Episode Description:

Welcome back to another life-transforming episode of Purpose Wednesday! [00:11] This week, host Latasha Morgan guides us into step four of completely shifting our worldview: Renewing Your Mind. [01:05]

Every step builds upon the last—from daily Bible study and deep meditation to applying biblical principles—but it all culminates in how we handle our thought life. [00:35] Latasha breaks down how easily a carnal, negative mindset can take over if we allow our past pain or assumptions about people to dictate our thoughts. [01:13]

If you are ready to be transformed rather than conformed to this world, tune in to learn how to actively combat negative, worldly thoughts and step into the true healing and deliverance God has waiting for you. [01:29]

Key Takeaways From This Episode:

Combating Negative Thoughts with Truth: Practical examples of how to take control of your inner narrative by answering lies of insecurity and weakness with the powerful promises of scripture. [01:42]

Following Jesus' Example: A deep dive into Matthew 4, looking at how Jesus countered every temptation and lie from the enemy in the wilderness by declaring, "It is written..." [02:57]

Adopting the Mind of Christ: Reflecting on Romans 12:2, Philippians 2:5, and John 1:1, Latasha reminds us that because Jesus is the Word made flesh, renewing our mind simply means filling our thoughts with Him. [04:00]

Stop letting negative thoughts dictate your perspective. Equip yourself with scripture, speak truth over your life, and let God change your worldview from the inside out! [04:46]

Hello there. I'm Latasha Morgan, Certified Christian Life Coach, Certified Professional Life Coach, Board Certified Master Christian Mental Health Coach, and a whole lot of other good, good, goodies, y'all. Yes, that day, that time of the week. You know what time it is? It's Purpose Wednesday, honey. Yes, it is. It's Purpose Wednesday. I've had an amazing day, and I pray that you have had an amazing day as well. Also, pray that every day to come is even greater and more amazing than the one before. Listen, honey, today we are still talking about how we can change our worldview so that we don't look at people based on the pain and the experiences we've had. We've already talked about step one, which is a good one. And it was great when we talked about it. Regular Bible study, because it's really important that you know the word, because if you don't know the word, you can't apply the word, right? So then we also talked about prayer and meditation. If you don't know the word, how you gonna pray the word, right? And how you're gonna meditate on it. So also, in order to change your word view, you gotta apply biblical principles. If you can't apply what you don't know, so that's all of these line up together. Next, guess what? Number four is renew your mind. Why do you need the word to renew your mind, right? In order for your view to change, and it's not based on your carnal mindset, on the mindset of this person did this to me, so that person probably is gonna do the same thing to me. Um, this person is like that, so that person is probably gonna be like that. Those are negative thoughts. You have to renew your mind. The Bible said, be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove it is a good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. Romans chapter 12, verse 2, the King James Version. When you're renewing your mind, you're gonna replace negative thoughts. How you do that? Well, you gotta combat negative and world with scripture, memorize verses, mm-hmm, so that you'll know how to speak the truth of God and his promises. How do you do that, Latasha? Well, let me. I'm glad you asked. Here's an example. Tasha, girl, you know you're ugly. No, the Bible says that I'm beautifully and fearfully and wonderfully made. Tasha, you're weak. No. The Bible says that the joy of the Lord is my strength. Tasha, I don't think you can do that. Well, the Bible says I could. God said I can. God told me to do it, but I don't know. That's too big for you. You you can't do that. No, the Bible says that I can do all things through Christ Jesus, who strengthens me. You're combating negative thoughts and applying the word of God, God's daily principles and promises to it. But you can't apply again what you don't know. Now, when I think about um applying the word of God to any negative thoughts, combating negative thoughts and anything that comes against me with the word of God, I think about Matthew chapter 4. You know, when Jesus is being tempted by Satan, you know, he Jesus does the very same thing. He does that, he applies the word of God to whatever Satan says. You know, Satan says, it is uh he says that um I command these stones be to be a bread. And Jesus said, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil says to him, He takes him on the pinnacle of the temple. And what does he say? He said, Cast yourself down. He says that God will give his angels charge concerning thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash your foot against a stone. Jesus said it is written, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. He is the example that we should live our lives by, right? He is the example of what our minds mind would be if we actually allowed it to be renewed and be transformed. Doesn't the scripture in Philippians chapter 2 verse 5 say? The King James Version Well says, Let this mind be in you which I was also in Christ Jesus. And isn't he the word? Doesn't the Bible say in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God, and John chapter 1, verse 14 says, and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Jesus is the word, so you gotta use the word to combat negative thoughts and worldly thoughts, okay? You have to use the word to change your worldview so that your worldview can be changed. And that you can and when you're being changed, guess what? You're gonna be healed to you're gonna be delivered, you're gonna be made free to see people the way God sees them. Alright. Have a nice night there, okay?
