E42: From A Family Legacy, GA Interior Exterior Contractors Has Built More Than Just Better Homes
From DIY disasters to dream home transformations, Ever Castro knows what it takes to create lasting beauty in Atlanta homes. As the driving force behind Georgia Interior Exterior Contractors LLC, Ever brings 25 years of expertise to every kitchen, bathroom, basement, and full house remodel his team undertakes.
What began as a two-person operation has blossomed into a 20-person team with an impressive 98% client retention rate. Ever's business represents more than skilled craftsmanship—it embodies a family legacy that began when his father immigrated to America in the 1980s and entered the construction trade. Today, that legacy extends across borders, with Ever's brothers running similar companies in Florida and Canada.
During our conversation, Ever dispels common renovation myths, recounting a recent rescue mission for a homeowner whose DIY floor leveling project went awry despite following online tutorials. This perfectly illustrates why professional expertise matters, especially for projects that appear deceptively simple. Beyond technical skills, Georgia Interior Exterior Contractors has cultivated something equally invaluable—a genuine community. Ever shares stories of fishing trips with clients who've become friends and sporting events enjoyed through connections made on job sites.
Behind the business success lies a personal journey of resilience. After losing his mother, Ever moved to Atlanta in 2000 seeking a fresh start. That decision has led to deep community roots and a thriving business built on a simple promise: "Once we start something, we finish it and make sure people are happy and satisfied."
Need a home transformation of your own? Visit georgiainterior.com to learn how Ever and his team can turn your renovation dreams into reality. Your perfect space might be closer than you think!
This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Millie M.
Speaker 2:Hello everybody, welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. I am your host, millie M. Are you in need of a home remodel? Well, I have someone closer than you think. I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor Ever Castro of Georgia Interior Exterior Contractors LLC. How you doing Ever?
Speaker 3:Great. How about you, Millie?
Speaker 2:Doing quite well. Thanks for asking. We're excited to learn all about you and your business. Tell us more about Georgia Interior and Exterior Contractors.
Speaker 3:So we've been in the business since 2000,. So going a little bit. Or 25 years now, right?
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 3:So we started. Uh, obviously, you know small we. You know two persons and right now we're about 20 people strong. We work all over Atlanta. We specialize in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, full house remodel and you know it's a small family business company. Everybody in my family works with us.
Speaker 2:That's beautiful that you were able to incorporate everyone. So how did you get into this? Was this something that was handed down to you from your family, or how did you get started?
Speaker 3:Yes, so actually my family migrated here back in the 70s. So you know, I started migrating here and my dad moved here in 85 and he started construction when he got here. He still is and he's actually retired, but he's still working with us. He does logistics for us but he's retired. Um, yeah, you know, my brother has the same in Florida. My oldest brother in Canada too has a construction company. So yeah, I guess it runs in the family.
Speaker 2:What a legacy. What are some of the myths or misconceptions about your industry or what you do?
Speaker 3:Myths. It's just, you know, uh, for example, helping a homeowner, uh, last week that he was laying the floor himself and he you know he's watched the video how to level it and he couldn't do it. It just didn't turn out right. So he called us for help and we're actually going to be helping him this weekend. So those are the myths. And then, you know, sometimes it's easy, yes, but sometimes it can get a little complicated.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. There's something worth that 25 years of experience that you have for sure. Who are your target customers and how do you reach them?
Speaker 3:So most of our customers we have like a 98% retention. You know they'll call us back and they'll refer us. We get a lot of referrals, but our target customers are mostly people who wants to upgrade their house. They want to make their bathroom prettier, modern, nicer, or they need more room. They want to finish their basement or add an extra area to the house like a deck or a patio. They don't want to move and so they decide to make a big addition on the house. We do that too a lot.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I would assume that it would be a little bit easier to just kind of expand what you already have than to make a big move for a lot of people. So, outside of work, what do you do for fun?
Speaker 3:So we actually in the same, our customers. I have a customer who loves fishing so we have we do a fishing trip every three months with other customers of ours. And you know people in the industry. I also have a great customer named dave, that he he sells tickets, so he always gives me tickets to go to the stadium the Braves, the Falcons. So again, same industry. You meet a lot of people and it's just we. You know, I like sports, I think it's sports that we like a lot.
Speaker 2:It sounds like your business has turned into a community and a family, for sure. Yes, yes. So let's switch gears a little bit. Can you talk to me about a hardship or a life challenge you overcame and how it made you stronger?
Speaker 3:So I think, yeah, I think yeah, life changes. When I probably moved to Atlanta, you know again back in 2000,. Because we grew up in Florida and Naples and that's that's the big reason we move, you know, my mom passed away so I decided to move here, thank you. I decided to move here, you know, start over and have it. I think it changed in a fresh start. That's the reason we move. And then it was we're. We're very blessed, we're very happy, you know. We have, you know, grown roots here in Atlanta. And you know my kids are big. My oldest daughter is an attorney. Now she works for the government. So we're we're very happy.
Speaker 2:Good job, dad, and I'm glad to hear that you're happy. So tell our listeners one thing you would like for them to always remember about Georgia interior exterior contractors.
Speaker 3:So one thing you want to always know and hear about us is that we, once we start something, we finish it and we make sure people's happy and satisfied and we don't leave until you know they're happy and they, you know they, they. We accomplish what they have hired us to get done for them. We always deliver.
