We are breaking out the champagne today. My latest book, How Doctors Build True Wealth, is in production.

Now, in this episode, I'd like to share with you:

  • what this book is about,
  • why it took almost four years to get it into your hands,
  • and how you might be able to leverage this book to attract, engage, and serve more doctor clients.

Welcome to the Engaging Doctors Podcast.

If you are a financial advisor who wants to accelerate your business growth by attracting, engaging, and serving more doctor clients — you are in the right place.

I'm Dr. Vicki Rackner, your host. I'm a retired surgeon who has spent the past 15 years helping financial advisors crack the physician code and reach the doctors who want and need their help.

I have a deep interest in doctors and their relationship with money. I've interviewed hundreds of doctors and summarized what I found in my previous books:

  • The Nine Money Mistakes That Doctors Make
  • The Myth of the Rich Doctor

Let me begin with the four-year saga behind this new book.

It all started when a colleague asked me:
“What’s the one thing successful financial advisors do differently when working with doctors?”
That simple question sparked the idea for this book.

I wanted to create not just a guide — but a resource filled with actionable insights.

As I began gathering stories, experiences, and strategies, I noticed something important:
The path to wealth-building is very different for doctors than for most people.

  • Doctors start their careers with massive debt.
  • They begin earning later in life.
  • They operate in high-stress environments.
  • And most have no formal education about personal finance.

If you're going to reach them, you need to understand not just the math of money — but the mindset behind it.

That’s what this book is really about — giving you the tools, language, and insights to build trust and deliver real value to doctor clients.

One of my early challenges was figuring out how to organize the book.

Should it be a tactical manual?
 A collection of case studies?
A personal reflection on money and medicine?

I rewrote the outline countless times. I conducted more interviews. I sought out editors.
At one point, I even set the project aside.
But the vision never left me.

Eventually, I found a structure that worked — one that blends:

  • Real stories
  • Proven strategies
  • And practical tools

Each chapter stands on its own — but also contributes to one central message:
True wealth for doctors isn't just about money. It’s about freedom, purpose, and legacy.

One key part of the book is my TrueWealth Framework — a model that helps advisors guide doctors through both the emotional and financial aspects of their journey.

We cover topics like:

  • Burnout
  • Imposter syndrome
  • The emotional toll of delayed gratification

If you, as a financial advisor, can acknowledge and speak to these issues, you'll build stronger, deeper relationships.

On the tactical side, we dive into:

  • How to start meaningful conversations with doctors
  • How to position your services effectively
  • And how to handle common objections doctors have

There's even a section on how to ethically grow your practice through doctor referrals.

Throughout the writing process, I kept coming back to one truth:
Doctors don’t want salespeople — they want advocates.

They want experts who understand them, not just their income level.

When you become that person — someone who sees them as human beings with complex lives — you become invaluable.

This book wasn’t created in isolation. I’ve worked closely with financial professionals for years, and many of the book’s insights come directly from them.

Some chapters were sparked by real conversations, like:

“This approach helped me land my biggest client.”
“This one idea changed everything.”

That’s the power of shared wisdom.
This is not just my voice — it’s a chorus of experience, both wins and lessons learned.

My hope is that as you read this book, you will:

  • Recognize your own strengths
  • Discover new ways to connect with doctors
  • And leave with renewed confidence in your ability to serve them well

So what's next?

If you're hearing this near launch time, the book is either available now — or will be very soon.

I’ll be releasing resources to help you use it as:

  • A conversation starter
  • A marketing tool
  • A credibility booster

Imagine sending a signed copy to a prospect.
Or hosting a webinar based on one chapter.
Or designing a new service just for doctors — using the book as your foundation.

This book isn’t just for reading.
 It’s for using.
It’s a bridge between your expertise and the hearts and minds of the doctors you want to reach.

Let me close with a heartfelt thank you — for being here, for doing meaningful work, and for supporting this journey.

Writing this book took longer than I imagined — but I truly believe it was worth the wait.

I’m proud of what we’ve created, and I can’t wait to see how you use it.
