it's dead, Stefan doesn't know what to do, the bird flies away, and that becomes a whole thing in the movie. And I thought that was really cute. And the fact that that's probably hopefully maybe a nod to Christmas vacation, you know, we love because that is just obviously one of our all-time favorites, right?
SPEAKER_02I guess it is.
SPEAKER_00Do you have any other favorite scenes?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um, the the whole rodent scene, because I have that also, yeah. The Brenner brothers, you know, they they instead of chopping down a tree, they go to some back alley uh tree store. Uh what was his name? I can't even remember the guy's name.
SPEAKER_00Oh gosh, I didn't write that down.
SPEAKER_02I can't remember it yes. Buy a tree from this guy, and then you know, the whole family's there. Um, Sue's dad's there, and all of a sudden he says uh Sue's dad says, Rodent, and they all look and like, what? And come on now, that's a Christmas vacation.
SPEAKER_00That is a total Christmas vacation moment.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So then the scene just goes into a chaotic mess, and everybody's running around, the tree falls down. Um Luke is chasing it, right? He thinks he gets bit, but he steps on it. You come to find out he steps on an ornament. But then that's when um uh Taylor, I wanted to say Tyler, but Taylor's ex-girlfriend comes in. And it the funny part of all that is Taylor and his girlfriend, Caroline, are eating popcorn while everybody's freaking out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're watching all the chaos go on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and and then when Fiona comes in, uh Taylor's old girlfriend, he like faints.
SPEAKER_00He he's the one who passes out stuff in this this movie. It's actually Taylor.
SPEAKER_02That was so funny. The popcorn goes up in the air. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00That's cute. Yeah, love this scene. I had that also as one of the scenes I thought was just so great. So great.
SPEAKER_02Okay, what about another one? You have any more?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I have a few.
SPEAKER_02I know there's so many.
SPEAKER_00I I know because it just all works so well together. And it does.
SPEAKER_02It does.
SPEAKER_00And and they're favorite scenes for different reasons. Like the next one I'll mention is when they so they end up at the hospital, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, the hospital scene isn't that's a good scene too, but that wasn't the one I was gonna talk about. But um Taylor because he fell and bumped his head, and Susie's dad because he thought he was bitten by the rodent, right, or by the guinea pig, or whatever it was, and they he ended up that ended up not being the case. But then so after they're there, the the boys go home, right? So they're going home from the hospital. Susie is upset with Stefan because she finds out he was the one who actually he's the reason why the bird escaped, right? And he didn't tell her. Caroline is upset with Taylor because Taylor didn't say that Fiona was working at the place that offered him a job.
SPEAKER_02Out in Silicon Valley, yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_00So she's kind of she's upset with him. And then I'm trying to think if Luke Sophie was there at that. Uh maybe not.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't remember.
SPEAKER_00But I think Luke is there because they talk about because they they talk with their mom then, right? And Taylor admits, you know, he's moving, but he doesn't want to move, and they have this sort of great moment.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And then they all hug. The hugging scene was really cute, and then they go shopping, right? And now we have product placement of home goods, home goods, home goods.
SPEAKER_02Oh, oh my goodness, what a shout out!
SPEAKER_00Which is great, you know, it's like that was kind of like a funny, like a self-own kind of thing, you know, where they obviously home goods is sponsoring it a little bit, and you know, and so it's all over there, and then they, you know, and who doesn't love home goods? I mean, I know we do, so great product placement. And of course, then that leads into the star on the tree. Hello, that was so cool.
SPEAKER_02The way they did that, the way they did it was awesome, man. How they how Steph and Luke lifted up uh Taylor.
SPEAKER_00Taylor. Well, he just goes and stands in front of the tree and holds it, and then they know to lift him up. It was just so, so cute. And you're totally believing the story. That's why the casting is so great, right? Like they're brothers, and and you know, of course, you read articles about how they're all close anyway now, probably largely due to the series. Um, so I just thought, yeah, that was that was cool. Do you have any other favorite scenes?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I the garage beer scene.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I'm glad you're bringing that out because that would be another one for me.
SPEAKER_02Because what's so funny is in the first two movies, when they use the van to kind of talk and tell each other that they're sorry and they love each other, and this time it was the garage with beers, which I thought was kind of funny. I thought it was a good name, you know, uh garage beer. Garage beers. Yeah, because Taylor and and Stefan see Luke in there. Well, actually, they're they're like, let's go get let's go get a beer in the garage. And they are all sitting there around and they talk about how they they're sorry and they love each other, and then they talk about how they're gonna help each other fix the issues that they're having.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02So that I thought that was a really good scene.
SPEAKER_00I I do too. I totally agree. I had that as one of my scenes also, and you just described it perfectly. They they're having issues, each one is having their own issue, right? And then they talk about what they're gonna do to resolve it for each one, and and that's where Taylor's character kind of complements the other two, like he's done, you know, in the previous films. He's sort of the one who comes in and says, Hey, you know, I admire you for this, and you're great for this. And you know, so it it's such a great that's I like like you mentioned that they did it a little differently. It's the same concept, but a different location, right? You know, and slightly differently done. So I I thought that was great. Yes. I like that also.
SPEAKER_02What about you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the other one, of course, when they walk into the mall with their Christmas suits, you know, the whole also the whole they're trying to get this toy right for Thomas because he kept stalling on what he wanted and they finally find out, and they walk into the mall. That I wonder if that was a shout-out to sort of jingle all the way if somebody likes that movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Phil Hartman and Rita Wilson, which is a really cute movie. Um, because it's about a little boy who wants this toy and the dad has forgotten to Mighty Mech, I think it was then it's too late, huh?
SPEAKER_02Mighty Mech, I think the toy was called.
SPEAKER_00Well, that was in this movie, yeah. The other one, it was something different. So yeah, so I wondered if that was a play on Jingle all the way a little bit. Maybe, maybe not. I don't know. But anyway, so then they go into the mall, right? And they're all in these the Christmas suits, but Mark the neighbor is in a gingerbread outfit. So I mean that was just so character, so well character driven, you know. Uh so that when they're walking through in slow motion, and then the whole scene where Taylor's on the phone, but he they're in the ball, the other two are in the ball pit and he just is chomping at the bit and he's trying to get off the phone, right? He's like, gotta go, okay, might he can't wait to get in. He's like, I leave you alone for three minutes, you know, or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that that was funny.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean they're really good.
SPEAKER_02They're fighting this woman over the toy in a ball pit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02How funny is that? So what else? You have any more?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I could talk about others, but I I think that's a good without talking about every scene. I like that um, you know, we saw some recurring characters come back.
SPEAKER_02Yes. You know, you had sure did.
SPEAKER_00Dr. McLaren, right?
SPEAKER_02Dr. McLaren, we had Mr. B.
SPEAKER_00Mr. B came back, who you recognized I did not at first. Because I was like, that has to be somebody. I can't figure it out. And you figured it out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he was the um the school director in the first movie. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yep. And or the second movie.
SPEAKER_02Was it the second one?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because they were because Thomas was older, a little bit older. Yeah. Right. Yeah. But and then um Fiona.
SPEAKER_02Fiona, yeah. Fiona's back.
SPEAKER_00And Mark.
SPEAKER_02And Mark, Mark, I love Mark.
SPEAKER_00I know he's so good. He's what does he say? What's up, nerds, or something like that, or a nerd.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know what's so funny going back to that one scene with the pool ball, the uh pool full of balls, is you see Mark walking out with one of the toys, the Mighty Mech toys. Yeah. And I'm thinking, oh wow, he just took that for himself. But really, and we'll get to it at the end, I'll bring it back up. But I I thought he was like, oh wow, he just walked out of there with one.
SPEAKER_00He does walk.
SPEAKER_02Left everybody else fighting for him, right? But yeah, that that was and and the other cool thing is I like how they kind of like you said with the garage scene, they changed it up. It wasn't in the in the van. The mirror scene at the beginning with Luke, that was different. And then when they were in the mall and they were fighting with Mr. B the elf and all the candy canes kind of and the whole set came crashing down, kind of like in the second movie.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Oh, yes. Like the oh, I didn't even think about that. Yes, so like the tech like the um school show.
SPEAKER_02Like the school show.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I I didn't even think about that. You're right, you're right.
SPEAKER_02But you know, Mr. B is just living, right? Because it's the second time it's happened to him. So yeah. So it was really good. It was really good. So you want to jump into cheers?
SPEAKER_00Sure, we can jump into cheers.
SPEAKER_02All right, what you got? What you got?
SPEAKER_00Oh, what I got, what I got. I mentioned it at the beginning. You know, families and relationships are perfectly imperfect, and that is captured so brilliantly with you know, all of the wit, the humor, and the heart throughout really all three movies. I mean, this is the culmination, right? Mm-hmm of the whole series. Three wise men, three wise men and a baby really took Hallmark by storm and in fact was the most watched movie when it came out in 2022. Wow. And they sort of, you know, broke some norms. You don't have these perfect relationships. You don't have, you know, like I I was reading an article where they were talking about in this movie in particular, where, you know, Taylor and um Caroline, they're gonna move to San Francisco, but they're not married. And that never used to be seen, you know, in the past. I mean, it seems odd to us now, but it it it wasn't that long ago that that was, you know, that that was not the norm, you know, on Hallmark.
SPEAKER_03It wasn't.
SPEAKER_00So I just I just like it. The writing is so good. You know, it's it's all of it, the formula works. They found this formula, and you know, I'm I'm sure they probably, you know, maybe they hoped it would be a hit, but it just it just really worked. It's real life, it's families arguing. Not all siblings are on the same timeline. You know, you don't get a job, then you know, go to college, get a job, get married, have kids, your life is great. You know, it doesn't always work out that way. It's not always linear like that. And I like that they show that, you know, I relationships can be hard and messy, but also beautiful. So I just I I just think it's really well done. And and yeah, it's a little, you know, hijink some of it, right? Like a little bit over the top, some of it, but it it works, it's not too much. It's right, it's well done. It's not cheesy, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I yeah, I don't find it cheesy at all, really.
SPEAKER_02Me either.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So what about you? What's one of your biggest cheers?
SPEAKER_02Um, I I just loved how they just like I said earlier, they kept everything all three uh movies flowed together. And I just like how they kept the characters the same. I like how they kept the in the the little, you know, the issues that they were having, they kept them the same. I just, you know, it I felt like um the whole family dynamic, how they stuck up for each other, and when that scene where Barbara is, you know, uh Susie's dad is going in on Stefan and Barbara just had enough, and in a polite but very like stern, commanding way, told him, Your daughter, in a sense, your daughter is lucky to find a man like my son.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02And I thought it was such a great scene.
SPEAKER_00Right, because she's like, he has a bigger heart than all of us combined. Like he's he he may not be the outdoorsman that you want. But yeah, that scene was really, really good.
SPEAKER_02Really good.
SPEAKER_00And she did she and what's funny is before that she had been like, we're gonna have a normal and nice dinner. Like she's like scolding the kids, you know, like, look, we're gonna sit down for dinner and it's gonna be normal and nice, you know.
SPEAKER_02And you could just I could just picture my mom saying something like that too. Yeah, we're gonna say we're gonna enjoy this meal family and normal.
SPEAKER_00Got it? Yes, nice, and then you know, of course, Tyler at dinner is like it's nice and normal, right? You know, yeah, it would've so you have any more chicks? Oh my gosh. Um I'm not sure a different trio of brothers would have worked. They all just the chemistry between the three of them is is so, so good. It's like magic on the screen, right? The three of them when they're together. And the way they just each you've talked about it, the way they each embodied the their character, you know, they're from the same family, but they're all so different. And it was just, it was just really well done.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then, you know, my uh my final cheer, although I probably would have more, you know, if I could talk all night, but um, you know, you're never too old for a pep talk from your mom. No, right? Like they the three of them get a really good pep talk from their mom, and it's just such a cool moment, you know, and when it's when kind of like about their dad, you know, he didn't leave because of you, he left because of him, you know. So, and you guys are nothing like that. And she really, you know, how you know, kind of puts it into them that you know, they're ten times the man he was, and you know, so I just I just thought that that was really, really good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I like I said, I really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Did you have any other cheers?
SPEAKER_02Just in in when um they were at the hospital and Sophie has the uh the babies and they're they're getting married, and and I just this is where I thought Mark was a cool dude. He the toy he took in the one scene with the pool balls, yeah, he puts it on the floor for Thomas. No one's watching. He he's in a Santa Claus suit and he just puts it there and walks out. And I just thought that was very cool because when Thomas noticed it, notices it, he really thinks Santa Claus, he Santa Claus heard him and Santa Claus delivered.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02His toy.
SPEAKER_00And the Brenner brothers don't know who did it.
SPEAKER_02Right. They don't they're like, did you do it? Right. I didn't do it. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was a really good that was cool.
SPEAKER_02So that that were those were my cheers.
SPEAKER_00Now I will say we did um we did watch the extended cut. We watched it first um live, right, when it aired. And then when you watched it on Hallmark Plus, there's a slightly different ending. So we'll talk about that. And you know, if you haven't seen that and you want to go watch it, press pause, go watch it, and then come back. But I actually liked that ending better.
SPEAKER_02Oh man.
SPEAKER_00I I liked maybe I I won't go into detail, but I I really liked the way that ended.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, the the the ending that we got to see, you know, when it aired live was good. I mean, you got everything wrapped up, right? Like you have a good you're in a good place with all of the characters and you know, and everyone's sort of good in that moment. And um, but I just I really liked the extended cut.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, me too. Yeah, as I truly did.
SPEAKER_00That that'll be my ending in my mind anyway.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, I hope it's uh uh an ending that is gearing up for another beginning.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, we'll see. We'll see.
SPEAKER_02You know, you you you talked about real quick, you talked about home goods, but they also had King's Hawaiian rolls. Yes. And I and you and I were talking about and we kept thinking, is she moving to Hawaii or something?
SPEAKER_00That's what I thought. I thought it was gonna be like a try to be like a subtle hint from her, like you guys don't pay attention to me, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because they really focused in on it a couple two times they showed them.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So what about jeers? Did you have any jeers?
SPEAKER_00I bumped the table. Sorry if it got a little shaky. Um, the only jeer that I would have would be that they should probably have some more later, although I know it's a trilogy and that's probably it, but that would be my jeer. I want more. What about you?
SPEAKER_02Yes, I have one. Why did they not do the nutcracker dance?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't know. It's a good question. I was waiting for it.
SPEAKER_02I was waiting for it, and they didn't do it.
SPEAKER_00They did not do it.
SPEAKER_02So that was that was my one.
SPEAKER_00That's a good question. Maybe the tussling around in the ball pit sort of took over for that. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, I guess. I don't know. I don't know. I I like to dance better.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. You gotta get one last dance.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you do.
SPEAKER_00One last hurrah. Hey, I have a question for you. Okay Is a Christmas suit 007 attire?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_00Does that work for Tyler Hines?
SPEAKER_02It it can.
SPEAKER_00Can a Christmas suit like that work?
SPEAKER_02I think so. I'm telling you, James Bond? I think they should make a movie with him as a like a spy, like a a 007.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Kind of like they did um Sugar Plumbed.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Where she came out of the storybook and the whole movie was about her getting.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02See, there it is. We just wrote the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we just wrote the whole yeah, Hallmarkified 007.
SPEAKER_02So, Mr. Hines, if you're watching, Paul, if you're watching.
SPEAKER_00Or listening.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00Or listening.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or listening.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Get it oh get it done. Let's not get it done.
SPEAKER_00Get it done, Hallmark.
SPEAKER_02We would forget Kimberly either. Let's forget Ultimate Spy. Let's get together and write this thing. It'll be awesome.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02What was your tinsel top moment?
SPEAKER_00There were so many. I really liked the mom and her son scenes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Especially the one I just talked about where they all hug and then you go shopping. That that whole that would probably be my tinsel top moment, her pep talk, and then loved it, you know, them hugging.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, I think that would be and her sticking up for the I was gonna say the same thing. Just the whole. Yeah, I know. Really, I I have it right here.
SPEAKER_00I have it written down.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I have it written down. I'm pointing like everybody can see it. Um, I really thought that that whole family dynamic was was spot on. Yeah, so out of five ornaments, how many are you gonna put on the drink?
SPEAKER_00Gosh. You go first this time. I'm gonna put first last.
SPEAKER_02I know. I'm gonna put a four and a quarter. A four and a quarter? Yes, I'm getting it a four and a quarter. They didn't do my dance. I gotta tell you, I gotta say.
SPEAKER_00Oh, so you're you're docking some. I I got you. I got you.
SPEAKER_02So I'm docking some. So what about you? Okay. Good.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was really, really good. It you know, it sort of it it it was, I mean, it was a really great way to end the trilogy.
SPEAKER_02I think so.
SPEAKER_00I thought. I thought they they really brought it and um yeah, I really enjoyed it. Okay, four and a half is good, right?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, it is. I think so.
SPEAKER_00Anything hanging for four Arnaments on the tree, four and a half, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Four and a half. I got a four and a quarter, and we're good to go. Yes, right? So is that a wrap?
SPEAKER_00That is a wrap.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, thanks for listening.
