The Gomes Guide Travel Podcast
The Gomes Guide Travel Podcast is where travel, food, and culture meet. Hosted by San Francisco–based travel writer, storyteller, and mom of two teens Shannon Gomes, the show features thoughtful conversations with experts in the food and wine world, avid travelers, creators, tastemakers, and locals who reveal what truly makes a destination memorable—and how to experience it like a local, with food always at the center of the journey.
From unforgettable meals and hidden neighborhoods to meaningful cultural experiences and practical travel insight, each episode is designed to inspire curious travelers—especially Gen X listeners who value depth, connection, and great food—to explore the world more intentionally and to bring a sense of discovery back home.
Shannon is also the writer behind The Gomes Guide (https://thegomesguide.substack.com), a weekly travel-focused Substack filled with stories, recommendations, and inspiration for meaningful travel. Listeners are invited to subscribe for fresh ideas, insider tips, and destination inspiration delivered each week.
Whether you’re planning your next trip or simply dreaming about one, The Gomes Guide Travel Podcast celebrates connection, community, and the joy of experiencing new places through food and travel.

Hi Shannon, it's Amy Boyle. I just wanted to leave you a message about your show, The Gums Guide, because I love it so much. Your passion for travel, family, food, sisterhood all comes through so clearly. But what I love most is how you remind people to look in their own backyard and celebrate local travel too. You're not a bucket lister, you're a big life liver. And whether you're abroad or right at home, you make a case that experience in celebrating life, both big and small, is what it's all about. Being a guest on your show and sharing my solo trip to Paris was such a joy. It felt like such a natural fit. I really do think that speaking to Phenomenal and the Gums Guide are kindred spirits in podcasting, two shows that are built on real conversations, real life, and not highlight reels. Thank you, Shannon, for having me and for everything you're building. Talk soon.
Hi Shannon, it's Jen from Books on Trains. First of all, congratulations on your 50th episode. That is amazing. And I love seeing all of the other things you're doing across the various platforms. You always inspire me and push me. Um, I had the best time on your podcast. It was one of the highlights of that year. I loved meeting you and talking with you about all things travel, and of course, getting to gush for a long time about my affinity for Scotland and you really pushing me towards those five months in my favorite country. I can't wait to come back, hopefully, this fall, to talk about literary travel and hopefully inspire more people to explore all of the things that that can be and how it gives back to small communities and businesses. Again, congratulations. Bye!
