One sentence can set the temperature of your whole day. We lean into a simple but confronting truth from Proverbs 18:21: death and life are in the power of the tongue, and our words produce fruit whether we mean them to or not. If you’ve ever blurted something out and thought, “I wish I could take that back,” this message gives you a practical way forward that starts before the words leave your mouth.

We talk about installing a “pause chip” a mental pause that helps us measure what we’re about to say, especially when we feel stressed, offended, or afraid. From there, we get specific about what “words of death” sound like (the constant negative verdicts we pronounce over ourselves and others) and how to replace them with life-giving speech that aligns with God’s Word. We also dig into why this matters for Christian leadership, family life, and personal growth: you create an environment with what you consistently speak.

You’ll hear a direct challenge around health language too: stop claiming suffering as “mine” and start confessing truth and promises, including 1 Peter 2:24. We also share how journaling and repeating Scripture over your goals keeps your vision alive over decades, with Psalm 35:27-28 as a guide for continual declaration and praise. We close by anchoring everything in Matthew 4:4 and the decision to live by every word that proceeds from God.

If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a review so more people can find this faith-based teaching on the power of words. What’s one life statement you’re choosing to say this week?

Welcome And A Word Of Encouragement

Tony

Greetings, my friends. Tony Williams here. Welcome to Cel D, Summit Evergreen, Leader Development Insights. I thank God for you. God sees you and God loves you unconditionally. And because of his great love, he's always giving us encouragement. Listen to this word of encouragement that he sends to you wherever you are in the world.

Death And Life In The Tongue

Tony

It says, the power of your words. The power of your words. Did you know that death and life are in the power of your words? Yes, they are. Listen to what the Bible says in Proverbs the 18th chapter, verse 21. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. You see, my friends, this is a tremendous truth that once you understand it, it will change how you talk. It will change what you say. Because once we understand that death and life are in our words, we then measure our words. We then put a pause on what we say. Before we speak, we put a pause, a mental pause that says, before I speak, I'm going to think about what I say. That's important.

The Pause Chip Before Speaking

Tony

I learned this principle almost a decade, no, no, maybe 25 years ago. I would be quick to speak. I thought I was quick-witted. And some people pride themselves on having a quick comeback, but that's a trap. And the Lord showed me, Tony, you have to be very careful what you say. So put a pause chip in your brain. A pause chip to me is I think before I speak. I don't just speak. And I don't do it all the time, but I try in the name of Jesus to practice it moment by moment, day by day. And here's why that's so important. And the Lord's revealed that to me now, decades later, how essential it is in this truth. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Have you ever said something you said, oh I wish I hadn't said that? You regretted it. But once it's said, you can't bring it back. So this is why we have to measure our words. Ask the Lord, Lord Jesus, put a pause chip in my brain that I think by the power of your Holy Spirit in me before I speak. And here's why that's so important. Because when you speak, you can speak life or you can speak death. You can speak life over your career. You can speak life over your family. You can speak life over whatever circumstance you're facing, because life and death are in the power of the tongue. Jesus modeled this for us. And I've been doing this now for I guess maybe three decades. Speaking the truth about the circumstance, not allowing me to speak negative about the circumstance. Here's an example. What does it look like, you may say? I'm glad you asked. I never get a break. It seems like I'm always getting sick this time of year. You know, he'll never amount to anything. He's just like, you know who. Those are words of death. And when you say they're out to get me, they don't want to promote me because. Those are words of death, and you do not

Words Shape Your Environment

Tony

want to speak them. Why? Because when you speak them, your words have life, and you create your environment by what you say. Get this truth, my brothers and my sisters. You create your environment by what you say. Why? Because once you have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ as your Savior and your Lord, a magnificent thing occurs. The Spirit of God comes to live on the inside of you. Understanding that reality is a magnificent truth. I was thinking this morning, alone with the Lord, I was saying, Lord, what is what is it do I enjoy most about my Christian life? First it occurred to me I enjoy the peace. Then I enjoy the prosperity. But then it occurred to me, what I enjoy most is knowing that the living God lives on the inside of me. When I said, yes, Jesus, I want you to be my savior and my Lord, immediately the Holy Spirit of God comes to live on the inside of me and you when you say, Jesus, I want you to be my savior and my Lord. Be my savior and my Lord. I believe in my heart and I confess with my mouth that you are Lord. You see, again, confess with your mouth. Your words, life and death, are in the power of the tongue. So, my friends, this is a tremendous truth that now that you know the truth, the truth will make you free and you're more powerful now than you've ever been before. You are being empowered by God to accomplish

Stop Speaking Death Over Health

Tony

the vision and the goals that He's helped you set. So speak the word of God, speak truth over your circumstances, speak the truth over your health. If you're experiencing health issue, don't say my sickness, don't say my arthritis, don't say my cancer. You see, when you say my, those words are saying, I receive this, I take this. And so you don't want to say that about anything that's negative. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, to steal your career, to steal your life, to steal your family, everything that God wants to give you. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. So we have to understand that Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly. So how do we obtain that? We speak the truth according to the word that God's given us in the authority of who lives on the inside of us. Woo! I thank God for you. This is a life-changing message. This is a powerful message that will change the trajectory of everything you do, my brothers and my sisters. Make a point today to say, Jesus, Holy Spirit in me, put a pause chip on my lips, on my tongue, that I speak only the truth, only the words you give me to speak for the rest of my life. When you start to operate that way, watch what's going to happen. You're going to create life in circumstances. Instead of speaking, I'm sick, in the name of Jesus, by his stripes I am healed. 1 Peter 2.24. In the name of Jesus, by his stripes, I am healed. In the name of Jesus. You speak the truth about whatever

Journaling Vision And Speaking Prosperity

Tony

circumstance. And here's another one. I've been keeping a journal since 1993. And this day, I, the Lord prompted me, go get your journal, Tony. I went to get my journal, volume 1, 1993. And I have all these pictures and images of visions that God gave me, of goals that He wanted me to set for myself. And this is what I note. There was a scripture, Psalm 35, verse 27 through 28, that I wrote on my vision paper, my vision board, my confidence in God page is what I call it. Psalm 35, verses 27 through 28. Again, it speaks to the words that we say. Let them say continually, the Lord be magnified, who delights in the prosperity of his servant. You see, God is magnified when he delights in your prosperity. And you have to say it. Let them say continually, the Lord be magnified, who delights in the prosperity of his servant. When you're successful, God wants you successful. God wants you prosperous, my friend. And that's what you have to proclaim. God wants me successful and God wants me prosperous. And he goes on to say in verse number 28, and my tongue shall declare, see the words you speak, your righteousness and your praise all day long. I wrote that volume 1, 1993, Wheel of Faith. Then I wrote it again, volume 24, 5-9, 2016. And I wrote it again, volume 50, May 13th, 2026. Why? Because I am speaking life over the vision that God's given me. I'm speaking life over the goals that God has helped me set. And this is what God is saying to you, my brother and my sister. Speak life. So from this day forward, in the name of Jesus, I declare that you will speak life and not death over your family, over your loved ones, over the work that God's given you, in the workplace where he has you, wherever he sends you, whatever the circumstance, speak the

Live By God’s Word And Pray

Tony

life. What is the life? The life is the word of God. Listen to what Jesus said to Satan when he tempted him to try to turn stones into bread. Jesus had not eaten for 40 days and 40 nights. But Jesus said to Satan, Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4, 4. Whoo! That's what we're gonna do. We're gonna live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. We speak because God's word is alive, it's active, sharper than any two-edged sword. And it always accomplishes what God sends it to do. So when we speak God's promises over our life and our career, they always accomplish what God sends them to do. And Father, I love you and I love my brothers and my sisters. Oh, thank you for giving us this truth. Let us operate in it and let us proclaim it and share it with our loved ones, our family and our clients and our colleagues and people we meet along the way, that they can walk in life and proclaim life in their circumstances and situations, in their environments, and even to generations yet unborn. In the name of Jesus, hallelujah! Amen. God bless you, brothers and sisters.
