Speaker 1:

Welcome to another episode of. They've Been Doing it All Day, sir. It's been raining, it's been pouring and Jake Chivojevic has been snoring. Let's get stuck in.

Speaker 2:

How's the week been, mate?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's been really good cheers. A bit disappointing on the weekend, though. Went to the Duke of Clarence in Wynyard for a roast and Shocking, honestly shocking.

Speaker 2:

I went to DY Hotel for a roast and shocking, honestly shocking. I went to dy hotel for a roast on sunday, also shocking it was.

Speaker 1:

It was diabolical, so we'd. There was such a good review about it and I'd heard from people that it was. It was pretty awesome um toby carvery standard.

Speaker 2:

If that the you can't knock a toby carvery eight pounds. Eat as much, yeah, but that's eight pounds all inclusive.

Speaker 1:

Like keep going where we've just paid 35 dollars, yeah, for the privilege of having reheated meat. So it was wow, yeah, not great was it an english style roast, though.

Speaker 2:

Did you get your yorkshire? Yeah, yeah at dyrsl, not dyrsl dy hotel. It was advertised as a roast, so you go in and you think oh yeah, brilliant. I'm going to get Yorkies. I'm going to get roast potatoes, I've got a bit of roast carrot, some beetroot, a bit of pork, peas and gravy over the top. I was a bit like it's not quite cutting it. It's not quite cutting the mustard. One of my colleagues actually went to somewhere in Paddington Okay, yes, the Duke of Clarence, no, that's where we were or Duke of something.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was reading that. I think that place is number one.

Speaker 2:

And because of Instagram, because of everything, you have to be there at 12.30 and apparently the queue's out the door and it's full straight away. So it's one of those ones that's a bit risky.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, I'm going to cook my own this weekend. Nice bit of roast lamb and it's going to be much better.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, fair enough, fair enough.

Speaker 1:

How's your week been?

Speaker 2:

Still recovering from Sydney I reckon Still recovering from the Sydney test. I know we've spoken about it before, but I swear I've not been able to get warm over the last week. One thing they don't warn you about having kids as well is that when they start going to school and daycare they bring back every illness going, and I think I'm on the receiving end of another bout of illness, potentially starting to feel a bit achy. I'm good. I have to get the lemon sips out again.

Speaker 2:

The lemon sips out yeah, but also after the lions tour, I think I'm on a bit of a detox as well. Started taking someone's advice and drinking lemon water in the morning, so we're gonna see how that goes, see how that goes.

Speaker 2:

But, um, quite a successful episode last week. I know most views that you've had on a video which was quite impressive. So if you're new to this video or if you're new to the channel, please make sure you hit that subscribe button. Every subscriber we appreciate and we're trying to march on towards our goal, our first big goal of 100 subscribers. So, yeah, if you can hit that subscribe button, hit the like button, we really appreciate it. But, yeah, the illness side of things I make them I'm making. But talking to the lion's, yes, thought it might be a good idea to uh break down. I don't know how much our Lions tour cost us. Now, before I reveal some of the prices, this is something that has been in the making for I mean what since we first met each other, which was about three years ago.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So we've been saving and planning and putting stuff in place. So we've paid this amount over a period of time yeah, about two years, about two years. But it all kicked off what? Two years ago, when that Wallabies First membership came out and I messaged you, I was like, should we get it? Didn't know whether we'd need it. But in retrospect and hindsight I'm glad we did get it because some of the prices that we're hearing people paid for tickets was a lot more than we did. So we split that one in half. That was $1,000 each. That Wallaby's first membership Sounds like a lot, but I think our total ticket price, which I'll cover in a minute, was a bit less than what it would have been if we had to try and source the tickets on our own the tests we paid $199 for each of our tickets. Do you reckon our seats reflected $199 worth?

Speaker 1:

yeah, you know what I think. If you look at the first test, the Suncorp pretty incredible view. That's the closest I've ever been to a pitch, the view being unreal. Mcg was incredible and then we looked out with the members' tickets, so can't really comment on that, but no, it's been pretty awesome, to be honest.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I agree, and in the warm-up test I treated us a little bit. For the Canberra, down in the cold, although still exposed to every single element going, and probably the coldest I've ever been in Australia, that one was $109. The Waratahs game at the Allianz was $89 and then over in Perth, being the cheapest ticket against the Western Force was $60, which great ticket for $60. Brilliant. So in total, including the membership, our tickets came to $1,855, which, going by the prices people we were hearing people were paying for test tickets in similar similar area.

Speaker 2:

I think that works out. It was a fairly good deal and that's the ones that we paid off in advance yeah, that was, that was paid ages off.

Speaker 2:

Yeah yeah, and in flight. So we flew to Perth, brisbane and Melbourne and we drove down to Canberra. But our flights to Perth I didn't realize they were this expensive. Now looking back at it, jeez, $636, which when I looked at it I was like, were they that much? Must have just paid it and gone. We'll worry about that another time. But Brisbane, I paid $303. I used some of my velocity points that I'd got from traveling around, but I think it only took like 80 bucks off or something like that, so not too much difference. And then melbourne I used, uh, quite a few velocity points and it was 175 dollars, with the petrol down to canberra being 60 dollars. I used a full tank and a bit of the old chimney ricketing down there. Total for the flights and travel or petrol was 1174 dollars. I don't think that's that bad to travel around. We lucked out with the accommodation.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, perth, we stayed with with my family, free accommodation, easy banging lasagna lasagna, grateful english yeah, grateful english was absolutely stuffed by the time I came back from Perth and that was weekend one of the Lions trip, so it was very much a foreshadow of what was going to happen over the next few weeks. Brisbane you paid for the accommodation, which I think was about the same as what I paid for Melbourne, wasn't it?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was about 390,. I think it was.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I put Melbourne down as 300 because I did get some money back and I also paid a deposit, but I couldn't find how much I paid for the deposit, so I just put it down as $300. Okay, so, in total, accommodation fairly cheap, yeah, $300. Happy with that one. And then this one, the spending. This felt like it got a bit out of hand Looking at these prices. God, so the spending includes includes. Surely you've added up this correctly, man? So what I did? I'll give you my method of how I did it. I looked at both of the cards that I used. I selected the dates and the day after. Because some transactions came in the day after I went through each transaction and ones that were linked to our trip, I put in, yeah, um, food, booze programs and miscellaneous spends like toothpaste, deodorant, toothpaste that's a big one, so that's where all the money went in those things that we had to buy um.

Speaker 2:

So in perth, which we thought was a very expensive weekend yeah, was 483 dollars. Yep, then the day out in the or the Saturday in Sydney didn't go too hard whatsoever, we just had a few Guinnesses. Did we go to a Manny game the day before?

Speaker 1:

No, we went after the day after, didn't we?

Speaker 2:

Was it the day after? Either way, we only spent 82 bucks going to watch that game. Yeah, I can't remember, but there's a reason why didn't go too hard. Um then, when we drove down to Canberra, I think we bought a coffee, yep, mcdonald's and maybe an energy drink on the way home to get home. So 42 dollars for Canberra, this this is the one, this.

Speaker 1:

I don't believe this one. I don't believe this one. First, test.

Speaker 2:

I think we got a bit too excited on the first 610 buckaroos. 150 of that was before we even got to. Oh that was. Perth. Sorry. Looking at the bank statements, a lot of this was Finn McCool. It was like $34. It was $17 a Guinness.

Speaker 1:

Jesus.

Speaker 2:

Then we went over to that Cowboy place Cowboy.

Speaker 2:

And that was like $14 a pint. So we had five of those. It tops up plus pool, pool and darts and yep, yeah, so I think we spent about 40 bucks on that dinner and then even in the ground, like you, look at what $60 a round for four drinks. It was scandalous. So we spent $610 in Brisbane. Yeah, it was greatalous, so we spent 610 in brisbane. Um, yeah, it was great, great weekend, can't knock it. Then melbourne uh, I was ill, so you probably spent about 40 more than me on this. Yeah, but 395. And then this one blows me away a bit as well Sydney. We didn't have any travel any days before or days after 350 bucks, but, to be fair, there was a few mates that were out as well.

Speaker 1:

So we were in round systems. Rounds was expensive.

Speaker 2:

yeah, I looked at one bank statement it was like $68 or something, so that must have been around, so the total spending was 1961 dollars which over one, two, three four, five, six, yes, 300 ish, but a couple of them over a few days, so I don't think that's too bad. We actually were like properly going out every most nights.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's to eat as well like yeah, so.

Speaker 2:

And then other. So I mean the jersey, short socks for the full kit. Wanker, look up the scrum cap, the hat that you're wearing you got that half price actually $25, yeah. And then the shorts that I'm currently sporting were $45. So the jersey was $160, shorts $62.

Speaker 1:

But that is a Christmas present.

Speaker 2:

Socks $35,. Scrum hat $40,. Hat I pay full price 50,. But I got the shorts half price at 45. Total 392. So the grand total of what we spent to see a once in a four-year event which you've got to look at it like that, and what we'd planned for for two years or paid for over two years roughly was $5,682. Question I ask was it worth it? Don't get it in four years' time. Roughly was $5,682.

Speaker 1:

Question I ask was it worth it? I'm doing it again in four years' time, Exactly worth every single cent that we paid. It was incredible, and you can't look back at it like that, because it was just such a great atmosphere and a great experience. If I'm being perfectly honest, it doesn't feel like I've spent that much, and because it's been spent over two years as well, like everything's been paid off over two years. It's not just been one, one lump sum, um, so it's. It's been, I reckon, over the two two and a half years. It's uh, it's about two and a half grand, which is what?

Speaker 2:

two hundred dollars a month yeah, and I was tucking away money every month.

Speaker 1:

I saved a bit as well, so I also got made redundant, so that worked out nicely. A bit of cash that helps out, but let us know what you think in the comments below.

Speaker 2:

If you think that's expensive, if you went on the tour, if you traveled around, let us know what you think. But I know there was people that traveled over from £14,000, £15,000.

Speaker 1:

Minimum and that was just for the package.

Speaker 2:

That wasn't including any beers or anything like that so that was just for the test yeah, a lot of people were only there for two weeks so I mean, look, I feel it was a fairly cheap in relation to what other people were paying like. Very lucky to be able to do this, unfortunate to be able to do this. So, um, yeah, but new zealand in four years time could be spending a bit more. But with the lions tour over, I think that's it now. That's the end of talking about the lions tour. We're putting a line under it. What an experience. But let's get back to the nrl. Yeah, what a weekend of events. Oh, incredible, incredible results that have happened this week and that weekend. And it all kicked off on thursday night. Yep, storm against the broncos no, I just again.

Speaker 1:

I think I feel like the Storm have got away with one, in the sense of I couldn't agree more. They lost the Broncos, lost Cabo, reynolds, mamp within all in the space of a very short period of time.

Speaker 2:

Before that, I would arguably say, the Broncos were the better team 21 minutes. I actually think the Broncos were the better team. You then look at it, it's a mistake. That's cost them two of their players but still.

Speaker 1:

But then the knock-on effect of just losing those players shows Cobbo had arguably one of the first or second best tackle of the weekend.

Speaker 2:

In which the two of them got injured on.

Speaker 1:

In which the two of them got injured on. In which the two of them got injured on. I was reading somewhere everyone's like back in the storm to be one of the three to win the comp. I just you know what. I've sat here every week and just said not winning, but they're getting the wins, week in, week out, and they've done it without Jerome Hughes as well. Yeah, I'm still not convinced with them. I think the Panthers just look so much stronger than the Storm.

Speaker 2:

Well, great game coming up this weekend or this week.

Speaker 1:

So we'll see how they end up sort of working through. To be honest, I'm still not sold on the Storm.

Speaker 2:

Same but Broncos. Their season looks in tatters now that they've lost three key players. Reynolds is going to be back in four weeks. I don't think Cobber and Mam are going to be back until the final if they get there, so that kind of derails them. The Storm it's results like last week. Was it last week that they lost? I can't remember.

Speaker 2:

No, they haven't lost, they've just been close Like results against Manly, for example, and then them on the road is where I don't know. Oh sorry, they were tight against the Eels, the Eels didn't push them. We'll see how it goes. But yeah, they knock over the Broncos 22-2. I think it's a bit unfair on the Broncos to judge them off of this performance?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so do I, I think with that first half or first period where they just absolutely dominated, they were 2-0 up for such a long period of the game and they were 2-0 up for such a long period of the game, which shows how defensively solid they were. And then it was the break by Coates which opened them up, which injuries ended up dropping left, right and centre.

Speaker 2:

Never seen two hamstrings go on the same play, but the team that you did mention, the Penrith Panthers, go marching on.

Speaker 1:

Winning the cup 48-12.

Speaker 2:

Last week slip up against the Titans, but just a little blip, right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they're. Just look at them now they're in the four.

Speaker 2:

Rit them off 10 weeks ago.

Speaker 1:

Yeah and I think if this was any other season, I don't think they would be this close to the four, or in the four they're just. Everything's clicked at the right time for them finding form at the right time they are finding form every like the. The defensive issues that they had at the start of the season, like the knights, aren't a a bad attacking team and to shut them down.

Speaker 1:

So only two tries like, especially with your likes of dom young and bram, and best was back, who, who back? Who are very instrumental in it. The worries of what the Panthers' defence had at the start of the season is just no longer. I've watched something earlier where they were digging out the Panthers because they're like 10 points less a game attacking-wise than they were this time last year and it's like come on, man, they're going the whole way. They've got the mentality. They've got that dog mentality.

Speaker 2:

If they finish in the top four, which there's a very good chance, very good chance they will Huge game on Thursday against the Storm to really show where they are. But if they finish in the top four, do not count. I think they could be potential favourites to win Five peating, five peating. Be potential favourites to win Five peating, five peating. But do I even want to talk about this game.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to let you go first, because I've got to rant.

Speaker 2:

So the Canberra Raiders defeat the Manly Seagulls 28-12. I'm going to take one positive from this game and his name is Tolu Kola, the guy for such a shit season that Manly are having. The guy turns up week in, week out, runs through anyone, gasses. Anyone on the outside can score in many different ways, but it was so bad Like DCE. His head's gone. He's not with the club anymore, like he's elsewhere. Turbo scared to put his body on the line, maybe at fullback. And they both got shown up by Ethan Strange a number of times when he cuts back inside, when he's darting in and making the runs, but he was absolutely incredible. I don't think the Canberra Raiders looked like they were there for the beating early on and then they just took it up another gear. Josh Papaliti was fantastic. They just had so much aggression up front, which is what Manly missed, even Horsburgh getting amongst it and ruffling feathers. But Manly's season done does my aid in off you go.

Speaker 1:

yeah, and I'm going to start with that that with the, the Raiders were there, they, they sat back, they parked the bus and Manly couldn't do anything. And this is the thing that really infuriates me and has infuriated me all season how there isn't any change to the attacking system, how the coaches can sit in that box and be paid the money they're paid and not be able to change anything at halftime. Coming from sports like we have American football, where you dissect each team that you play against, you understand what they're going to run and then you change and you have options off that.

Speaker 2:

It's like they've got to draw plays up in the sand at halftime, which shouldn't happen.

Speaker 1:

It shouldn't but yes, it also should. That's why you're a coach. That's why you're a coach at the top level. You, that's why you're a coach at the top level. You should be able to do that, you should be able to change the system up.

Speaker 2:

But what I mean is they should have a plan B, they should have a plan C, but they don't, and they're drawing it up as they go along and you've got coach, you've got.

Speaker 1:

you can drop that on the players and the players not go into what the plans are but then you've got trainers that go on to be able to of having them there. Like every week, we've watched the halves be blitzed and completely stop the play. So why haven't we got dummy runners after halves? Why haven't we got an option B? If you can see that six or seven flying up, why isn't there an attacking runner to fill?

Speaker 2:

replace them, or an over the top, or a little grubber through. Perfect ball over the top this weekend.

Speaker 1:

I can't remember where it was, it looped over and then second to that, caveat to that we've had this inside second row run every week.

Speaker 2:

Not once has it made any sort of space and when it's Corey Waddell running the ball, it gets tackled at the line.

Speaker 1:

Yes, alicuota has made some after contact yardage, but it's always covered, yeah. So why aren't we running? So if you've got the seven coming up, you've got the second row coming out. So you, you're, if you have the the second row, start a little bit wider, have have a the full back or have another back from the other side coming in to replace and hit that middle gap, because you've got the seven blitzing, you've've got the second rower upon the second rower. In theory, there should be a gap there.

Speaker 2:

If you load numbers, if you can somehow change the numbers, there should be something somewhere.

Speaker 1:

And there was a period in the time where Fogarty made a tackle and was on the floor and was at marker and there was no quick sense to write their down numbers on their right-hand side. Now quick sense to write they're down numbers on their right hand side. Now on Manley's left. There was no intent to attack and then try and add up like when Turbo was coming in. It did. Look, there was a couple of metres game, but other than that it was dreadful, dreadful the attacking.

Speaker 2:

But he's not, turbo's not at the point where he used to be where he can take people on and run people over.

Speaker 1:

I'm sat in my armchair and I'm able to dissect this better than any other coaches, which is the infuriating thing Get him in the box.

Speaker 2:

Get him up in the box at four pints apart.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's my run over.

Speaker 2:

But hey look, raiders, favourites of the minor.

Speaker 1:

Next year.

Speaker 2:

Raiders, favourites of the minor prayer and, if I'm honest, I think they are favourites of the lot, our favourites of the lot. See what the Panthers do against the Storm this weekend.

Speaker 1:

But Raiders just look good. Yes they're just a solid team, to be honest.

Speaker 2:

They are Solid team. Next up. I predicted it, I said it was going to happen. Yep and the Dragons backed up their performance of last week and they beat the Sharks 22-14.

Speaker 1:

Sharks doing Sharks things.

Speaker 2:

Sharks doing Sharks things, but so gritty from the Dragons. They were digging deep in the last 15 minutes under a lot of pressure and it felt to me, as I was watching it, the ref was trying to do everything that they could to get the Sharks back in it.

Speaker 2:

The ref blows up for a penalty or for a knock-on or an incorrect play of the ball or whatever it was. Get them calls right first time so you don't get the dragons hype up so they think, oh, we got the ball. Then they go and review it and they got it incorrect. It just shows the standard of officiating isn't great, but controversial moment in this game uh, sloan went up to challenge for a ball, midair didn't get it and I can't remember the name of the guy who came down with it for the Sharks. But he was given a penalty. Try, I don't know whether you've managed to watch it. Look at it. But there's nothing Sloan's meant to do in the air like I don't know. He goes up like this, goes to catch the ball. What's he meant to be doing?

Speaker 1:

Well, what happened? It's very similar to our original one, wasn't it?

Speaker 2:

Toto versus Nah, it was nothing Like. Toto, you could see, was outjumped by Coates, yeah, and he's actually wrapped him midair from behind like I'm tackling you. Ah, okay, sloan's gone up one-on-one and he's come down with the guy and it's like, because he's come down, it's so in the in goal area, he's come down on his back. He's landed underneath sloan. Yeah, there's nothing he can do.

Speaker 1:

It should never have been a try, um but his eyes are on the wall, but sloan's eyes are always on the ball as well, which is um, which is the big thing exactly, uh, but sharks, you just don't know what to take of them make of them.

Speaker 1:

No, and I'm going to stop predicting what the Sharks are going to do, but I think I said it a few weeks ago I think my team I know we're not at the end of the season just yet, but my two teams to watch next season I think are going to be the Dragons and the Eagles. I think they could be teams to to sort of build on and watch for next season.

Speaker 2:

Tune in next season for our ladder predictions.

Speaker 1:

You never know.

Speaker 2:

We might get one better than what I said about the Canberra Raiders this year, but a team that all of a sudden is purring from nowhere. We said this was going to be a game of the round or a huge fixture, and it's these two, plus Manny, for fighting for the top eight, and the Roosters have blown away.

Speaker 1:

I think Spencer Lenu should go to the Broncos. Just because of how good he plays week in, week out at the Song Corps, yeah, like whenever he ventures there it's like just his pure hatred. Like he's a physical and aggressive player in the first instance, but when he gets there he's just a different man.

Speaker 2:

He is, and there was some kind of chat that I saw an nrl 360 yesterday that was saying should it had just been spencer lenu that went to the bin, because he kind of comes in and he's giving it a big and like he's about to punch, uh molo, I think it was. Yeah, um, and then it all kicks off from there. The referee, I feel, did a great job of saying yeah, I've warned you and now all four of you are going to.

Speaker 1:

I think it stomps it out straight away as well, especially that early, Because if he had given any sort of leeway to Spencer Lenu and said this is what we've seen, but we're only going to punish one of you, it would have escalated from there, I reckon.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and was it Siwa Wong that got knocked out Pretty brutal. He's not been named this week. Obviously category one.

Speaker 1:

But brutal.

Speaker 2:

Um, he's not been named this week, obviously category one, uh, but the loss of herbie farmworth for the dolphins is huge, massive, easily the best center in the competition. Yeah, I'm at present, so it'd be interesting to see how the dolphins bounce back from this. I know they've got manly next week. Um, which I, if we lose that, if manly lose that? Wait, well, man, manny, have got to win all four in order to try and make the eight.

Speaker 1:

Is that going to be your son's first game?

Speaker 2:

it is look. Last time the Dolphins played at Brookie we were there 50 odd, wasn't it? 50 odd maybe even touch 60, not too sure. But one thing that we haven't got, that the Roosters have attack is a physical pack. Yeah, nafai White was just in there causing mayhem. Spencer Lenu causing mayhem, angus Crichton. I loved it when Lenu went over and shushed the crowd.

Speaker 1:

I thought that he's just a different. Like I said, he's a different animal when it comes to the Suncorp, he's fantastic.

Speaker 2:

Roosters favourite out of the three for the top eight. I think, so I think so. I even think they've got to be they. I think so, I think so, I even think they've got to be they can't be slept on as a dark horse for the premiership. We'll see how that one goes. And then the dogs get a win in the rain they beat. The Waz injury struck New Zealand Warriors 32-14.

Speaker 1:

Warriors are fully on the slide though I know and this is, I think you've you've jotted down here, but it's a bold claim what you've got written down.

Speaker 2:

Warriors a chance of not making the eight. It's bold. What's the table?

Speaker 1:

looking like it's bold, like they're on 30 points at the moment yeah, they're only two points above so that would be no, the four points above Roosters and Dolphins. And how, oh yeah, so so that would be no, the four points above roosters and dolphins and how?

Speaker 2:

oh yeah, so it could. Mathematically it could happen exactly. So if everyone wins and the Warriors keep losing, I mean it's not mathematically impossible it's not mathematically impossible and the Warriors aren't looking.

Speaker 2:

Without Metcalf few other injuries that are going in there they need to get a winning shot just to cement that top eight spot. Yep, so we'll see how that one goes. But dogs again turn it on in the rain. Um, do you know what I will shout out? Actually, a lot of the indigenous kits this weekend were absolutely unreal. They were banging like the. The reason why I say that is the dogs.

Speaker 1:

One was real slick tim tim burton um matty burton with an absolute unreal 2020.

Speaker 2:

It was enormous, Probably the biggest 2020 that's ever been kicked.

Speaker 1:

I swear he's got an absolute boot and a half on him, hasn't he?

Speaker 2:

It was absolutely huge. But yeah, dogs solidifying their spot in the top four. They're starting to hit back from last week. They've just got to go on a bit of a run now to really show that they can push in the last few weeks.

Speaker 2:

I've got the Roosters this week, so that'll be Another huge. There's two huge games this week that will give us an idea of how, where everyone is sort of sitting at the moment. But Spoon Bowl Latrell. I did say I did say if Latrell was playing, the Rabbitohs win this, but a huge moment of controversy at the end massive, massive.

Speaker 1:

I was, we were in, we were in the city at this point and I was watching it and I was like I was watching how's that not giving a penalty?

Speaker 2:

I?

Speaker 1:

was like he's literally armbarred him across the face. Like how's that not a penalty?

Speaker 2:

one thing fair play, campbell, for getting up and not milking it. A lot of applaud for that, because there's a number of people that would have stayed down trying to beg for the bunker to look at it. But secondly, the NRL have come out and apologised, which is absolute bollocks and said it should have scored. Well, yeah, he was running. Yeah, but he's running through a gap in which someone stopped him.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, as in sorry, he should have scored, was it him?

Speaker 2:

Oh sorry, latrell Mitchell, when he came in?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he was over the line and got tackled, which you know. Big players, mate. Big players, it's an origin play posts, but when you're that close to the posts anyway, just flop over in this sort of a type of a game like I get what you're saying unreal tackle boy this is what I was saying referring to earlier is like the two best tackles of the weekend has to be the cobo on coats and then this and this, because that that is unreal, like that's, that's playing to the whistle.

Speaker 2:

It is, it is, and he is a difference maker he is massively huge two points for the Rabbitohs.

Speaker 2:

Titans got to be spooners. Tigers are dancing in there on their bye week that the Titans lost because they now, I think, are pretty safe. Final game of the weekend. Didn't think it would be this close. The Parramatta Eels defeat the North Queensland Cowboys 19-18, with Mitch Moses slotting a game winning field goal. With a decent amount of time left, and then some controversy at the end of this one as well. Did you manage to catch this one?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was watching most of it. Didn't see the ending of it, though, unfortunately so Addo.

Speaker 2:

Carr. I don't know who's booted. Dearden maybe has booted it into the air. Addo Carr's, I don't know who's booted, aldean maybe has booted it into the air. Addo Carr's staring at it, probably thinking if I drop this, I'm going to give him a scrum 10 meters out. So he's gone to try first touch it and trap it under his foot, completely muffed it. Ball's gone forward, cowboys have recovered it and then I can't remember who runs it in, but there's clear obstruction. Well, but this is what I mean, moses. According to Todd Payton, which I kind of agree, moses has gone down pretty soft, but it was a penalty. So time expires as he goes down and scores, but then they go to review and it was taken away. But great win for the eels cowboys huge win.

Speaker 1:

Huge win for where the eels sort of feel like they, they sort of should be he's beating those teams in and around them and then, for next season, working on being the top of the ladder yeah, I think they're.

Speaker 2:

I think they're gonna mean business next year dylan brown came back in at center but um, and obviously he's not going to be there next year, but they've got some great talent. I think Yongi's been named again this week. So, yeah, one to look out for, but not a bad week for the tips, especially for some of the split ones. For me. I've fucking got two. I think I had a fairly decent week on the tips there. But yeah, let's look ahead to round 24 then and it kicks off with an absolute barnstormer of a fixture.

Speaker 2:

So Thursday night 7.50. We've got the Penrith Panthers at $1.50. Big favourites against the Melbourne Storm $2.60.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to go for the Panthers. I've gone against the Storm the whole time for the last few weeks and it's not happened, so but this is the one, this is the one I believe is going to, is going to go in the favour of myself and I think the Panthers are going to just absolutely out, muscle them and see it over.

Speaker 2:

Ryan Pappenhausen is out for the Storm. Big news Jerome Hughes is obviously out for the storm. Even bigger news it's got to be the penrith panthers, all right the form they're in. I'm going to tip the penrith panthers in this one as well unreal.

Speaker 1:

And then the first game on the friday at six o'clock. We've got the new zealand warriors at $1.53 versus the st george ilawara dragons at $.51.

Speaker 2:

Warriors are meant to be good at home. Right, but they haven't put in. They've got back-to-back losses. Surely they can't lose the third game in a row at home. Who's out? Moses Souli is out. Moneyman's back Is he named to start? No, I don't think he is so interesting one, this one. Can the Dragons go three wins in a row? I don't think they do. I'm going to up the wars in this one. I'm going to go for the New Zealand Warriors to get those two points they need to secure themselves in the eight.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think I'm going to agree with you there. I think they've just got to bounce back some way, and I know the Dragons have been a good run of. I just think there was. We'll just nip this one yeah, and then Friday night.

Speaker 2:

What a fixture this could be. We have the Sydney Roosters sitting 9th in the table $2.18 against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs $1.68.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to go the Roosters. I just think they've got the edge, physicality wise, $1.68. I'm going to go the Roosters.

Speaker 2:

I just think they've got the edge physicality-wise over the Dogs. Just this is a real difficult one, just Big.

Speaker 1:

Marky.

Speaker 2:

Mark is coming into his own. If you want things to happen, you give it to Big Marky. Mark Billy Smith has had a great few games. Daniel Tupo seems to be scoring. Tedesco is on for the Dele M.

Speaker 1:

And also you've got to look at Hugo Savala and Sam Walker and show why they don't need DCE.

Speaker 2:

Well, interestingly, I saw an interview with Sam Walker and it's almost like he was saying he'll be welcomed at our club, not, he would be welcomed if he came. It's a bit like it's already done, but there's also talks that it might not be done as well, so it'd be interesting to go uh see how it goes. I'm gonna go for the bulldogs in this one. I reckon it's players like stephen crichton's time to step up, um, and I'm gonna pick the canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.

Speaker 1:

Okay, nice, nice. And then the first game on the Saturday three o'clock kickoff. We've got the Sharks at $1.31 against the Gold Coast Titans at $3.44.

Speaker 2:

Sharks at home. Surely I've got to win this. I can't. Titans have looked good. They have improved. I don't think they've improved enough to beat the Granada Sharks, so I'm going to tip the Granada.

Speaker 1:

Sharks in this one. Yeah, I'm going to. I'm going to go to the Sharks as well. I think they've got, they've got. This is a must win for them. Yeah, keeping that sort of top eight alive.

Speaker 2:

If there's an unpredictable team that they could get, the Titans could get a win against. It could be the Sharks. For them to make up for last week's loss, but we'll see how it goes. Queensland Derby.

Speaker 1:

At the Suncorp With a lot of injuries.

Speaker 2:

A lot of injuries. We got the Brisbane Broncos $1.70. Yep.

Speaker 1:

Broncos $1.70 against the Dolphins $2.15. Ooh, I just look at the back lines and I just think the Dolphins edge it and that's where I think it's going to be won. You've got, obviously, payne Asse, who's absolutely unreal, patty Carrigan, who's unreal, but I'm going to go for the Dolphins in this.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to oh, amphins in this. I'm going to oh am, I, am, I, am, I. I'm so on the fence with this one, because the Dolphins without Farnworth I think lose a big power player, obviously, but he runs through people offloads, he gets around people's speed, solid in defence as well, but then the loss of three key Broncos players, yeah, I'm going to go? I reckon no, I'm going to have to go. Dolphins, I'm going to have to draw you on that one and go for the Dolphins.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and then the last Saturday kickoff. We've got the Rabbitohs at 2.26 against the Parramatta Eels at $1.64.

Speaker 2:

I reckon Eels go back to back. Yeah, yongi's back. They look good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, mitch Moses is purring.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, cody Walker has been named. I don't think he's on the extended bench, isn't he? So I don't think they'll risk him.

Speaker 1:

No. With his hamstring the trails in the centres. Yeah, I reckon the Eels win this one, okay. Yeah, I'm going to agree with you on that.

Speaker 2:

I think this has got Eels, eels win on it and then we go to the 2pm game on Saturday. I'm thinking of going to this one. By the way, if you want to join, just for something to do. Sorry, on the Sunday, not the Saturday, probably not 2pm on the Sunday. We've got the West Tigers at $2.51 against the Manly Warringah Seagulls at $1.53.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to go. Manly Seagulls Lehigh Hapuati's back in the team and he's scoring a hat-trick.

Speaker 2:

Caleb Navarro is named on the bench as well, which is good to see, but a young talent hopefully get a big. I'm surprised Michael Cheekham's been dropped straight away. That's one thing actually. You mentioned he was very impressive at second row. I don't know why he's been dropped Now. You've mentioned it. Yeah, he shot out the line with speed, he ran and he had footwork of like Ethan Bullimore Runs up with speed, quick little dance before. That is really surprising. Now that you said that. Look, I reckon Manly are going to win this, I do think we've got enough for the Tigers. We'll see. We will see for sure.

Speaker 1:

Last game. We've got the Cowboys at 146 against the knights at 275 up in townsville oh, what a dross fixture to finish the weekend.

Speaker 2:

No disrespect to cowboys or knights fans, but they're not the most inspiring teams at present. I'm gonna go with the queensland cowboys to get a victory at home. They did all right against the Eels.

Speaker 1:

Jake Arthurs started his.

Speaker 2:

Did he start there? Last week he played against the Panthers. He was playing against the Panthers Interesting.

Speaker 1:

Do you know what I'm going to go for? As I always like to do when I'm sort of split, I'm going to go for the New South Wales team and I'm going to go to the Newcastle Knights Fair the Newcastle Knights.

Speaker 2:

Fair play, fair play. So Canberra Raiders on a buy guaranteed two points for them. They're absolutely ticking along.

Speaker 1:

What a time to have a buy as well, just for the end of the season.

Speaker 2:

Can't moan at that one, no. But finishing it off, footy's back, footy's back.

Speaker 2:

And when we talk about football for you Australians out there we mean soccer, soccer, but football, the footballing league, so not the premiership but the leagues below the premiership kicked off this weekend, last weekend, sorry, with the championship. My league one kicked off the week before. Oh, did it yeah. Oh, fair enough, I'll shut my mouth, but championship kicked off. Yeah, your boys. Big Birmingham City, the Blues taking on the recently so Birmingham recently promoted from league one on the recently so birmingham recently promoted from league one, ipswich, recently relegated from the premiership how did it go?

Speaker 1:

dominated them. Uh, I think one one very much reflects an ipswich squid. We had a birmingham had a goal disallowed which I don't think should have been disallowed, and then they had a penalty in the last minute, which you well saying this um, what was I? What was I watching the Liverpool game? The exact same incident, but because it was against Liverpool, they didn't get a penalty.

Speaker 1:

Crystal Palace didn't get a penalty, don't even get excited, but no, solid, solid start, if I'm being perfectly honest for a team that's just come up from League 1, how we dominated them, like we, out of possession, where we made them.

Speaker 2:

They look scared at times both yourselves and Wrexham, I think, will. They played Southampton didn't they yeah lost 2-1, lost 2-1, but by all accounts they were 1-0 for 89 minutes.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, fairly solid performance.

Speaker 2:

I think yourselves and Wrexham will put a bit.

Speaker 1:

I think we're going to learn that we need to put games to bed, whereas last season we won a lot of 1-0, 2-0s, even though it was quite shaky.

Speaker 2:

I think the championship.

Speaker 1:

You need to put games to bed, otherwise it'll bite you on the arse yeah who you got this week Blackburn away taking over 7,300 no, 7,030 fans are travelling up to Blackburn sitting the away end not a great place to go, but absolute shit hole.

Speaker 2:

It is a shit hole. Shout out all the Blackburn fans out there. But Premiership kicks off this weekend as well, and you mentioned about Crystal Palace. They are current FA Cup holders and Community Shield victors against Liverpool. Beating them on penalties this weekend very poor penalty shootout. I don't know, whether you watched it, but yeah, chelsea Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge watched a few of Chelsea's pre-season games against Bayer Leverkusen, who are a good team. They went undefeated. What was it the season before?

Speaker 1:

last.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, decent squad beat them 2-0. And then we played AC Milan, but one of their centre-backs got sent off in a friendly after 20 minutes and it kind of ruined the preparation yeah look little vulnerable at the back, you just won the World Cup as well.

Speaker 2:

We have 13 days off. Players had 13 days off. 64 games, 13 days off and then back into it. That's mad. So it'll be interesting to see how we go against Crystal Palace. That's on Sunday, 11 o'clock. Might stay up, for that might give that one a watch we're playing midnight on Saturday.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, midnight on Saturday, Sunday, so I might stay up.

Speaker 2:

Fair play. But that's the end of another episode. Thank you again for tuning in. Be sure to hit that subscribe button. Give us a like. Every little helps and we will catch you in the next one.

Speaker 1:

See you next week.
