Hosted by four lifelong friends—all raised in Kentucky and proud alumni of the University of Louisville—the show blends a Southern perspective with real, unfiltered takes on life. We talk sports, music, fatherhood, culture, and whatever else pops into our heads, always with humor, honesty, and a little edge.
From in-depth interviews with musicians, athletes, and local celebrities to laid-back conversations about family, growing up Southern, and navigating adulthood, Southern Hang feels like pulling up a chair and joining the conversation. In this episode of Southern Hang, the fellas are joined by special guest and resident music aficionado Chris Stackowicz to celebrate the career of Austin, Texas, legends Spoon. Known for their uncanny consistency (yes Craig, this is true!) over a 30-year span, the band has evolved from '90s indie-rock underdogs to being one of the most respected stalwarts in the game (yes Craig, also true!).
The crew takes a chronological stroll through the band’s impressive catalog, tracing their evolution from post-punk origins to indie darlings to, put simply, one of the best Rock and Roll bands in music.
Neil and Chris then full-on nerd out by drafting their favorite Spoon songs from each era, debating the hits versus the deep cuts. And, before they go, you know they have to hit on that legendary Spoon/Wolf Parade side project, Divine Fits!
We hope you enjoy this one as much as the guys did.
