Lift Your Battles To Higher Ground
What if you changed the arena where your battles play out? We begin with a vivid parable—an eagle that refuses to fight a snake on the ground—and use it to rethink anxiety, prayer, and the way faith shifts the terms of struggle. Instead of wrestling worry at its strongest point, we explore how prayer and fasting “take the fight to the air,” where fear loses footing and God’s peace goes on guard.
Grounded in Philippians 4:6–7, we get practical about how to ask boldly and give thanks before anything changes. That gratitude is more than etiquette; it’s a declaration that God’s character is steady when circumstances are not. We talk through common anxiety triggers—work, money, relationships, spiritual dryness—and show how worship, reverence, and honest petitions create a new mental climate. You’ll hear why peace that “surpasses understanding” is not fragile or vague but protective, like a garrison around thoughts and emotions.
We keep it real about our own struggles with anxiety, open the door for prayer requests, and offer a spoken prayer over every listener—families, skeptics, and the weary alike. Along the way, there’s humor, community, and an invitation to bring feedback as we grow together. If you’re ready to lift your worries higher, this conversation will give you language, tools, and hope to change the battleground.
If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs peace today, and leave a review so others can find it. Tell us: what worry are you lifting to God this week?
Tell you a little story about the eagle and the snake. You see, eagles they don't fight snakes on the ground. The way the eagle attacks the snake is that an eagle understands that if you fight the snake on the ground, the snake will always win because the snake is more comfortable on the ground. So the eagle will take the snake high up in the air. High up in the air. Where it's uncomfortable. He'll throw it way up in the air and then grab it again. Because in the air the snake has no stamina. He has no ground. The snake cannot fight back. So the eagle grabs it again. Because in the sky, the snake is weak, useless, and vulnerable. So you see, when you take a prayer or a problem into the prayer realm, you are literally taking that snake into the air. And that's what happens when you pray and fast. You are literally taking those issues into the spirit world. There, my friend, you will have the upper hand through our Lord and Savior Jesus by breaking those strongholds. You may not see the visible results right away, but those things will shift in the realm of the spirit world. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Guys, I don't know about you, but I am not an anxious free person, I am not an anxiety-free person. I try to live in the Bible and stay prayed up, but um it's a dark world, and when we're in the dark place and we're in need of God's help, why exactly do you think the scripture instructs us to thank him even before anything is changed? In today's passage of Philippians chapter 4, verse 6 and 7, which says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God with which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The word prayer and petition referring to ask God for something, right? Expressing our needs or wants to Him. But then it comes to the word Thanksgiving. What exactly are we supposed to be thankful for? Well, the reason we thank God before anything has changed about our situation is because no matter what we're feeling, anxiety or what we're anxious about, whether it's a relationship, a job, school, money, spiritual status, or anything else, God cares enough about us to want to hear about it. So we also thank God because whatever solution He had already written in the book of our name, whatever solution is already out there that he has planning is obviously the best solution. There is none better. So why do we worry so much? What sort of thoughts are allowing you to take up space in your mind? Food for thought. Verse twenty eight. Let us worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. We are we are over a thousand listeners now, and we are trying to grow this thing. So if you guys have any questions, any comments, please put it in the comment section down below. And if you have any prayer requests, please do the same so we can pray for you, me and my wife Courtney. And I just want to say thank you to my little uh Frenchie boys who have been snoring through the whole podcast. I'm sure you guys can hear it. That's uh Kirby and Bennett, and one just kind of rubbed up against me, knowing I'm talking about him. But they are awesome, awesome dogs, and I love them so much. But guys, I just want to say, man, thank you for listening. I love you guys. I'm gonna say a prayer for you right now. Um Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you today, Lord, this uh beautiful day you have given us, Lord, everything that you do for us, Lord. You listen to petition, Lord, you you answer our calls, Lord, you already know the answer before we even ask you. We thank you so much for that, Lord, and we thank you for just being there and knowing, Lord, knowing our anxieties, our worries, our problems, and knowing that you already have an answer worked out for those. I pray for everybody who's listening on this podcast today. I pray for everybody in the world, Lord, that the people who don't know you can come see you, can feel you, can know the story of Jesus Christ. Lord, I pray for those people. Lord, I also pray for my family, me and my wife. Sometimes we get it down in anxiety and depression and that sort of thing, but Lord, we know that uh through you anything is possible and you already have the answers, Lord. We um we know this, Lord, that you are a good God. You are such a good Father, your grace, your mercy abounds like nothing. You are the highest of high, the King of Kings, Lord. And I just pray for the well-being and um everybody. I just pray that everybody has a new found glory in you. I pray for revival, Lord. It's in Jesus' name we pray these things. Well, guys, once again, I thank you for hanging out with me today on my podcast, and uh, hope you like the little music editions that I've entered, the sound effects and beats or whatnot. Um but like I said, if you have any, I like creative criticism. I don't get my underwear in a wad because somebody tells me I they think I could sound better doing something else. I mean, that's how countries are formed, that's how nations are formed. People talk creative criticism. You know, it's a great thing. Um, thank you guys for being in the army of God. Thank you guys for being children of God. I love you. It's the Food for Thought Faith Cast. I'm your host, B Rob. God bless you. Have a wonderful day.
