Hi, welcome back to the On with Amanda Medicare podcast. I'm Amanda. Um wanted to put a little note out there. Pretty timely, very important. Um, it is true that Medicare is reissuing about 1.3 million uh Medicare numbers, and you will receive a new card. Um, it'll come in the mail from Health and Human Services. Um, it won't be the same number as what you had before. A couple important things I want you to know about that. So, yes, they are reissuing numbers, um, but it doesn't mean that your account has been compromised. It really was out of an abundance of caution. Um, so there's no way to know for sure if you're going to get one or not. Um, I want you to know that because I want you to know that if you get a new card, it's real. I want you to know that it doesn't mean that anything was compromised. But I also want you to know that Medicare is not gonna call you. Social Security is not gonna call you, your doctor's office, your insurance company is not gonna call you to ask you for that number. So, just as I'm letting you know about this update today, we know unfortunately there are people in the world who will try to take advantage of this situation. You know, hackers, scammers, whoever. If you get a phone call from somebody who's asking for your new Medicare number, you should hang up on them. Um, if you're worried that you might not be giving someone official information that they need, once you've hung up, if you feel uncomfortable about that, call the 1-800 Medicare number yourself and just confirm with them that you indeed were issued a new number. You can confirm it with them, right? Because you initiated that phone call. It's not someone who's trying to scam you and get your information. So cards were supposed to be issued in March, April, which is right about now. Um, if you haven't gotten one, you may not. Keep an eye on the mailbox. I think by May, any ones that are going to be reissued will be. And again, if somebody calls you telling you that they need to confirm your new number, hang up on them. Don't feel bad about it. They're they're not calling for a good reason. Hang up, call when 800 Medicare, they'll confirm that they sent you your new number, and then everything will be good. I hope this helps. Um, I don't want anyone to give out information they're not supposed to, so uh protect that. It's important. Um, hope this was helpful. Feel free to like and subscribe. And uh looking forward to see you in my next podcast. Thanks for listening to another episode of the I'm with Amanda Medicare podcast.
