SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

The last time we talked about it, we hadn't been over 200. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And so now we are, and now we would like to get to 300 by the end of the year. So if you could help us out, we'd really appreciate it.

Yes, we would.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we would.

SPEAKER_00

Always want to hear from you.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, as we're recording this, it has been one year since we started the podcast. So we have a one-year episode coming up, right?

SPEAKER_00

Happy anniversary to us.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. Our very first podcast was an unexpected Valentine with Lacey Shaber and Robert Buckley.

SPEAKER_00

Robert Buckley.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for Love Uber. So it's pretty exciting. Now we're doing our first Love You Wary of 2026.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

In our second year, entering our second year of podcasting. I'm pretty excited.

SPEAKER_00

It's me too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You know what I really want to do?

SPEAKER_00

What's that?

SPEAKER_01

We've talked about this a little bit. We might, we might maybe need to talk about or review some of the 80s and 90s rom coms.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh.

SPEAKER_01

Not homework.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

A few of them are definitely not homework. You know. But we love them just the same, especially the 80s. I have a couple in mind, and 90s were killer for some rom coms. So if you're out there listening and you think of any that you would like for us to talk about, we have some favorites, of course, and we, you know, have seen them a million times, but they are definitely the classic rom com, right? When they used to put them out in the theater, they don't really do that so much anymore, I don't think as much. But you know, um, I think they can bring them back. I think they can bring them back. But maybe, you know, we just start talking about them. I'd like to do that. What do you think?

SPEAKER_00

I think so. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, let's do it sometime. Stay tuned. We'll get those up. Right.

SPEAKER_00

All right.

SPEAKER_01

Well, today No, go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, so what are we reviewing today?

SPEAKER_01

Today we're gonna be reviewing the first Love Youary movie of 2026, The Way to You. It originally aired on the Hallmark channel on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. And it stars Kim Matula and Aaron O'Connell. And of course, Kim, we know and love from The Ghosts of Christmas Always.

SPEAKER_00

Man.

SPEAKER_01

Top-tier Christmas movie. Adored her in that movie, and Ian Harding. And Aaron O'Connell, I don't think he's he has done other hallmark work, but we haven't seen him in in the movies that he's been in. We just haven't seen them. He was in um, I think his most recent was June bug. It was maybe 2024, right? 2023 or 2024. So he's been in, he's been in a few hallmark. Now Kim plays Emma. What would you say she's an art dealer?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know that she's an art dealer. I think she helps the art dealer set up the galleries.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. There you go. Yeah, yeah, that's her. And then you have um Aaron Oconnell plays Conrad. And do you have a handle on his position? On his job?

SPEAKER_00

He's a banker, a finance banker.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's right. He's a financier. Right, right, right. I was thinking, I was thinking finance, but I'm like, was he a banker? Was he not? Okay, all right, we're good. And of course, I have to mention there were two other supporting cast members. Sarah Lubby plays Hazel, that is um Emma's sister. She plays the sister, and Eugene Buffau, hopefully I'm pronouncing that correctly. He plays Sid, um, Hazel's husband, who is the brother-in-law of Emma.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Did you follow that change?

SPEAKER_00

And they live together.

SPEAKER_01

And they, yes, well, they live together at the beginning of the movie, anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So The Way to You was directed by no uh Norma Bailey. She directed last year's Love on the Danube Royal Getaway. She's also directed a few of the Way Home episodes, which I believe this year is the final season.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Yep, I think it's coming up in the spring sometime.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and I hope they really talk about the actual pond itself and what the pond is. But I won't.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. I we'll see if they knew. I guess if they knew it was gonna be the last season, I can't remember the timing of that, you know, how much they're gonna wrap up during the series.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we'll find out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Nicole Baxter Baxter was the writer. Um, Nicole has written several Hallmark movies, including a few of our recent favorites, Adventures in Love and Burden.

SPEAKER_01

Oh gosh, that was that was at the top in 2025, wasn't it? Yes. Oh, he's so good in that. And Rachel Boston, they were so good.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and Unexpected Valentine, which we just discussed earlier on this podcast. And a blind date book club.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that was really cute too.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

That's another Robert Buckley one with Aaron Krako, right?

SPEAKER_00

That is correct.

SPEAKER_01

That is correct.

SPEAKER_00

And as you know, at this point in our podcast, we will talk about spoilers. So if you haven't watched this movie yet, pause us, go watch it, come back, let us know how we did by leaving us a star review or a comment or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I see how you loop back to that. That was pretty good. That's pretty good, right?

SPEAKER_00

All right. So you want to drop the synops on this one?

SPEAKER_01

Sure thing. New Yorkers Emma and Conrad agree to help each other find their missed connections after a subway blackout. Their search might lead to love, but not where either of them expects to find it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Not on a subway, but hey.

SPEAKER_01

Not on a subway. Well, you never know. You know, you maybe.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. Can we just say Yes Um I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Can we?

SPEAKER_00

Well, what did you think? What did you think?

SPEAKER_01

No, what were you gonna say? Go for it.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'll talk about it with when I do my what do I think?

SPEAKER_01

Well, why can't we do yours first?

SPEAKER_00

No, I was gonna say, all right, well, let's do mine first. What did I think?

SPEAKER_01

Um what did you think? You go first this time.

SPEAKER_00

Here's the funny thing. I was kind of worried because we just finished up watching the five um winter escape movies, which were so packed with action. Yes. I wasn't sure how I would going into this watch how uh how I was going to feel because you know Love You Werry is more on the drama side of it and not the action side, but I have to tell you, I really enjoyed this movie.

SPEAKER_01

It's more in the drama, it's more the rom-com than the action rom-com, right? Is that what you mean?

SPEAKER_00

Right, right. And I mean, the the way um the relationship evolved throughout the movie, I enjoyed um the fate part of it all. I enjoyed um Kiss Met.

SPEAKER_01

Kissment, I think he says serendipitous moments, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, love at first sight, kind of like us, huh? Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and you know, I one of the things I I find funny is how do people live in New York, man? The prices of these apartments. I guess that's why everybody lives together, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, millions and millions of people do live in New York City and they love it.

SPEAKER_00

So which brings me to what I was gonna say. I love the narration at the beginning and how she talked about um on average, on an average weekday, the New York subway carries roughly four million people on 1,000 train cars through 423 stations.

SPEAKER_01

That is those are crazy, crazy stats when you think about it like that. Yes. You know what?

SPEAKER_00

I have to cheers to that because that's moving some people around a small tight area. Good for New York, man.

SPEAKER_01

That's those are people movers for sure. Yeah, like at Disney, they have that it doesn't go very fast. It is really slow, you know, only New York City goes fast.

SPEAKER_00

But they but they get them moved around the park. So what did you think?

SPEAKER_01

I would say if you like you just mentioned, so we were just coming off of um winter escape movies in January, and they were so good. Yeah, I mean, Hallmark really, you know, we keep saying this, hit the ground running in January, right out of the gate. I mean, we enjoyed all of those movies, even if we rank some of them, you know, like a three. We still thoroughly enjoyed those movies, right? So it was kind of like, okay, love you, Eary, you got a lot of hype to live up to because January was so good. But I would say if you haven't seen The Way to You yet, run, don't walk to watch it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I what an absolutely adorable, refreshing, fun rom-com. And it really surprised me because I mean, we love Kim Matullah. I wasn't as familiar with Aaron O'Connell. So I wasn't, you know, you just you just never know if you if you're not as familiar. And that's our fault because we haven't seen the Hallmark movies he's been in, right? So we just weren't as familiar with him. And I wasn't sure, you know, I, you know, we we loved her in the ghost of Christmas Always. So we, you know, I was confident she was gonna deliver, but man, she, gosh, yes, Queen, do your thing. You know, she's so natural in this. So she's very natural, effortless in this. And, you know, it had like some when Harry Met Sally vibes that may or may not be one of the rom-coms I was alluding to earlier, you know. I mean, that's like the epitome, right? Of rom coms. So I just felt like it was just it was so adorable, so cute. I love her even more now. She nailed the role, she was effortless, and he was so good too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was.

SPEAKER_01

I really enjoyed him. I really want to go watch June Bug now. I actually, I think that's with um Autumn Reaser as well. So I really want to go, you know, we didn't see that one. I want to look up some things that he was in because I really I just thought it was it. They've really again, January started off so, so strong. And this one was an unexpected surprise hit for me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, me too. Yeah, yeah. I I thought their the chemistry between them too was really good. And I also, like you said, there were some scenes where it they kind of reminded me of you because you're you kind of got that little, you know, uh uh spicy kind of oh she's so cute and quirky. Yeah, and some of the you know the the little facial expressions and stuff, it just reminded me of you. And she made it look so effortlessly. It was like, you know, and I I just really enjoyed it. So what did you think about the meat cute?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I guess before we talk about the meat cute, we should briefly just say if you know, if you haven't seen it, so the premise is what she Emma and Conrad get on the subway around the same time, right? Are they they're traveling at the the same time, but they're not in the same exact car at first, right? Subway car. And they each, you know, the subway ends up stopping, which I don't know. Does that happen a lot in New York City? That would freak me out a little bit. You know how I feel about subway anyway, but yeah. Um, so it stops for a brief period of time, and they both end up meeting meeting someone on the subway briefly, right, in the moment, and they have these little mini discussions, and then they go about their way and then they're and then without getting names or digits. Now, in today's day and age, you know, it's like ask, come out of your comfort zone and just ask somebody, right? So um so the beginning's really cute, right? And so they they all go their separate ways, but Emma and Conrad have not gotten the names or numbers or information of the strangers that they met on the train, but they felt some sort of connection and they're trying to find them, yeah, essentially, is what although she less so than him, right? Like she kind of is interested, but right so so the meat cute happens because Conrad has put an ad in some subway find person. I don't know the type thing. I don't know what it is. I'm sure there's an app. I'm sure there that's either that's an actual app or there is one where you can search for someone that you found, you know, um, in the when you're commuting or whatever. So um so he's put in this ad and she answers the ad and she's waiting at a restaurant and he walks in behind her thinking it's the woman that he ran into on the subway and he's trying to find. Yeah. And it's not her, but they proceed to chat, and uh, it was just really cute. She describes, you know, what she's looking for. He describes the girl. He says he just, you know, came for his lightning, what his lightning bolt.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, he's looking for, and and she says, Oh, stay away from open spaces, you know, and right away you kind of get that she's like a joke, she likes to joke around a lot, and he kind of laughs, and their chemistry is like immediate, yes, right, but but friendly, but neither you don't have a moment where they're like, Oh, I really like you, but you like it's just that friend chemistry, like they have some kind of bond you see right away. It's fun, it's effortless immediately, and then they agree to meet on the weekend, right? He and so that's where the jokes start about she's not a morning person. Hill, that's me. Right. Um, so at this me cue, they kind of learn a little bit about each other and they agree to meet again so they can help each other find that person, their that person or their people. And and they have a little bit of banter there where he's like, Can we meet at eight? And she's like, How about eleven? You know, he's like he's like 9 30, and she goes, 9 30-ish. Yes, and and that's when he's like, There's no ish in finance, you know. It was just really cute, fun banter.

SPEAKER_00

She said, if you do it right, there is on the on the weekend. If you do it right, there is.

SPEAKER_01

If you do it right, there is, yeah. That was just so I thought the Meat Cute was actually spectacular.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Um, we still got to find a rating system for it. I thought it totally worked. What about you?

SPEAKER_00

I I I say the same thing. I I thought it was so cute. You know, he walks up behind her and says, So, how did you like the book? And she's like, What? Which was funny because they both had the same type of conversation with the person they met on the subway.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right.

SPEAKER_00

And that's why she thought she thought it was him who had put the ad in the in in that paper or whatever it is, the app. And um, and he thought it was her. So when they realized it wasn't the person they both expected, they kind of just were like friends that you know picked up where they left off over a five-year period, right?

SPEAKER_01

They were just Yeah, they were like friends instantly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I thought it was a really cool, meet cute.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I loved it.

SPEAKER_01

And but you're right, their conversations with the others on the subways was about ended up being about books and art. So when he puts the ad, you know, online or whatever, it's it's generalized. It's not very specific as to what book and what are, you know. So he he's basically like, oh, the the girl that I met on whatever subway, uh, whatever train subway six, yeah. Subway six train six. Train six, that you know, and we talked about books and art, and that's why she answers the ad because she knows it was her. And actually, it's really cute, you know, before they have the Meet Cue where she's on the subway and she overhears two women, they're reading the ad.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, right?

SPEAKER_01

They have the paper. It's actually in that's right, it's in the paper. Yeah, and they're reading the ad and they're like, Who meets like that on the subway? And she, you know, and then they put the paper down and she picks it up and because she hears them say the thing about you know, books and art and stuff. So yeah, it was really cute.

SPEAKER_00

Really cute.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so all right, let's get into some favorite scenes. What you got for me?

SPEAKER_00

Um, okay, so I really liked um her sister Hazel and her brother-in-law uh Sid and how she always they were kind of like a sounding board for her, like she would always confide in them. And I thought it was so cool their conversations that they would have when they were in the apartment. Because it was, you know, Sid is big into um, he works for the hospital and he does puppets for the kids. Yeah, he's got all his puppets in the house, and it's so funny that um, you know, he's always got there's always a different one when they're talking, and I just thought it was so so I didn't notice there was always a different one around when they were talking. That's funny. Yeah, so that's funny. That that was one that's one of mine. What about you? What did you have?

SPEAKER_01

Um when Emma and Conrad do meet in, I guess it's Central Park.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

You know, he says that's where they really they talk to each other and they find out more like he traveled a lot as a kid because his parents believed in passports, not presents, or you know, whatever. And she traveled too, but it was more like camping and hiking. And um he mentions something about a Rolodex, and she's like, What is this, the 80s? You know, and and I was thinking, my gosh, when's the last time I heard somebody talk about a Rolodex? You know, I loved it. Well, I know you and I know what a Rolodex is, but those young kids knew that you know, right? So, and then she, you know, she kind of that's when you learn that, you know, he wants he wants the lightning bolt meeting with somebody where it's just like immediate, like they call it Kismet, right? Which is, I think like um, what did I say it was? Sort of like serendipitous, where it, you know, it's an accidental but good meeting kind of thing.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And um, I'd have to look that up. But and she's and she's kind of like she's more practical about it, you know. She she's more practical in her approach about finding someone. So and then that scene sort of leans into them. They're sitting on a they find a bench and they both sit down. It's just fun and light, and they're laughing and they have easy chemistry. And you know, and then she mentioned mentions that she's finally waking up because she's not a morning person. They met at 9 30, and he's like, It's 10 30. You know, what do you mean you're just freaking up? So um I I just thought it was I I I really like that scene. I thought it was really cute.

SPEAKER_00

That was one of my favorite scenes because when they when they sat down on the bench and you had these guys jogging by, and he kept asking, So what do you think about that one? And she was like, No, that's a bro man right there. And then another one drives by and they both were kind of like, he runs funny. So they were laughing. So they were kind of giving these little nicknames to these people that were jogging by. So it was a cute little scene. It was, it was really cute, and it worked really well.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so kit, let me tell you what Kismet is. It refers to fate, destiny, or a predetermined course of events. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

And that was all three.

SPEAKER_01

Fate and destiny is all all we're all about serendipity too, that movie. Although that's not a 90s rom-com, but it's 2000s. It's all right.

SPEAKER_00

And we even had one of their, what do they call them? The um hot chocolate uh paper.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the the New York City's restaurant Serendipity is famous for their frozen hot chocolate. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Frozen hot chocolate, that's what it was. It was so delicious.

SPEAKER_01

It was so good. All right, back on track, back on track.

SPEAKER_00

All right, back on track. So also part of the jogging scene was when she had bundled up and he was like, Oh, was that the first one?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_00

He's like, We're not in uh Antarctica or something like that. He goes, We're here, and she's like, Oh no, it's cold. And then as they jog, well, they're like two seconds into jogging, right? And she's like, Oh my god, I'm hot. I gotta take this out.

SPEAKER_01

And what did she say? Not a jog, a slow run. What does she they call it? She called, gosh, I'm a daughter.

SPEAKER_00

What does she call it? Yeah, because they mentioned. A soft jog. A soft jog.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Let's not call it. Or a slow jog or something like that. More of a soft, soft jog. That's why.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And that was so cute. Because she took off her scarf and her her jacket and he put it around his waist. So it was kind of cool because you could see that relationship building. Well, maybe that might have been the second the second run.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because she's still she gets up early, but she's like still young. Like when she wakes up, her eyes are still closed. When she's in bed, I'm like, that is me having to wake up early. I am not a morning person. And we have to get up really early for work, but I am not. And when she wakes up and she could barely like hit the alarm clock, you know, and then she she meets him at the park. And that's you're right. That's when she kind of jokes about his joggers too. Cause he's like, Yeah, yeah. Aren't you awfully bundled up? And she's like, Are those joggers too tight? And then he looks and she's like, Major looking.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I'm talking about. That was the banter. That's like you. And you do stuff like that. It's so funny.

SPEAKER_01

It's so cute. It's so cute. So yeah. So then when she and I there's a part at the end of that where she leaves to go after they're done. Yeah. You know, she leaves to go home. And she she's like, I'm gonna go now. I'm gonna run, you know. And so she runs literally for like three steps, and then she stops, right? But he's watching her, and just the way he's watching her, that's sort of the moment where you're like, Oh, there's a little something there, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, and then she adds the scarf flip over the shoulder when she stops to stops running. It was so cute, and he just turns and just kind of shakes his head and smiles.

SPEAKER_01

Adorable, adorable. I mean, I can't say cute and adorable enough for this time. I know fun, funny.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_00

So any more, what do you have what else do you have?

SPEAKER_01

Oh gosh, there are just so many. When so she has a date with one of his coworkers, and he thought someone else contacted him, right, thinking that she was the one that met him on the train, right? So she has a date, he has a date, and then they kind of meet up afterwards, you know, and her date wasn't really successful because the guy that whose name is Aaron, right? The character name is Aaron, his coworker. He's kind of boring and dry and whatnot. And, you know, the girl that he met up with is not the girl that he met on the subway. And then it's just so cute because she's like, I wore heels. Why did I wear heels? I don't wear heels anymore, they're very impractical. Heels were a bad call. And he's just like, Are we gonna be talking about heels? And it was so cute and also so relatable. I haven't worn heels in a long time. Well, I guess because we had the wedding a wedding recently, but I mean, I don't, you know, I'm more about comfort, but I but it was just so cute because she's like, Why do I wear heels? They're so uncomfortable. What am I doing? You know, it just her character was so good. She was so good in that role. I just adored that moment, adored it.

SPEAKER_00

And that in that same scene, she goes, Can we go up and talk? She's a because she was like, I gotta get into my slippers. And he was like, Yeah, okay, that's fine. And he goes, I just want to see the slippers, and then they end up being bunny slippers.

SPEAKER_01

They're little bunny slippers, yeah. Yeah, and that's also the scene where he gets her to admit, hey, there needs to be a little spark, it's not just about practicality when you meet somebody, and she was kind of like, Okay, you know, she knew he was right, but she didn't want to admit it.

SPEAKER_00

So she was like, Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Any other scenes for you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, okay. I have to say the ghost movie, the ghost scene, not really the ghost scene, but kind of the ghost scene where she teaches him how to use the sculpting wheel or whatever they call it. I don't know what they call it.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I just thought that was so, so cute and kind of romantic, even though I think they started feeling at this point that they kind of have feelings for each other.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I think he was kind of really digging her. So I just thought it was a really nice I don't know if they did it on purpose.

SPEAKER_01

Was that when he went up after the date? Yeah, it was the when they got the slippers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, it it's funny that you bring that up because well, I'll talk about that when we get to cheers and cheers. I'll leave that at that, and that's because that's one of my cheers. All right. Um, any other fave scenes for you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, let's see. Um, no, I think that was it. That's it. I mean, I got a lot of things.

SPEAKER_01

I know there's so much we could talk about when she's, you know, they go out to dinner with her sister and her brother-in-law. Yeah. And um and it's with um Conrad. He goes as well. And she finds while they're at the restaurant slash bar, she finds the girl that he's been looking for, and she has this moment where she's debating, and you're like, you know, it's crushing her because she's now been crushing on Conrad, and she kind of, you know, she definitely likes him, and it's but she's found the girl, the one that he had that lightning bolt with. And it's like you can see her brain, like, I don't want to tell him, I don't want to tell him. But she does the right thing and she goes and sits down and she's like, I found your girl, you know, and then he goes and he talks to her name happens to be Simone, right? And he goes, So I just thought I loved, you know, she's so good in that moment too. That's another just great moment for her because you can see it on her face, the dilemma that she has because she really likes Conrad, but she also does the right thing by telling him that the other girl is there.

SPEAKER_00

So I like that. Prior to that scene with her and her sister, her sister was like, You gotta go for it, you know. And so she she so she was going to. And I found it interesting that she knew who she was because of the ring she was wearing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that that was something we haven't discussed, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right. And that was the ring that Conrad had noticed when they were on the subway before the blackout.

SPEAKER_01

So I thought that was a nice little intertwined um that had to do with an artist and right come full circle dealer moment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And that she was like, oh, I can't, I guess I'll tell them.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, there were just so many, you know, I could talk probably all night about this. There were so many other cute scenes, like when they're at, you know, and then they end up going to Conrad's company's party, not together, but with other people.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And they kind of get jealous of one another and whatnot. But another favorite scene is is the end. We got to talk about the end, right? So he's on his way to the airport and he sees a taxi passing by and it's got bagels on top. And he has told this story about how his parents they knew instantly at a bagel shop, basically, right? That they loved each other. And then, you know, he realizes it's her. He goes to he goes to her while she's leaving a message to him. And just the whole the way they wrapped, you know, I won't give everything away, but it's just the way it came back around. Yeah, was so good. It was just so, so good.

SPEAKER_00

It was. It was some really good writing, really good directing, too.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and there were mentions of um of uh what does she mention? Carrie Bradshaw. There's a there's a scene where Emma says to her assist, now she knows how Carrie Bradshaw felt when Bridget Moynihan, you know, came back, Mr. Biggs, you know, and I just was like, oh my gosh, that's such a and then they gave a shout out to um I think Friends. Yeah, because what is it? His boss is like, you know, uh Rachel and Ross, you're not in the friend zone, like you know, Rachel and Ross, you know. So I they made a few mentions of popular TV shows, you know, you get the Sex in the City shout-out, the Friends shout-out, which I thought was really cool too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And that's I I don't remember his boss's name, but I thought he was really good in this too. He was, he was he was really good as well. Because he he was kind of like that sarcastic thing too about to Conrad or like, so which one are you gonna marry? You know, it was Yeah, he was you know, everybody saw it except them two, but you know, they kind of knew it.

SPEAKER_01

But well they came back, they came around eventually. They did, yeah, eventually. I was looking Lance, maybe his boss's name.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know what? Yes, yes, I think it was Lance. Another one of my favorite scenes I forgot to mention was when they were he he needed an outfit for the date that we just talked about, and she also needed an outfit. So he was like, Well, let's go together.

SPEAKER_01

And as they So Conrad and Emma go together to shop go together to shop. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And as they're walking up to the store, she was like, Well, how did you find out about this place? And he said, Well, it's my boss, and you know, if we say the word Lance, we'll get a that's right.

SPEAKER_01

We should have known that. Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_00

And I just thought it was so funny because you know, they were trying on different outfits, and he was he dresses one way, but she she says, No, you look better like this, and she would never put on, she didn't put on anything. So she came out in the clothes that she wore into the store.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

But at the end, um, when the lady comes up and says, Is there anything? Even the lady knew it, they they had chemistry together. She was like, Is there anything else I can do for you? And he turns to Emma and and then turns back to the uh the employee and is like Lance. Lance, and she's like, What? And he's like, Lance.

SPEAKER_01

And isn't that what Emma's like, let's just go ring it up, you know, like it's not working. We're not doing it.

SPEAKER_00

But he was like, Are you new here?

SPEAKER_01

It was cute.

SPEAKER_00

So that was a cute thing, too. I forgot about that one.

SPEAKER_01

All right, let's get into cheers. Biggest cheer.

SPEAKER_00

You go first.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I've already talked a lot about it. I just thought it was adorable, fun, cute, funny. Kim Matula is divine in this, she's effortless. The chemistry between the two of them was fire. I really liked Aaron O'Connell as Conrad. I want to watch some of his other movies now. Me too. I thought he was great. Like, and you know, I mentioned earlier, it kind of gave me a little bit of when Harry met Sally vibes, because you know, they're friends at first, you know, and um, and the other cheer, big cheer for me. I mean, we've talked about all of our favorite scenes, but the pottery scene. It's very hard to do one of those, I think, especially our age or maybe a little bit younger, um, because the iconic scene from the movie Ghost with Demi Demi Moore and um Patrick Swayze, literally an iconic scene, but they it was so good in this movie. It was it was so cute, it was so different, and it was done so well. You know, I thought they nailed it. I just I yeah, I've got uh no notes really for this movie, so there won't be any jeers for me. No notes. What about you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I just love that, like I said, the conversations she had with her sister and her brother-in-law. Um, I I also love the fact that both of them were kind and and genuine. Yeah. You know, not just to each other, but to other people, because he was always picking things up and was like, hey, you drop this, here you go, you know. And she witnessed it one time and just thought it was she had this big smile on her face.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so yeah, I mean, if I was you know, they they didn't make them ever like hate each other. There was no moment where they got angry, they were just gonna go on with their lives, you know, he was gonna go to wherever for for war Japan, right? For work. And you know, it wasn't like they had some big blow up and she didn't get mad. He it was just it's more real life, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I agree, I agree. And and the funny thing is, is you know, he did want that lightning bolt, and then when he was with Simone, he kind of found out that they just they weren't on that same page. But the fact that his real lightning bolt was with Emma.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's when he wrote it.

SPEAKER_01

Spoiler alert, right? Although it shouldn't be too much of a spoiler. It is a Hallmark movie after all. All right, so out of five quirks, how many would you give the very first Love Youary movie of 2026?

SPEAKER_00

You know what? I'm going with a five.

SPEAKER_01

I know we too enjoyed it. I can't give it anything more.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I know we give away a lot of fives, but when it's not lately. Not lately, but I mean less. Without having all the action, this movie made me laugh. You know, I it made me like you mean coming down off of all the action.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Because you don't necessarily need action for your rom-cons. Right, right, right.

SPEAKER_00

The the chemistry between them, I think it flowed and it moved throughout the movie, building up to the end. I thought was great. And the the supporting cast was awesome. So yeah, I'm giving it a five. What about you?

SPEAKER_01

Same. I already said same. Five quarts all day, all day, every day, five quarts. Halmark, congratulations.

SPEAKER_00

Because you are on a roll.

SPEAKER_01

On a roll, on a roll.

SPEAKER_00

You like butter, you're on a roll.

SPEAKER_01

Oh boy. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So is that a wrap?

SPEAKER_01

That's a wrap.
