Well, hey guys. It's B Rob. And it's the Food for Thought Faith Cast. And it's a new week. It's Monday, February the 2nd. Yeah. We're going to be doing a uh five, not a five part, but it's actually 19 parts. So it's going to be a week or two long. It's going to be a podcast series, and then we're going to turn that into a book for Bible study. It's going to be for men. It's going to be called Man After God Bible Study. And just guys, man, God is good. Life is good. Even when you ain't got no money, even when you're behind on your bills, we're praising God anyway through the storm. Because God, when you have faith in God, this world don't matter. When you keep your mind on things above and not on earthly things. Yeah, this world don't matter. It don't matter. Had to get some uh water to go with my coffee. Everybody needs a little of both, you know. Everybody needs a lot of water, actually, and a little coffee. Yep. That's what we need. But guys, uh, before we get into it, uh check out the website www.forchministry.com. And there you can click the podcast links and listen to old episodes, listen to new episodes, you can click my music link. Um you can click my music link, and uh you can also check out the t-shirts, the t-shirt designs that I have, and then um if you want a custom shirt, if you want a Bible verse, your favorite verse, whatever, you can we can do that as well. Um well guys, we're gonna get into it. We're we're gonna try to keep this under 30 minutes, but it is what it is, and um if you're just tuning in, uh we want to welcome you to the Man After God Bible series. This is a Bible study podcast, and it's gonna be a book series as well for anyone who wants more than just surface level faith, more more than just going to church, going through demotions, uh, and then Monday through Saturday being the world, and then the only time you get in the word is on Sunday. Um it's not about perfection. This is going to be about having a heart for God, seeking God's heart, and pursuing just a better relationship with God. Throughout Scripture, God wasn't looking for men that were flawless. He wasn't looking for flawless men, he was looking for men who would walk with him, listen to him, and most of all return to him. Even after the world has turned evil. In this series, uh, we're gonna study some men of the Bible whose lives reflected God's heart. Not because they never failed, because some did. Just because they stayed faithful. Um, today we're continuing. We're gonna um today we're gonna start that journey. So wherever you are, if you are able, um get your Bible. Uh let's let's try to quiet the spirit and um let's go to the Lord in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you today, Lord. We thank you for this opportunity to hopefully share a message from you, Lord. Teach some wisdom that you may have to give to our listeners today, Lord, through me. Lord, let me be a vessel and a voice for you, Lord. We pray that our listeners find comfort this week. We pray that this touches their heart and they may go out in this world and use your word, your knowledge, your wisdom, Lord, that they may walk with you, that they may gain a relationship of favor in your heart, Lord. Lord, we pray for your grace, we pray for your mercy, and we pray that we have everlasting and understanding faith in you and your word. It's in Jesus' holy, heavenly name we pray these things. Amen and hallelujah. Well, guys, let's uh let's start. This is Man after God, chapter one, um lesson one, and everybody I'm sure thinks we're gonna start with Adam, but we're not because you see, Adam was perfect and fell away. God made Adam in the image of himself, and he defied God. So we're not gonna talk about men of defying God. We're gonna talk about men seeking God's heart. Now, there was one who did fall away, but that's a lesson that's gonna be taught later down the line. But first, first lesson, first chapter is a man called Enoch. And we're gonna call this walking with God. So before David was considered a man after God's heart, there was another man who walked so closely with God that he never experienced death. Let me tell you about a story of a man named Enoch. Who was Enoch? Well, Enoch lived in a world that was rapidly declining or descending into corruption, violence, evil, anything you could think of. And most of all, they were rebelling against God. They were worshiping pagan gods. Just look around today. Does any of that really sound familiar to you? If you said yes, you are one hundred percent correct. You see, in today's world and today's society, it's so evil, it's so dark, it's so twisted and inverted from God that we're bombarded every day with advertisements of sin in every shape, form, or fashion. Violence and sex is projected every day on the television, the internet, movies, and art. And it's all done to make a buck, right? Almighty Dalla. Sounds very familiar, doesn't it? Because it's real, it's reality, and it's going on. So let's look at Enoch. Genesis chapter 5, 21 and 24, basically says Enoch lived for sixty and five years. So basically 365 years, he walks faithful with God after the birth of his first child, Methuselah. And see, never in the Bible does Enoch experience death because God takes him. And what do I mean by that? You see, Enoch walked with God, and then he was not, for God took him. That's what it says in the Bible. Enoch didn't merely believe in God, he walked with God. You see, walking with God is sharing a profound and intimate relationship, that of a best friend, a father and son relationship type thing, or just two genuine souls that are deeply connected by God. You see, trust in someone with such confidence, such unwavering, such bold confidence is something to be, it's it's not really something to be taken lightly. It requires a certain bond that's way above on a different level than any regular relationship that you may have, like at work or whatever. I mean, think of the confidence in your faith you have to have to walk with God, the Almighty, the Creator. The kids would say that's boss level. You know what I'm saying? Boss level. So let's ask ourselves a question. Let's pause for a second. You can write this down for your Bible study and your notes, whatever. I have to drink water with my coffee to keep, you know, so I don't. It's my second cup, and I'm not. I just, you know, it's morning time, so let's go. So what does it mean to walk with God? So, like I said previously, walking with God, it implies relationship, it implies direction, and it also implies an agreement. Amos 3.3, do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so. That is the book of Amos, if you have your Bible. That's chapter 3, verse 3. Shall two walk together except they have agreed. So walking with God is about making sure your life is in tune with God. Do you see what that means? So to get a radio frequency back in the 80s and nine or 90s, well, back in the 70s or 80s, to get a good radio frequency, you had to use the tuning knob. The tuning knob, and you would tune it in to get the best frequency, to get the best sound, to get the best clarity, to get the best relationship between your ears and the speakers. So here, let's look at this. Walking with God is about making sure your life is in tune with his ways all the time. So that frequency, that radio station needs to be on point all the time. Not just when it's sunny outside and there's no clouds, right? Right? You might have to hold the antenna a little bit to get it tuned in. Um the kids are like, what is he talking about? But it's not, you can't just do that when it's easy or when you're in trouble. It's about being in tune with him every single moment, not just when you're feeling down, when you're in a crisis, you know, when there's an emergency. No. You gotta praise him during the bad and the good. Is it easy? Nobody said it was. It's a learned behavior. It requires obedience. Think about something. You ever bought a puppy that grew into the best dog you ever had? I had one, English Bulldog, lived to be twelve years old. His name was Herschel. Now, Herschel was turned into the best dog. But Herschel was a demon when he was a child or a puppy. You follow what I'm saying? That puppy that grew into the best dog wasn't always the best, if I had to guess, because mine wasn't. It needed some kind of direction. It needed some kind of agreement between you and it as owner and dog to be teachable as both master and follower. So you see, as Enoch's relationship grew, he became God's best friend. Enoch had much favor in God's eyes at that time. If you look at the book of Micah, if you turn your Bibles to the book of Micah, chapter 6, verse 8. Give you a second to do that while I hit this nicotine vape. I quit smoking. Hey, I was smoking a pack of Marlboro reds a day, and it's the tobacco and all that crap that kills you, so you know, I'll quit this eventually. But for now, this is where God's got me. Well, guys, in Micah chapter six, verse eight, it says, He showed me, man, what is good and what Jehovah requires of thee. But do justly and to love kindness and to walk humbly with God. To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God is basically what that means. So we look at this and we look at Enoch's life. And how did he get here? So the Bible says the turning point in Enoch's life. You notice the timing from the scripture here, right here in Genesis chapter 5. Turn your Bibles back to Genesis chapter 5, look at verse 22. So it says, and Enoch walked with God, and after he begot Methusalem 300 years. So it says here in the Scripture that his firstborn Methuselah was born after 300 years. And remember, God took him after 365. Okay. So Genesis 5.22 said, and Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah in 300 years. Keep that in mind. For Enoch, you see, taking responsibility brought a sense of reverence. A deeper reverence means like a deeper awareness of the holy or even sense of fear of God. You see, it seems that fatherhood changed his path. He had an awakening after his child was born, leading him to a deeper relationship, a deeper obedience to God the Father. You see, Scripture tells us now why God took Enoch and God took him, so he just took him. He never experienced death. So if you turn your Bibles to Hebrews, verse 11, chapter 5, it says, By faith Enoch was taken, that he should not see death, and he was not found because God took him. And before his translation, he hath witness borne to him that he had been well pleasing unto God. Translation means transfer. So God transferred him to a different place. We'll get into that in a second. Next verse, Hebrews 11, 6, and without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing unto him. For that cometh to God must believe it that he is, and he is a rewarder of them that seek after him. You see, Enoch is commended for faith and pleasing God. And see, the scripture teaches that faith is essential to approaching God because it trusts, it creates trust that both his existence and his reward is for those who seek him. We trust him that he will keep his word. And God the Father will always keep his word. So you see, the lessons to be learned here is God wasn't pleased with his perfection because he wasn't perfect. He's a human. But God was pleased with his faith. Like consider this in today's context, okay? Let's talk about it. You see, God doesn't care about the size or how big or how luxurious the church is. He doesn't care about the quality of the praise and worship bands production. He doesn't care about how well the preacher dresses, or even how well you dress. He doesn't care about the size of your house, the condition of your car, or the number of friends you think you have. You see, what truly matters to God is what's in your heart. What truly matters to God is your obedience. And you see, above all, what truly matters to God is your faith. You see, Enoch was a man of faith. Bold, bold faith. Enoch spoke for God. In a time of corruption, in a corrupt generation, Enoch did not remain silent. He was not afraid to speak his heart and his mind. He understood that fear was nothing more than false evidence appearing real even back in those days, in the days of Genesis. You see, think about something. You know, I don't get stoned for preaching the gospel on here. I don't get stoned for praying somebody with somebody in the grocery store. I don't get stoned if I want to walk out and confess my faith. That's the beauty of where I live. That's the beauty of my country. Now, certain areas of the country you might get shot, or you know, I mean, there's protests going on in Minnesota, that sort of thing. But the the lesson here is back in those days, the pagans and the worshipers of Baal and the cultists, and it was all, I mean, the whole earth was evil. Think about something. The whole generation was corrupt. You see, most men were terrified for their lives to even speak about God. You see, Enoch stood faint firm. He stood firm in his faith. He proclaimed God's message with unwavering boldness and courage. Enoch had favor in God's eye, even when God poured his wrath out on the wicked. You see, if you turn your Bibles to Jude chapter one, verses fourteen and fifteen, it says, And these also Enoch the seventh from Adam prophesied, saying, Behold the Lord came with ten thousand of his holy ones to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of their works of ungodliness, which they have ungodly wrought, and all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. Basically saying, Enoch prophesies that the Lord will come with his holy ones to judge the ungodly, to expose their sinful actions and their sinful words against God, their blaspheme. Enoch prophesied that. Told him. You see, walking with God fosters a special connection. It creates a divine intimacy. You see, this intimacy with God can give you the courage to stand up for what's right in front of others, even in today's world. People see that. People learn from that. People want to be that. Because that is a boldness that only a man of God can have. You see, Enoch's journey didn't end in demise like the ungodly. But it ended in a transformative act of divine intervention. You see, God ascended Enoch, raised him from the earthly realm, and put him in the celestial existence. That means put him up in the clouds, in the heavens, for those that don't know what celestial means. If you look at Genesis chapter 5, verse 24, it said, Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. You see, when heaven comes close or becomes familiar, when you get so in tune with God, death loses its power. I can think of some gospels. You see, when putting God first becomes a priority, when praying becomes a priority, when scripture and the word of God become a priority, your life will change for the positive, your life will change for the better. If you do not believe me, test what I'm saying for yourself. And I promise you will be a better man of God for it. So let's look at what Enoch actually shows us. If you turn your Bibles to Galatians chapter 5, verse 16. Give you a second to do that. Guys, I want to thank you so much for tuning in for this Bible study. God laid it on my heart last night. I put an outline. It's going to be good. I spent a lot of time on it. And then I spent time on chapter one. Prayed about it. Stayed up till about 10:30 doing it. Woke up at 5:30 this morning, ready to rock and roll. So if you've got your Bibles to Galatians chapter 5, verse 16, it says, But I say walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. What does that mean? It means walk with the Spirit of God. Walk with God. And do not fulfill any spirits of this world, of the flesh. That's a hard thing to do. You have to be in tune. You have to pray. You have to be obedient to all those things, because those things are godly things. So flip to James, New Testament, James, chapter 4, verse 8. Give you a second to do that. So we look at that, it says, draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. What does that mean? That means a man after God has to draw close to God. The closer you draw to God, the closer God draws to you. You see, there are certain qualities that a man after God has to have. To walk with God daily, you have to live counterculturally. What I mean by that is you can't reform to the patterns of this world. The Bible tells you. You cannot do what the pagans do. You cannot worship false idols. And you say, B Rob, I don't do that. Well, how many times a week do you have to be on time somewhere? How many times a week do you have to be in front of your TV to watch something at a certain time? Are you giving that to God sevenfold? Seven times better? Seven times over? Are you? That's a question. You see, a man after God values intimacy with God over recognition of self. So that self that wants to watch something at seven o'clock every night, but does not read his Bible every day, does not pray every day, but every day he's devoted to something at seven o'clock or six o'clock or five o'clock. You see where I'm going with this? A man of God values intimacy with God over self-recognition. He values that time with God more than anything. You see, Enoch walked with God. And God walked Enoch home. I want you to jot down these discussion questions. Little homework for you. Okay. Question number one. What does walking with God look like in your daily life? What does walking with God look like in your daily life? That was question number one. Give you a minute for that. All right, let's move on. Number two. Are there any areas where an agreement with God is lacking? Are there any areas where an agreement with God is lacking? That's question number two. Give you a second for that. Sip on some Java. All right. So question number three. How has responsibility deepened your faith? How has responsibility deepened your faith? Don't try to answer these now. Pray about 'em, think about them. This is your Bible study. This is you being a man of God. This is accountability. All right, last question. Number four. Would your life be described as well pleasing to God? Would your life be described as well pleasing to God? That was question number four, and we'll run through them real quick. Question number one was what does walking with God look like in your daily life? Question number two, are there areas where agreement with God is lacking? Question number three, how has responsibility deepened your faith? Question number four, would your life be described as well pleasing unto God or to God? Guys, that was uh chapter one, Bible study one of the Man of God Bible study series, and I thank you for tuning in. My name is B Robb. God loves you. I want to say God bless you. I'll be praying for you. Chapter two will be out soon. And guys, it's been fun, it's been great. Thank you for tuning in. Make sure you visit the website www.forchristministry.com.
