Grapple City Rewind
Step into the time machine and rewind the glory (and the weirdness) of pro wrestling’s VHS era. Hosted by Bradley Palermo and Aaron Fink, Grapple City Rewind dives deep into classic pay-per-views from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s—unpacking everything from five-star classics to glitter botches, fake Diesels, and forgotten squash matches.
Each episode blends play-by-play recaps, backstage trivia, and plenty of sarcastic banter. Sometimes it’s reverence, sometimes it’s ridicule, but it’s always passionate. Whether we’re debating star ratings, laughing at signs, or reliving Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind, we’re here to remind you why you fell in love with wrestling in the first place.
We kick off every show with a look at today’s wrestling headlines, then rewind to the pay-per-views that shaped us as fans. Think of it as a tape-trading party with your loudest friends, only with better audio.

Low-Fat Chocolate Milk - WWE Survivor Series 2002
Step inside the Ruthless Aggression era as Bradley Palermo and Aaron Fink break down WWE Survivor Series 2002, live from Madison Square Garden. This show has everything: broom-based hardcore weapons, the debut of the Elimination Chamber, Victoria beating Trish with a fire extinguisher, Matt Hardy’s “low-fat chocolate milk” Matt Facts, and way too much Saliva… the band, not the bodily fluid (though honestly, there’s both).
Brad and Aaron compare the women’s wrestling landscape then vs. now, talk Big Show’s shock title win and Heyman’s inevitable betrayal, celebrate the SmackDown Six putting on a clinic, and relive Shawn Michaels returning with the most unfortunate bob haircut in WWE history.
Plus:
• Current product talk — John Cena’s IC title shocker, Sheamus’ case for Cena’s last match, Full Gear predictions, and Mercedes Moné’s 13-belt world tour.
• Why the Elimination Chamber looked insane in 2002.
• How many times can WWE force Saliva on the audience in one night? (Too many.)
Another chaotic, nostalgic, butt-rock-heavy trip through one of the most stacked cards of the early 2000s.

00:25.16
Aaron
The Grapple Gang, that's you. So without any further ado, let's cue that music.
00:30.44
Bradley Palermo
Hello and welcome to Grapple City Rewind, taking you all the way back to the iconic pay-per-views and television specials that shaped professional wrestling history.
00:45.93
Bradley Palermo
This week, we're going back to November 2002, 2020. two thousand two a little more ruthless aggression era to talk about survivor series of that year. We're going to talk about Eric Bischoff and how great he feels about himself.
01:01.31
Bradley Palermo
The introduction of the elimination chamber, women randomly making out on screen every once in a while for no apparent reason and saliva playing their hit single as many times as humanly possible in three hours and Butt rock, alt rock, rap rock, everything your little heart has ever desired for Aaron to pay me back for watching Clowns R Us versus The Royal Family last week.
01:30.34
Bradley Palermo
I'm Bradley Palermo, as always, here with, as always, Aaron Fink. And Aaron, before we get into the 2002 Survivor Series, survivor series Let's talk a little bit of current product.
01:42.17
Bradley Palermo
ah First thing that comes to my mind, and it maybe isn't the first thing on everyone's mind, but after all the buildup of Matt Cardona on the indies for the past five years, and we're just thinking, and his wife gets on WWE, and we're wondering when he comes back to WWE, like, how's it gonna be?
02:00.33
Bradley Palermo
What's going to happen? How is this going to rebranding of himself going to pay off? And then he comes back as Zack Ryder and he loses LA Knight.
02:09.40
Aaron
Yeah, I guess so.
02:09.42
Bradley Palermo
Do you feel like that was a little bit anticlimactic?
02:12.72
Aaron
I mean, it certainly wasn't who we thought that surprise was going to be, or or maybe not who I thought it was going to be. i was kind of riding the Joe Hendry train. um
02:22.94
Bradley Palermo
Right, me too, yeah.
02:24.09
Aaron
But I was definitely surprised. I was also surprised that, yeah, that they called him Zack Ryder and Matt Cardona. I actually... think I saw ah clip of an interview with Chris Van Vliet on my Instagram this morning where Chris was like, so you, you, uh, if you get the call, like, what what do you want to come back as? And he's like, honestly, I don't care. I got, I got, I got knee pads for both ready.
02:49.21
Aaron
So so you say he's such a, he's such a, like a businessman, you know, like very smart and thinks things through.
02:54.62
Bradley Palermo
Right.
02:56.30
Aaron
He's like, Obviously, I would prefer Matt Cardona because it's what I've you know made a name for ah or made a name with on the indies the last few years. And i and in his opinion, he felt like WWE wwe clearly didn't want Zack Ryder because they fired Zack Ryder.
03:11.80
Bradley Palermo
right
03:12.12
Aaron
But yeah, it was surprising. um i don't even i guess it was a little anticlimactic, especially because now i' I'm reading...
03:21.73
Aaron
that he hasn't even re-signed, that that that might have just been a one-off.
03:23.80
Bradley Palermo
ah Oh God,
03:26.23
Aaron
um So I don't know.
03:27.07
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
03:28.94
Aaron
I mean, obviously people were excited to see him. um He didn't get the biggest pop I've ever heard, but he got a good reaction and the crowd liked to chant woo ah during the match.
03:40.95
Bradley Palermo
yeah
03:42.73
Aaron
But yeah, I guess a little disappointing. I mean, if you think about it once I, once you know, it's him, it's kind of, it kind of makes sense that he wouldn't win because LA night is a bit more important to the WWE wwe than Matt Cardona is, but yeah, I guess,
03:56.95
Bradley Palermo
Right. But you just put him on something else, not this, to lose in a tournament to fight John Cena, whatever.
04:04.53
Aaron
I mean, I guess him, Cena and Ryder did have history.
04:04.57
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
04:07.57
Aaron
They were, ah think they were a tag team for a minute and then they had like a, a feud at some point. So, It kind of makes sense. I remember he Cena even called out Cardona in his Pipe Bomb 2.0 promo earlier in the year.
04:19.86
Bradley Palermo
He did. I do remember that. Yeah.
04:22.52
Aaron
So it makes sense, but yeah, it was underwhelming. I mean, I was happy for him, and I enjoyed the match for what it was, but yeah, i wasn't i mean i i I want surprises to be really exciting, not just like kind of exciting.
04:39.45
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, I just felt like I was waiting for the moment for him to come back and I thought maybe it would be like a really cool redemption story. i just thought losing the first match of a tournament situation was kind of anti-climatic, but you know I heard Sheamus on Busted Open this week on the the network.
04:52.17
Aaron
Yeah.
04:57.15
Bradley Palermo
I don't know which specific show, but he had a pretty compelling argument why he wants to win and the tournament and face John Cena for his final match.
05:05.70
Aaron
Okay.
05:08.11
Bradley Palermo
And normally I think of Sheamus as kind of just a guy that's been around forever and kind of like a mid-card banger guy you know i just entertain you in the middle of the of the event but nothing spectacular but he he's had all the titles except for the intercontinental title he's always chasing the icy title and he does have a long history of ah beating cena so obviously he has a physicality he says john cena's you know trying to
05:15.24
Aaron
Yeah.
05:23.04
Aaron
Oh,
05:27.02
Aaron
oh that's right.
05:37.97
Bradley Palermo
go light. He definitely doesn't want a Sheamus match. That's going to be too rough. And you know he had his argument. And it's kind of funny when you listen to an interview with someone because you're like, well, I didn't i didn't really see Sheamus as a possibility, but When I heard heard him talk, i was like, okay, you have a good you have a good argument. like i kind of want to I can't think of who else is really in there right now that I want to see, but I was surprised that Seamus kind of turned me as pro-Seamus on this thing.
06:05.12
Aaron
Yeah, he would be okay I mean, it kind of does that, that, Sheamus and Cena as Cena's last match maybe doesn't make a ton of sense to me. My guess at this point is that it's going to be somebody young who still has a bit to go in their career.
06:19.53
Aaron
And I'm pretty sure that there's still a match on Raw where we don't know one of the competitors. So my guess is that ends up being a younger person, whether that's like a brawn breaker or
06:26.69
Bradley Palermo
okay
06:34.50
Aaron
adam mysterio oh i guess we could talk about yeah mysterio versus cena from raw that was a pleasant surprise um and cena is now a grand slam champion for the first time in his career that was pretty wild what a crowd too yeah no it was the day after we spoke it was the monday night raw in boston
06:48.72
Bradley Palermo
We haven't spoken since then?
06:52.88
Bradley Palermo
Oh, shit. Yeah, and are we potentially having a Cena-DOM rematch for the IC belt back in...
07:01.44
Aaron
Maybe like through the title or through the tournament. I mean, like that, that it's an interesting theory at least.
07:05.11
Bradley Palermo
Well, Survivor Series...
07:07.52
Aaron
Oh, well that too. Yeah. I, I still feel like scene is going to be a part of the survivor series team now that that's the, and that's another thing that, that we were talking about and that we got some clarity on.
07:13.26
Bradley Palermo
We're in the...
07:17.37
Aaron
So it's C it's punk Cody, Jimmy and Jay. There's going to be a fifth person. Maybe the fifth person is Roman. I guess that would, yeah, you think so?
07:26.40
Bradley Palermo
Roman.
07:28.67
Bradley Palermo
I think so. Well, I think that you need to have the guy from 619, a Mysterio from San Diego at the San Diego Survivor Series in a singles match.
07:40.07
Bradley Palermo
What better way than to have him
07:42.16
Aaron
face Sina yeah that's true
07:42.05
Bradley Palermo
fight John Cena and take his title back that John Cena doesn't really need right now. um But I don't know. I mean, i I listen to people pitch these things and sometimes I start to believe they're real. And then I realize it's not announced and we don't really and we're only two weeks out from Survivor Series.
07:56.67
Bradley Palermo
We don't really know who's on there, but I'm
07:57.31
Aaron
yeah
08:00.53
Aaron
There was actually a bunch of good current product stuff. There were a lot of things on raw that were fun. Obviously the Sina Dom stuff and the fact that they were in Boston was, it was exciting us finding out the two war games matches, or at least the beginnings of them with a team punk against team vision.
08:17.99
Aaron
And then Rhea and her gals against Naya lash and the Kabuki warriors. So there's some,
08:25.81
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, they're pretending like Charlotte's not going to be on the team. They always do that. They pretend like someone's not going the team that's obviously going to be on the team.
08:32.12
Aaron
I just can't. I just can't. I can't put my bullshit aside.
08:34.34
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. ah Some of the girls' dialogue is rough. The acting with the women is sometimes just like the dumbest lines. But, you know, it's it's a really good women's division regardless.
08:47.16
Aaron
Yeah, definitely.
08:47.32
Bradley Palermo
though The match will be good. What do you think about...
08:49.70
Aaron
um
08:50.41
Bradley Palermo
Oh, go ahead.
08:51.46
Aaron
now you go.
08:52.26
Bradley Palermo
What do you think about switching to AEW full gears coming up this weekend? And I, you know, they always have a ton of matches and I haven't looked at the entire card, but so Mercedes Monet now has 13 titles, I believe.
08:56.44
Aaron
Yeah.
09:06.16
Aaron
Ultimo Monet.
09:06.27
Bradley Palermo
And, and she's going for the AEW women's title against, against Chris Statlander.
09:06.90
Aaron
Yeah.
09:11.83
Aaron
yeah
09:15.91
Bradley Palermo
And, and, I'm just thinking like, first of all, who do you think is going to win? And second, Once this unravels and Mercedes loses this gimmick of collecting indie titles, she has to go back to 12 different like shit towns and just lose over and over and over.
09:30.36
Aaron
And lose them all.
09:33.15
Bradley Palermo
Like she has to drop the belt back to it's going to take, you know, a good, how many weekends is it?
09:34.93
Aaron
Yeah.
09:38.45
Bradley Palermo
Three months of like every Saturday.
09:39.83
Aaron
Yeah.
09:40.87
Bradley Palermo
Like what the fuck? Like, how are they going to get these titles back? And, and is she going to win the women's world title?
09:48.15
Aaron
I think she might. um i would it At this point, i don't think it makes sense for her not to win because if you're going to do this gimmick, you might as well do it all the way.
09:56.83
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. Right.
10:00.94
Aaron
um i i'm kind of bummed that that means that Statlander won't have a very lengthy title reign, um but it makes the most sense.
10:09.44
Bradley Palermo
right
10:12.25
Aaron
And then, yeah, like as far as Mercedes eventually dropping everything. That's going to be pretty wild because most of them are not even in the country. Like they're like Polish and Germany and the Netherlands and UK and all of these different, like she's going to just go to Europe for like a a month and then just drop them all.
10:32.33
Bradley Palermo
Just drop them all to someone who's just doing this as like a side gig on the weekends.
10:33.47
Aaron
Yeah.
10:38.43
Bradley Palermo
You know, you have to lose back to all these like indie fools. And i think that's pretty funny.
10:41.89
Aaron
Yeah.
10:44.79
Bradley Palermo
It's like, I think at one time, didn't FTR have, well, it was only like three titles or something, but it was like, I believe point.
10:50.86
Aaron
Yeah, they had ah had the the Ring of Honor, and the IWGP, I think. Oh, yeah, no, yeah, that you're right. Yeah, they they had a ah good amount at once.
11:03.07
Aaron
um I don't know. You know,
11:04.92
Bradley Palermo
But when they lost the AEW title, then they went to and went to everybody in law and got booked to lose.
11:07.93
Aaron
and lost everything else, yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
11:11.69
Bradley Palermo
And I just think it's cool to get booked to lose. like through Okay, I got to lose like three of these titles.
11:17.78
Aaron
She's going to have to lose 12 times.
11:17.72
Bradley Palermo
But 13?
11:19.34
Aaron
Yeah.
11:19.81
Bradley Palermo
I mean, she has 13.
11:20.26
Aaron
but
11:21.25
Bradley Palermo
One of them is a TBS. So it's just at least you can be on your own company for that one. Yeah.
11:26.65
Aaron
She's got a ring of honor one too. I'm pretty sure.
11:28.57
Bradley Palermo
Oh, okay. So a few of them you can you can just lose going to work, but those Ireland ones or whatever the fuck she's doing, is that's funny.
11:32.48
Aaron
Yeah. ah
11:36.25
Aaron
She's going to have to make a journey. Yeah.
11:37.79
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
11:38.17
Aaron
Did you, what'd you think of the women's blood and guts match? I thought I was pretty fun.
11:43.23
Bradley Palermo
that was That was really good. i didn't really need a men's blood and guts match after I watched AEW women's blood and guts s match.
11:47.98
Aaron
After that, yeah.
11:50.44
Bradley Palermo
That was plenty.
11:51.02
Aaron
I agree.
11:51.81
Bradley Palermo
It's probably the best thing on the show long, but it was good. A A few years ago, they had nothing to really write home about by way of like women's division, but now...
12:02.11
Aaron
and
12:02.96
Bradley Palermo
have a really good women's division yeah they are stacked and i didn't really the only thing i didn't really love was i don't feel like you should put your world champion in a like a 10 person match i think you should save your champion like you should have saved chris as like no like i just so like i defend this title i'm not gonna go get injured with all these other jabronis but
12:03.47
Aaron
They're stacked. Yeah.
12:15.29
Aaron
Yeah.
12:22.50
Aaron
I
12:25.70
Aaron
i agree.
12:26.55
Bradley Palermo
but they put the champion right in there. And I feel like that kind of diminishes her run a little bit. But other than that, the shit, there's just a lot of tax, lot of blood, a lot of shenanigans.
12:37.07
Aaron
Yeah, i I liked how they had feuds inside of the match.
12:37.04
Bradley Palermo
I don't know.
12:40.59
Aaron
like Obviously, Statlander was there because Mercedes was on the other team, and then like Jamie Hayter was in there because she's been feuding with the Triangle of Madness.
12:50.39
Aaron
and So like everybody had their little there are little trifles going on, and I thought it ended up making for a really entertaining match. and i also enjoyed that the end of it actually... like had a little bit of emotion and like a little bit of story, essentially, you know, if you've been paying attention, you know, that Tony storm and Mina Shirakawa have been good friends and sometimes they like to make out for a minute and whatever.
13:16.71
Aaron
But so, you know, the way they,
13:17.72
Bradley Palermo
They're in a relationship on the, in the NAW, I believe. I think they're together. thought they were like married.
13:25.38
Aaron
who's, who's to say,
13:25.31
Bradley Palermo
I think she calls her her wife on camera. ah She's, she's Tony is married to Juice Robinson in real life, but.
13:32.10
Aaron
Yes, which I think is kind of hilarious because if Juice is anything like he is AEW in real life, it's probably ah ah crazy marriage that those two have.
13:41.84
Bradley Palermo
yeah That's a funny couple of people. Yeah.
13:44.42
Aaron
Yeah.
13:44.28
Bradley Palermo
Put together.
13:44.82
Aaron
So, so yeah, I just liked that at the end, you know, it was just like, it was very sports entertainment-y, like, you know, your best friend getting the shit kicked out of her, like by being whipped with a giant championship belt and you having to watch and and quitting that way.
14:00.87
Aaron
It felt like a, like a dusty roads kind of thing.
14:01.21
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. Yeah, that was a creative way to finish it.
14:05.52
Aaron
Yeah. So lots of good, uh, current product stuff.
14:11.54
Bradley Palermo
me try that again.
14:17.63
Aaron
All right, we're here to talk about WWE Survivor Series in Madison Square Garden. We have ah Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler as the Raw commentators. We have Michael Cole and Taz as the SmackDown commentators.
14:34.51
Aaron
And let's see the attendance, 17,930. Nice big crowd. And as Brad mentioned, the Attitude Era is over. This is the period of time referred to as the Ruthless Aggression Era.
14:47.38
Aaron
um For those of you that follow us episode to episode, this is just a month after No Mercy 2002, which we covered in episode 24. And while there aren't exactly feuds from that pay-per-view bleeding over into this, continuing directly, there is a very natural progression in what's happening from from that show to this one.
15:09.77
Aaron
um So the first match of the evening a... a elimination tables match with Jeff Hardy teaming with Bubba Ray and Spike Dudley against three minute warning who is comprised of Rosie and Jamal. Rosie is a Roman reigns brother who unfortunately passed away.
15:28.48
Aaron
And then Jamal is also known as Umaga who has also passed away. And then their partner was Rico who I have never heard of.
15:37.53
Bradley Palermo
I did not realize Roman Reigns had a wrestling brother. That's interesting.
15:41.03
Aaron
Yeah, he did.
15:41.56
Bradley Palermo
It doesn't surprise me because the Samoan family is very prolific, but...
15:46.07
Aaron
Yeah, he is he is an Anawaii, Rosie, and was a good friend, you know, obviously was like best friends with Roman. In the documentary that Roman, they came out with for Roman, he talks about him a pretty decent amount.
15:59.65
Bradley Palermo
I wonder what Spike Dudley is up to now.
16:00.18
Aaron
Yeah.
16:02.11
Bradley Palermo
You never hear about that guy.
16:03.93
Aaron
I think he just does signings and appearances at cons and things. He also was, ah he showed up at the last table match in TNA for like two minutes.
16:13.76
Bradley Palermo
I see.
16:14.76
Aaron
Anyway, this match was fun. It was like a car crash, lots of things happening at once. um Spike, as usual, just gets thrown around because he's like 140 pounds wet.
16:26.92
Aaron
And he was eliminated first. He went through a table like face first, which was pretty gnarly. um And, you know, Rosie and Jamal are huge Samoans, like each over 300 pounds.
16:39.70
Aaron
So um they they had their way with Spike pretty quickly. And...
16:43.22
Bradley Palermo
I feel like this this tag team three-minute warning is the most ridiculous-looking tag team I've ever seen.
16:43.91
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
16:53.16
Aaron
How so?
16:52.98
Bradley Palermo
So yeah you have like a fat guy with a ponytail and a goatee wearing like shorts and a tie-dye baseball shirt next to a skinny guy in sparkly pants with huge black mutton chops and then this like dreadlock Samoan looking dude with like a black guy's name Jamal no Samoan has ever had the name Jamal I'm pretty sure and you put them all together and I'm like how did these guys even fit how do these guys even fit together they make Bubba look fucking small like these dudes yeah mm-hmm
17:22.43
Aaron
it was pretty random pairing they do which is pretty impressive because Bubba's not a small guy um Yeah, you know, like I said, it was a tables match. So the object of a tables match when it's a six man tag is you have to get all three of them through the tables. But what was a little bit different about this one from, say, the tables match that we watched at Royal Rumble 2000 was this was an elimination tables match. So once somebody goes through a table, they're just out of the match and they they can't participate. So that's why.
17:53.89
Aaron
when Spike goes through the table face first, it becomes three on two for a few minutes and he just leaves.
17:58.76
Bradley Palermo
But it's like, there's no DQ DQ, but there's an elimination. Like what makes you really have to leave the match?
18:03.15
Aaron
and
18:05.12
Bradley Palermo
Why can't you just stay and help?
18:05.85
Aaron
Well, yeah, that's very true because, uh, you know, the match progresses. Um, Jeff Hardy hit Rosie with a swanton bomb through a table, like doing his jump off of the concourse thing, like he did at the Royal rumble 2000.
18:18.11
Bradley Palermo
Right.
18:19.38
Aaron
And, um, um, and um Rosie ends up coming back later in the match even though he's eliminated. So, you know, you're very right. there were There were no rules, but there were some rules, but then they didn't really obey the rules except when it was convenient for the match.
18:35.74
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, I thought the rules of this match were clunky, and I was kind of confused. it was just like, what is going And then Devon comes out. I'm like, wait, Devon wasn't in the Dudley Brothers or Dudley Boys?
18:46.23
Bradley Palermo
And then, oh, no, he's not on the right brand, so he's not supposed to be in this match, which I also hate the severity of the brand split on this.
18:49.47
Aaron
Yeah.
18:52.19
Aaron
Yeah, the brand split. I remember hearing about this from Bubba, or Bully, on Busted Open.
18:55.17
Bradley Palermo
I hate
19:00.18
Aaron
he He said that, I guess, Vince thought that they had done it all and that they were you know there was nothing else to do with the Dudleys anymore, so they decided to split them up with the brand split as the reason why.
19:13.30
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
19:13.62
Aaron
um and obviously, you can tell based on the reaction of the crowd when Devon shows up to help Bubba, that nobody wanted them to be broken up. The Dudleys are the Dudleys, and you want to see them together, you want to see them put people through tables, you know?
19:26.12
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, my brain was like, wait, Devon's not here? i i thought he was. I thought I saw the Dudley. And then, oh, yeah, i guess so like I guess he wasn't here.
19:32.57
Aaron
Yeah.
19:33.87
Bradley Palermo
Because sometimes and in Dudley boys matches, you know you're looking at Bubba for a while before you know if Devon tags in or whatever.
19:42.15
Aaron
Yeah.
19:42.47
Bradley Palermo
I was kind of surprised. was like, oh, he's showing up. Wait, where was he the rest of the time? And then it's also interesting to hear... J.R. calling for D.Vaughn now that we know that, like we mentioned last episode, that D.Vaughn has now stated his experiences with racism and J.R.
19:59.53
Bradley Palermo
So that kind of put a different twist on that for me.
20:01.96
Aaron
Yeah, I mean, splitting them up was clearly a dumb idea in hindsight. um I will...
20:06.73
Bradley Palermo
My exact notes were real dumb.
20:09.76
Aaron
Yeah...
20:09.76
Bradley Palermo
D.Vaughn split up. D.Vaughn and D.Vaughn were on separate brands. Real dumb.
20:15.64
Aaron
Yeah, but I mean, you know, the pop was pretty big because it was a surprise. So I don't i doubt that they were they did all this just to create this moment, but they they made a good moment out of...
20:23.79
Bradley Palermo
Right.
20:25.64
Aaron
They made chicken salad out of chicken shit, as they like to say in the wrestling biz. So um I'll get to the finish... ah Bubba manages to get Jamal through a table via a powerbomb from the top rope.
20:36.97
Aaron
It's just Rico and Bubba at this point. um Jeff, I forget how he got eliminated. i think Jamal hit him with a big splash or something. And so it's Rico versus Bubba, but then Rosie and Jamal come back in to interfere. That's when Devon shows up and helps Bubba.
20:50.94
Aaron
They put Rico through a table with the 3D. And so Jeff Hardy, Bubba Ray, and Spike Dudley win.
20:57.64
Bradley Palermo
And the Wrestling Observer Newsletter back then gave that two and three quarters of a star for a 13-minute, four-second tables match.
21:04.38
Aaron
Two and three quarters, okay.
21:09.22
Bradley Palermo
And then, speaking of shit, we got Saliva's first performance. Saliva, the rap rock whiskey tango band.
21:17.82
Aaron
Are they rad, though?
21:20.06
Bradley Palermo
Whatever they are, it is so trash.
21:20.40
Aaron
They're not, they're just like, they're just like, yeah, alt, alt, yeah, I don't know what they are.
21:22.53
Bradley Palermo
It is so trailer. It is so white trash.
21:29.18
Aaron
I want to Google what they are.
21:29.27
Bradley Palermo
Stacey Keebler introduces saliva with her pants subpubic bone like like we've noticed in other episodes.
21:38.68
Bradley Palermo
The guitarists of saliva ah guitarist in saliva has his guitar strap around his knees.
21:39.50
Aaron
New metal post-grunge.
21:46.82
Bradley Palermo
Some real dork shit. um So many goatees. This era, I feel like, is not my era. It makes me feel... embarrassed to like wrestling wwe wwe had plenty of opportunities to get any kind of great music 2002 was a great year for all kinds of cool music i mean you could have had the fucking strokes or whatever but you had saliva and uh you know sometimes you just drink too much mountain dew and this is what happens you know i
22:15.69
Aaron
Mountain Dew's delicious. There's orange juice in there.
22:17.94
Bradley Palermo
I drink Mountain Dew while we do this podcast often. i like my diet Mountain Dew. It is often referred to as hillbilly piss or Hoosier juice.
22:24.62
Aaron
i mean, obviously this... Yeah, well, yeah.
22:28.92
Bradley Palermo
And...
22:29.62
Aaron
this This performance was bad, I'll agree. It didn't do anything for me. I understand at the time that they were popular with the w WWE crowd, but yeah, I didn't i didn't need to hear...
22:40.21
Aaron
Always, always, always. Like for three hours. That was pretty obnoxious.
22:44.14
Bradley Palermo
it was It was the entire time, yeah.
22:46.15
Aaron
It was always obnoxious.
22:47.79
Bradley Palermo
And this isn't the first performance we'll see from them tonight. But but then we get into the second match, finally. It's the WWE Cruiser Championship. Jamie Noble with Nydia versus Billy Kidman. And Jamie Noble and Nydia are perfect for a saliva concert.
23:04.40
Bradley Palermo
They're very trashy folks and ripped up jeans.
23:05.29
Aaron
Yep.
23:09.16
Bradley Palermo
Excuse me, ripped up jean shorts.
23:09.92
Aaron
they They live in a single wide, according to JR.
23:13.39
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, this is super. This whole, I mean, this is super trailer so far. This is one of the only singles matches. This is the only men's single match on the entire card.
23:23.17
Bradley Palermo
I'm a big fan of singles matches.
23:24.43
Aaron
No, that's not true. There's one more, but it's just very fast.
23:27.98
Bradley Palermo
Oh, it's it's the only.
23:28.82
Aaron
Big Show and Lesnar.
23:30.08
Bradley Palermo
Oh, there is. Oh, shit.
23:31.46
Aaron
Yeah. Yeah.
23:31.86
Bradley Palermo
Okay, cool. um So, yeah, the commentary switches on this one to Michael Cole and Taz.
23:39.57
Aaron
Yes, Cruiserweights exclusively on SmackDown.
23:40.63
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, I can't stand them switching commentary tables. Shit drives me fucking nuts. um There's some cool moves, though, of course. You know, cruiserweight matches always have cool moves.
23:50.10
Aaron
Yeah, I like Kidman. I remember him from WCW. I enjoyed him back then. i think he was part of Raven's group for a while. I don't think that he really amounted to all that much in WWE as a wrestler, um but he's still there. Now he's working as a producer slash agent, and I think he might be the one that times out the show now.
24:09.46
Aaron
So, you know, he's he's important and obviously is a very talented dude.
24:14.23
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, Kidman is the challenger. Jamie Noble is the cruiserweight champion in this. And the story behind it is that Kidman beaten Noble twice. So he's challenging for the title.
24:26.34
Bradley Palermo
Noble can't beat him.
24:28.11
Aaron
yeah
24:27.92
Bradley Palermo
Looks like he's probably going to win. In this match, he does win. And now he's beaten Noble three times, which is... Not a lot of room left for a feud at that point.
24:38.27
Bradley Palermo
If you just put someone down three times in a row, it's kind of done.
24:38.92
Aaron
no
24:41.79
Aaron
Yeah, I would think so. I thought this one was good. i really enjoyed Kidman's offense. I feel like he's got a very exciting move set. I felt like the match had really good flow. It obviously was not all that different from the last Jamie Noble match that we saw at No Mercy against Tajiri, but I actually felt like this one was a bit smoother.
25:01.90
Aaron
You know, um so yeah, I liked it it. It had a good flow. It increased in intensity as time went on. The moves became bigger and more desperate. um And Kidman won with a shooting star press, which is always fun to see when you don't botch it like Lesnar.
25:16.36
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. And Meltzer from the <unk> Wrestling Observer Newsletter. You guys know who Dave Meltzer is. i don't have to say it every time.
25:23.58
Aaron
We talk about him every week.
25:23.87
Bradley Palermo
yeah this Gave this one a full three stars, which is pretty high regards for his rating. um
25:31.73
Aaron
Oh, yes.
25:31.52
Bradley Palermo
For his rating system, I think. So and we got a back we got some backstage stuff, promos.
25:33.31
Aaron
Oh, yes.
25:36.66
Bradley Palermo
We got a lot of backstage promos.
25:38.57
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
25:38.68
Bradley Palermo
in this in this the style of this pay-per-view is very heavy on flipping back and forth to these guys and these guys and these commentaries and those commentary tables and so then we get so this we got two in a row we got before the next match we have a angle and benoit promo they have a weird rapport it's kind of It kind of reminds me of how Randy Orton and Riddle related to each other where they're a tag team.
26:06.43
Bradley Palermo
They don't really get along. They're not sure if they like each other. And Kurt Angle is sort of the needy one. And,
26:12.08
Aaron
And then was the murdery one.
26:11.93
Bradley Palermo
And Benoit is weary and angry and Benoit's acting is just so bad. I mean, he's he's just kind of like we've said a million times. He's a scary dude.
26:22.43
Bradley Palermo
He's good in the ring, but I don't think him acting out lines was probably a great spot to be in.
26:29.66
Aaron
No. And, you know, they won the, they won the tag team championships in the no mercy a month ago, a month prior to this. And I guess since then they had lost them.
26:39.89
Aaron
So they kind of turned on each other when they lost them and they were having their own little mini feud. And I guess they decided to put that aside for this match that they're going to have later on. Um, I will say after we got the angle and Benoit in the back thing,
26:56.29
Aaron
They cut to Chris Jericho for a few seconds. His goatee was the worst thing I've ever seen. He looked like a fucking billy goat.
27:02.60
Bradley Palermo
yeah and
27:04.56
Aaron
It was I laughed so hard. I wrote ha ha ha ha ha ha in in my notes because I was just dying at how horrible it looked.
27:12.28
Bradley Palermo
goatees are such a weird thing that gen x was so into and they still have them these gen xer dudes they still rock the goatees but it was a big thing you're you're good like i want a beard but only like in the middle of my face weird um
27:27.55
Aaron
I want to go tea but I don't really, i want a beard, but I don't have to, I don't want to have to do very much.
27:31.88
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
27:32.16
Aaron
and just, just wanted to be right here.
27:34.26
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. And then I'm still, I still want to have to shave every day, but also have a beard. I don't get it. So then there's the hidden camera angle of Victoria. And I remember like the internet would have these weird videos that would pop up of,
27:48.27
Bradley Palermo
hidden camera voyeur like as if you know it'd be fake back then but it'd be like some porno type shit you know from a weird corner high in the ceiling and somebody like people on the early internet would kind of be like oh you can just watch me live my life with these shitty cameras and corn they were kind of doing that sort of thing in victoria's dressing room and she's breaking a bunch of mirrors and
28:05.05
Aaron
Yeah. was like a real world thing almost.
28:11.58
Aaron
She's a little cray cray.
28:11.55
Bradley Palermo
I don't know. They're talking about the next match, which is going to be Trish Stratus versus Victoria. and Jerry Lawler's watching this hidden cam. and he like They say anything goes. I just hope it's close. So Jerry Lawler's kind of hornballing it up.
28:22.63
Aaron
Being a perv. Yeah. and Yeah. But this, this was for the women's championship.
28:26.41
Bradley Palermo
Did I lose you? I lost you.
28:28.53
Aaron
Oh, what's up? You lost me.
00:00.35
Aaron
OK.
00:00.64
Bradley Palermo
And then we got into the third match, which was the WWE wwe women's championship, hardcore rules, Trish Stratus champion versus Victoria.
00:09.46
Bradley Palermo
You could bring any weapon you wanted into this match, but they chose to have the women of all the violent things we've seen in WWE bring a broom.
00:12.47
Aaron
Yep.
00:20.78
Aaron
Yep, there was a broom.
00:21.14
Bradley Palermo
An ironing board.
00:22.87
Aaron
Yep.
00:23.28
Bradley Palermo
I mean, this shit is pretty fucking insulting.
00:23.43
Aaron
Pretty bad.
00:25.94
Bradley Palermo
What'd you think of this match?
00:26.21
Aaron
The video package too, I thought was pretty funny. Like the, the music was like so intense and they were trying to paint Victoria as being like mentally unbalanced. I think J.R. called her a vindictive Vixen.
00:38.47
Aaron
Um,
00:38.95
Bradley Palermo
In that video package, they also talked about how they both have pretty little puppies. And I've never heard of breasts being referred to as puppies, I don't think, in my life.
00:50.11
Bradley Palermo
I hear Jerry Lawler say it a lot in WWF, WWE.
00:50.32
Aaron
except for in the WWF.
00:54.66
Bradley Palermo
They do this puppies thing. It's so fucking creepy, man.
00:59.86
Aaron
Uh, yeah, this match, they, they, like you said, variety of different weapons, um, that though it was kind of weird. They didn't actually bring any weapons out. They were all in trash cans that were tied to the corners of the ring.
01:13.09
Aaron
So they just picked up whatever was in there and used it. Um, it It was not my favorite match, certainly. i did laugh at ah one line that Jerry Lawler had, which was offensive but hilarious. The last time Victoria was whistled at was right before a train hit her.
01:31.60
Bradley Palermo
All right, that's pretty good. That's a good one to catch that.
01:34.47
Aaron
Yeah.
01:35.16
Bradley Palermo
I feel like... I mean, I got to give it to Chris... Not Chris. To Trish Stratus. She...
01:41.18
Aaron
She was a wrestler.
01:41.14
Bradley Palermo
does she's a she's a good she's a great wrestler and and she has talent and also she does look just as good as she did 25 years ago now at age almost 50 years old so pretty crazy for i know she's big into like fitness and yoga instruction and stuff but
01:44.99
Aaron
Yeah.
01:53.67
Aaron
Yeah, which is wild.
02:01.59
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, man. I mean, 25 and 50, it doesn't matter. She can still go. She still looks good.
02:08.11
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
02:08.22
Bradley Palermo
But it's still kind of awful to see her in a match where she's forced to like choose between an ironing board and a broom. There was a fire extinguisher, though, which eventually was Trish's undoing.
02:20.84
Bradley Palermo
Victoria snuck a win with a fire extinguisher shot.
02:21.43
Aaron
Yes.
02:24.35
Bradley Palermo
And I didn't expect it, but we got a new champion out of it. Victoria beat Trish Stratus.
02:29.48
Aaron
Yeah. You know, again, ah vast improvement from other women's matches that we've seen in years before this, but that this was, i actually think the one and no mercy was much better if I remember correctly.
02:42.21
Bradley Palermo
Better, yeah.
02:43.26
Aaron
Yeah. And it was the same. I think it was Trish and Victoria. at no mercy as well. And and it just, i don't know, this one just felt like, okay, let's do a hardcore match, but let's not really do a hardcore match.
03:07.21
Bradley Palermo
Right.
03:09.50
Bradley Palermo
Because we're in an era now where we see women just fuck each other up. And there's so much blood AEW's blood and guts match with five on five on the women or was it six on six?
03:14.46
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
03:21.33
Bradley Palermo
I don't know. but
03:22.11
Aaron
Yeah.
03:22.64
Bradley Palermo
And we we obviously in WWE wwe's side, we see
03:23.06
Aaron
Six on six.
03:25.85
Aaron
Just like technical mastery with the women like and Mia Ripley and EO sky and Oscar.
03:28.42
Bradley Palermo
just amazing wrestlers. Yeah. Yeah.
03:32.22
Aaron
Yeah. I mean, it's.
03:33.03
Bradley Palermo
And these girls are real wrestlers that can, that could hang today. Trish still does, but, but it's still crazy.
03:40.12
Aaron
They just weren't given the time and they, and they, yeah, it it just, I'm glad that it's not like this anymore. Um, so we had some more promos in the back.
03:49.94
Aaron
Coach had, oh, two stars.
03:50.16
Bradley Palermo
Two stars. Sorry.
03:52.30
Aaron
Yeah.
03:52.47
Bradley Palermo
Two stars.
03:52.79
Aaron
That, that tracks coach was in the back talking to Bischoff, uh, and big show or Bischoff first. And then big show came up and talk some shit to Bischoff. And, um, if you remember from no mercy, they were having a little spat backstage too, I guess,
04:06.80
Aaron
Big Show was on Raw and has since jumped to SmackDown, and that has allowed him to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE wwe Championship. ah We see Lesnar in the back with Heyman. Heyman is nervous. He's saying that things haven't been the same since the Hell in a Cell last month against The Undertaker.
04:25.47
Aaron
He's very worried for Lesnar because Big Show is so big and strong.
04:30.00
Bradley Palermo
Right.
04:30.29
Aaron
And we got a package leading up to it, and then we had Brock Lesnar versus Big Show.
04:35.22
Bradley Palermo
You know, i actually, ah sorry.
04:35.59
Aaron
for the championship.
04:37.64
Bradley Palermo
I actually think that the package did kind of a good job making me want to see Lesnar big, big show has been around so long and he hasn't really had any impressive matches in a while.
04:37.80
Aaron
Yeah, go ahead.
04:44.18
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
04:50.25
Bradley Palermo
I mean, he's an AEW nowadays, right?
04:52.63
Aaron
Yeah, and he doesn't wrestle anymore, I don't think.
04:54.84
Bradley Palermo
And when he did, it was... I mean, there was just really not a whole lot to write. He's not really in a... He wasn't in attraction at the end of his career. Like, Brock Lesnar is still in attraction today. So I was kind of feeling like, well, big show Lesnar.
05:07.38
Bradley Palermo
Who cares? And then the package kind of made me... With Lesnar and everything, kind of made me like excited. Maybe Lesnar's big, but he's...
05:12.74
Aaron
Yeah, it set him up as the baby face.
05:16.29
Bradley Palermo
Right. Lesnar's a big-ass guy, but he's going to meet his match against this giant. So...
05:21.13
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
05:21.44
Bradley Palermo
So yeah, but then we got into the match and I, you know, it wasn't much there, but it'll it'll be a
05:25.64
Aaron
Yeah, I mean, les like I said, Lesnar is definitely a babyface by this point. The crowd is very much behind him. um And, you know, that they did do a good job of setting it up as this was the biggest obstacle that Lesnar has had to overcome yet. um And it was a very short match, but I got to say I did love...
05:46.86
Aaron
How easily it seemed like Lesnar was just chucking the big show around. i mean, we always know that Lesnar is strong, but he gave him a German suplex that like was very surprising, got a huge pop, gave him a belly to belly, got a huge pop.
05:51.98
Bradley Palermo
yeah
06:05.92
Bradley Palermo
yeah and the crowd is super behind lesnar and lesnar is suffering broken ribs because he was
06:13.87
Aaron
thrown off the stage a few weeks ago.
06:15.67
Bradley Palermo
Yes, by the big show. So Lesnar had his out, but Paul Heyman swerved Lesnar. Supposed Supposed to be his, i don't know what he is, the manager, I guess.
06:26.92
Aaron
Yeah.
06:27.45
Bradley Palermo
ah Yeah, Brock Lesnar is his client, as he always says.
06:31.54
Aaron
Right. and And there was a referee bump. So the ref was knocked out and ah that's when Lesnar hit the f five when the new ref comes out and starts to count, Heyman interferes and pulls the ref away.
06:44.27
Aaron
He interferes on behalf of the big show and, you know, turns on Lesnar. So, um, was definitely not surprising in the grand scheme of Paul Heyman's career of wrestling, but I'm sure at the time people didn't think that that was going to happen. So big show, uh,
07:01.52
Aaron
Hit him with a chair, hit Lesnar with a chair, and then chokeslammed him onto a chair, and then that was all she wrote. That was Lesnar's first loss.
07:07.40
Bradley Palermo
in lesnar's first loss wow in kayfabe i think you're a dumbass if you think that lesnar's not gonna swerve you i mean he did it did it to roman in the favor of lesnar and roman took him back i think for a little while after that yeah and
07:11.54
Aaron
Yeah.
07:16.87
Aaron
That Paul Heyman. hey Yeah.
07:28.02
Aaron
He's done it to punk. He's done it to everyone. That's his shtick.
07:31.69
Bradley Palermo
So it's kind of hard in story for me to see why anyone would. He did it so to Rollins recently.
07:39.11
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
07:40.20
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. So Heyman's you know not not really a snake in the grass.
07:43.14
Aaron
He's a snake. No, he's just a snake, period.
07:44.43
Bradley Palermo
he for He's just a snake that's been out for a while, for decades, just hanging out.
07:48.28
Aaron
yeah
07:50.35
Bradley Palermo
You put your hand over there. You know, you chose to handle the snake.
07:54.28
Aaron
Yeah, yeah. And you know, it was a four minute match, so it was kind of disappointing, but it was definitely shocking, I'm sure, for the time. what What was the star rating?
08:04.61
Bradley Palermo
two
08:05.15
Aaron
Two.
08:05.07
Bradley Palermo
Two stars for the Sword of the Squash's itch match.
08:05.39
Aaron
That tracks.
08:08.75
Aaron
Yeah. Well, I'm hoping the next one got a better rating because I thought this one was pretty fun. This was a triple threat elimination tag team match for the WWE wwe Tag Team Championship.
08:18.80
Bradley Palermo
Match of the night.
08:19.11
Aaron
It was, yes, absolutely.
08:20.76
Bradley Palermo
Probably, yeah, yeah.
08:22.05
Aaron
Absolutely. Rey Mysterio and Edge, who we saw at No Mercy against Benoit and Angle, they're now the tag champs. Other tag team is Benoit and Angle. And then the third tag team is the Guerreros, Eddie and Chavo.
08:35.16
Aaron
um There's a lot of talented people in this match.
08:39.12
Bradley Palermo
lot.
08:40.01
Aaron
I mean, i i loved it, quite frankly, because, I mean, how can you not with these six guys? They're all so good. And i actually read online that these men were nicknamed the SmackDown Six.
08:53.71
Aaron
And it was like a thing during this beginning part of the Ruthless Aggression era.
08:53.66
Bradley Palermo
oh
08:57.79
Aaron
They would always be on SmackDown because of how good they were, how technical their matches were.
09:03.79
Bradley Palermo
I was thinking about this as The Ruthless Aggression era in general has incredible roster. There's just a lot of really great wrestlers.
09:11.78
Aaron
Mm-mm.
09:14.27
Aaron
Yeah, like in-ring, great. Great.
09:16.45
Bradley Palermo
i don't yeah I don't think the promos, the vibe, the writing, the creative... I don't really love a lot of that stuff, but the people they have in the ring are amazing, like legends, just left and right.
09:24.62
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
09:30.65
Bradley Palermo
And I um was wondering, like, is this the mid card for this era? Because you put six of them together.
09:39.78
Bradley Palermo
This is one hell of a fucking mid card, right?
09:42.49
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
09:42.53
Bradley Palermo
Because nowadays you'd have... I don't know fool, like Ivan and Eric, the Viking fuckers or whatever, you know, this is like crazy good for a mid card if that's what it's supposed to
09:54.24
Aaron
Yeah, I guess it kind of is.
09:55.10
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
09:56.51
Aaron
Yeah. I mean, they're they're not necessarily at this time. They're not really going for world championships. I'm pretty sure Mysterio ends up winning a championship pretty soon.
10:08.54
Aaron
Eddie wins a championship pretty soon. Benoit. I think they all do end up winning world championships like in the next few years.
10:16.12
Bradley Palermo
Right, but this is kind of your mid card right now.
10:18.74
Aaron
Yeah, yeah it's ah it's it's wild for a mid-card.
10:19.41
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. It's crazy. Yeah.
10:22.27
Aaron
It's nuts. um This was definitely my favorite match. We had a lot of back and forth. I mean, what can you say about all these guys? They're so good. I didn't write any specific things down except for there was a classic Guerrero moment um where Chavo grabbed one of the tag belts and he hit Benoit.
10:42.100
Aaron
And Benoit was like... in a submission with somebody, he was doing the submission to somebody. Chavo hits him with the belt and then Chavo throws the belt into Angle's hands and Benoit thinks that it's him.
10:56.100
Aaron
So it reignites their, you know, their frustration with one another and, uh, edge spears Benoit like right after this disagreement and then eliminates them.
10:58.81
Bradley Palermo
course.
11:08.04
Aaron
So they, you know, shove each other as they go off into the back. And then it's Edge and Mysterio versus the Guerreros for a while. And I thought it was super fun.
11:17.48
Aaron
Always fun to see Eddie and Ray together again, especially after that amazing match at Halloween Havoc.
11:21.69
Bradley Palermo
or
11:24.75
Aaron
And um I was pretty surprised by the end. The Guerreros won via submission. And so I'm pretty sure... Yeah, there were four title changes at this pay-per-view. Every title match had a new champ.
11:37.24
Bradley Palermo
It's pretty crazy. I think, ah guess this is elimination because it's survivor series, but it still feels overbooked.
11:43.07
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
11:43.88
Bradley Palermo
It feels like too much. You have three teams, but you can only have two in there at a time. And again,
11:48.49
Aaron
Yeah, I wish they just had let, like, three people fight at once, you know?
11:52.34
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
11:52.57
Aaron
but I mean...
11:53.21
Bradley Palermo
and Yeah. I just, again, it's, it's got the right people and it's got the right moves and stuff. But when I'm trying to follow it, I'm like, huh? I maybe, cause I like the to smoke weed and watch wrestling, but I'm like, this is too much.
12:05.61
Bradley Palermo
Just put, put a couple, you know, like put them all in there. Don't, don't tell me like, all right, you'll get, you'll get two on two after one team gets pinned, but that's just nitpicking.
12:15.07
Bradley Palermo
You know, it was cool though. And, um,
12:16.74
Aaron
Yeah.
12:17.61
Bradley Palermo
rosa really fucked and fucking loved it he gave it almost five stars he gave it four and a quarter which is high praise and
12:24.34
Aaron
Nice. Yeah. I mean, it was really good. there like Like we said, like I guess the weakest link in here is Chavo, but Chavo is still really good.
12:34.92
Bradley Palermo
yeah you're right chava is the the smallest name on the on the card here but it's
12:39.74
Aaron
but he's got a ton of experience. He's like, he's a, he's like a producer now. And I'm pretty sure he worked with, uh, uh, he works like on the movies now, whenever they do wrestling movies, he's like the producer that they bring in to like help make the wrestling look real.
12:53.72
Aaron
So like, he knows what he's doing. They all knew what they were doing. And, um, yeah, fun match. I'm glad that, that Papa Meltzer recognized it for what it was.
13:02.62
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, and we got another Papa coming up pretty soon, but we had Matt Hardy and Christopher Nowinski segment.
13:11.16
Aaron
Winsky. Yeah. Do you know, but do you know about now Winsky?
13:14.12
Bradley Palermo
No, he's like a Harvard character who's a real smug and more intelligent. No, wait, is that what I'm thinking? The right thing?
13:19.97
Aaron
Yeah, no, you are.
13:20.71
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
13:20.89
Aaron
But but um I was actually referring to the fact that he's much more well known now outside of wrestling.
13:20.88
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
13:28.05
Aaron
um He co-founded the Concussion Legacy Foundation. He has a PhD in neuroscience, and he's like a very important person when it came to researching concussions and CTE.
13:39.43
Bradley Palermo
Whoa, I didn't know that because his character is, I'm the only Harvard graduate in this entire building.
13:46.30
Aaron
but Yes, that is what his character was.
13:47.21
Bradley Palermo
And New Yorkers are stupid.
13:48.94
Aaron
Yeah,
13:50.51
Bradley Palermo
And then Matt matt Hardy comes out. First of all, Matt Hardy comes out to a graphic on the screen that says, Matt Hardy only drinks low-fat chocolate milk.
13:59.94
Aaron
yeah it was a Matt fact. That's what I thought when I read it.
14:01.97
Bradley Palermo
The fuck is that? Does it mean he doesn't drink water? He only drinks chocolate milk?
14:07.71
Aaron
and sort of sort of that's what i thought when i read it I was like oh, okay.
14:10.52
Bradley Palermo
Or does it mean he only drinks low fat when he drinks milk?
14:12.96
Aaron
When he drinks
14:15.48
Bradley Palermo
It seemed like he only... I'm i'm imagining him like after a match just being like... With a huge chocolate milk.
14:22.96
Aaron
I know. yeah that's it that Yeah, that stuff is pretty funny.
14:24.02
Bradley Palermo
so
14:27.35
Aaron
I mean, it's always been funny. And he he did that even in AEW. He did it in TNA when he was broken Matt Hardy. like He called them Matt Facts.
14:36.29
Bradley Palermo
Okay.
14:36.58
Aaron
And they're always like ridiculous things. So it's funny to see the beginning of it here.
14:39.23
Bradley Palermo
You know, so Matt comes out, he he has a beef to pick with Christopher that New Yorkers are not stupid. They're losers.
14:48.54
Aaron
Yep.
14:48.92
Bradley Palermo
And so there's an argument over whether New Yorkers are stupid or losers, and they eventually decide they're bull.
14:54.67
Aaron
They're both.
14:55.44
Bradley Palermo
And it feels kind of like a SmackDown segment, not really like a pay-per-view thing, but but it happened.
15:00.32
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
15:02.48
Bradley Palermo
And then Big Papa Pump, Scott Steiner, shows up, clears the ring, and Madison Square Garden pops probably bigger than they had for anything that entire night until maybe the very end.
15:15.19
Aaron
Yeah, that was his return to the wwe WWE. He didn't immediately come over once WCW had been purchased. um So that's...
15:23.16
Bradley Palermo
gotta take that free money sitting at home for a few years first.
15:26.74
Aaron
Yeah, yeah. And got to take more steroids. Like, my God, the steroids that man took.
15:31.64
Bradley Palermo
I mean, he's so big.
15:32.70
Aaron
Unbelievable. Yeah.
15:33.47
Bradley Palermo
is I can't believe he's still alive. is crazy.
15:37.18
Aaron
He was very large. Yeah.
15:39.15
Bradley Palermo
And his, of his late WWE run didn't go anywhere from my understanding, but this moment was a big moment.
15:45.58
Aaron
here yeah this was probably this was arguably the biggest moment of the whole wwe run um he was definitely much bigger in wcw and then i think he was in tna for a hot minute too and uh doing the the same the chain mail thing dude cracks me up have you ever heard the story of him how he how he found it
15:53.06
Bradley Palermo
Right.
16:07.24
Bradley Palermo
No, how did that work?
16:08.75
Aaron
I can't remember exactly, but he was like, oh yeah I was just like in in you know flea market or at a Renaissance fair or a thrift shop. And he's like, i saw it and I was like, this is tight. And then he bought it and they just started wearing it.
16:18.42
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. I mean, if I ever see anyone with something like that, that's instantly who I think about.
16:24.73
Aaron
Yeah.
16:24.80
Bradley Palermo
It's very, you know, I guess iconic.
16:27.85
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
16:28.22
Bradley Palermo
And for a long time, Impact, even though he hadn't been there for a long time, we're still using that as their thumbnail. When you flip through the channels, all Impact's on and it would have a picture of Papa Pump with the chain mail because that's where he started doing that, right? I mean, it wasn't.
16:43.80
Aaron
No, no, I think it was WCW.
16:44.52
Bradley Palermo
Oh, wait. Oh, was it? and He just carried it on.
16:46.45
Aaron
But, but he, well, yeah, he carried it on from WCW to w WWE.
16:47.52
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
16:50.78
Aaron
And then I think he was only in wwe WWE for like two years or something. And then he went to TNA or impact, whichever it was.
16:55.69
Bradley Palermo
Oh, TNA was after. Okay.
16:57.52
Aaron
Yeah.
16:57.45
Bradley Palermo
Right.
16:57.80
Aaron
Yeah.
16:57.73
Bradley Palermo
I got my timeline wrong. Yeah.
16:59.31
Aaron
Yeah. Cause he, he went over around the same time that angle went over to TNA and that was when you had Bischoff and Hogan and all those other people staying went over there too.
17:07.05
Bradley Palermo
Right.
17:10.13
Aaron
Um,
17:10.85
Bradley Palermo
But before we get too much further into the Elimination Chamber, we get an Elimination Chamber video package with another live saliva performance where they play another entire song, which that was when...
17:11.18
Aaron
and um
17:24.12
Aaron
Yeah, and they played them always before the the live performance too. It was it was exhausting.
17:29.32
Bradley Palermo
and that's this is when i was like i this is when i kind of made up my mind on the rating and for this for this pay-per-view i was like in good conscience there's only one decision to make
17:41.58
Bradley Palermo
ah triple h does triple h does a promo and he's the heavyweight champion and you know I guess he's always supposed to be smug.
17:50.32
Bradley Palermo
I feel like triplepoli still talks the way he did back then, though. And he's supposed to be like a cool guy now or something. But man, I just hate him so much. He's such a prick the way he talks.
17:58.36
Aaron
Yep. Yep.
18:00.16
Bradley Palermo
And I feel like I... I don't know if he wants to be that way or if he's just a natural heel, but I feel like... I just see right into how shitty his soul is when he speaks.
18:05.32
Aaron
think he is.
18:09.68
Bradley Palermo
And i guess I, I guess it's good. i mean, it makes me hate them and you got to make people hate people if you want to make them love the people that beat them. So
18:17.91
Aaron
Yeah, that and this you know was a period of time where he was... i mean, he was still getting cheered, but he was hated. um He was feuding with Shawn Michaels, who had come back to the WWE wwe recently after like four years away. he He had that back injury from the a casket match with Undertaker at the Royal Rumble in 98, and And um Sean had come back recently.
18:43.75
Aaron
He was betrayed by Triple H, who hit him with a sledgehammer in the back. And they had a street fight that I actually remember really well as being an excellent match at SummerSlam 2002.
18:51.72
Bradley Palermo
yeah
18:52.85
Aaron
And yeah, and um yeah Jericho, that Jericho was accompanied by Saliva playing the music at the world.
18:59.77
Bradley Palermo
uh jericho's music is kind of like saliva-esque you his fuzzy music yeah oh
19:00.70
Aaron
That's what it was. Yeah.
19:04.77
Aaron
I know, but see, the break the walls down thing. oh you're just talking about his, his Fozzie music. Yeah. Yeah, that's fair. But Jericho's goatee, it turned into a braid. Don't worry, people.
19:17.16
Bradley Palermo
God, yeah. He's got the ah hair of the event. you know Usually it's someone's mullet, but this time it was his facial hair.
19:24.44
Aaron
His goatee. Yeah. So, uh, this was the, as we said earlier, this is the first elimination chamber ever. Eric Bischoff came out and talked about how amazingly smart he was that he created this, this horrible, you know, environment where everyone's going to be destroyed by the steel and the chain. looked,
19:43.30
Bradley Palermo
Did you notice that Eric Bischoff came out to not Eric Bischoff's music, but he came out to that terrible Undertaker song that I brought attention to a week or two ago.
19:43.46
Aaron
i look
19:55.19
Bradley Palermo
He came out to, you're gonna pay, you're gonna pay, always kicking assholes, ass.
19:55.34
Aaron
Oh, is that what it was?
19:59.80
Aaron
the
20:01.47
Bradley Palermo
hold i have oh
20:02.83
Aaron
man. Yeah, or whatever. Oh, no.
20:04.94
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, he came out to it because it says, I'm back.
20:10.01
Aaron
i'm the man yeah or whatever
20:11.35
Bradley Palermo
an um bat old and airfo And I guess his real song is I'm Back. So I guess they couldn't, on Peacock, they couldn't get the rights. So they put on that terrible song.
20:19.85
Aaron
a
20:22.14
Bradley Palermo
but And also, Eric Bischoff, to my understanding, did not invent the Elimination Chamber.
20:27.18
Aaron
He did not.
20:27.76
Bradley Palermo
This was in kayfabe only.
20:30.24
Aaron
Yeah, I was actually just going to say that. I looked it up. Triple H was actually the one that came up with the idea. In in reality, they just yeah it did did the Bischoff thing in storyline.
20:38.69
Bradley Palermo
wrestling loves to create new ways to say cage match.
20:44.62
Aaron
Yeah.
20:44.50
Bradley Palermo
It's a bigger cage. We got a bunch of people in there. It's a war games. It's a blood and guts. It's a fucking, i don't know. There's a lot of, a lot of things, but really it's just, ah it's just a huge looking crazy roundish cage.
21:00.48
Aaron
Yeah, I mean, ah I think for the for the time, it being a brand new thing, I'm sure people were probably impressed by it.
21:00.91
Bradley Palermo
It's cool. I guess whatever.
21:21.15
Aaron
So um the way that an elimination chamber works, there are four plexiglass pods on the outer edges of the cage and two people start inside the ring and every five minutes somebody at random comes out of one of the pods.
21:35.82
Aaron
um The thing that I liked right off the bat is that they actually started using the cage as a weapon. You know, they were driving people into the chain and smacking people into the plexiglass. ah RVD was doing his signature dangerous high flying shit and Triple H starts bleeding with less than five minutes, you know, having passed through the match. Um,
21:56.85
Aaron
And it kind of just, you know, nothing super exciting, but they, they continue to, you know, fight one another. ah Jericho comes out next, then Booker T. um Van Damme did a splash from on top of one of the pods, which I'm sure i for the time was like super crazy.
22:16.69
Aaron
No one had ever seen something with that ridiculous except for like maybe Mick Foley getting thrown off the cell. ah So that got a huge pop. And of course, now we see it all the time. Everyone's doing crazy shit in an elimination chamber any chance they get.
22:28.25
Aaron
So for me, like, oh, but not like, whoa, holy shit, you know?
22:28.93
Bradley Palermo
Right.
22:33.83
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
22:35.03
Aaron
um And ah unfortunately, Van Damme got eliminated like right after that. I guess he kind of hurt himself and then Booker T eliminated him with a pin.
22:44.80
Aaron
Triple H she was taking a nap for most of this match, just hanging out in the corner.
22:47.16
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. Yeah.
22:49.70
Aaron
um And then, yeah, big man Kane comes out. He dominated for a bit, which makes sense. He's the biggest guy in the match. He's hitting people with big punches. He's doing choke slams.
23:00.96
Aaron
um One of the big moments of this match that I remember seeing over and over again throughout time is Jericho getting thrown through the plexiglass by Kane.
23:12.73
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
23:12.98
Aaron
and I just remember the first time I saw it, like, holy shit, they just said that was bulletproof. Like, how did he throw him through that? And like the sound that it made, it sounded like a bullet, you know, like a gunshot crowd.
23:25.54
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
23:26.42
Aaron
Crowd was like, whoa, holy shit. You know?
23:28.40
Bradley Palermo
and I'm so used to seeing people go through like planes of glass that it's kind of tame by today's standards, but I could see how that at time. Yeah.
23:36.48
Aaron
Yeah, and again, this is the we see this every year now in an elimination chamber.
23:40.55
Bradley Palermo
Right.
23:41.24
Aaron
Somebody goes through the plexiglass. But if you can think about like the first time, like you don't know what any of this stuff is.
23:43.12
Bradley Palermo
They do.
23:47.06
Aaron
You don't know what the actual materials are. So like the way that it broke, it was super intense. um
23:53.40
Bradley Palermo
I feel like Shawn Michaels had a bob haircut and this happens when a guy with long hair goes to the salon every once in a while instead of breaking it up and look making it look layered that's what i do for a living is hair but
23:58.25
Aaron
he did He did have a bob.
24:07.64
Aaron
Yeah, he's got the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory haircut, the Willy Wonka.
24:11.22
Bradley Palermo
he's Yeah, it looks so bad. And i think a lot of dudes, when they end up with a bob, it takes them a while to even realize what's happened. I mean, just as AJ Styles, he was walking around with a bob for a good five years, I think, before he figured it out.
24:22.83
Aaron
Oh, yeah.
24:25.45
Bradley Palermo
And Shawn Michaels has brown tights, which for whatever reason... just a real bad look unless you're like He-Man for Masters the Universe or something like brown tights and a bob.
24:39.66
Aaron
Yeah.
24:44.20
Bradley Palermo
he's He's back and he's good and he's the man and I'm wearing his t-shirt right now. But this is the worst look I've ever seen Shawn Michaels come out with.
24:54.79
Aaron
Yeah, it's funny because um I can't remember if he had this haircut for the street fight in SummerSlam, but SummerSlam, he just wore jeans and cowboy boots, which was also something that you would never see him wear beforehand.
25:05.25
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
25:09.35
Aaron
so
25:10.08
Bradley Palermo
That's like his kind of, I guess his gimmick at heart was, I'm kind of like a cowboy, right? He he like wears the cowboy hat these days and stuff.
25:17.30
Aaron
I'm from Texas, yeah.
25:19.38
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
25:19.95
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
25:20.46
Bradley Palermo
I'm from Texas, but I've been billed as being from Scottsdale or some shit for my whole life.
25:20.76
Aaron
Yeah.
25:25.35
Aaron
Is that what? No, I thought he was.
25:25.93
Bradley Palermo
Oh wait, no, it's he's no, it's, he's from Phoenix and he says he's from San Antonio.
25:26.69
Aaron
No, he was from Texas.
25:31.19
Aaron
Oh, is that what it is?
25:32.38
Bradley Palermo
I think that's what it is.
25:32.55
Aaron
Okay.
25:33.18
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
25:34.08
Aaron
So, um yes, after Jericho gets thrown through the plexiglass, he hits Booker T with a low blow a few minutes later. ah Booker T gets chokeslammed. Jericho hits him with a lion salt. Booker T is out of there.
25:46.98
Aaron
And finally, Sean comes out. He's the last one to come out of his his little pod, his capsule.
25:52.55
Bradley Palermo
capsule.
25:54.73
Aaron
And ah chain Kane just chokeslams everyone, but then gets a super kick for his troubles and a pedigree and a lion salt, and then Kane's gone. So now it's Triple H, Chris Jericho, and Shawn Michaels.
26:06.79
Bradley Palermo
This is when it gets good.
26:06.94
Aaron
ah
26:07.67
Bradley Palermo
I think when there's only three.
26:08.51
Aaron
This is when it gets very good. Yeah. Triple H and Jericho are both heels. They decide to team up. It definitely starts getting intense. They throw, think they throw Sean through the plexiglass and he gets busted open and they're really just beating the shit out of him and,
26:23.16
Aaron
Sean is the baby face of the match. Everybody wants him to win there their, their HBK chance for most of the time that he's out, um, and, and wrestling. And, um, eventually Jericho and triple H have a disagreement they start fighting and then Jericho gets pedigreed and he's out.
26:41.10
Aaron
Um, or maybe Sean gets him out. I can't remember, but triple H and Sean as the last two is Fantastic. i mean what can you say?
26:49.10
Bradley Palermo
Yeah, for sure.
26:49.95
Aaron
it's It's not like it's not obvious that these two would be the final ones and that they would have the most exciting portion of the match because they had all this history and story building up to this moment.
27:01.89
Aaron
Yeah.
27:02.22
Bradley Palermo
a lot of blood at this point.
27:03.93
Aaron
Yeah, a lot of blood. And, uh, HBK does ah an elbow from the top of one of the pods, which is pretty nuts too.
27:05.85
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
27:10.76
Aaron
Um, I mean, it's just a terrific end to the match. You know, it's 39 minutes. It's a long match and it definitely felt long at times, but by this point, I'm just super into it because I love both of these guys.
27:24.90
Aaron
I love, always love Shawn Michaels.
27:25.84
Bradley Palermo
yeah you know that at at the one hour left mark when there when on the screen it said there was only an hour left there was only promos and this match so there was 20 minutes of like saliva and like promos and then a 40 minute match and then explaining the whole thing and the and so yeah it's it was it was a lot but
27:27.83
Aaron
Um,
27:43.68
Aaron
And entrances.
27:49.55
Bradley Palermo
The end almost saved it. I mean, it was really good at the very end for sure.
27:54.68
Aaron
Yeah.
27:54.55
Bradley Palermo
And
27:54.92
Aaron
and And this ending is very famous to people still talk about it.
27:58.88
Bradley Palermo
yeah, I mean, Michael's hits triple H with the sweet chin music pins him. He's back. He's the world heavyweight champion.
28:06.91
Bradley Palermo
You got confetti everywhere in that elimination chamber and around. It looked great. It was cool.
28:13.56
Aaron
<unk> like It's like one of the biggest pops of all time, I think, maybe.
28:17.06
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
28:17.78
Aaron
He definitely was not expected at the time, i think, with him having come back so soon. And um yeah, i I love the ending to this match. i I've definitely seen this match before. I don't know if I've seen this whole pay-per-view before, but this match definitely was familiar to me. And I think...
28:38.98
Aaron
being sean michaels being as good as he was and me appreciating him as much as i have that's probably why i've seen it seen i've seen all of his like top ranked matches so
28:46.30
Bradley Palermo
Right.
28:49.87
Bradley Palermo
It's definitely when you watch like Shawn Michaels documentaries and they're talking about him coming back from injury and drugs and this and that, like something that they put on the screen quite often.
28:55.66
Aaron
mm-hmm
28:59.19
Aaron
Yeah. Oh, yeah, because he was I think he was a born again by this point and had finally given up all the bad stuff, which is good.
29:02.29
Bradley Palermo
He was, I believe Yeah. Yeah.
29:05.20
Aaron
i i'm That was the thing. like When you learn all these things, you're like, oh, man, I didn't know he was having such a tough time. like It's good that he figured it out and he came back.
29:11.90
Bradley Palermo
yeah
29:14.05
Aaron
And what's crazy to me still to this day is like from this point until he retired, i think honestly might be better than... the vast majority of what he did before. I mean, DX obviously was groundbreaking for how, how lewd and raunchy it was. But if we're just talking about promos, storylines and in ring work, like this stuff from 2002 until he retired is, is absolutely as good as his stuff from the nineties, if not better, in my opinion.
29:43.68
Bradley Palermo
yeah so aaron this was your call this was your choice this was your pay-per-view that you had us watch um why don't you go ahead and give us our rating system is it fast forward play or rewind for those of you who don't know fast forward being boo play being yay rewind being double yay
30:01.24
Aaron
Before I do, I want to hear what Meltzer gave that match.
30:04.82
Bradley Palermo
He gave it a four and one quarter star. I think matching the other match we said was the best match of the night. Mm-hmm.
30:11.52
Aaron
Yeah, okay. That feels legit. All right, so my rating... um You definitely can't give this pay-per-view a rewind because... um I mean, honestly, i liked most of the matches. The women's match I could have done without... I did not love how short...
30:27.32
Aaron
the Big Show Lesnar match was, but everything else I really didn't mind. um I'm going to give it a play because the ah triple threat elimination tag match, as we said, and incredible cast of wrestlers doing their best work.
30:44.09
Aaron
And although the, um you know, the the rules of the match and the book, like the the the psychology of the match wasn't necessarily the greatest, like I think the work inside of the match made up for that. And then I, you know, despite Elimination Chamber matches being long and clunky and having six people, I think that because this was the first one, there was just some excitement and something different about it. And I love Shawn Michaels. So yeah, I'm going to give it a play.
31:11.65
Aaron
I think I know where you're going to go, though.
31:20.08
Bradley Palermo
me try that again.
31:27.47
Bradley Palermo
All right, so my rating, I'm definitely realizing that I'm kind of a traditionalist. like I'm a singles match guy. feel like that's when the storytelling storytelling is best.
31:37.81
Bradley Palermo
There were only a few singles matches on this show, and they weren't very good. Well, the cruiserweight one was all right, but There were really great wrestlers on this card, and I did enjoy moments.
31:51.62
Bradley Palermo
And I was... When I was watching this, I was kind of thinking, like, maybe the Elimination Chamber can save it. And it got close to saving it for me. But I don't like Elimination Chamber generally.
32:03.07
Bradley Palermo
generally i Just don't want to see all that. I don't really know how they're picking who these people are. Like in Royal Rumble, they draw numbers. It's not fair for the last guy to come out and win. Like it's just the creative behind it doesn't have a lot of logic for me.
32:13.20
Aaron
Thank
32:16.17
Bradley Palermo
um Would have loved to see Shawn Michaels come out and just fight Triple H instead.
32:21.12
Bradley Palermo
There was yeah it's just a lot of trailer park sort of wrestling stuff. And there was too many saliva performances. And I thought, can't in good conscience give something with two live saliva conscious live performances anything other than fast forward.
32:38.85
Bradley Palermo
So I don't want to diminish. there are you should watch You should watch that Elimination Chamber match. I don't think there's anything else you really need to watch. though The one with Edge and Mysterio and all that stuff is cool, but you can see that a lot in this era.
32:52.99
Aaron
Yeah.
32:53.57
Bradley Palermo
There's just a lot of filler going on here. so
32:56.32
Aaron
Yeah, this was my era, you know, I mean, I started watching in the Attitude Era, but Ruthless Aggression, or at least the beginning of it, was when I was the biggest fan as a youngster. And, you know, funny enough, as soon as Cena started becoming a part, like, oh, six is when I was like, yeah, I'm out.
33:10.78
Bradley Palermo
Yeah.
33:13.21
Bradley Palermo
I always like to watch wrestling and it's, it's always fun doing this regardless, but yeah, I'm going to go ahead and go fast forward on this particular pay-per-view.
33:28.02
Aaron
Thank you.
33:42.16

34:46.06
Bradley Palermo
I have to have seen that one.
34:47.51
Aaron
I'm sure I've seen it, but I don't remember it. We should watch that at some point.
34:50.91
Bradley Palermo
Yeah. um Caddy on TikTok has written this before. It says in regards to married with children... and king kong bundy albani being named after king kong bundy he wanted us to he wanted to point out to us that the neighbors were called the roads which is crazy they were all over this wrestling with married with children and let's and brian brian clatterbuck on tick tock says
35:07.69
Aaron
Oh, that's funny.
35:17.58
Bradley Palermo
Eddie versus Ray was not the best match of all time. Mania 25, HBK Taker, Any Flair versus Steamboat, or Mania 10, HBK, Razor Ramon, I think that's the latter match, right?
35:25.60
Aaron
It's pretty good.
35:28.79
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
35:32.55
Aaron
It is, yeah. That's a very good match.
35:34.44
Bradley Palermo
Are all above Ray and Eddie, but it was a great match.
35:37.83
Aaron
i don't i don't I don't disagree all. Everything he listed was is pretty pretty fucking solid.
35:43.66
Bradley Palermo
I don't disagree. I mean, I'm excited that people are telling us, you know, the other contenders for greatest match of all time because, i mean, it's so subjective, but I do want to, i do kind of want to get a grasp for these.
35:50.26
Aaron
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
35:55.82
Bradley Palermo
So when they come, I know we're going to get to all of them.
35:58.42
Aaron
Yeah.
35:58.88
Bradley Palermo
I can be ready for it.
36:10.95
Bradley Palermo
pay-per-view,
36:14.01
Aaron
Okay.
36:13.95
Bradley Palermo
but I think I need a little bit of a palate cleanser. I need to get out of Survivor Series. I need to get out of WWE, get out of WWF. I want to go back to
36:26.47
Bradley Palermo
Crockett Productions stuff. I want to go to wanna go back 40 40 entire years to Starrcade Starrcade 85 The Gathering, which took place at two venues somehow at once, the Greensboro Coliseum, where I believe AEW was recently, and the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta, Georgia.
36:33.30
Aaron
Oh,
36:36.32
Aaron
ah wow. Okay.
36:45.20
Aaron
Mm-hmm.
36:48.55
Bradley Palermo
So you have... Magnetier versus Tully Blanchard in an I quit steel cage match for the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship, which I hear some people say is of the best matches.
37:01.98
Bradley Palermo
that have happened and then you have the rock and roll express and ivan and nikita koloff in a steel cage match for the nwa world tag team championship you have rick flair versus dusty roads i mean that's amazing that's a good match right there nwa world heavyweight championship you got two texas bull rope matches you've got The Barbarian versus Superstar Billy Graham.
37:28.20
Bradley Palermo
You got an Abdullah the Butcher Mexican death match versus Manny Fernandez. There's like some pretty cool shit on here that I'm feeling hopeful about.
37:36.76
Aaron
Yeah.
37:36.63
Bradley Palermo
And i'm I'm sure I put this on the house before, but I've never watched it attentively. So... Rock and Roll Express is in there somewhere. Jim Pornette's going to be in there. Midnight Express is in there somewhere.
37:47.83
Bradley Palermo
