When God Says “Wait,” He Is Not Withholding; He Is Preparing You For His Very Best
Do you want the very best of everything God has in store for you?
We explore how waiting is an act of faith, why courage is required to resist pressure, and how God uses timing to shape intimacy and clarity.
Psalm 27 guides our steps as we seek God's face, trust His promises, and follow His pace in both our projects and our lives.
I share the profound impact of seeking God, writing and meditating on His promises, and, most importantly, resisting the pressure of timelines and people. This resistance is a testament to your trust in God's plan, bringing strength and courage to wait for His perfect timing.
Receiving insight and discernment from God to stay in step with God.
Ultimately, you have God's best, and accounts of well-timed obedience, doors opening at the right time, and projects won bring a sense of joy and anticipation.
Continue seeking God's face to deepen intimacy, understand His ways, receive encouragement, and His very best for you and those involved in every circumstance.
Greetings, my friends. Tony Williams here. God loves us unconditionally. Wherever you are in the world, God wants you to hear this message. He loves you unconditionally, and he has the best in store for you. How do we do we receive God's best? We receive it by putting our faith and trust and belief in the promises that He's made to us. And then we wait for God. Waiting for God is the message for today. Waiting for God. Is there a promise that God has given you? Something that He's shown you in the Bible and through prayer and intimacy with Him that He's promised, I'm going to do this for you. I have a notebook. It's called The Promises of God to Me notebook. It's a simple one-spiral college notebook that I've taken the time, alone with God, to write down all the promises that God has specifically spoken to me in every area of my life. One of the things that God is teaching me, my friends, and I shared with you, is the importance of learning how to wait for God, waiting for God. Just this week, I had someone lovingly encourage me, why don't you just get started? You could have been finished that project by now. This person was very well-meaning, good intentions, but the thing that I had to ask myself, and I got alone with God prayerfully, Lord, am I in step with you? Sometimes, my friends, we set premature goals, not premature goals, but deadlines to reach the goals that God has helped us set. We sometimes put pressure on ourselves that God never intended for us to put on ourselves. We sometimes feel like time is slipping by and we need to get started. There'll be well-meaning people that will even say, you're wasting time, why don't you get started? But my friends, this is one thing that I've learned in the 44 years plus of walking with God. When he says wait, he always has something fantastic in store that he's preparing just for me in response to the promise that he's given me, that he can show that he loves me unconditionally. I have a big project that I've worked, I'm working on, and I have been seeking the Lord for a long time. The project is underway, but in the past weeks and months, God has told me, I want you to wait. The circumstances have indicated that God has me in a period of waiting. My friend contacts me and encourages me, move ahead. And I've had this happen to me before. I've had loving people who cared very much about me encourage me to move ahead. But when I ask God, Lord, am I in step with you? I hear God say to me, just like he said today, this morning, Psalm 27, 14, wait for the Lord. Be strong and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the Lord. Why do we need strength and courage to wait for God? Because circumstances and life and well-meaning people will force us to move ahead. And when we move ahead when God has not instructed us, we invite confusion, we invite setback, and we invite sometimes despair. But when we put our faith and trust in God, this is what he says in Psalm 27, 13. I would have despaired unless I had believed, believed, that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. When God's instructed me to wait in the past, my friend, I'm talking to someone in Asia right now. When God has instructed me to wait, God has always given me his very best. When I have moved ahead, I usually invite confusion and I delay time. Now God has me working on a very significant project, and I'm so excited, and he's promised me it's going to be a game changer worldwide. But he asked me in this point of waiting, why do you want me to wait? Because in the waiting, God continues to build my intimate relationship with him. Here's what he says in verse number eight of Psalm 27. When you said, God speaking, seek my face. My friend in Asia, God is saying, Seek my face. My heart said to you, Your face, O Lord, I shall seek. All around the world, on every continent, wherever this message is heard, God can speak specifically to you right now. That He's saying, I know where you are, I know the next step, and I know the perfect timing on which to take it. I want you to wait for me. So today's message is just for you. When we wait for God, we show God that I believe in you, Father God. I believe the promises you've made are going to come true and you will fulfill them at the perfect time. What are you waiting for God for, my friend? What do you sense God is saying to you right now? Don't rush ahead thinking you have to make things happen. Take time to be alone with your Father in heaven and ask him, Father God, am I in step with you? Lord Jesus, what would you have me to do next? And God will give you the instruction and counsel and guidance that you specifically need as you wait for him. So be encouraged, my friend. God sees you, and when you wait for God, you're waiting for the very best that only God can provide. Don't yield to temptation to rush ahead. And by the way, even if you have people that seem to be not moving ahead, ask yourself, ask God, Lord Jesus, give me discernment that I can see your timetable in that person's life, your timetable for that project. And by the way, Father God, what timetable do you have for me in my life? What things do you want me to wait for you on? What promises have you made? This is the beauty of an intimate relationship with God. All my messages are designed for one thing, that you would desire an intimate relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. And through that intimate relationship, God will give you everything your heart could desire that's in alignment with his will, plan, and purpose for you. And he will do it. The one who calls you is faithful, he will do it. So, my friends, be encouraged that God sees you and God says, wait for me. Take courage and be strong, and you will not be disappointed. God saves his very, very best for those who are willing to wait. And when he does, I waited patiently for the Lord, and this is what he did for me. He will give you a supernatural testimony that he wants you in turn to share with someone else, because your testimony triggers in them a desire to want to know the God to whom you pray, the God to whom you serve, the God to whom you're calling on, the God that you have an intimate relationship with. And all of a sudden, God is using you to impact many, many people all around the world for his glory and for his good. Here's an example. In 2016, I was working on the first message for Evergreen Leader Development Insights. It was a blog intended to encourage people in their relationship with God to get to know God. Here it is many, many years later, and God has continued over the seasons and years to say, Tony, wait for the next step. When I waited, God would open the door. And then he would say, Take the next step. And I waited, and God would open the door. All along the way, God has provided everything I needed at just the right time. And it's been wonderful and fantastic to watch. This is the Lord's doing, and it's marvelous in my eyes. Think about this. You're in Asia, Africa, Oceania, the United States, Europe, South America. God is blessing me to give you this word of encouragement. Father God, you're a wonderful God. Because, my friend, wherever they are in the world, you're speaking to them. You see them, you know them, and you're encouraging them, just like you encouraged me in Psalm 27 14. Wait for the Lord. Be strong. Let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the Lord. And you said to them, Seek my face. And when they hear you say, Seek my face, let them respond, Your face, O Lord, will I seek. In Jesus' name. Amen.
