E70: Unlocking Your Energy: A Holistic Massage Experience

Milli M. & Sahias Unkudu Episode 70

What if the key to unlocking your highest potential lies in the forgotten wisdom of energy flow? Sahias Unkudu of NEM Magic and Meditation offers a revolutionary approach to wellness that transcends traditional massage therapy.

Sahias shares his remarkable journey from martial artist to healer following a life-changing kundalini awakening that elevated his sensitivity to energy. His signature SLA massage therapy combines martial arts-based stretching, full-body massage, and acupressure techniques to release blocked chi and stored trauma. "When you unlock the flow of your chi, your vital force, then you can achieve a reset," he explains, detailing how clients often leave sessions feeling noticeably lighter as energetic blockages dissolve.

Beyond physical techniques, Sahias offers Shabakta guided meditation to identify and replace limiting thought patterns that sabotage success. "If you want to be a high achiever and you're thinking self-defeating things like 'I can't do this' in the background, goodbye to the high achievements," he notes. This comprehensive approach addresses the complete person—physical tension, energy flow, and mental obstacles—providing a truly holistic healing experience.

Where conventional massage might focus solely on relaxation or physical recovery, NEM creates a sanctuary for evolution. Sahias works with diverse clients from high-performing athletes to stressed professionals and those recovering from injuries, emphasizing that every session is bespoke. "You tell me what you're working to achieve, no matter what it is, and we're your corner person. It's not a one-size-fits-all type of thing," he promises.

Ready to experience this unique approach to wellness? Discover how blocked energy might be limiting your potential by connecting with Sahias through his website or exploring his book "Natural Sex, Energy and the Science of Complementary Opposites." Your journey toward wholeness might begin with something as simple as allowing your energy to flow freely again.

Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Millie.

Speaker 2:

M. Hello everybody, welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. I am your host, millie M. Are you in need of a magical massage? Well, one might be closer than you think. I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor Sahayas Nkudu of NEM Magic and Meditation. How are you, sahayez?

Speaker 3:

I'm great. It's an honor to be here.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much. We are so excited to hear all about you and your business. Tell us more about NEM.

Speaker 3:

So NEM is more than a business. I usually call it NEM. It's more than a business. It's a holistic sanctuary for people to evolve. It's not just about a one-time experience. It's about evolving into the highest or the best version of yourself.

Speaker 3:

I offer some self-developed signature offerings. My most notable offering is SLA massage therapy. It's a combination of martial arts based stretching, a full body massage, acupressure not acupuncture, acupressure no need and because all types of memories and trauma and different things can be stored in the body when you have an SLA massage therapy. The thoroughness of the therapy, addressing every aspect of your body tension, lack of flexibility, because you're getting a thorough stretch, you're getting, uh, adaptive pressure and the type of massage that addresses all your pain points. If you have pain, it will be focused on. So your chi flow due to the stretching.

Speaker 3:

For those who may not know what chi flow is, it's like an eternal internal energy that travels along your meridians in your body and if it's blocked it will be parallels in your day-to-day life, your mind. You might be frustrated or feeling stagnant emotionally, mentally and physically, but when you unlock the flow of your chi, or your life force, your vital force, then you can achieve a reset. My clients leave out saying things like I feel so much lighter or I finally released this. I released that. It's just a beautiful experience. Also, I offer Shabak, the guided meditation because I've been meditating for most of my life now and I'm 51 and pretty decent at it. When I started near magic and meditation and I decided I would offer a massage that Also combined stretching what other service would I offer? And I'm like, I love to meditate and I've had some success with it, so I'm going to offer guided meditation to help people sort things out. Shabakta, guided meditation, is a identification and replacement ritual.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

So that you can identify and replace useless thought and speech patterns with useful ones. We have a lot of internal dialogue going on. Everybody does. The key is to make sure that your internal dialogue reinforces, buttresses and builds up your the way you want to live, the way you want to express yourself in the world. So if you want to be a high achiever and you're thinking self-defeating things like I can't do this and I can't do that in the background, goodbye to the high achievements. Or there you will find yourself being more challenged than you should be. So if you don't know that these things are running in the background I mean Shabbat guided meditation can reveal this for you, and I also offer SLA move and stretch meditation and, by the way, all of my offerings are available to corporate clients as well and so I can lead people in a moving, stretching meditation where, although you're moving, stretching and lightly dancing, even you can still achieve the same type of epiphanies that you might achieve if you were sitting still in meditation if you were sitting still in meditation.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I say that a lot, that there are meditative activities, like the whole point of meditating is to clear your mind right, and for me, dance is that thing where, you know, in a space, I'm not stressed, I'm not worried, my mind is clear and it's a beautiful experience for me. So I completely understand that. And I hear that NEM. It sounds like it just provides an overall spiritual experience for sure. So how did you get into it? I know you said you meditated all your life, but how did you decide you were going to offer this type of service to people?

Speaker 3:

Let me see if I could condense a long story. So I never thought in the beginning, on the early stages of my life, I would ever end up being a healer. I was a runt of a child and my ears stuck out and I had an uncle that was over 400 pounds. Um, my body was just. I was the smallest boy on every team I played on sports team I played on. So people had a million reasons to pick on me and I used to get bullied and I fought back. And then it got to a point where, as I grew from middle school age to high school age, I got real good at fighting.

Speaker 3:

On the inside my internal dialogue I just want to be left alone. I'm not going to let anybody mess with me. On the outside, the way this look to people is he thinks he's bad. So it created a, a dynamic where on the inside I really just don't want to be bullied, but on the outside people thought I was a bully. Yeah me fighting, and I got in trouble and all kinds of stuff. And so I kept fighting into the young adult years and I finally connected with a martial arts teacher that showed me a way out of my foolishness I would share with him things like yeah, I know I got a bad temper, and he would immediately cut me short. He will say don't say that. I'm like, why not? It's the truth. You want a good temper, don't you? Yeah, well, so you got a good temper and at first this didn't resonate with me. I'm like it don't make sense, it's not authentic, I'm not telling the truth.

Speaker 3:

But he just hit me with stuff like that until finally, because I really respected him. I never saw anybody in my life that could fight like him but was so humble and so approachable, and I knew how dangerous he was. But how could you be so serene all the time? So I said you know what? You keep saying that I'm going to do it, and on the inside I meant it. And so I would catch myself. Anytime I would say whether I said it out loud or within my mind, anything close to that, I would stop myself and I would substitute better speech and thought in place of it. And one day I looked up and I realized it's been a long time since I've had a fight.

Speaker 3:

It's been a long time since I really got angry. It's been a long time since I was like that at all and it really taught me something. But now let's fast forward many years afterwards and I am it's around 2017 and I just left a real. I just had a real bad breakup with my ex at the time and I had to start over, and I went through a path of solitude and loss. Well, loss to solitude and in solitude, meditation was my transformation, because I really got to know myself well and during during the ritual, I had a kundalini experience, a kundalini awakening. Do you know what that is?

Speaker 2:

Tell me about it, please.

Speaker 3:

So have you ever heard of the chakras? I have. So the chakras are energy centers that are aligned with your spine seven of them and there's energy that sleeps at the base, below your root chakra, that if you awaken this energy, it will rise spontaneously and quickly and open up each chakra. It will come up the line of your spine and burst it out over the crown chakra of the head and it feels like full body bliss when it happens. But after that nothing's the same. Nothing's the same because everything about me had been enhanced. I knew then that I had healing in my hands. As a martial artist, I manipulate chi and I do a lot of deep breathing. But at this point here, my hands became super sensitive and I became super sensitive, or super sensitively aware of the energy that I could use or manipulate in my hands.

Speaker 3:

And you use that in your massage? I do, and all my life I've been physical. I've been working out since I was eight years old. I've always been physical. I really want to be strong. I still do love strength and anything that builds strength.

Speaker 3:

But whatever I would learn, I would always share it. And people would say you should be a therapist, you should be a counselor, because people would just randomly approach me and share stuff and I'd be amazed, like why are you telling me all of this? But at the same time, I would listen to them and I wouldn't judge. And when people say you should be a counselor, you should be a physical therapist, I'm like me, what?

Speaker 3:

But when I had that kundalini experience, it all just configured in my mind and I saw it away like yeah, but I didn't make a move to do anything until I. I had a freight brokerage uh, sometime around 2018 and I it was a, I worked from home and I it was a, I worked from home and I was doing good in it. But I hated the paperwork. It didn't resonate with my spiritual identity. It was just monotonous and boring and it was just all transactional. So I used to talk against it and I ended up pretty much manifesting it going out of business. So when it went out of business and my reserves start getting low, I'm like I got to get back out here and do something. I got to start another business because I'm not doing this anymore and I was sitting on my sofa and I asked myself more and I was sitting on my sofa and I asked myself what value do you have inside of you?

Speaker 3:

Because this business has to be you, all you. You don't need any training from anybody, it has to be you. And epiphany just stung me I'm going to do massages and I'm going to stretch people in my massages. Yes, yeah, nobody's doing that. That's what I said in 2019. And then I'm like, okay, I'm feeling good about that. I'm like, okay, what else can I offer? I got to have something else I love, to meditate, and I've led people in meditation. I've had some success with it. So I'm going to offer meditation too, and I'm going to offer the meditation along with the massage, so people can get a massage and have guided meditation during the massage.

Speaker 2:

It's a great comprehensive plan because I've seen stretching clinics. I actually was watching players before the baseball game and their physical therapist was stretching. I was like I need somebody to stretch me like that, and then you know, we know massage therapy, and then we. I think a lot of people tend to meditate at home on their own, but to be able to bring it all together for a comprehensive spiritual experience is a brilliant idea. So who are your target customers and how do you reach them? How do you find them?

Speaker 3:

Well, my target customers are high performers, athletes, people who carry a lot of stress due to their occupations. They could be in the medical industry, they could be attorneys, accountants. I have some government clients. People work for the government in different branches of the government, and they either find me organically from my website, word of mouth I do do some advertising from time to time. But, yeah, some advertising from time to time.

Speaker 3:

But yeah, and let's not forget the elders and people who've had car accidents and injuries, who tend to, after they've either been inactive for long periods of time and they've experienced some type of or level of muscle atrophy, they get stuck in a in a, in a mode of oh, I don't want to move here because it hurts, and they don't realize that moving through the pain, you know, is where they will experience recovery.

Speaker 3:

For sure. You have an accident and you know your body has been injured, muscles and tissues, joints have been damaged and it's weak. So, due to the weakness, you'll experience pain and movement, and some people are scared to re-injure themselves, right, because they don't know how to scientifically meth, you know, method out, method by way of a method. They don't know how to go about rehabbing it and moving through that pain surely and gingerly, yes, so that they will build the weakness into strength again. And so, when they come to see me for SLA massage, ask people so where are your pain points, where is your tension? And a person might say, oh, I had an accident last year and I have a lot of pain right here. And they tell me how it affects them.

Speaker 3:

Well, I zero in on that area and the massaging and stretching area, and the massaging and stretching teaches that area how to move again, and I may move a person's limb or body to where I find, where it hurts the most. I say now, when I move your arm or when I move your leg this way, let me know when you really feel that pain the most and then when I got them in that position, that's where I work, and when I get that pain relieved usually nine times out of 10, they'll walk out of here like wow, it's gone.

Speaker 2:

That's amazing. That's amazing. So what are some of the myths and misconceptions about what you do, your industry or what you do specifically?

Speaker 3:

Well, people tend to look at massage like it's more of a luxury and it's about petting. It's about what's that word pampering what's that word Pampering? And it is. It is, and you can get that in an SLA massage. But the thrust of what I specialize in is what the ancient cultures knew and different spiritual systems know that a person can achieve healing energetically, mentally, physically doing a massage. There's shamans who utilize massage to help people who are energetically and mentally and spiritually under the weather Right. Different cultures around the world Like you were talking about athletes they utilize massage so they can perform at the highest level. Yes, but see, that is the mainstream massage that can help people perform better or alleviate stress and tension, but SLA massage really turns you to operate at your best. It really is about evolving your abilities over time. Some people even say I feel like I've been working out.

Speaker 3:

So, go run. I want to go run it and of course, there are some people who I just want to go to sleep, because energy knows what it needs to do, and if you're somebody who needs to wind down, it helps you do that. If you're somebody who feels like you just always wound down, then you might experience an energy boost. When energy unlocks and starts to flow. Oh my God, energy knows what to do. So misconceptions are that massage is pretty much one dimensional, but it's multi-dimensional, especially when coming from someone who has a multi-dimensional interest in helping you who has a multi-dimensional interest in helping you.

Speaker 2:
