The Alchemy of Masculinity
The Alchemy of Masculinity explores the journey of masculine initiation through shadow integration, sexual energy mastery, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth.
After more than 15 years of struggle with pornography addiction, disconnection, and self-abandonment, I entered a path of deep inner work that transformed my relationship with masculinity, intimacy, purpose, and personal power. What emerged was not perfection, but a return to authenticity, embodiment, and truth.
Through raw conversations, personal stories, collaborations, and practical insights, we explore masculine embodiment, sexual energy, emotional regulation, shadow work, intimacy, rites of passage, esotericism, archetypal meanings, spirituality, and the challenges facing modern men.
This podcast is for men who know they are capable of more. Men who are ready to stop performing, reclaim their power, integrate their shadow, and forge a life of purpose, integrity, and authentic masculine presence.
Welcome to The Alchemy of Masculinity.
The Alchemy of Masculinity
Why life falls apart before a breakthrough: spiritual awakening, letting go, and transformation
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Many people feel caught between who they were and who they are becoming. Old identities begin to fall away, familiar structures stop working, and the future feels uncertain. This in-between stage can feel uncomfortable, confusing, and even terrifying, especially when life is asking you to let go before you fully know what comes next.
In this episode of The Alchemy of Masculinity, I step away from teaching and speak more personally about the liminal space, spiritual transformation, and the surrender required when following a deeper inner calling.
I reflect on my journey over the last eight years since moving to Greece, and how intuition, dreams, signs, and inner knowing have often guided me more than logic or certainty. I explore why transitions can feel like a kind of death for the ego, especially for men conditioned to seek control, stability, and security.
Using the metaphor of the butterfly and the chrysalis, I explain why these uncertain phases are not mistakes, but necessary spaces of transformation. Growth cannot be rushed. The discomfort, grief, and unknown are often part of becoming.
This episode is especially relevant for those navigating spiritual awakening, life transitions, masculinity, emotional healing, and trusting themselves through uncertainty and change.
In This Episode:
• The meaning of the liminal space and spiritual transition
• Trusting intuition, dreams, and inner guidance
• The butterfly metaphor and stages of transformation
• Why uncertainty triggers fear, control, and resistance
• Masculinity, surrender, and letting go of old identities
• Spiritual awakening and ego death
• Moving through change with trust and compassion
Sometimes life removes who you were before revealing who you are becoming.

The Liminal Space Nobody talks about that deep, wild surrender that is required to transition between one phase of life to the next. Especially if you're leading a more spiritual life or you are answering a certain calling, you're devoted to living a life that is about being more open and being more aligned with your truth and what it is you are here to offer to the world. More often than not, there will be transitions between phases, and these phases are the liminal spaces, those spaces that require contemplation, quiet, deep surrender, and a wholehearted trust in the universe that the path unfolding will unfold in the way that will lead you to your greatest and highest good. Welcome and New Direction Hi, everyone. Welcome to another episode of the Bridger of Worlds podcast. I'm your host, Ioannis Kokkinos. Thank you for being here today. So today I'm going to really change gears here. I'm just coming off of the Dark Masculine series. If you haven't checked that series out, I suggest you do so. We got into a lot of juicy and informative topics around archetypal symbolism regarding masculinity, femininity, sexuality, spirituality, inner child healing, and so on and so forth. So because I made this series, I very much went into teacher/guide mode. I haven't recorded an episode in quite a while regarding my personal journey and where I'm at, and just give some words of encouragement here, some motivation. Because if you are drawn to this channel, if you are drawn to my work, then most likely you are leading a more spiritual path, and that does require a level of trust and surrender. So I know I've been on this journey for the last eight or so years, ever since I moved to Greece. Now I have made a few episodes about, um, some moments in time and some travels within Greece. It's been quite the hero's journey in itself. Why Transitions Feel Unstable But what I want to talk about today is the liminal space, is the space that does show up from time to time when we are leading a life of surrender and trust. It's quite a uncomfortable space to be in. It's quite grueling sometimes because you are putting your full trust in the universe, and you are really moving through life much more intuitively. And especially as men, we have a very hard time connecting to our intuition because we are raised, and we are wired as well to be more logical, But not all men want to be solely logical because we are both left and right-brained. We have the rational mind, but we also have the intuitive mind. And the thing with the intuitive mind is it helps us unpack messages that are not so obvious from time to time. They require more contemplation, more meditation, more checking in with yourself, more connecting with yourself. So I wanna just bring this to the space today because I think collectively nobody knows what the fuck is going on. Like... Uh, and I guess it's fair to say that it, uh, you know, in many occasions, when do we ever really know what's going on 100% of the time? But I guess if you're maybe like myself in a situation where you're moving more often, you've not established yourself in, you know, your, your dream home. You don't have your forever vocation just yet, right? You're changing jobs more often than usual, so that can lead to a sense of instability and insecurity because after all, we do need to feel secure and safe, right? And money is the biggest player in that, along with our health, of course. Health is actually number one. Without our health, we can't really do anything else. But money is pretty up there because without money, we don't have food, we don't have a house, we don't have any form of movement, any form of travel, even creativity. Money can lead to creative endeavors and expansive projects and so on and so forth. Butterfly Metamorphosis Lesson So the liminal space usually wants to strip us of the fluff, right? The liminal space is a transition stage. So if we're thinking of, let's say, the metamorphosis of a butterfly. The caterpillar doesn't just appear into a butterfly. The caterpillar has to enter a cocoon and enter the chrysalis stage, and this is the liminal space. It's the phase between two life cycles. And from the human perspective, we're not insects, we're not caterpillars and butterflies. Ego Versus Intuition We do have an ego, and the ego does want to know what is going on all of the time because basically the ego wants to ensure our safety and survival, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, right? Like the ego gets a bad rap and for a good reason. The ego can get us in a lot of trouble. But, you know, no matter how much of the work we're doing, how spiritually enlightened we become, how much we awaken, we'll always have an ego because the ego is about our physical livelihood and the way we ground and the way we move through the physical world and how we make money and how we instill boundaries, how we develop psychic autonomy, right? So we of course need the ego to sit in the passenger's seat and not necessarily drive the car What happens is in the liminal stage, the ego usually does tend to amp up because the liminal stage is about surrendering. It is about trusting. It is about opening yourself up to a higher force and to a higher energy, call it God, call it source, call it spirit, call it destiny, right? We do have an inner calling, all of us, and our job, our purpose in this lifetime is to realize what that calling is and to follow that calling. And the calling doesn't communicate to us logically. It communicates to, it co- communicates to us intuitively, and this will happen with messages, with dreams, with signs and omens, usually numbers, usually coins, animals, right? The universe is conscious. The universe is a conscious being of existence that has created absolutely everything since time, no time. Time is a human construct as well. So everything is communicating. Everything is information. So when we do open ourselves up more to life, to the universe, to ourselves, right? Because first and foremost, we have to trust ourselves, and we do want to realize that connection to the universe as we connect to ourselves. Really, like, that gap between me versus the universe has to close in life because we are here to realize that we are, are actually one with the universe. This doesn't mean we control everything and everyone. I guess that's like the trap of the ego, right? A lot of, um... Oh, fuck. There's a mosquito in my house. It's okay. I could see it. I'll get it. Um, the idea-- What was I saying? Yeah. The idea is to become one with the universe, but to become a channel for that force, that life force , that call, that energy that moves through everything Collective Chrysalis Shift So collectively, we are moving through a lot of transition, no matter what part in the world you are, we're all connected. We all know what's going on globally, and this can put our ego in a state of panic. And collectively, I do believe we are moving into the chrysalis stage. We are in the chrysalis stage. We are leaving the old world behind, and we're entering the new world. And there's a lot of talk about that. There's a lot of talk about the new world, you know, the Age of Aquarius, What's gonna happen with the financial institutions, with government institutions, globally, there are a lot of shifts happening, and it does on the surface look very chaotic. It is bringing up a lot of turmoil and personally, we're all in it, no matter what stage of life we are in. So the best advice that I can give, because I'm also very much in this and this wasn't activated by any war or, something that happened in my country that I grew up in or something that happened on a governmental level or anything like that. It wasn't a job situation. My Call to Greece I heard a inner calling. I heard a call to come to move to Greece, and that version of myself from eight years ago doesn't even really exist because it was a much deeper and more spiritual journey than I intended it to be. Whatever my ego thought this move was going to be, because I did have ideas of what I wanted to do and who to be here, it didn't at all, at all, at all turn out in the way that I thought it would because my soul had other plans. The call that we hear and the inner calling that we have is our soul that is driving us and leading us to the places and lessons and people and circumstances that we are to, uh, evolve through in this lifetime. The soul is here to evolve, And the soul does seek out adversity. The soul does seek out challenging situations because it is adversity and challenge that help us evolve. And soul in Greek is psyche, psyche. And psyche was another word for butterfly for the ancient Greeks. And as I talked about before, in order for a butterfly to appear, the death of the caterpillar has to happen, and the liminal space of the chrysalis, of the cocoon has to happen. And that liminal space is what makes or breaks the butterfly journey. Trust the Cocoon Struggle Because if we break open the cocoon too soon, if we see a butterfly struggling to leave the cocoon, we are actually meant to leave it alone because that struggle of leaving the cocoon strengthens the wings for the butterfly to take flight. So we can apply that to our own lives, and I guess this is more of like a motivational episode because we're all in it. Each and every one of us are probably moving through challenging times, whether it has to do with what's g- going on in the world or if it's more personal in your life. Trust that the end of whatever's going on is for the greater and higher good, and the ego may disagree with that, right? The ego wants to cling and hoard to the safe and to the familiar, and that's fine. We give space to that. We hold space for that because we do need safety and familiarity as human beings, but there's no growth there. There's no evolution in comfort and in familiarity. So trust that if you are moving through a difficult pos-- a difficult time in your life and the end of something is occurring, if it feels like your whole world is crashing and burning actually, then you are in the chrysalis stage. You are in the transitory phase between your old life and your new life, and that liminal space requires more grace, more compassion, more quiet, more meditation, more contemplation, more trust, more surrender because these are the forces of life. These are the forces of universe that do, uh, activate life, death, and rebirth. Everything is constantly evolving, and we have to be willing to surrender to that as well. We have to be willing to let go in order for that process to fully take us and trust that it will align us with our truth because ultimately our soul is going through this evolution, right? Our soul, that is psyche, that is the butterfly, and we all want to become the butterflies of our own lives, whether we're men or women. And so we have to give space and hold space for the liminal phase because that is the only way to fully develop, fully bloom, and fully come into being aligned with our soul's truth. My Current Transition So I offer you this today because I am very much as well in a liminal phase. I've been in and out of them for the last eight years. It has felt like eight years of a liminal phase, if I'm gonna be honest, but there have been phases of more security and stability than others. Right now in my personal life, I am transitioning between an old way of working, an old way of creating income for myself. I did have a job that permitted me to tr- to travel around Greece and so on and so forth, but it felt like that was complete, that the time was up with all of that. So now I am in a phase of more quiet contemplation and seeing what wants to come through. Yes, I have a vision. Yes, I have plans. Yes, I have goals, but I'm also trusting and surrendering to see what actually wants to come through and be created through me. Surrender Meets Willpower Because we tend to forget that we are channels for life. We are channels for creation, and that is how surrender and will get to play together as part of the human condition. When we surrender to the higher power, to the universe, to destiny, to our inner calling, we then get to use our will to act upon those aspirations, those dreams, and those visions. But it's not easy, but it is possible. So I wanted to bring this to the space today, a little motivation, a little inspiration, And I hope this resonated with you.
