Dr. Laura Thomas
Officially, Laura Thomas PhD, RNutr, PGDip - Registered Nutritionist. Unofficially, disgruntled and disenchanted with a profession committed to upholding power and the subjugation of bodies. Over the past twelve years I have slowly been unraveling everything my training taught me about health, weight, and bodies.
My clinical work centres on helping parents and families end inter-generation dieting and body shame, and work towards a greater sense of embodiment and ease in their relationship with food.
In my writing I aim to complicate overly simplistic narratives about food, nutrition, and bodies. I explore the social, historical, and political influences over how and what we eat and how we feed our kids. I’m the author of two books focussed on repairing our (often pretty messed up) relationship with food and our bodies: Just Eat It and How to Just Eat It. Follow me on Instagram here: @laurathomasphd
