E73: The Awareness Studio: Transforming Dysfunctional Patterns into Healthy Relationships
Struggling with relationships? You're not alone. The Good Neighbor Podcast welcomes Patty Farinola, founder of The Awareness Studio, who transforms the way we think about connections with others.
Patty's journey from relationship chaos to expertise is both refreshing and inspiring. "I used to say I had a faulty partner picker," she reveals, sharing her history of a failed marriage and broken engagement before finding the knowledge she was missing. After years of therapy, workshops, and dedicated study, she not only found lasting love (celebrating 23 years with her husband) but developed a method to help others succeed where she once failed.
What makes Patty's approach revolutionary is her challenge to conventional wisdom. "Relationships make us stronger if we do them well, and our happiness comes from that strength, not from the relationship." This powerful distinction helps clients stop looking for happiness in others and start building it within themselves. She also dispels the myth that marriage marks the end of relationship work, explaining that real growth happens after saying "I do."
Whether you're single and searching, in a relationship that needs rejuvenation, or struggling with workplace connections, Patty's insight that "how we do one relationship is how we do all of them" offers a transformative perspective. Ready to rescue your relationships? The awareness you need might be closer than you think.
This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Millie M.
Speaker 2:I am your host, millie M, are you in need of relationship rescue? Well, it might be closer than you think. I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, patty Farinola, of the Awareness Studio. Hi Patty, how are of the Awareness Studio, hi Patty? How are you today? Hi Millie, happy to be here. Thank you, we're so excited to learn all about you and your business.
Speaker 1:Tell us more about the Awareness Studio. I specialize in helping people have healthy and happy relationships, whether it's in a single looking for love, couples in relationship wanting that to be happier and healthier, or even at work or with family.
Speaker 2:Well, how did you get into this business? What made you decide to go into this practice and specify relationships, in particular?
Speaker 1:I used to say I had a faulty partner picker, so I failed at relationships a lot. I had a failed marriage, a failed engagement, number of failures in between, and I knew there wasn't something wrong with me. I just knew there was something that I didn't know. I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and so I didn't do relationships very well. So I went to therapy for a number of years. I did a lot of workshops, I studied male-female relationships and I finally got it right. My husband and I celebrate 23 years this year and so I started.
Speaker 1:I know I started this practice teaching single women how not to be single anymore, and I was so successful. I ended up doing couples counseling as well, and I was so successful. I ended up doing couples counseling as well and then expanded into work relationships, especially because how we do one relationship is how we do all of them Right, and relationships, I think, are the most important thing we do in life and to get it right is just exquisite, so I want everybody to have that. That's how I got into this work.
Speaker 2:That's beautiful, inspiring. There's hope for me, after all. Absolutely so. What are some of the myths and misconceptions about your industry or what you do in particular?
Speaker 1:One thing that's a particular myth is that people think relationships are going to make them happy. Relationships make us stronger if we do them well, and our happiness comes from that strength, not from the relationship.
Speaker 2:Wonderful way to put it.
Speaker 1:So a lot of people are looking for happiness in all the wrong places. They're looking for love in all the wrong places and they're looking for happiness in all the wrong places. So I help reframe that. Another myth is that once you get into the marriage, there's no more work to do. On the contrary, once you get into the marriage, the work is supposed to be gone right.
Speaker 2:Definitely going into a different part of the work, for sure. That's true, awesome. So who are your target clients and how do you attract them?
