This episode centers on the idea that your thoughts shape your entire life, drawing heavily from Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. Brett emphasizes that not every thought is true, and learning to challenge negative thinking is key to breaking patterns that hold you back. He highlights that winning the “battle in your mind” requires daily discipline—replacing fear, doubt, and worry with truth, focus, and positive intention. The episode also stresses letting go of the past and being mindful of where your attention goes, since your focus determines your direction in life. Overall, the message is that by taking control of your thoughts, you can change your choices, your direction, and ultimately your future.

Welcome to a conversation of hope. I am so glad you tuned in. This week we are talking about where it all starts and ends. Right from the start, I want to remind you, you are enough. You in fact have what it takes. You're a champion whose absolute best days are straight ahead. All right, quick funny story for y'all. Something that happened over the weekend. My wife and I were headed to church along with my granddaughter, Athena Rose. She's so beautiful. My daughter drove separately as she was going to bring someone home after church. As we were waiting at the intersection at the stoplight, I felt my car and all the cars around me were starting to shake from someone jamming their music and thumping the bass. When I realized it was my daughter right behind us thumping and bumping, I just started to laugh. It made me just think, oh my gosh, that is awesome. It also made me realize never ever turn down that music in life, y'all. Let's always live life to its fullest. All in. I love it. Keep that music going, everybody. This week I want to recap you, recap the book, The Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Myers. Joyce Myers is absolutely phenomenal. Joyce has written over 80 books, and this is her best-selling book. The mind is truly where it all starts and ends for all of us, every one of us. When you win the battle in your mind, you win in life. A great life is preceded by continuously thinking positive, expectant, abundant thoughts daily. The direction of your thoughts will determine the direction of your life. All right, y'all. Let's get right into it. I think you're going to love it. Super, super powerful. So today I want to take you on a powerful journey through one of the most life-changing messages ever written about our inner world, the battlefield of the mind with Joyce Myers. Because whether we realize it or not, the greatest battles we face in life are not around us, but they are within us. Let me start with the core idea. Every single day, thoughts come at you, some good, some destructive, thoughts of fear, doubt, insecurity, worry, comparison, and guilt. And here's the truth, Joyce emphasizes. You don't have to believe every thought that you think. That's where most people get stuck. They assume if I'm thinking it, it must be true. But that's not true. Some thoughts are lies, some are conditioned patterns, some are planted by fear, past experiences, or negativity. And if you don't take control of those thoughts, they will take control of you. The war is in your mind. Joyce explains that's the enemy's primary strategy is deception. Not necessarily dramatic, obvious attacks, but subtle whispers like you're not good enough. You'll never change. This will never work. Something bad is about to happen. Does that sound familiar? These thoughts create strongholds, deeply rooted patterns of thinking that shape how you see yourself, your future, and even God. And here's the danger. If you think wrong, you'll live wrong. Your life moves in the direction of your strongest thoughts. So what's the solution? Joyce doesn't just diagnose the problem, she gives a clear strategy for success. You have to renew your mind. That means replacing lies with truth, replacing fear with faith, replacing negativity with expectation. It's not a one-time event, it's a daily discipline. Because the mind doesn't automatically drift towards truth, it drifts towards whatever it's been trained to believe. Think about what you're thinking about. One of the most powerful concepts in the book is this. Pay attention to your thoughts. Most people don't. They let thoughts come and go unchecked, like background noise. But Joyce challenges us to stop and ask, is this thought helping me? Is this thought the truth? Is this thought aligned with the life that I want? If not, it needs to go. Because you have authority over your mind. Once again, you have authority over your mind. You don't have to sit there and entertain negativity. Another key lesson is the importance of focus. Where the mind goes, the person follows. If you focus on problems, you'll feel overwhelmed. If you focus on fear, you'll feel anxious. If you focus on what's wrong, life will feel heavy. But if you shift your focus to what's right, what's possible, and what God says about you, everything begins to change, not overnight, but steadily. The trap of worry and overthinking. Joyce also addresses something that so many people struggle with, and that's worry. Worry is like a rocking chair. It keeps you moving, but gets you nowhere. It drains your energy, it steals your peace, and it solves nothing. The book teaches that worry is often rooted in trying to control what we cannot control. The antidote Trust. Trust that things will work out. Trust that you don't have to have every answer. Trust that peace is available even in uncertainty. And then let go of the past. Another major battlefield is your past. Your past mistakes, your past regrets, or your past failures. Joyce emphasizes that many people live trapped, not because of what happened, but because of how they keep thinking about what happened. They replay it, they relive it, they reinforce it, and it keeps them stuck. But here's the truth you cannot move forward while constantly looking backwards. Freedom begins when you decide I am not my past. I am not my mistakes. I am moving forward. Choosing positive thinking. Now let's be clear, this book is not about pretending everything is perfect. It's about choosing thoughts that empower you rather than defeat you. Choice teaches that positive thinking is intentional. It's a choice, not a personality trait, and it requires discipline. You may not control every thought that enters your mind, but you absolutely control which ones stay. Man, is that powerful, y'all? That hit me really, really hard. You may not control every thought that enters in your mind. And reality is it should just say you will not control every thought that enters your mind because it's true, but you absolutely control which ones stay. Remember, you have the power, y'all. The daily battle. Here's something important. This battle doesn't end, it's daily. Every day you will have opportunities to either think negatively or think positively, believe lies or embrace truth. Give in or stand firm. And every small victory matters. You can do it, everybody. Because winning in your mind, even in the smallest moments, leads to winning in life. All right, here's our final takeaway. And remember, get the book, it's phenomenal. So if you remember nothing else from Battlefield of the Mind, remember this. Your thoughts shape your life. If you change your thinking, you change your choices. If you change your choices, you will change the direction of your life. And if you change your direction, you change your destiny, everybody. So, how do we start? Be aware of your thoughts. Challenge what doesn't serve you. Replace the lies with the truth, and choose to think in a way that leads to peace, purpose, and victory. That's what we want, everybody. Victory. That's what you deserve. Because the battlefield is in your mind, and you have what it takes to win. Oh, I believe that so much, y'all. All right, great information. Make sure you buy a copy of The Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Myers. I would suggest maybe reading it twice a year for the rest of your life, as winning the battle over your mind will be the one your life, it will be one of your life's greatest victories. Oh my goodness. I just love that book. So powerful. And think about it, y'all. Obviously, it's good. If Joyce has written over 80 books and this is her bestseller, that tells you that people really, really went to that book, and that's fantastic. All right, y'all. Buckle up as we launch straight into the laugh zone. Why don't oysters donate to charity? Because they are shellfish. I love bringing these stories to you every week. And the reason is there's so much negativity that comes at us every day. I like to find some really cool things going on and share them with you just to remind you and I that there's so many great things going on. Um, it's all going on around us. Um so I'd like to highlight that so you can hear about it every single week. All right, first one up. 12-year-old saves mom's life by taking the wheel and calling for help after she passed out while driving. This is the inspiring moment. A 12-year-old hero saved his mother's life by grabbing the wheel, then calling for emergency services after she collapsed while driving in the neighbor neighboring country of England. Quick thinking Zach managed to take control of Nicolo's Niccolo's car and steer it to safety after she passed out behind the wheel while traveling 60 miles an hour, y'all. The 37-year-old lost consciousness, yet her foot remained on the accelerator before Zach managed to slow down the car before hitting a barrier. Once the vehicle had stopped on the road, he switched off the engine and used the phone to call emergency services. West Metro Police has released an audio file of the call that shows Zach staying calm while directing call handlers to their location, even though it was in Wales across the border. Zach can be heard saying, I'm driving on a motorway and my mom just fainted, so I had to crash the car to a stop. Her foot went down on the pedal and it started accelerating, so I had to crash into the barrier. I'm really scared. Then Nicola regained consciousness. Zach told her, It's alright. Calm down. It's fine, mom. Hold my hand. Mum, he said, continued to soothe her. Breathe. I just drove the car. It's really easy. Uh Nicola repeatedly apologized as Zack continued to reassure her. It's fine. I'm worried about you, not me. I knew we were gonna be fine. This week, Zach was commended for his bravery when the police department awarded him a chief constable's commendation. He visited the forces HQ, meeting the call handlers and the officers who responded to the incident. Nicola said just so proud of him and so appreciative of all the efforts that Zach made. Nicola and Zack had been traveling from Wales when the drama unfolded. I am delighted to present Zack with this award today following what must have been an extremely frightening experience for such a young boy, said the chief of police. For a twelve year old to react in such a calm and mature manner is magnificent, and I would like to express my gratitude for his actions on that day. His display of bravery certainly extinguished any danger to both of them as well as other members of the public who were on the road that day. Wow. Quick thinking for that twelve year old boy, saved his life and his mom's life and potentially other people around him. Absolutely fantastic. Um just rising to the occasion. Next story up, y'all. Roofers repair seventy eight year old widower's roof for free after scammers left him with a big hole. Roofers repaired a seventy-eight year old widower's roof for free after he was scammed out of thousands by another tradesman. Mike needed a few of his roof tiles replaced just weeks after his wife of fifty seven years died following a long battle with liver cancer. When the first set of roofers arrived, they aggressively quoted him about three hundred ten dollars for the work. He felt pressured into accepting it and before he knew it the bill had rose to eight times that amount. Mike paid the workers who pocketed the cash and left his home in Oldman unfinished and with a huge hole in the roof. When Denny Melea, another tradesman, found out last week he rushed over with his team and offered to do the work for free, y'all, not to dismiss the story. I was outraged hearing Mike's story, said Melia, and the owner of Jigsaw Roofing. I couldn't believe people would take advantage of a man in that stage of his life. The job was only about 25% done when we got to the house. And the other workers had said they'd finish it for another twelve hundred dollars. But I told Mike that if they showed up again, he should absolutely call the police. Wow, everybody, isn't that cool that somebody stepped in to help out, didn't just hear about the story, but then immediately reacted, and he was a refer, so he was able to fix the situation for that widower. That is awesome. Golden rule people helping people. That's what we do, everybody. All right. Jamie Kern Lima is the first podcast recap I want to do for you this week. I'm gonna recap recap three of them. As you know, I love to listen to podcasts like you do. And I always try to get the best three episodes that I heard for the week so I can recap it for you. Um, because I want to bring you the best of the best inspirational information. And there's so much out there. So once again, number one, Jamie Kern Lima, discover your life's purpose. She had a special guest, Arthur Brooks, on this one. All right, so she said happiness is not accidental, it's built intentionally through things like relationships, service, and personal growth. Remember, I get real quick, Jamie Kern Lima, y'all, she is the one that is a founder of a cosmetic company, and she sold her company for $1.1 billion cash. And so they're saying to us, happiness is not accidental, it's built on intentionally through things like relationships, service, and personal growth. She says nothing about money. So that's so powerful. Success alone does not create fulfillment. You need a deeper sense of purpose behind what you're doing. Focus on what gives you your life meaning, focus on who you are serving, and focus on aligning your daily action with your values. You're not stuck. Purpose can be discovered and created at any stage of life. A meaningful life is not found by chasing success. It's built by intentionally aligning your life with purpose and impact. The real problem is not a lack of success, but a lack of meaning. You can have a good career, financial stability and achievements, and still feel like something is missing. The number one predictor of depression and anxiety is feeling like your life lacks meaning. You have no purpose. That emptiness isn't random. It's a signal pointing you towards the deeper purpose. Happiness is broken into a few key components enjoyment, just simple joys in life, satisfaction, progress towards your goals, and meaning, knowing why your life matters. Most people focus on enjoyment or success, but meaning is the missing piece. If you're not present, you cannot love. Love in fact only exists in the present moment. Relationships suffer when you're distracted or future focused. True fulfillment comes from being fully engaged in the now. Alright. Link to the full episode is in the show notes, as always, everybody. Number two. Terry Savell, your words are seeds. Terry says every word you speak is either building your future or limiting it. The Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. Words are like seeds planted in the soil of your life. Over time they will produce a harvest of good or a harvest of bad. Many people unknowingly sabotage their future by speaking negativity about themselves, their finances, their health, and their relationships. Phrases like I'll never get ahead, or I'm always tired, or nothing ever works out for me, may feel harmless in the moment, but over time they will produce negative results in your life. Always speak in alignment with your goals. I am a disciplined and focused person. Opportunities are coming my way. I am healthy, strong, and energized. You don't wait until you have a harvest to plant. You plant in expectation of having one. One positive statement won't override years of negative self talk. Build a daily habit of positive affirmations to ensure you're constantly speaking words over of life. Over your life and the lives of the ones you love. Your words shape how you see your future, and your self-image determines your actions. If you declare growth, success, and resilience, your behavior will start to align with those beliefs. Pay attention to your current vocabulary. Eliminate phrases that reinforce lack, fear, or limitations. Replace with intentional life giving declarations. Be patient. Growth takes time, but it is inevitable if you stay consistent. Alright y'all. Once again, link to the full episode is in the show notes. Check it out. Number three, Joel Osteen pushing people up. Joel says when you intentionally help others succeed, God will help ensure that you succeed. Many people in your life are not there to push you forward. They are there for you to push forward. God places certain people in our life on purpose. These people are connected to your destiny. Some examples would be a coworker who needs guidance, a neighbor who needs encouragement, or someone with less experience who needs mentorship. These relationships are opportunities to sow seeds, not just receive benefits. What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you. Help someone rise when and you will rise. Open doors for others and doors will open for you. Invest in others and God will invest in your future. Give and it will be given unto you. Ecclesiastes eleven one. It's like a boomerang effect. The encouragement, favor, and opportunities that you give out will come back to you, often multiplied. We never do it expecting for anything to come back, but that's just how it works, y'all. You should always have someone you're actively helping grow. Mentoring someone at work, encouraging a friend through a tough time, using influence to create opportunities for someone else. Living inward focus can be a barrier to helping others. Incorrect mindset can keep people stuck from their purpose. True growth comes from shifting from self-centered to others centered. Someone helped you get to where you are, now help someone else get to where they want to be. You are where you are today because someone pushed you up. Now it's your turn. Team, we always talk about it. Golden rule living at its finest. Do unto others as you want done to yourself. Link to the full episode once again is in the show notes. Alright, now it's time for the challenge of the week. Take some time to evaluate your current self-talk. If it's not aligned with your goals and your dreams, let's change it. Ensure your self-talk is helping you achieve your best life, as that is what you truly deserve. And that's what we're the whole podcast is here for. I want to give you hope, encouragement, as well as very specific strategies so that you can have that best life that you so want. I promise you it's available for you. All right, as always, I want to close it out by reminding you: you are enough. You, in fact, have what it takes. Your true, absolute best days are straight ahead of you, champion. You are loved and appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being a part of our great community as we roll to one million. Have an epic day and a magnificent week. God bless.
