The P-I-G: Stories of Life, Love, Loss & Legacy
Welcome to The P-I-G, a podcast where we explore life, love, loss, and legacy through real conversations and meaningful stories—with Purpose, Intention, and Gratitude.
Hosted by sisters, Kellie Straub and Erin Thomas, The P-I-G was born from the bond they shared with their late mother, Marsha—a woman whose life and love continue to inspire every story told. What began as a deeply personal project has since evolved into a growing legacy movement, including The Boxes, a developing film and television series inspired by the physical gifts their mother left behind—each one unwrapped at a defining life moment after her passing.
At its heart, The P-I-G is about what matters most: connection. It’s a warm, welcoming space for open and honest conversations about the things we all carry—and the stories that shape who we are.
While “loss” is often defined by death, our episodes explore a much broader truth: We grieve relationships, mobility, identity, careers, finances, health, pets, confidence, memory, belongings, faith—even entire versions of ourselves.
Through personal reflections, powerful guest interviews, and expert insights, each episode invites you to consider what it means to live fully, love deeply, grieve honestly, and leave a legacy that matters.
Whether you’re navigating a loss, rediscovering your voice, or simply craving deeper connection—you belong here.

After losing her to cancer and receiving the milestone boxes she prepared before she died, we launched The P-I-G to honor her legacy. But somewhere along the way, the baton was passed. The torch was lit. And this sister project evolved into a space for unboxing the experiences that shape us all.
The P-I-G stands for Purpose, Intention, and Gratitude—not as buzzwords, but as a way of living.

Some stories are too big for one lifetime. And this one? It started with a box. A literal box. A gift left by our mom, Marcia, who lived with fierce love, creative spirit, a deep sense of purpose, and a passion for storytelling through her career in public radio. She also happened to adore pigs. From figurines to stuffed toys and everything in between, she collected them with joy.
Erin:She was even born in the year of the pig. So when it came time to name this podcast a reflection of her life and goodbye story after battling cancer three times over 12 years, it felt only right to call it what it is: a tribute, a reclamation, a legacy. Welcome to the PIG, where purpose, intention, and gratitude guide the journey.
SPEAKER_01:What began as a way to honor her has become something so much bigger. We've reconnected as sisters, we've been cracked open in ways we never expected. And now the PIG is a space for sharing the stories that shape who we are, individually and collectively.
Erin:Because loss isn't just about saying goodbye. We lose jobs, finances, relationships, limbs, even versions of ourselves. And in those moments, we can let that loss define us or we can let it transform us. Here, we choose transformation through real, unfiltered conversations with each other, with guests, with you.
SPEAKER_01:And what we've learned along the way is this hearing the stories of others helps us create a more meaningful connection to our own. So whether you're grieving, growing, remembering, or rebuilding, there's something here for you.
Erin:Come laugh with us, cry with us, reflect with us. Because legacy isn't just what we leave behind. It's how we choose to live. Right now, moment to moment, experience to experience. And in the end, we realize the greatest gift our mother left us wasn't inside of the box. It was in each other. We're so glad you're here.
