Mourning sounds like the opposite of blessing, yet we find that honest grief can become God’s doorway to comfort. We talk through Matthew 5:4 and why naming what’s broken is often the first step toward healing.
• Matthew 5:4 and why it sounds upside down
• our habits of avoiding pain through distraction
• mourning as a warning light that something needs attention
• bringing pain to God instead of hiding it or projecting it
• grieving more than death, including sin and the brokenness of the world
• the cracked phone screen picture of spiritual fracture
• Psalm 34:18 and God’s closeness to the brokenhearted
Guys, if this touched you today, please share it.
And if you don't have a relationship with Jesus, you better get right.

A Toast To The Misfits

SPEAKER_00

It is to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the ones who see the world differently, who don't fit neatly into boxes, and refuse to live by someone else's script. You can quote them, you can disagree with them, you can glorify them or vilify them, you can shake your head at their ideas or be inspired by their courage. But the one thing you cannot do is ignore them. Because they change things. They disrupt what's comfortable, they challenge what's normal, and they push the human race forward. Sometimes with loud revolutions, sometimes with fight persistence that changes everything over time. They see possibility where others see limits. They dare to dream out loud when the world tells them to be silent. They take risks, they stumble, they rise again, and they keep going. Not because it's easy, but because they can't imagine doing anything else. These are the ones who remind us that every great leap forward was once considered impossible. So here's to them: the ones who won't sit down, won't be quiet, and won't stop until the world is different. Because they're the reason it will be.

A Warning About False Escapes

They said it was natural. They said it would give me energy. They didn't mention the withdrawals. 7-0 can steal your focus, your peace, your identity, your soul, and even your life. Don't trade your future for a temporary escape. Freedom starts with truth.

Matthew 5:4 And A New Day

SPEAKER_03

Hey guys, it's B-Rob and it is the Food for Thought Faith Cast. And I just want to welcome you to the show today. It's going to be another beautiful day. In Jesus' name. Another beautiful day walking in the Spirit. Another beautiful day in the kingdom. Another beautiful day. Today we're going to look at Matthew 5, 4. Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. Speaking of a lovely day.

Why We Avoid Pain

SPEAKER_03

That verse sounds not so lovely, doesn't it? I mean, if Jesus said, Blessed are the happy, we'd probably understand it, right? If he said, Blessed are the successful, that would fit into modern society, right? But no. He says, Blessed are those who mourn. How can mourning be a blessing? I'm I don't know. But in our world, we spend a lot of energy avoiding pain. Avoiding discomfort. Avoiding loneliness. What do we do when we get lonely? We get on our phones and we scroll. Or if you're a TV person, you binge watch. Or, you know, you just try to distract yourself when life gets heavy. It's typical, everybody does it. I try to read. Yet Jesus teaches that there is something powerful about allowing ourselves to feel grief and doing it honestly before God. That's what we're talking about today. Imagine

Mourning As A Soul Warning Light

SPEAKER_03

driving your car, and the little information light comes on in a dash. Right? You can deal with it, or you can put a piece of tape over it and pretend it's not there. Or you can do like me and just ignore it. Guilty. My wife hates that. My wife hates that. Because in the past, you know, I've let things go. Or we both have let things go and um ended up costing us more than it did if we'd have fixed it then. But we're both growing and we're both learning. And I I totally admit that. You see, many people choose the emotional version of the two, though. Like when something breaks, something hurts, a relationship, a dream dies, a loved one passes away, sin, you keep sinning. You see, those are distractions. Instead of facing it, we get distracted. But ignoring pain doesn't heal it. And we're not talking about physical matter. We're talking about things that happen. Circumstances. You see, the check engine light or the information light, it's not the problem. It's just the warning. That's all. It's just saying, hey, something needs attention. And it might be just the dash or the faulty light. Because you may check something. And it may be fine. But it you know. But that's just telling us it's a warning light. You see, morning is often the same thing as the warning light or the check engine light or the information light in the car. It's kind of like God's check engine light for the soul. The pain is nudging, telling you something's wrong. And then when we bring that pain to God instead of hiding it, healing can begin. When we take it to God instead of taking it to another person and blaming that other person, healing can begin. Notice I said, when we take that pain to God, instead of hiding it or projecting it, healing can begin.

What Kind Of Mourning Jesus Means

SPEAKER_03

So what kind of mourning are we talking about here? What kind of mourning is Jesus talking about? Because a lot of scholars believe Jesus was talking about grieving and more than just grieving and death. It's a little bit deeper. It's like grieving your own personal sin, grieving the brokenness of the world, grieving the injustice of this world, grieving the distance between what we have put ourselves in and what should actually be. Not hopeless sadness. It's just his heart recognizes something is wrong. And his heart longs for God to make it right, not him, not somebody else, not blame, not a mere, you know what I'm saying? He recognizes that he needs God to make it right. I mean, think about another thing. I got a crack in my phone screen. Not the phone screen, but the screen cover, okay? But Jill, just imagine you got a crack in your phone, right? It still works. You can still use it. You can still text, you can still make calls, you can still surf the internet. Nothing, it doesn't hurt you in any way. But every time you look at it, it reminds you that things are not the way they were when you first got it. And that's how many people live spiritually nowadays. They function, they work, they smile, they're going, you know, they're doing the job. But deep down inside, they know something's broken. Yeshua says, Blessed are those who recognize the cracks, is basically what he's saying. That's the modern-day B-Rab version. Okay. Still means the same thing. Because people who acknowledge brokenness are more likely to seek the one who can repair it. So if your phone has a crack, where do you take it? Where do you go? The phone repair shop, right? So if your soul has a crack, where should you go? The soul repair shop, which is the Almighty Creator. Adonai, God, King of Kings, King of hosts. The danger's not being broken. The danger is pretending you're not broken. That's the world's response versus God's response.

God Draws Near To The Broken

SPEAKER_03

The world often says, move on, get over it, don't think about it, stay busy. Yeah. Yeah. Very much so. I'm bad about it. I'm bad about it with physical things, but I'm a firm believer that a physical thing cannot affect your spiritual body, your spiritual mind. Only if you allow that. What I mean by physical means I do not what I like what I said earlier. I don't choose to spell about it, I don't choose to talk negative about it, I choose to take it to God. And that's a fact. Because God says in 30, Psalm 34, 18, it says, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Because God says, Come to me. Notice one thing God doesn't say. Be perfect. He says he is close to the brokenhearted. See, a lot of times we think our pain pushes God away. But scripture teaches us the 100% opposite. Guys, that is all the time I've got today. I would love to keep going about this.

Prayer For Comfort And Healing

SPEAKER_03

Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Father, thank you for being near to the brokenhearted. Help us stop hiding our pain today and just bring it towards you. Put it at the foot of the cross. Lord, teach us to mourn what we're grieving in our heart. Teach us that it's okay to be broke. Lord, let your spirit comfort us. Lord, those who are hurting today, give them hope. Give them hope that you are restoring all things and that you are keeping your promises, Lord. May we find peace in your presence and trust you with everything we do. It's in Jesus' holy, heavenly name we pray. Amen and hallelujah. Guys,
