E81: The Mind-Body Connection: How Dr. Mike Heals Without Force

Milli M. & Dr. Mike Greenberg Episode 81

Discover the healing power of multidisciplinary healthcare as we sit down with Dr. Mike Greenberg of Advanced Medical and Chiropractic Services. Dr. Greenberg takes us on his journey from practicing in LA's Brentwood area to establishing a holistic healthcare center in Atlanta, where chiropractors work alongside naturopaths, homeopaths, and conventional medical practitioners.

What sets Dr. Greenberg apart is his gentle approach to chiropractic care. Forget the stereotypical "snap, crackle, pop" – he achieves remarkable results using non-force techniques, reflex points, and acupressure. "I've learned to adjust people without manipulation," he explains, making his treatments accessible to those who might be wary of traditional chiropractic methods.

The most compelling moment comes when Dr. Greenberg shares a powerful story about a patient with persistent knee pain that hadn't responded to three surgeries. Through what he describes as "spiritual hearing" or intuition, he uncovered childhood trauma as the root cause. When this emotional wound was addressed, the physical pain disappeared completely – a vivid illustration of the profound connection between our emotional and physical wellbeing. This case demonstrates why conventional approaches sometimes fall short: they address symptoms rather than underlying causes.

For listeners struggling with chronic pain or health issues that haven't responded to traditional treatments, Dr. Greenberg's practice offers hope and affordability. Initial visits cost just $90, with follow-ups at $50 – and he's extending a special offer to our podcast audience: mention this episode and receive your first visit at the follow-up rate. Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Millie.

Speaker 2:

M. Hello everybody and welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. I'm your host, millie M. Are you in need of a doctor that can get rid of your pain? Well, one might be closer than you think. I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, dr Mike Greenberg of Advanced Medical and Chiropractic Services. How are you, dr Mike?

Speaker 3:

I'm doing well, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. We are so excited to learn all about you and your business. Tell us about Advanced Medical and Chiropractic Services.

Speaker 3:

We have several practitioners. We have two chiropractors, have two chiropractors a naturopath, a homeopath and a physician's assistant. We had a medical doctor, but he last year moved to Florida, so we're looking for a medical practitioner.

Speaker 2:

So how do all of these different I guess specialties work together the homeopath and the chiropractor and how do you merge all of those specialties into one?

Speaker 3:

Well, mainly communication. We have somebody and a patient would get referred to somebody at the office and the practitioner will take care of that person and if they run into any difficulty then they can communicate to other practitioners. What do you think's going on here? What else could it be? Since nobody can do everything, it's real important for us to share.

Speaker 2:

It's the beauty of teamwork, for sure, and several minds are better than one in figuring things out as it pertains to someone's pain. So how did you get into this business? What made you think? You know what? I'm going to open a chiropractic office and hire all these different people to be involved.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's a long story, but I always wanted to help people, and maybe since I was five years old and I went to Temple University in Philly and I was studying psychology and a cousin of mine was studying chiropractic in California and he said it's really good. So I always wanted to go to California. So I decided to join him, became a chiropractor, I practiced for 20 years in LA Brentwood area and and my wife and I then decided we wanted to raise our kids in a more wholesome environment. So we chose Atlanta. And when I came to Atlanta, I, you know, I wanted to spend some time. And when I came to Atlanta, you know I wanted to spend some time.

Speaker 3:

And when I decided to go back to practice, I joined a medical facility and it was a holistic medical facility. It was a lady who did plastic, we had a couple of plastic surgeons, we had an acupuncturist, obgyn, and then I joined and one of the things I did was sometimes people react to medication or they react to the anesthesia, so I would treat them so they wouldn't have that reaction. And then after a while I said, okay, it's time to do my own thing. But I like that whole idea of the multidiscipline approach.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

And so when we opened up, the homeopath and I when we opened up, we brought in more people to offer a wider range.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, and I love how it's all natural chiropractic care and homeopath and, like all of that is kind of steering away from those traditional pharmaceuticals. So tell me, what are some myths or misconceptions about your industry or what you do in particular?

Speaker 3:

Well, people are very influenced by what they see on TV.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, and on the Internet now.

Speaker 3:

So on TV there's not much about chiropractic. So people are naturally skeptical. But it can get to the point where they just think it's a placebo. You know, with the joking around, hey, crack, pop this, that. And for me, whether what state I'm in or if I go abroad, when I work on somebody, I get similar results. So for me it's reproducible and that's the basis of the scientific method. So people don't realize it's it's. I mean, medicine itself is also an art and they always talk about the medications going through double blind. But surgery is all it's an art.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 3:

They don't do double blind studies on surgery.

Speaker 2:

Whereas what you do is definitely a science, if you can duplicate those results over and over again. And what I'm finding is that, talking to chiropractors again, I think the misconception is it's just for to pop my neck and pop my back. But I often forget that your nervous system is connected to your spine and it goes to so many other things. So if you're adjusted, you probably you know insomnia, digestive problems, adhd, like there's just so many things that can be corrected with some good adjustment. So we know marketing is at the heart of every business. So who are your target customers and how do you attract them?

Speaker 3:

Well, one of the things that I do is unique in treating pain because we know about chiropractic they're famous for the snap because we know about chiropractic.

Speaker 2:

They're famous for the snap crackle pop.

Speaker 3:

So I've learned to adjust people without manipulation. If somebody comes to me, I utilize non-force techniques, I use reflex points, acupressure, and I get similar results.

Speaker 3:

So with my approach is very gentle, a few months, a few years ago, excuse me a few years ago I had a lady, a young lady come to me and with knee pain and she had had three surgeries and still had knee pain and so in my examination of her hips, knees and ankles I noticed nothing really looked distorted. So I'm thinking so what could this be? And I have a high intuition and now I think of as spiritual hearing. Now that sounds woo woo, but being a woman you know you have intuition, you know it's real. So what came to me was that there was some kind of trauma when she was 8 years old. So I asked her about that and she said her uncle sexually molested her.

Speaker 2:

Oh goodness.

Speaker 3:

So I released her trauma and asked her to come back the following week to see where she was at. And when she came in she said the pain was gone. From releasing that trauma from when she was eight years old caused her.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, wow.

Speaker 3:

And that's why she didn't respond to the surgery, because that wasn't the cause, right?

Speaker 2:

Oh, my goodness. Well, here's the thing. Have you ever thought about doing your own podcast, like it just sounds like? You have a wealth of information, a wealth of stories. We talked about that misinformation that's on the Internet and you might be able to counter some of that. So has that ever been a thought? Not really. Well, I think you should, because I do, like I said, I think you have just so much that you can share with the world. So please just tell Dr Mike, our listeners, one thing that you would like for them to always remember about your practice.

Speaker 3:

Okay, well, you know, money's important and we are very affordable. The initial visit is $90 and the follow-up visits are $50. Oh, that's awesome. So I was going to say anybody that hears this podcast and wants to come see me, I will waive the initial fee and just charge them a regular office visit.

Speaker 2:

That's amazing. Thank you for that. I might come and see you.

Speaker 3:

That would be wonderful.

Speaker 2:

For that gentle adjustment. I would love that I might come and see you. That would be wonderful. For that gentle adjustment. I would love that Absolutely. So if someone has pain or trauma that they need to release from their body and they want to get in touch with you, how can they do that?
