The Millbrook Files is an investigative horror podcast following independent podcaster Avery Quinn as she sets out to document the strange folklore surrounding one forgotten small town. Urban legends. Haunted locations. Unexplained disappearances. Forgotten cemeteries. Scary stories everyone swears happened to a friend of a friend.
Then a package arrives.
Inside: a weathered red binder labeled The Campfire Protocols, a collection of bizarre rules supposedly written by the people responsible for patrolling Blackwood Forest. Rules that make no sense... until listeners begin recognizing them, strangers start warning Avery to stop asking questions, and people begin remembering the town differently.

File# 002 There’s a Road Outside Town Nobody Uses

There are roads people avoid. Not because they're closed, not because they're dangerous, and not because there's a sign telling you to turn around. People just… stop using them. And after a while, nobody remembers who stopped first…Or why.
In Millbrook, that road is Blackwood Road. Officially, it's just a county road outside town. It connects two points the same way dozens of other roads do. It's on the maps (the ones that haven't been updated) It has a speed limit sign, a painted center line, and a stretch of gravel shoulder where you could pull over if you needed to, but nobody ever does.
In File 002, Avery Quinn starts asking the question nobody in Millbrook seems comfortable answering: why does everyone know about this road, and why does nobody take it? No accidents on record, reported incidents, or any official reason. Just a quiet, collective agreement that Blackwood Road is the kind of haunted location you don't need a ghost story to explain.
The further Avery digs into the town's unexplained mysteries, the clearer the same pattern becomes: Millbrook doesn't forbid things, it just stops talking about them. And eventually, everyone else does too.
