Vetted In Vet Med (00:00:06)
Okay, recording. ⁓ Okay. Yeah, Darrell was like, y'all getting back at it.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:00:13)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:00:17)
Yes, we are. the thing, that's the thing, like, you know, before when you, ⁓ I think back to when you pulled my cards ⁓ and it was saying about me going into a period ⁓ of like isolation and working on myself, but ⁓ I really was not.
intending for that, like I was not intentionally ⁓ doing that, like trying to isolate myself. I know I was definitely trying to figure things out. ⁓ And then I know initially I had, ⁓ was working ⁓ a lot over the summer ⁓ because I was covering at a clinic that had a
Vetted in Vet Med (00:00:57)
Thanks.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:01:14)
their vet was on maternity leave. So I was essentially working full time for them because I was there three to four days a week and then I was also ⁓ still doing the lab animal part time. ⁓ So ⁓ that definitely was the beginning of like the downfall of like, ⁓ disassociating myself because I was tired and then ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:01:35)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:01:42)
When school started, I feel like I was so focused on like staying on top of everything, especially with Darren, because it's me trying to stay on top of like all his assignments and just trying to like get that. Because now I'm like, OK, we have a clean slate for this year. And so.
trying to stay on top of like his grades and everything, all his assignments, which that's still, it's still a daily battle ⁓ of reviewing all his missing assignments, making up the missing assignments, then doing the homework. So that's ongoing, but yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:02:14)
in.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:02:25)
Was he out? Cuz I, you know, we got some peace girl.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:02:28)
So ⁓ he has ADHD ⁓ and ⁓ he also has some learning or developmental delays. ⁓ He never got formally diagnosed with autism, ⁓ but because of how premature he was born, ⁓ he does have some developmental delays. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:02:34)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:02:48)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:02:57)
⁓ Like even in school, he has like his IEP ⁓ that he's a part of and ⁓ they give him accommodations. But some of the accommodations include like a resource teacher coming in to help him with certain ⁓ assignments in like reading and math. ⁓ But they ⁓ started pulling him out. So they pulled him out throughout the week, but
Sometimes that means that he may have missed like, you know, one of the lessons in the class. ⁓ And then it takes him longer to complete assignments too. And so they may have started on something and then he didn't finish it. And so ⁓ it's literally a daily thing. Like before we can even start on homework, we gotta go ⁓ finish the missing stuff. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:03:34)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Thank
Vetted In Vet Med (00:03:56)
They'll try to let him finish stuff in class, but ⁓ they're constantly ⁓ on the go. So a lot of it falls ⁓ on us at home to finish those assignments and then do the stuff that they want them to do for homework. ⁓ Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:04:01)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:04:15)
Yeah, yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot. I mean, homework itself is in the grand scheme of just ⁓ moving ⁓ after school, like all the after school stuff going on and then just trying to get ⁓ between dinner and making sure everybody is still on task to go to bed on time and all the time for renovation. That's a lot. That's a lot.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:04:37)
Mm-hmm. Go to bed on time.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:04:45)
Yeah. So, and then he does go to tutorials as well. ⁓ And then he also has speech therapy to help like with the language and like comprehension. ⁓ So ⁓ all of that is, you know, usually in the evenings. ⁓ So then even after that, I'm still like, okay, we got to do something.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:05:00)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:05:14)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:05:15)
⁓ You still gotta, you know, you still have to do some one of these assignments ⁓ so we don't fall too far behind. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:05:20)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:05:25)
Yeah, ⁓ that feels like a lot for him. I'm sure he gets frustrated and all that kind of stuff. that's a whole nother battle in itself.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:05:33)
It's a whole nother battle, because when he gets tired and he don't want to do it, then you just dragging him through the assignment. ⁓ And ⁓ then it come down to like that example when they be like, Johnny had. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:05:40)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:05:52)
⁓ my God. ⁓ I swear, like, the other week I was like...
Vetted in Vet Med (00:06:03)
Are you like, are you hearing me? Like, this is this. No, and it's like two. And I'm like, no, no, no, no. I'm just like, maybe I'm not the best person for this, but.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:06:05)
Yes. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:06:10)
You
Vetted In Vet Med (00:06:18)
⁓ lord. ⁓ So yeah. ⁓ And I'm like thankful that ⁓ like, cause I'll try to have them doing their homework at the same time. So at least with Davis, for the most part, ⁓ he can, he's more self-sufficient so he can get through his assignments independently. ⁓ And every now and then he'll have a question
Vetted in Vet Med (00:06:22)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:06:48)
but with Darren, essentially, we have to be sitting there doing it with him. ⁓ And ⁓ I try to leave him to do things on his own, and sometimes that works out, and other times it doesn't. Because you come back and be like, ⁓ what have you been doing? What have you been doing?
Vetted in Vet Med (00:06:57)
Ew.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:07:11)
Like, you been sitting here, but...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:07:18)
And if you needed help, you didn't say anything. So, yeah. But yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:07:24)
I mean.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:07:28)
Bless it.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:07:32)
⁓ that's a lot Daveeta
Vetted In Vet Med (00:07:34)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. And then you got Demi. Yeah. Yeah. And then, know, Demi, then it's like to try to spend time with her because it's like she is still, you know, she's still a baby. So trying to get through what I can get through with Darren to have time to play with her.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:07:36)
But you you got this.
Yeah, I'll get this.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:07:51)
I'm not.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:08:01)
But she doesn't understand any of that and she don't care, so.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:08:05)
don't care. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:08:07)
⁓ Right. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:08:09)
⁓ What about, me? what
Vetted In Vet Med (00:08:14)
So that's why we try to get her like as late as possible. Not to the point where she's the last child there, but maybe around like 5.30, 6 o'clock. That's when we try to go get her because when she get there, then that's when all the drama starts. You can hear her coming in from outside. And then it makes it harder to get things done.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:08:23)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:08:42)
We'll be right back.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:08:42)
get through as much as possible before she get there ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:08:47)
She's a turn up queen huh?
⁓ All the chaos starts. Like, no, we finna party right now. All that work, put that up, put that up. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:08:55)
Not the board.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:09:01)
⁓ Lord. ⁓ so yeah, so that was the beginning of everything was working ⁓ over the summer. Just, you know. ⁓
from what I had going on with my little part-time positions. ⁓ And it didn't feel so part-time anymore. I'm like, I'm working full-time for these people. ⁓ But it was good. I ⁓ got a lot of good experience being there more consistently. ⁓ And ⁓ I got back in the abdomen. ⁓ I got back in the abdomen. did... ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:09:29)
in the now.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:09:38)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:09:45)
I was able to do a splenectomy, ⁓ hadn't done since vet school. ⁓ I had a patient that had a ⁓ peritoneal hernia, which the owner don't, he ⁓ was like, I don't know what happened. She was out on the farm. I'm like, she probably got kicked, kicked by one of them animals out there.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:09:48)
Okay.
Alright, yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:10:06)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:10:11)
Back it up.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:10:13)
And so ⁓ then I helped to repair that. So thankfully my, ⁓ cause that's the clinic that my mentor, Dr. Beckham works ⁓ at. ⁓ he pushed me and he helped me ⁓ to get back ⁓ to doing the intra abdominal surgeries. ⁓ So I was thankful for that. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:10:23)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:10:42)
⁓ I got to spend a lot of time with him over the summer. ⁓ I had ⁓ been working there for relief for the past couple years, but not that consistently. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:10:42)
Thank
Vetted in Vet Med (00:10:46)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:10:57)
Yeah. Hmm. That's fun. Getting your gloves wet again. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:11:03)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
I ⁓ can't
Vetted In Vet Med (00:11:22)
outside so you know during that time ⁓
still on the, ⁓ you know, I feel like I still was on my journey of trying to figure out what I, you know, wanted to do. ⁓ And it wasn't until ⁓ towards the end of the year, the beginning of the year that I started feeling like, ⁓ I had some, it was just a change of heart really and a change of like perspective. ⁓ So then,
Vetted in Vet Med (00:11:37)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:11:57)
I was ⁓ talking to my supervisor about ⁓ going back to LabAnimal full time. ⁓ And ⁓ I started just thinking about, ⁓ don't, I mean, I definitely have been very prayerful throughout this whole time. And I'm talking about a time of like five to six years. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:12:21)
here.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:12:23)
And if finally something happened at the beginning of this year, I don't know what happened, but something happened. I don't know if you were going say it was the Saturn, because I think Saturn was moving out the way
Vetted in Vet Med (00:12:33)
⁓ The cosmos switched up. ⁓
⁓ And you know things are happening right now too like you know we're in Aries ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:12:46)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Yeah, something happened ⁓ and ⁓ I just released all of the like...
⁓ I guess like pressure or responsibility that I had on the job itself. Like ⁓ I felt like I was putting too much ⁓ on the position as far as the fulfillment that I felt like it was supposed to provide me. Like, ⁓ I'm like.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:13:20)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:13:22)
I know that with this job, am going to get some moments of fulfillment, but in my mind, it just felt like more ⁓ retrospectively, like ⁓ imaginative. I just felt like I needed to be going, like I wanted to be going to work every day, just very excited about ⁓ going to work. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:13:50)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:13:51)
excited about what I was doing every single day and just feeling like that joy and the fulfillment. And then I just realized ⁓ like, this is not going to give me that. ⁓ And that's not even real life. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:13:55)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:14:09)
It's not, ⁓ it's like, as long as, I mean, even, ⁓ you know, how people say like, working for yourself, you're, or no, working for yourself, you'll find a lot more joy in your job or whatever. ⁓ Cause working for other people are always gonna be, it's always gonna be something. And I'm like, ⁓ I don't even know if that's right. Because, I mean, anybody that knows me,
Vetted In Vet Med (00:14:22)
See you.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:14:28)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:14:33)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:14:38)
knows that like I don't even think I'm supposed to be working right now. Like I don't even think I'm supposed be working period. Like I don't think I don't think ⁓ I'm supposed to have a job you know what I'm ⁓ I would love to be able to provide services to a very ⁓ selective clientele. Honestly for much of nothing just because I enjoy doing it but ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:14:43)
⁓ You
Vetted In Vet Med (00:14:50)
Jesus. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:15:06)
To be told to be obligated to a space and to have to abide by these plans that anybody else has for you. I just, I don't see fulfillment in that at all. And not that I can't tell, I mean, I can't do what other people tell me to do or I can't do my job, but I'm not gonna be like, yeah, I really enjoy.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:15:22)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:15:35)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:15:35)
telling me how to practice in some way, shape, or form, or I really enjoyed ⁓ somebody telling me, ⁓ you know, don't do that because that's not how we do things around here. I can't get with that.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:15:49)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:15:51)
⁓ I hear you. I hear you, ⁓ but for all the ⁓ entrepreneurial pushers, because we got our own thing, right? So we know what entrepreneurship looks like in comparison to corporate life or just ⁓ whatever you want to call it. ⁓ It's just not.
It's not ideal. Like you say, it's not life. It's not real life.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:16:25)
Yeah, it's not gonna, yeah, that's not what it's gonna be. ⁓ But I ⁓ felt like I was opening up and that I had opened up to the idea of going back full time, ⁓ given ⁓ different responsibilities. ⁓ And then also I felt like
Vetted in Vet Med (00:16:49)
and
Vetted In Vet Med (00:16:54)
I just needed to find fulfillment in other areas in my life, ⁓ outside of work. ⁓ And ⁓ some of which ⁓ would be ⁓ not necessarily monetary, others that would be monetary. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:17:02)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:17:16)
That's nice. ⁓ I ⁓ mean, it's nice, but you know.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:17:22)
Yeah, so that pretty much is where I am now. I did, there was an opportunity for me to go back full-time. An opportunity became available, which it had previously, a couple years ago, it was presented to me to return full-time, but I was not ready. And then I also was already.
committed to a clinic at that time. ⁓ So ⁓ I turned it down ⁓ and I wasn't sure ⁓ if it would come back again. ⁓ But ⁓ the ⁓ previous position that I was over that he took all my responsibilities when I left. ⁓ And so he's actually retiring. So then that...
Vetted in Vet Med (00:18:18)
Did you push him to retirement? He said, all right, all right, we're done. Let's wrap it up. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:18:24)
⁓ Apparently ⁓ he was retiring since he started. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:18:30)
Yeah
That's the mindset there. That's the mindset. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:18:37)
like five or six years ago.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:18:39)
Listen, I think I um, I had dropped my little person off my aunt and I said something about working and I was like, she's like, what do you want to do? Like what? Um, you not have the age. I said, that's the brainwash. That's the brainwashing that we had because who told us we had to work all the time? Yeah, was named Henry Ford. He's the one who created the seven day work with a five day work with whatever too much too much.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:18:52)
Yes.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:18:56)
All right.
Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:19:07)
too much.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:19:09)
We have no time to ourselves to find that fulfillment. Like to really work on ourselves and be really good people out in this world. When you stressed out and tired, I mean, yeah, ⁓ you might want to rob a convenience store. I'm not saying it's okay by far, but folks are tired. And we all know it's only gonna get worse.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:19:12)
Hmm ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:19:27)
⁓ Right.
Right, it's definitely gonna get worse before, right, before it gets better. So yeah, so I think because he knew that, well, this was the first time that he was serious about it. And with an actual retirement date, and I think having me already there and interested in returning full-time, that probably was,
Vetted in Vet Med (00:19:37)
me.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:19:47)
Yeah, yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:19:52)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:20:02)
the push ⁓ to be serious and commit to ⁓ it. ⁓ And so, ⁓ so yes, as of two weeks ago. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:20:03)
Yes. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:20:16)
I went back full time, but ⁓ I did negotiate having it ⁓ as hybrid so I could still work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. ⁓ And so that, you know, still allows me some flexibility as well. ⁓ And I returned too because with the... ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:20:28)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:20:44)
⁓ For a while, ⁓ I had been ⁓ not really feeling like I had much of ⁓ a purpose there. ⁓ And part of that was ⁓ because I didn't really have a lot to do. ⁓ And so ⁓ even within this time, ⁓ I feel better ⁓ having ⁓ the facility responsibility that I have again, because that had been taken from me. ⁓ And so... ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:20:50)
You know.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:20:56)
Thank
Vetted in Vet Med (00:21:10)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:21:13)
You know, now I have four facilities. ⁓
⁓ And then ⁓ also, ⁓ know, before, ⁓ one of the reasons that I even took on that job was because I was interested in like the health surveillance and like the import and exporting of the animals. And so I'll get, I'll be able to get that back too. ⁓ So that ⁓ I'm excited about.
But I think that me removing my, you know, ⁓ identity from my job, I think that's ⁓ what has helped me with feeling at peace with returning. ⁓ Because that was part of the issue. ⁓ And I'm like, I get there, I do my work and I leave.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:21:56)
Amen, Sister.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:22:04)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:22:09)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:22:16)
And.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:22:17)
to God, that's the key. That is the key. I never realized it. I never realized it. I, you know, I still hadn't gone back to like, ⁓ is it? Like the general practice types of direction. I'm still at the Spay and Neuter Clinic and I guess since then I've become the clinic vet Like I don't remember what was the last conversation. I mean, yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:22:23)
And...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:22:34)
Hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:22:44)
It was in the talks. ⁓ it was.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:22:46)
in the talks Okay, so I'm the clinic vet at the Spay and Neuter Clinic. And, you know, it's definitely a lot less responsibility than what I was initially dealing with, but also more autonomy. That makes sense. Because I had zero at the place. But I swear...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:23:06)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:23:12)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:23:15)
The moment where I was just like, yo, I am doing my job. Ask the questions while I'm here. And then we gotta move along. We gotta move on. Once I'm leaving, I mean, of course they send me, we do this thing where they'll send like recheck photos and see if somebody needs to come in the next day or something like that. I mean, that's still like getting paid for a situation. But even if I'm off or.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:23:21)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:23:27)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:23:45)
She was like, I send you a recheck photo? I mean, I could not answer. It's just a text message. So it's no like real pushy type situation. But honestly, I try not to get involved with the mess A lot of stuff has happened there. And I'm like, oh, okay. That's all I got for you. I don't wanna be involved whatsoever.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:24:00)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:24:04)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:24:11)
you
Vetted in Vet Med (00:24:14)
And you know, ⁓ that's the catch-22, right? Because you have this quote-unquote leadership position and then, you know, somebody brings this kind of thing to you. ⁓ I think, but I think y'all got it. I don't, if you don't ask my opinion, then I don't know, like, I shouldn't offer one because then I feel like you get too involved in something and then it gets messy. ⁓ the girls are messy, honey. They are. So we just gonna, you know, let them be messy without me involved, you know?
Vetted In Vet Med (00:24:33)
you ⁓
Yes. Yes.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:24:44)
I don't, I like to hear, I think I said this before, but I like to hear the drama, but I'm not, don't want to be a part of it. Let me, let me go home and Kiki and tell my family what happened, but I don't want to talk to y'all about it at all. Y'all want an opinion from me? I think I actually was asked something like that this summer. It was like somebody was talking about something.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:24:50)
Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:25:00)
Right. Yes, I'm the same way.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:25:13)
What do you think about that Dr. Wilson? I was like, hold on one second. Gone. I went on and did something else. You're not gonna get an opinion out of me. No, no, no, I don't have an opinion. I don't have a dog in the fight. ⁓ So we're just gonna, we're gonna leave it here. I'm not gonna be worried about none of this stuff. ⁓ But ⁓ it does bring a whole lot. It's a different set of peace ⁓ Like it's a...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:25:27)
You
Vetted In Vet Med (00:25:37)
Yes. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:25:40)
once you remove yourself out of that situation to that capacity like it's just like ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:25:46)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. ⁓ So, ⁓ yeah. So, like I said, it's only been two weeks. The other vet he's still there. So, I've had like a ⁓ genuine transition period, ⁓ which, ⁓ you know, the first time I had ⁓ started there, I did not get that ⁓ because ⁓ when I started, ⁓ the person I was replacing
Vetted in Vet Med (00:25:47)
we'll be happy doing your job.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:26:03)
Nice.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:26:16)
I was only with her for like three days, ⁓ if that, and then I was just left with ⁓ all this responsibility. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:26:19)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:26:28)
⁓ So yeah, ⁓ but now, you know, we've been transitioning over like the past month and a half ⁓ before I even ⁓ like took on the role. But ⁓ because it was in talks then we just started preparing. ⁓ And my boss, she was like, you know, asking when I would want to start. And I said, well, if I can start in April, that would be ideal because
I didn't have any relief shifts set up for April at all. ⁓ And so ⁓ I'm like, if we can start in April. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:27:03)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:27:10)
need some coins. Coins. Co-
Vetted In Vet Med (00:27:13)
That would be ideal because I had my March set up, but I literally had nothing for April. So she, you know, it wasn't promised, but she was like, she'll see what she can do. then it be, you know, the opportunity, it all just laid out because I'm like, I don't like to do stuff if it, you know, if there's any friction and it ⁓ just all just laid out and.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:27:37)
.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:27:41)
I did have to interview ⁓ for the position, which was, you know, I know it was out of formality, but it was so awkward so weird. ⁓ And hardly any of the vets were even there that day. So it was literally just me and my boss and one other vet. And I've known him since the very beginning. So I've known him for over 10 years. like sitting in with... ⁓
with them. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:28:11)
like, yeah. So. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:28:42)
but yeah, I had to interview with them. So that was weird. But ⁓ you know, I was actually nervous. I think it was just because it was an interview. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:29:10)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:29:11)
like that just makes me nervous ⁓ and I'm like what if she changes her mind?
Vetted in Vet Med (00:29:17)
Be like, oh, I didn't know she was gone answer like that. Like, I don't know if she's a good person for this position anymore. Wait a minute. You should never did this.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:29:19)
lol
Vetted In Vet Med (00:29:31)
⁓ But it all worked out and then I was my start day was April ⁓ 1st, the first day of April. And so I'm thankful to God for that because I'm like I wanted April and then it was the first day of April. ⁓ And. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:29:50)
to go through all the little situations where you like, oh, you got to do direct deposit and stuff. Do you have to all that still? Like, now it's up.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:29:57)
because that was already set up. ⁓ Normally when you start, they put you through orientation and stuff. And that was not even, the HR lady just called and was like, this is what we ⁓ offering you, yay or nay. ⁓ And this will be in effect April 1st. Are you OK with that? I said, yes, I'm fine with that.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:30:08)
and
Vetted in Vet Med (00:30:22)
to water later.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:30:27)
Thank you. ⁓ And yeah, so it's been nice because that job, it offers a lot of autonomy ⁓ and then it gets you outside too. That's the other thing that because we have animals in all these different buildings in the medical center ⁓ and then my facilities, they're not all at the main campus. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:30:28)
⁓ Thank ⁓ you.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:30:49)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:30:56)
it make you get outside and you got to walk. So one of my facilities, I'm like, you can drive there, ⁓ but I'm considering getting one of them little scooters.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:30:58)
huh.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:31:12)
You
Vetted In Vet Med (00:31:13)
Because that's how far it is. It's like a 20 minute walk. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:31:18)
okay. Yeah. I don't need cardio every day. Not like that. Especially when it's not getting hot. Texas hot. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:31:28)
Exactly, yeah, it's about to get hot I'm like, I'm not about to be walking to that facility. So it's nice. And I mean, it came down to the people too, like that I currently work with. And I'm like, I've been watching, you know, kind of like in the backgrounds for the past five years, being there part-time and seeing how it is. So I'm like, you know what?
I done been here long enough. I like working with these people. ⁓ And then honestly, Ayanna, I also was tired ⁓ with relief ⁓ and sometimes the market would be up and I would have all these shifts scheduled and then there would be times where
⁓ There wasn't a lot available. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:32:26)
guess what? You get to change your mind. ⁓ You set up your life that way. ⁓ You get to change your mind. You get to say, hey, you know what? I actually don't want to do this anymore. ⁓ And then, I mean, of course, that's a blessing in itself that, you know, things align to the point where you can change your mind. Because, you know, ⁓ everybody is not able, everybody's not able to say, hey, I don't want to do this anymore. I want to do this. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:32:30)
⁓ Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:32:37)
Mmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:32:43)
Yes.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:32:52)
Wee. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:32:54)
I mean, you work your dog on hard to say, ⁓ hey, I no longer want to do relief. ⁓ It's stressing me out. It is unpredictable.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:33:03)
it's unpredictable, especially in like, my as one of my main sources of income, you know, because initially it was it was supplemental. ⁓ And then, ⁓ you know, but for these past few couple years, it was ⁓ it was part of my income. ⁓ And so then that meant I had to ⁓ work in the clinics more.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:33:16)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:33:32)
⁓ And ⁓ some of the clinics are great, ⁓ but some of the clinics not so much. ⁓ Like, I'm never coming back here. You're never gonna see me again. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:33:41)
and
know what I see if I see in the grocery store I'm walking the other way. That's how ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:33:55)
I some experiences and I still, ⁓ know, there is a clinic though that the same one ⁓ with Dr. Beckham that I'm like, it's hard for me to tell them no. So I do actually have a couple. ⁓
I ended up getting one Saturday this month and one Saturday in May because some part of it is almost addicting and I'm not gonna lie. Some part of it is like, I don't know what it is, and also because again, it'll be back to being supplemental income. So that's.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:34:39)
need to have a little extra, a little padding
Vetted In Vet Med (00:34:44)
And then it's a Saturday, so they only do, they work from 8 to 12. ⁓ So it's not bad, but I could tell by the end, like once I knew that the shifts that I did have scheduled, I felt like I had like some like senioritis or whatever, because ⁓ I knew that the shifts were coming to an end and I was about to start, you know, with stability and peace.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:35:04)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:35:10)
Okay.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:35:14)
And I'm like...
I'm tired. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:35:23)
especially when you don't leave on time, because I hardly ever... There were times when I left on time, but at some clinics, it's like you almost know that you're not gonna leave on time. ⁓ They take anything that come through the door. In my mind, I would like for, if I leave at five, can we not schedule sick pets at 4.30?
Vetted in Vet Med (00:35:51)
Right, right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:35:51)
because I'm trying to leave at five, you know, ⁓ but a lot of clinics, they don't do that. ⁓ Some do, ⁓ but it depends on what kind of sick, you know, ⁓ if it's ⁓ a more like easy sick, ⁓ then. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:35:54)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:36:05)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:36:11)
Yeah, maybe get a little ear infection, little diarrhea, not emaciated. I got a tumor growing on the side of my head. Like, stop playing with me. Stop.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:36:15)
Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:36:19)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:36:27)
⁓ all the walk-ins, the people that come ⁓ late, some of those clinics, they take them all. And so I'm like, y'all do know I live at five, right? ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:36:39)
Just a little reminder. ⁓ Hi guys. Just ⁓ gonna slide this little sticky note.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:36:47)
I'll be there.
So I don't even, I don't even have to worry about that anymore because, you know, they're trying to make their money. of these clinics are doing really well, but then there are some that they're struggling. So they're trying to, you know, take whatever they can take, which I don't need it.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:36:58)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:37:08)
in.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:37:14)
And we get that right. Yeah, well, I we get that right. So, I mean, you're a business and ⁓ you're trying to get it. I mean, there's a reason you're using relief doctors in the first place. So you try to get what you can get out of them, which is also a catch-22 because you don't want to make it to where they don't want to come back. And it seems that you do that. ⁓ And so now you stuck with not having any help yet again. You know, it's just a very vicious cycle of
Vetted In Vet Med (00:37:19)
Thank
Vetted In Vet Med (00:37:24)
Thank
Vetted in Vet Med (00:37:45)
of, I don't know, aggressive ⁓ culture, aggressive go and get it culture.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:37:54)
Yeah. ⁓ Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:37:57)
So yeah, I mean, I ⁓ feel like this has been the most chill month. I've been outside, I've been outside. I've been outside in the garden, okay? I have been expanding the garden. I have been fighting with squirrels yet again. I mean, ⁓ if you can recall our first and the last season, I was fighting with squirrels.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:38:09)
No, no, no. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:38:17)
Thank you.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:38:27)
And you know, now like I just gotta, I gotta get a little gully on them. I got lots of bird feeders and stuff. So I try to keep them happy so they can stay out of my stuff. But the squirrels, just, they real, they real hood. And I actually had one scale the side of my house trying to get to the bird feeder on the window yesterday. Yeah. I mean, I don't, I was like, I don't know who told you about this house.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:38:39)
Please.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:38:49)
Goodness. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:38:54)
You
Vetted in Vet Med (00:38:55)
But this is really not the house. Like they really did you a disservice. Yeah, they did you a disservice because like we, don't play that around here. We, that's a problem. Cause I got a lot of stuff growing Okay. ⁓ you know, I'm very much preparing for the apocalypse. ⁓ just kidding. ⁓ I got a lot of stuff and we have, I mean, I have expanded my garden.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:39:15)
You ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:39:22)
tremendously and I'm very excited about it. I've doing a lot of yard work because you know I want to be an oasis to the point where my next door neighbor was like I mean she'll give me flowers because she has like a lot of like lilies and stuff because we like me and her about what and what because we like stuff to come back. We don't like to plant flowers over and over again every year. Not gonna happen.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:39:26)
Thank you.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:39:37)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:39:45)
It's lovely.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:39:48)
I need people, I mean, I need people, I need things to survive. We are survivors in the house. Like if you are not doing your due diligence, if you need a little water, a little fertilizer, and then you still trying to act up, you gotta go. I I let you meet your demise. This is what it is. So she was just like, are you at home more now? And I'm laughing in my head, cause just at the clinic it's just been.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:39:52)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:39:59)
Thanks
Vetted in Vet Med (00:40:18)
They had like a spay-a-thon where it was like three days, which is a bunch of surgeries. I didn't participate because I guess I'm not fast enough yet. It's fine. It's fine. You ain't gotta, I heard it was, for lack of better phrase, shit show. So I'm okay with not being a participant in that. So I was just, you know, in the yard. There was a lot of days where there was some miscommunications. On their behalf
Vetted In Vet Med (00:40:26)
I'm not sure what's the specific way to do this.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:40:40)
⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:40:48)
about me going to work and then not having to work. Like, oh, we not actually doing it today. So y'all know gas is high right? Stop playing with me. Stop playing with me. Figure it out. Let me know out like, send me a text beforehand if you feel like there's gonna be a change in something. But, don't do that. Because then I start losing a lot more interest.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:40:58)
Bye.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:41:04)
Yes,
Vetted In Vet Med (00:41:10)
Thank you.
Right, and I might start, right, I'm gonna start showing up less and less.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:41:18)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. ⁓ I mean, I'm not gonna say I'm always looking. I'm always looking. mean, we put ourselves in these positions to have ⁓ the ability to move through veterinary medicine in every which way. ⁓ So I'm like, Zoetis what's up? ⁓ Like, what you need? What you need to work from home person? ⁓ I just like...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:41:25)
Yeah. Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:41:35)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:41:44)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:41:47)
I said it to my old practice manager slash friend and she was like, I mean, I heard that it's a pretty decent company to work for as much as a corporate place. So I was like, I don't know, let's see what's out there. Yeah, so.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:41:58)
HOOHOOHOOH-
Vetted In Vet Med (00:42:03)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:42:08)
So we just, you know, kind of, I'm well, the last week of April, I'm like working every single day. ⁓ Cause again, coin, you know, you still gotta pay bills. You still gotta pay bills. But I mean, I just been really, going back to fulfillment, like that being outside, gardening, planting flowers, making yard look a certain way, like.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:42:18)
⁓ yes. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:42:39)
That puts me in such a great mental space that everything else is just like, ⁓ do you know, like water off a ⁓ duck's back you know, it's important to be able to find these ⁓ avenues that can, you know, a lot for you to have that mental space ⁓ where you, you know, not going to work tired or irritable. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:42:42)
you
Vetted In Vet Med (00:42:50)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:43:05)
Thank you.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:43:07)
⁓ Because the moment you don't have the wiggle room, it's like you go in there and somebody says something you wrong. Now, now you're about to get to catch strays. ⁓ Everybody's gonna be like, if I don't go to Pilates, because sometimes on these Tuesdays and Thursdays, it's like clockwork. And I told my manager before she started doing, I'm like, these are my Pilates days. It's Pilates day, so when I show up a little bit later, that is what it is.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:43:15)
Bye.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:43:32)
Congrats.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:43:37)
And so ⁓ she's about to leave and they're prepping somebody else to get in that spot. And they're like, hey, know, what's your ETA? Skrt, skrt.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:43:45)
right yeah ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:43:48)
I'm going to Pilates today. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Don't ask me because if I don't go to Pilates, y'all finna get what I was gonna put out in Pilates. Stop, stop. Do not text my phone then because then I turn to another girl and I'm gonna have do that. Cause I like y'all for the most part. Like.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:44:05)
Yeah
Vetted In Vet Med (00:44:09)
Right. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:44:13)
Again, like not too many people have seen my children. They've seen my kids. Maybe by default. But I like y'all enough. Don't ruin it. Don't ruin it. Don't ruin it for us. Yeah, like tell this girl don't be texting my phone. Like I ain't get there. I promise. I promise. Like if I'm supposed to be there, I'm gonna be there. I can't tell you what time.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:44:17)
Mm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:44:21)
⁓ I need ⁓ to relay this information. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:44:42)
Immediately, but I'm gonna be there. I'm reliable in that sense. I promise. And I get work done when I'm there. Like it is, ⁓ can squeeze it in, but I mean, this month it just kind of been slow in that way. But again, I'm not complaining. ⁓ I've been blessed ⁓ from, you know, where I was before ⁓ being able to make things work and.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:44:59)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:45:09)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:45:09)
and pay bills the way that I need to so I can be outside and buying fruit trees all willy-nilly ⁓ and ⁓ super like all the plants and like ⁓ yeah I got it I gotta ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:45:22)
Get them out there. There I will. Yeah, there I will too.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:45:27)
You what, you matter of fact, I got like four different types of cucumbers growing right now, okay? So like, holler at your girl? I'm like the cucumber dealer. And the seeds, insane. My aunt was over here the other day. We had them laid out. was like, this is a problem. Not for real, because I'm be prepared. But she was like, do you have, yeah girl, I got it. What you need? What you need? Little bags and everything. I mean, it looks like a real life dealer, but.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:45:33)
Thanks.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:45:50)
Hehehehe
Vetted in Vet Med (00:45:56)
If I'm be a dealer, I'm gonna be a seed dealer. That's what I'm
Vetted In Vet Med (00:45:59)
Right.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:46:01)
It's just, it's a happy place. It's like, yeah. I mean, do you have coneflower seeds? Yeah. Like, what you need some native Mississippi wildflowers? I got that too. Like what you want? So, banana cantaloupes, I grow those. What's up? But I just feel like, you know, moving through my professional life is a-
Vetted In Vet Med (00:46:04)
Mmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:46:30)
It's almost kind of taken a backseat ⁓ to, you know, my finding my happy because that's really important right now to me. And it was important before, but I don't think that I prioritize it the way that I should have so that I can, you know, essentially supplement my life with my professional life. And you know what, that's almost like, Beth, I think I just. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:46:33)
Mmmhmm.
and yes.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:46:46)
huh. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:46:59)
think I just did something there because I wasn't really sure why I felt like working was not my thing. I just want to supplement my life with professional life. It needs to be supplemental to happy life. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:47:07)
My life, ⁓ yes! ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:47:16)
to my personal life, exactly exactly. That's it. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:47:19)
Yeah, ⁓ that's not too much to ask. I mean... ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:47:27)
That's the thing, right. it ⁓ does matter where it is. I still don't need it to be a crazy place to work because I still need my peace ⁓ I'm not going to exchange ⁓ the money for craziness. going be crazy. I still want it to be an overall, ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:47:35)
Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:47:43)
Huh? ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:47:50)
All right,
Vetted In Vet Med (00:47:57)
you know, decent place to work for my well-being because I'm spending a portion, you know, of my days and my weeks here. ⁓ And so ⁓ being able to write, use that to ⁓ basically pay for the things that, you know, I need to be paid as far as bills are concerned. But I'm like, I'm thinking about the next, you know, trip. I'm thinking about
Vetted in Vet Med (00:47:59)
Thank you.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:48:06)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:48:25)
No. Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:48:26)
next concert, you know, the next experience. ⁓ That's what I'm thinking about.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:48:31)
Yeah, I'm just thinking about the next, do I want another banana tree? Like, if this one doesn't fit. Like, I want giant eight-foot trellises covered in things that, you know, I just want to go out there and be like, I got cucumbers in the backyard. Do you want some? I got tomatoes. I got a micro baby, like a little, you can grow tomatoes inside.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:48:46)
Yeah. Yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:48:58)
I just want to have that kind of availability. Now, I do feel like I want more experiences. Like this time around, my oldest, she was very adamant. She'd go on to the beach for her birthday. She'd be able to keep telling people at the school, she's not gonna be here. She's not gonna be here come the Monday of her birthday. She's not gonna be here. Out. I mean, that's the kind, like start early. Start early. Tell people the expectations.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:49:20)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Mm-mm. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:49:28)
I won't be in the people school because I'm gonna be having experience because life is about experiences. Y'all can teach me things, but life's gonna teach me a whole lot more. mean, shout out to the educators, because I don't know how y'all do it. I'm on the field trip sometimes and I'm just like.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:49:40)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:49:48)
girl the field trips i got one next week
Vetted in Vet Med (00:49:52)
Little person, hey, ⁓ you hear them talking to you?
my God. And I ain't gonna lie, some of the parents be on there and I'd be like, get your child. They, the letter.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:50:03)
Some of these chaperones, I'm like, come on, y'all. We here to go.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:50:09)
⁓ You're to watch with your child. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:50:12)
But we here to watch all these people's children And girl, I'll be cleaning them kids' faces, because they be looking, or I'll get them something to clean their face, you know, for them to clean their face. I'm like, um, to clean, yeah, get this off of you, or like the whatever, the food they just ate, you know. I'm like, you know your face is covered in chocolate, right?
Vetted in Vet Med (00:50:17)
Yes! Yes!
Vetted In Vet Med (00:50:41)
Or, you know, helping them put their little stuff on or tape ⁓ them. ⁓ But yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:50:50)
And I'm like, getting the babes down the steps. We went to the Natural Science Museum and they were having to walk down the steps. They're doing all this construction. I'm like, I don't even know how y'all had this. I guess y'all gotta make money too. It didn't even look like the Natural Science Museum when we first walked in. I'm like, what's happening? I hope y'all got something good coming. Because y'all still doing field trips and it's dusty and all kind of stuff.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:51:03)
What?
Vetted In Vet Med (00:51:10)
Right.
to dust. Excuse the mess.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:51:18)
I was just like, okay. And so just getting the little babies down the steps and making sure they don't go tumbling. And I mean, it was just some parents where we sat down and one part of the room and the lady is just on the microphone and she was like, okay, we're about to do a feeding. And mind you, I can hear her because I'm focused on her. Them kids are so loud and they were just, I'm like.
Hey, she don't want you on come sit, sit down, sit down. And then of course my youngest, she is in the mix. She don't even go to school yet. She in the mix. I'm like, sit down, sit down, She don't want you on the ledge. Y'all gotta, and I had to tell another child to sit down. His mama right there. You hear this lady talking? She wants him to sit down. Like, can you just participate?
Vetted In Vet Med (00:51:49)
You guys.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:51:53)
Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:52:05)
⁓ Mmm... Mmm...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:52:11)
Right ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:52:12)
I mean, we just not here for you to be shooting a breeze. Like she... Okay. Yeah. Stuff like that. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:52:23)
I feel like it's a luxury to be at, you know, to ⁓ be a chaperone you know, to be able to ⁓ participate and be a part of their lives because they're young and honestly do grow really fast. And so it's going to be a point where there's not going to be any more ⁓ field trips to chaperone.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:52:30)
⁓ Yes, yes. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:52:41)
No.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:52:51)
Yeah, yeah. ⁓ mean, you know, the field days and all that kind of stuff, it kind of goes back to wanting this professional life to supplement your happy life. Like, I don't want her to have to ask me, are you coming on field trip and me say, nah, I gotta work. What? Work? And not her saying it, me, work. ⁓ What? Geez, I gotta work.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:02)
Mm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:08)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:53:19)
I can't, ⁓ and I did that one time and baby, it ate me up. It ate me up. I mean, it won't happen again. It won't happen again. I mean, if not on purpose, ⁓ if it's something I don't have to. ⁓ But it's just, you know, being able to have that flexibility is, being able to execute it this time around and not talk about it.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:22)
yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:28)
Yeah. Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:34)
Mmm, mmm, mmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:46)
We'll be right back.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:53:46)
and how it's important to me, I get to feel how important it is. And I don't think I could want for anything to do like this. It's it's the life right now. This is just the life, just.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:53:56)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:54:01)
I mean, of course it'd be more in life if I could decide, let's go to Hawaii this weekend. But on a whim, you know?
Vetted In Vet Med (00:54:10)
Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:54:14)
no. Yeah, that's something that, ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:54:18)
you know, pink sand beach first and then a white sand beach, then a black sand beach. know what I'm saying? We're not there yet. ⁓ We're not there yet. But ⁓ the Lord is working. He's working. ⁓ But I mean, honestly, child they have been ⁓ the ⁓ most of my life.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:54:25)
I'm ⁓ go to all the beaches.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:54:35)
Mm. Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:54:48)
I mean, we had to do some hospital trips over the last couple weeks. My oldest had some dental work done, my god, today. That was a thing, and just seeing her anesthetized, was, yeah, but she was like, euphoric, and she was smiling at something in the corner. was like, what is going
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:00)
Peace.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:05)
So, yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:13)
Oh lord ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:55:16)
And she was, it's so funny because she was just like, she's funny because she tends to be a little bit like, she can be reserved as like the older child. ⁓ But she's, you know, she a little bit, ⁓ she a little bit of my little hood rat too. But she was like trying to keep it together. And I was like, what is it? What are you smiling that? And she just like, ⁓ I just don't think she was ready to go because they were telling me most kids come out hollering and screaming. It's just something that.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:17)
See you.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:26)
Yeah ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:55:46)
that anesthesia does to them and I was like, that's weird. Like my child she don't cry like that. that would be weird to see. And she didn't, I think she just got kind of overwhelmed and she was starting to tear ⁓ up. Side note, did you know that anesthesia causes children to have feelings of like depression and sadness and all these things? ⁓ I, cause she was crying overnight and I was like, what is wrong? I was like, I'm sorry, you sad or something? She was like, yeah, she didn't know why.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:51)
deal out.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:55:55)
Yeah.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:07)
and
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:12)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:56:16)
And I'm like, ⁓ hell no, we can't do this again. Cause I feel like that just kind of like amplifies something in them. Yeah, like what if that just kind of sparked something and made that an actual issue going forward. I don't like that. So I said, look, we gonna have to make sure them teeth is right, girl. Okay.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:16)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:30)
Yeah. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:36)
Bye.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:40)
Yes, yes. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (00:56:41)
You can't go through this again. She said, I'm not doing it. I know you're not doing it again. ⁓ And then my youngest ⁓ has a blood sugar thing. ⁓ She's a zebra. Nobody knows why she has this thing. it ⁓ was like pulling teeth to get that out of them that she's a zebra. ⁓ And that's a complex situation because I think the nurse, I don't know if she necessarily let it slip. think she was just talking too much.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:56:45)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:57:02)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:57:10)
but we were sitting in the hospital and she was like, you wouldn't be on this floor if you weren't complex. Are you complex? And I'm like, ⁓ girl, what? ⁓ And so, you know, we just, we did.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:57:16)
So what did you talk about?
Vetted In Vet Med (00:57:21)
low, um, she have a low blood sugar? Or a low sugar.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:57:25)
Yeah, so she has a low blood sugar thing. ⁓ It used to be a lot worse. It's way better now, which was the odd part because I think they kind of just ⁓ got Dex on the day that I wasn't there at the doctor and they were like, yeah, we should do this thing. I'm like, why now? ⁓ It's been better and she's had fewer episodes for sure. ⁓ Like this morning I was like...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:57:28)
Mm.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:57:33)
Yeah, right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:57:45)
Mmmmm
Vetted in Vet Med (00:57:52)
She was talking about how hungry she was. I'm like, I need to go get you a granola bar. And so this thing is ready. ⁓ And she was like, I'm okay, mommy. I'm okay. Like she knows that she ain't trying to go back. She don't. ⁓ I mean, she been poked and prodded far more than I could ever imagine for a three-year-old. ⁓ More than I ever have. ⁓ I mean, that's ⁓ stressful. ⁓ And so they were just trying to figure out what it is. I mean, there's...
Vetted In Vet Med (00:58:11)
Well, I'm gonna take a break.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:58:22)
I had to be very specific and say, hey, ⁓ what are y'all looking for? I don't feel like you have to ask, you should have to ask those questions, but I had to be like, stop. What are you looking for? Are you looking for hyperinsulinemia? And of course, you not gone always be like, I'm a veterinarian, so talk to me like that. Look, now, ⁓ talk to me like a person. Yeah, talk to me like a person, because the thing about it is you need to work on your practice.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:58:27)
Right.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:58:35)
Nick.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:58:42)
And we just ⁓ work, work, work. Like a person, yeah.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:58:51)
It doesn't matter if I'm a veterinarian or not. You need to be able to have a conversation and explain to somebody why they're here. I mean, we already had a crappy experience with the whole rigmarole of going through, getting in the room and starting the test and she was supposed to be fasted and da da da da da. And I'm sitting here like, so y'all don't know what y'all doing. So y'all don't have a plan yet or you know.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:58:51)
And with that.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:59:10)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:59:21)
We both are frustrated as parents and it's like, we just want y'all to figure out what's going on. We trying to assist and y'all are not doing what's in her best interest right now to figure it out by not having a plan set up the way that it is ⁓ without me going into a whole thing about that. But ⁓ I mean, I think just based off of my own research and.
Vetted In Vet Med (00:59:34)
Mm-hmm. ⁓
Vetted In Vet Med (00:59:39)
Cheers.
Vetted in Vet Med (00:59:47)
looking at my chart and going through her values and stuff like that. I think we have been doing the best we could possibly do to make sure that she didn't have these episodes, which is supplying her with the whole meals and making sure she has snacks on board and make sure that she eats the way she's supposed to. Because if my niece and my oldest get up from the table and she's done.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:00:14)
my god. She's done. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (01:00:18)
It's my bride. You ain't finna miss nothing.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:00:22)
Oh my gosh, that is Demi It's like I don't wanna eat by myself. ⁓ I'm right here You're not eating by yourself. ⁓ If you was eating when they was eating, you would be done and then you wouldn't be here by yourself.
Vetted in Vet Med (01:00:24)
Mm.
⁓ my-
⁓ Not you, that's not you. Yeah, yeah. ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (01:00:41)
But yeah, we're here. We're here and you trying to do cartwheels in the middle of the floor when you got spaghetti smeared across your face. Sit down. Sit down and eat. Yeah, like, so. I mean, honestly, that's just been the gist of it because, I mean, this baby's had endocrinologists, the neurologists, all the things and like.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:01:05)
And still ⁓
Vetted in Vet Med (01:01:10)
Yeah, and I was very clear. She's not going on no medicine. If you did find something like, oh, well she needs to, we're not, we're not doing that. I know there's another way. Try to play that with me. I know there's another way. So we gon' rock it out. Just give me your answer. But they still don't have one. again, I know how difficult it is to have like a zebra case. We all do. We don't have, we're always gonna have all the answers, but.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:01:20)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:01:26)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:01:35)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (01:01:40)
not being prepared made it that much worse that you didn't have an answer at the end of it. But anywho, I say that to say they have been life. I mean they always are but of course that has taken the forefront.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:01:58)
Mm-hmm.
Vetted in Vet Med (01:02:01)
Work has been work and the garden is flourishing. ⁓ The indoor plants, let me ⁓ talk about my girls in here. They flourishing too, they flourishing too. ⁓ They're doing their thing, ⁓ yep.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:02:05)
The garden is fluorishing
Vetted in Vet Med (01:02:18)
But you know, life be life. On the outside though, chaos. That's why you gotta keep it cool on the inside, because baby, it is chaos out here. Amen.
Vetted In Vet Med (01:02:30)
It is, it is.
