Garry and Amy discuss why On the 12th Date of Christmas has become a fan favorite, break down the Merry Meet Cute, and explore how the film balances romance, competition, and holiday magic. Trailers And Hallmark News Roundup

SPEAKER_00

Don't miss anything. All right, in our herded through the grapevine, these are things we may have read, heard, or seen on the World Wide Web.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, the World Wide Web seems spooky.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we had two big trailers drop relatively recently. First, Mistletoe Murder season three. Yay! We're so excited. Oh my gosh. If you have not watched Mistletoe Murders, please go check out season one and season two. It is on Hallmark Plus. It may be elsewhere for you to purchase. I'm not sure, but it is on Hallmark Plus. But please go watch it, or you could go listen to our podcast recap and reviews. We have done both seasons. And what's great about Mistletoe Murders is it's like a two-episode arc, right? You have you have continuing storylines throughout the season, but as far as the murder mystery, you have two episodes and it's just really great. So you see it in the first one, and then you get the resolution in the second one. Right for the most part. And then you have clues about personal lives and things going on elsewhere. So we really love that series. If you haven't seen it, check it out. So so good. So Mistletoe Murder Season Three will be a part of Countdown to Christmas 2026.

SPEAKER_02

Looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_00

And we have we got another trailer for another Countdown to Christmas movie, Christmas Delivered, which star is going, which stars Autumn Reaser and Wes Brown. And we watched the trailer and it looks really cute.

SPEAKER_03

It looks really cute.

SPEAKER_00

It looks really cute. Yeah. I hope it's you know funny. And I mean, gosh, we just love Autumn Reaser. And um, and Wes Brown just cracks me up usually, you know. So um, we're looking forward to that. I guess he kind of is developing an app for a tree delivery service, is what it kind of seems like, and maybe she's there to squash his dreams.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know, but kind of sounds like what we're getting ready to review, huh?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, well, maybe a little bit. Yes, yes, a little bit. And then we also found out that there will be a fourth installment of the Haunted Harmony Mysteries movies titled Prelude to a Wedding. And we love the series. Love, love, love, love the series of movies. It's not an actual series, it's movies. If you have not seen them, they are so cute.

SPEAKER_03

They are very cute. So cute.

SPEAKER_00

Now there's a murder that involves, so maybe I shouldn't describe it as cute.

SPEAKER_03

However, it's a Hallmark murder, not like a Netflix murder.

SPEAKER_00

And what's so great is that so we watched the third one first because it was airing as a new movie on the Hallmark channel. And then we went back and watched the first two.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And it stars um Tamira Maori Housley. I don't know. I have a hard time with that.

SPEAKER_02

I know, it's a tongue twist.

SPEAKER_00

She is so great, and you know, she plays Ghessemini.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

See what I did there? We couldn't pronounce it when we first started. Yeah. So um it it it's just they're so good. Go check them out. How would you describe it?

SPEAKER_03

Um light, fun, mysterious, mysterious, and of course it has ghosts, which I love.

SPEAKER_00

Right, right. So and there's one that she talks to in particular, Eamon.

SPEAKER_03

Eamon, right? He is funny. I I like his dry humor.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to that one.

SPEAKER_00

Me too, me too. We peeped it in the autumn movie. I think it's coming in September. So when they did the drop for Fall into Love movies, we kind of saw a little glimpse and we're like, oh, are we getting it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This soon? That's so great. And the the writers of those, um, Craig, I think it's Craig Wenman. I I'd have to look up his name. But he um he had sort of we had been messaging a little bit and uh he had said the first movie, because uh, you know, we had mispronounced the names a few times in our first. It was so hard for my brain to keep it, right? And so, well, mine was Gethsemane, right? So Gethsemane. So um, you know, we had we had sort of talked about that, and he mentioned that the whole first movie, and it is true, we hadn't seen it yet. He had mentioned that they addressed that in the first movie, how to pronounce her name, and it's kind of like a running joke throughout that entire first movie. So I'm excited. I I'm really glad we're getting we we really did. We really really did.

SPEAKER_04

But we did.

SPEAKER_00

So that's that's the latest and heard it through the grapevine, and we will have more next time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we will.

SPEAKER_00

Hopefully.

Christmas In July Highlights

SPEAKER_03

All right, so what are we doing today?

SPEAKER_00

Today, we are going to be reviewing what will be our final Christmas in July movie, although it is not something well, it did air during Christmas in July this year, um, but it wasn't one of the new movies. Right. New. And I'm gonna put new in quotes, right? Because what did you think of Christmas in July this year before we dive into it?

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I thought it was good. We decided to only review um the two middle movies.

SPEAKER_00

Because they were new.

SPEAKER_03

Because they were new, and um I really enjoyed them. The um Snowbound for the holidays, love the ski slope, love the ski lodge, the scenery, and then um Oh Little Christmas Market. Really loved that one because we personally have seen the cargo district in Wilmington, and the idea uh that they had to save the little market was to use containers. So you know, I thought it was really cute.

SPEAKER_00

What about and the fact that you had a miniature artist in a little Christmas market, and I didn't mention it in our review, but when I was a kid growing up near Chicago, which we're gonna be talking about in a little bit, um uh there's a museum there called the Museum of Science and Industry, and they have a large fairy castle, and I believe it's called Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle. And Colleen Moore was a, I think she was a silent film actress, and she collected all these, uh, I think like miniature, like it's literally like the library has all these little miniature books, and they're actual books that are like teeny tiny. And so when this movie was coming out, that was the first thing I thought of when I was a kid and we would go there for field trips. That was the one thing that I had to see before I left that museum. And it is the coolest. If you're ever in Chicago, go check it out. Super, super cool. I think it's been a part of the museum since like the 50s or something. So yeah. But yes, I loved Old Little Christmas Market and Snowbound for the Holidays.

SPEAKER_03

And another reason is we had the great opportunity to uh interview the executive producer for Old Little Christmas and the director for um Snowbound for the Holidays, which was Christopher Giroux.

SPEAKER_00

There is, yeah, yeah. So yeah, we really enjoyed that chat. You can go find that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Go find that podcast interview. He's great as well.

SPEAKER_03

He is a cool dude, and he he really has a passion for this. So go check it out.

Movie Setup And Spoiler Warning

SPEAKER_00

All right, today we're going to be reviewing on the 12th date of Christmas. It aired on the Hallmark channel on November 1st, 2020, and is streaming on Hallmark Plus right now. It stars Mallory Jansen as Jennifer Holloway and the one and only Tyler Hines. He's Mr.

SPEAKER_03

Jim himself.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So you want to do your Tyler Hines thing that you do?

SPEAKER_03

I I just want Hallmark to make a spy-like movie, whether it's Christmas and they're somebody stole the Christmas star or something, and he's the agent that goes and finds it. Because I just think it would be really cool.

SPEAKER_00

A Hallmark if I James Bond.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

We need that ASAP Hallmark. Listen to the year now, I know you haven't.

SPEAKER_03

Where's the where's all you writers out there? Come on. Tyler Hines would be perfect for something like that. He would be.

SPEAKER_00

All right. Mallory Mallory was last in a Melbourne match and the Royal We, I mean, we loved both of those.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, we did.

SPEAKER_00

Tyler, of course, is a huge fan favorite. He has actually starred in um 10 movies over the past two and a half years on the old Hart channel, with his latest being I'll Be Seeing You. Yeah. Which was an adorable. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

We reviewed that, so go check that one out too. Yep. You know, I had to. You crack yourself up. I know. I know, I know. So, anyways, so Christine Conrad and Jamie Bacino wrote this one. Christine's last writing project for Hallmark was Tip Line, Mystery Mysteries, Dial One for Murder. That's pretty cool. Jamie's most recent uh written Hallmark movie is Kentucky Roses. Oh, so God. She did it so good job on that one, man. Yes. Ugh, that kiss scene.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

Gary Yates directed on the 12th date of Christmas. His last directed, he last directed 2022's 'twas the night before Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

All right.

SPEAKER_03

So it's time to drop the synopsis.

SPEAKER_00

Alrighty. Two game creators, both vying for promotion, must team up to create a Christmas scavenger hunt in Chicago.

SPEAKER_03

Where it's cold and windy.

SPEAKER_00

Chicago.

SPEAKER_03

But they got great pizza dish.

SPEAKER_00

All right. All right.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, they do. Yes, they do.

SPEAKER_03

This is the part of the podcast where we're gonna tell you, we're gonna drop spoilers. So if you haven't seen the movie, why don't you continue to listen? Because we're gonna review it, and then you can go watch it, or just turn us off, go watch it, and come back and listen to our podcast. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

SPEAKER_01

Below.

unknown

Below.

SPEAKER_03

So you ready to dive into this one?

SPEAKER_00

I am. I am. Whoo. All right, let's pour it out.

SPEAKER_03

All right. You want to go first? You want me to go first? Or how do you want to do this one?

SPEAKER_00

Uh I'll go first.

First Impressions And Chicago Details

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Just because it takes place in Chicago. I gotta go.

SPEAKER_03

No, your favorite.

SPEAKER_00

And by the way, before we get started, Tyler Hines, wasn't he a game creator in the three wise men and a baby? He was. Isn't he like a game? Okay, I just I just thought of that just now. Hey, you know what?

SPEAKER_03

When you have a passion for something, you like to play it.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, that's totally fine. Totally fine. All right, so my if we're pouring it out, pouring my first take out. Um, of course, I got I always shout out the Chicago aspect. Now, of course, obviously it wasn't filmed in Chicago, and I know that. I get it, but I love all of the shots, right? It's very reminiscent for me. I did not grow up in Chicago, but I grew near Chicago. Uh and am a big fan, of course. And I just appreciate the, I guess they what do they call it? The b-roll. Yeah, the b-roll shots. There's it so like the shots and the mentions of Chicago. So there's a scene where Tyler Hines says, um, you know, that he mentions a tree farm in Lake County. I grew up in Lake County. Uh, the bean, the infamous bean there. And we peeped a Chicago Cubs flag in front of a building. We didn't see that other flag now, did we, from that other team in the city?

SPEAKER_02

Not mentioned in it.

SPEAKER_00

The only, well, maybe I'll talk about that in a cheer, but I'm gonna say it right here because it's about Chicago. Aiden uh Tyler Hines' character does mention that his grandfather grew up on the South Side, and that is not the team that we cheer for in the cheer for the North Side team. Anywho, now the new holiday touchdown movie is gonna be filmed in or was filmed in Chicago. They just rapped, so I'm gonna be really excited to see that because it's actually being filmed there, so it's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it is.

SPEAKER_00

All right, back to back to on the 12th night. Um, I just you know, I love the Chicago part. I thought it there were cozy vibes right out of the gate with um Jennifer, she's baking, right? The Christmas decorations in this movie were fantastic and all throughout the movie. It was so good. The pacing was great. It was just an enjoyable, funny. I mean, we laughed out loud quite a bit in this movie. Just an adorable holiday film. I mean, I really enjoyed it. I thought Mallory and Tyler played so well off of each other. You have you know, one Tyler's character is, you know, he's not a people person. He likes to work alone in his office and then come back together and bring his ideas. Mallory's character, not so much that she needs the people around her, you know. She needs the people she functions better with people, she's a people person. So I just thought that they played really well off each other and I I thoroughly enjoyed it. What about you?

SPEAKER_03

Um pour it out. Yes, let me pour it out into this glass right here.

SPEAKER_01

We already poured it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. No, I like the concept of it, the scavenger hunt, and it's to get people to know the city. Yeah, you had the 12 clues with the 12th one bringing you back to the hotel for their re-grand opening.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it was the hotel that was doing the scavenger hunt, right?

SPEAKER_03

They were and they were a company that was doing the the the app for them to kind of give them, you know, some uh what's the word I'm looking for?

SPEAKER_00

Some publicity.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, thank you. Um I I love how Tyler Heinz was riding around on a bike in the cold of Chicago. I thought that was kind of cute because you know he's a loner and he rides his bike. Um the chemistry, I love how it just grew throughout the movie. It wasn't a fast-paced thing, and I just love the humor. Yes, and the banter between both of them. Yes, and of course, the Chicago scenery and all the Christmas decorations.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Yes. This has to be one of the most decor. I mean, I think the the Christmas decorations were off the chain in this one, I think. Especially in Jennifer's office. Well, that was one of my favorite scenes. Oh, okay. Yeah, I wasn't gonna go into it yet.

SPEAKER_03

Do you want to go into that or you want to do the unwrapping the merry me cute?

The Meet Cute And Work Rivalry

SPEAKER_00

All right, let's unwrap the merry me cute. And you know, I'm not so sure that they didn't know each other.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't really get that. They maybe just haven't worked together.

SPEAKER_03

So they knew of each other but didn't know each other.

SPEAKER_00

Know each other, right, right. So they're uh so um Aiden is in a meeting with his boss, and they're pitching ideas to the um to the hotel marketing person, right? Because they're they're trying to give her ideas about what they want to do. And Aiden's partner partner has to leave because his wife is having a baby, so he has to leave. Billy has to leave. P.S. And by the way, Jennifer is coming up the stairs, and she is she was gonna go talk to the boss anyway about a job that she wanted.

SPEAKER_03

She wanted the she wanted the head game creator. Yeah, it's called no, it's head game creator position.

SPEAKER_00

Head game creator position. Oh, right, right, right. So um, so her boss says to her, hey, I need you to I need you to step into this account because you know, so and so had to leave or whatever. So she goes in and um it's gonna be a quick turnaround time for the hotel. And you know, Aiden isn't super excited that she's there, right? He'd rather work it alone, which is kind of what he says at first, but she comes in and um then she just starts to pitch some ideas, and Aiden's kind of like, Do you even know Chicago? So they sort of have this moment where he's he's annoyed, he's a he's not really mean, but he's annoyed a little bit, and she's just trying to fit in, and then she's like, Okay, I'm shutting up, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Right, right.

SPEAKER_00

So, and the hotel person is still there. So then they come up, that's where they do come up with the idea of the scavenger hunt.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

The 12 dates of Christmas, the 12 dates, right, right, right. It's in that meeting that they come up with the 12 dates of Christmas, and they're gonna be in locations throughout the city so people can get to know the real neighborhoods and a little bit better.

SPEAKER_03

And learn the history, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And learn the history, right? So, what what did you think? So, if we're unwrapping the Merry Meet Cute, is it was it merry and bright, snow much potential, or ho ho no?

SPEAKER_03

I'm giving it a merry and bright because it was different. That's what I'm giving it. I I love the fact that they didn't know each other, right? So, and he's in there as the senior. Yeah, that's true, like the senior associate in developer. She uh Jennifer does a quick pitch, and Wanda kind of latches onto it and she's like, continue. That's true, you know. And the look on um Aiden's face, he's like, What? Wait, what? You know, I just thought it was he he's such a natural and he makes it look so easy. He didn't. But yeah, I'm gonna give this one a Marian Bright. What about you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I I would go with um Snow Much Potential. I thought it was good, I thought it was cute, I thought it was quirky. It's probably not you know, I wouldn't say it ranks up as the best like meat that I've meet cute that I've seen. But um, I I mean I enjoyed it. Like you said, it it's funny right away. You kind of see what their relationship is going to be like right away in that moment. So I'd go with Snow Much Potential.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay. Yeah. All right. Now we got that out

Funniest Scenes And Best Bits

SPEAKER_03

the way, let's move into some of our favorite scenes. So what did you have for your no?

SPEAKER_00

You go first. I talked about Mary Meeky.

SPEAKER_03

Um so one of mine is right off the bat. So they only have a day to come up with, I think it was 16 or 18.

SPEAKER_00

Um thought it was like 36. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

But I think uh Wanda just wanted like 12 to 16 or something like that. So they're you know, they're separated and then No, I think she wanted 24. Or something like that.

SPEAKER_00

Because she wanted in case some didn't work.

SPEAKER_03

Right, in case some didn't work.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And the funny part was they they separate to do their their their choices, but then uh Jennifer asked Aiden to come to her office, and then when he's walking in, it is so decked out at Christmas. She's got toys on her desk, she's got a Christmas tree that's that's decorated to the nines, she's got ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and the look on Aiden's face was just so priceless, it was so funny. And they're talking about he goes, All right, let me hear your list, and she reads out her list, and he's kind of like, you know, I'm not liking the list, and kind of giving her notes, and she's like, Okay, well, let me hear yours. And she had this big notebook full of things, and he pulls out this little like uh stick it or whatever you call them, post it with some of his, and she's reading and she gives it right back to him.

SPEAKER_00

She does, yes.

SPEAKER_03

I loved it, loved, loved it.

SPEAKER_00

I agree. That was one of mine too. You're right. But when he goes into her office, it's just so funny because it is, I mean, it is Christmased out. Yeah, it's very Christmassy. And I was thinking about um uh uh in a previous uh uh job that I had, I had an office that I would deck out like that, right? It was all decked out. So when I when I was leaving, um a bunch of my coworkers decorated my office and they put wall, they instead of wallpaper, they put wrapping paper, Christmas wrapping paper on all of the walls and decked it out because they I remember that, yeah. Yeah, yeah, it was really cool. So it kind of reminded me, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Because you were like the Christmas person in the office.

SPEAKER_00

I I was, I really truly was. Yeah, I got them to decorate, you know, common spaces and stuff. Yeah. So, anyhow, it's yes, that was one of my favorite scenes, also.

SPEAKER_03

All right. Well, tell me another one, a different one.

SPEAKER_00

Um, before that, uh before he goes to her office, when they leave that first meeting, she is like hyper excited. She's like, What can we do? We can get together, we can like she is just babbling to him. And he is just like annoyed, and he's like, bye Iowa, because she said she was from Iowa, right? And she's like, you know. Maybe we could work in my office. And and he that's when he tells her, you know, Bill and I, no, we we go to our own offices, we come up with ideas, and then we meet, you know, and I just I just love that. I I just thought it was so funny, so cute, so clever. And then right after that, they show a scene of Jennifer at home, and she's like, she she loves to bake. That's one of her things, right? So she's got this dough, and her roommate is there, and she's like slamming the dough down, and she's like, I don't think he likes me, you know, and she's slamming it down, and it was just so funny.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I thought that was funny.

SPEAKER_00

I thought it was really, really cute. And in the meantime, he's at his sister's house. I'm not sure if he lives there too, but he's there. I just I I love the banter in the office, and then when they each go separately, it kind of slid right into those scenes. I thought, I thought that was really great.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that was a fun scene. I I I had that one down too where she's slamming the dough.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she's like slamming the dough. So funny, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And the look on her friend's face was like so cute. Okay. Um, another one of mine was so they they meet, they're meeting Wanda at the hotel for lunch, and they both meet up, you know, they both show up separate. And uh Jennifer is like in in the lobby and she's uh admiring the real gingerbread uh houses, and she just makes this. Well, I can't remember exactly what she says, but it was so funny because she was just like a little kid in a candy store. But but then they move into another room, and Aiden goes, I can't believe it. I've done it. I found the one thing you don't have in your office. And she's like, What this what's that? And he said, A giant lantern filled with ornaments. Now, he's not lying. This thing had to be three feet tall. I was gonna say four feet.

SPEAKER_01

You're probably like three feet. Yeah, it was like three or four feet tall.

SPEAKER_03

The way he delivered that scene was perfect.

SPEAKER_01

We both laughed out loud during that.

SPEAKER_03

She goes, Well, now you know what you can get me for Christmas.

SPEAKER_01

So that's the delivery, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so she played back off on it, and I just thought it was so well done, that scene.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she the the scene that you're talking about where she sees the gingerbread houses, and they're huge, right? They're in the lobby of this hotel, and it kind of reminds me of like the Disney gingerbread house.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so they have this uh and she says, Oh, you know, this is so cool. Like they had local bakers or whoever, you know, make things so cool. And then she's like, Who wants a staycation now? And then she raises her hand, you know, like it's just the way she acts in that moment was hysterical to me. And he just kind of looks at her, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Like, okay.

SPEAKER_00

He just looks at her like, okay, we're a ball full of energy, aren't we?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So yes, I agree. We're agreeing on the same.

SPEAKER_03

So did you have another one?

SPEAKER_00

Um, the other one, and I know so we've talked about limiting to only two scenes-ish, maybe if we can for time, um, in general. Just know I liked a lot of the banter and everything between them. But there's a scene, so the premise is, you know, she's really she hasn't really found her voice to speak up for herself and she wants things and and she kind of fumbles through her words a lot sometimes when she's in, you know, like those high stress situations. But then she ends up delivering, right? She does a good job, but she has this hard time um sort of finding her voice. So when she finally gets up the nerve um to tell Alistair, her boss, that she wants the head game creator position, P.S. And by the way, that's also what Tyler Heinz's character Aiden wants as well. Right. Big shock. Um, you know, she kind of fumbles at first. She's like, I want it because I'm good at it, you know, or whatever, you know, and then and then he starts to walk away and she's, you know, she realizes she really needs to speak up at this point. And she says, she talks about her passion for the job, you know, and you know, how fun, how job should be fun and it allows people to relax and be more themselves and just how much she loves it and she's engaged and she knows the value of being a part of something special. And she just goes on this lovely speech about you know why she really wants it and her passion for the company. And it I just thought it was just such a great moment for her character. And Alistair, her boss, just says, Okay, you know, I'll keep you in mind.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

He's like, Oh, it was late. It was late.

SPEAKER_03

Dismissed her, and she was like, Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, no, but she got it out and she it was much more expressive than her first, like, well, I just want it because I'm good at it and stuff, you know.

SPEAKER_03

But you could see on Alistair's face, he was like, Okay.

SPEAKER_00

He came around a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

I now, now I know you're interested in it. Yeah, that was a good sound.

SPEAKER_00

So, did you have any others? She poured it out, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I had one more, and that's when Alistair calls Aiden into his office to tell him he's gonna get the promotion.

SPEAKER_00

Spoiler alert.

SPEAKER_03

Right. And you think it's the the game head game creator, right? Right. And but it's not. Unless when Alistair tells him uh, because Aiden says Jennifer should get this job, and he's like, Well, I'm glad you say that because I'm gonna give it to her. And he and he kind of was like, What wait a minute. I I was saying that, but I didn't really mean it. It was the kind of look he had on his face. Yeah, and he goes, and Alistair goes, I'm giving you Tony. And Tony was he he left the company, but his position was uh wizards of operations, right? And so he gave that to Aiden, and and Aiden didn't say anything. He's like, Well, do you want the job? He goes, You mean I didn't say yes, I didn't say anything? And he's like, Yes, I want to do it. Yeah, and he wanted to tell Jennifer that she got the promotion because she thinks he is actually getting that position. And um, but Alistair said, Are you the boss? No, I don't think you're the boss, I'm the boss, right? Yeah, I'm the boss. So no, don't tell her. I'll tell her the night of the party. And I just thought that was a great scene.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's it's fun and their banter too between even Aiden and Alistair was really good too. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So what about you? Do you have any more?

SPEAKER_00

Um, no, none that I'll bring up. I mean, I loved the banter throughout the whole movie. Um, I'll I'll get into cheers in a little bit. So yeah, I mean, I think that's that's good. I like the ending too. No, no, the ending was really good. The ending was really good. Um, you know, I I just thought it was, you know, when they finally kiss, and she's like, just stop talking and kiss me, you know. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Please stop talking. That was a kiss because she grabs them by the back of the neck, it just goes in. Yeah. The camera goes to the side, and it's like, yes, definitely an eight plus on that one. Um, what about chemistry

Chemistry Rating On Corked

SPEAKER_03

on corked? What do you think?

SPEAKER_00

What about it?

SPEAKER_01

I loved it. Do you all right? So we we rerate it. I was waiting for you to put you on the spot.

SPEAKER_00

If you're watching on video, his face is five shades of red.

SPEAKER_03

Whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Um so chemistry on corked. This is where we rate the chemistry of the two lead characters, right? So we decide what kind of bottle we're uncorking.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

House wine and a state wine or grand reserve.

SPEAKER_03

Grand being the best.

SPEAKER_00

Grand being the best house, not being the worst, because we'll drink it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_00

But you know, not great.

SPEAKER_03

It might not be your favorite wine, but it was great.

SPEAKER_00

All right, so chemistry. What'd you think?

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna I'm gonna give it a grand reserve, and this is why. Because I loved how they went and did the clues, the days of Christmas, and each day their chemistry grew stronger and stronger and stronger. And I thought it was so cool how they did that. So that's why I'm giving it the grand reserve.

SPEAKER_00

That's why you're uncorking the grand reserves. Yeah. I I agree. I mean, I think you're right. So they they kind of sample, they discovered, they decide what they're gonna do for the 12 dates, and they go on each one for the or for the clues, yeah. So it's just really it was really cool, and you can see their relationship evolve. And I love that they weren't like enemies, right? They didn't hate each other. Like he just really wasn't a people person, so he'd rather have worked alone, but he didn't like hate her. They weren't like, you know, they both wanted the job, but they weren't like sabotaging the other one to not get it or anything, you know. So I thought that was great. And so their chemistry was allowed to build throughout the movie. I think you said that at the beginning, too.

SPEAKER_03

Naturally, organically.

SPEAKER_00

And even though they're it's not like fireworks right away, it builds up to that. So I I too, I would open a bottle of grand reserve wine. All right, I would uncork one. Yeah, all right.

SPEAKER_03

Well then let's move on to cheers and jeers.

SPEAKER_00

What about wait what? Um, I didn't have any wait what's could you I couldn't no, I couldn't think of anything other than the fact that his grandfather grew up on the south side. Yeah, see, like that's like a wait what? Yeah, you know, I mean, but other than that, I really didn't see anything in this one.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so me either.

SPEAKER_00

All right, all right, cool.

SPEAKER_03

All right, so now cheers and jeers. What was your biggest cheer?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, we've kind of talked about it. I loved their relationship, I loved the banter. I thought the 12 dates

Cheers Jeers Tinsel Moment And Scores

SPEAKER_00

um was a clever idea.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

And what they or the 12 clues, you know, or whatever it ended up being where, you know, and a treasure hunt through a city. I thought that was really cool. I know things like that exist now. They probably maybe they did then. I'm sure they did then. It's where somebody got the idea. But um, I just think it's a cool idea and a way to discover your city. And I I mean, I just I enjoyed it. I thought the banter was good, their chemistry was great. I loved even, you know, kind of the supporting cast, the actress who played his sister and her best friend, and even the boss. I thought we just had a great, a great cast. And I thought in a lot of the movie, it is just the two of them, and it just works. You don't feel like it's just the two of them, right? Right? Because they're going around doing stuff and um discovering the clues and going and having, you know, and baking things and whatnot. So I yeah, I just I th I thought everything just really worked in this one.

SPEAKER_03

I I agree with you.

SPEAKER_00

What about you? Cheers, biggest cheer.

SPEAKER_03

Um, my biggest cheer was the fact that he was upfront with her about wanting the head game cream. He didn't hold it back, he just he told her, and I thought that was different in a Hallmark movie, you know, d to come right out and say, I'm competing against you.

SPEAKER_00

That's a good point.

SPEAKER_03

And this is why. And they both wanted the job for different reasons, but hers, Jennifer's was, you know, she just wanted to be seen, she wanted to belong, she wanted a place to be, and he needed it for his uh his grandfather's house was falling apart where his sister lived with her her cousin her daughter. Yeah, so he he needed he wanted the promotion to help her make the the repairs. But the other cheer for me was that his grandfather taught students in his house, he was an architect, and in the end they all did uh pro bono work to help fix up the house.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was a cool part of it.

SPEAKER_03

And I thought that was cool because that was kind of a side story throughout the movie. So that those were my two biggest cheers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's true. I yeah, that it it really was a great side story, and it wasn't like overdone or too much of the story, it was just sort of in there, you know, in part of the mix with his relationship with his sister, and yeah, I thought that that was Yeah, and his relationship with his niece.

SPEAKER_03

It was it was really good. Yeah. All right, so did you have any more cheers?

SPEAKER_00

Um no, those I think we've covered them all.

SPEAKER_03

All right, what about jeers? Did you have any jeers?

SPEAKER_00

Um, let me see, let me see.

SPEAKER_03

I had one.

SPEAKER_00

You had one. Okay. Go on.

SPEAKER_03

I'll go ahead and talk about it. So he jones on my people, my Scottish people.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's right. That's Mr.

SPEAKER_03

Hines, Mr.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's not him, it's the writer.

SPEAKER_03

I know, I know. And it's not even a uh a jeer. I just thought it was funny because they were at a basketball, or they were it wasn't a basketball game. They were watching in a gym, a high school gym, the band, and he said they were trying to come up with uh the eleven the 11th clue, which was Piper's Piping, and she said, Well, what about bagpipes? And he said, night, he said, It's nice, or he said, bagpipes. I said nice, not punishment. And I was like, Oh, you said a dagger to my heart. So that was my jeer.

SPEAKER_00

Uh my only one would be where's the Chicago accent?

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you couldn't find anyone with the Chicago, like, no, not in the restaurants, not on the street, not the vendors, no, not the hotel people, like no one can say box. You know what I mean? Like, I need a pop out of the box. Like I grew up in Chicago, and when I go home, I in it there is a specific Chicago accent that you will recognize if you go there. You know, I mean, it's just it's and so I'm like, I would just like to hear it occasionally from someone, you know?

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So that's true.

SPEAKER_03

You're you're right.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So anyway, that would be my biggest jeer, but that's not even really a jeer, but yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's funny.

SPEAKER_00

Speak like the people where you're you know, where you're supposed to be. All right. So what was your tinsel topped moment?

SPEAKER_03

Um, I would have to say the rooftop, the at the end, the kiss.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He was just rambling and she said shut up and grabbed him and kissed him. I just thought that was perfect.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I liked it because like right before that, where he left her a clue.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And then she had to go find him because that was the whole thing, you know, the scavenger hunt. So I I would agree that would be mine as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'll add that to it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. All right. So, out of five ornaments, how many are you hanging on the tree?

SPEAKER_03

I'm giving this one a four, seven, five for me.

SPEAKER_00

Excellent, excellent.

SPEAKER_03

What about you?

SPEAKER_00

It was so enjoyable. I would go like a 4.25. Okay. Yeah. I mean, I thought I really enjoyed it. We literally laughed out loud. I thought it was a great movie. Tyler Hines is just so good.

SPEAKER_03

He is a nice movie.

SPEAKER_00

At the delivery, at some of like the comedic lines, even though they're not comedy for him, he's supposed to be serious in some parts. And he just, you know, it's it's just so good. And Mallory was so exuberant in this at times, and yet she was so good in this, I thought.

SPEAKER_03

I loved her nips. It's hard to believe she's from Australia.

SPEAKER_00

She's Australian, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

God, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

She does a really good American experience.

SPEAKER_03

Really good job. Really good job. All right. So is that a wrap?

SPEAKER_00

That's a wrap.
