Welcome Back After Hiatus
Speaker 1Hello , welcome to episode 9 of the Team Winget podcast , and I'm your host , dave Morgan . So you know what . It's been a little while , but I got a little busy , as per normal . I had a sick kid . The miserable little snot rocket , that little germ farm , came back from his school camp and , yeah , just did not seem to go too well at all . He came back miserable , tired , happy , but tired , miserable just because he was sick and yeah , he pretty much had the following week off because he had a cold flu , whatever . Petri dish of germs went around that camp and you know what ? There's nothing we could do about it . He had fun , but then he went back to school because , well , he only had one week left to school before holidays , so it's about time he went back there , because you know what he needs more time at school .

Creative Spark and Social Media

Speaker 1I don't know if anyone noticed , but I've actually gotten off my ass and done a fair bit on YouTube lately . There was three videos pretty recent . All was in about a week of each other , so I'm actually getting off my ass . I found that little bit of creative spark that I used to have , so I'm getting motivated again . I'm enjoying the editing . I enjoy doing this sort of thing , so when I get a bit of time , this is what I like to do , and you know what . I hope you guys enjoy it too . Weekend Plans and Family Time
Speaker 1So this weekend coming up seems to be pretty goddamn impressive . I don't have Josh , so Leanne and I have our weekend to ourselves . So now we're talking about Friday night , the Firelight Festival in the city in Docklands I believe it is , and I don't know what it entails , but the few videos I've seen on Facebook it looks a bit interesting . It could be a bit of fun . It just involves going into the city . So , look , it's not my first choice , but you know what , for something different . It only goes for the Friday , saturday , sunday nights . So it's like blink and you miss it or who knows what , like we could go there and wander off and find something else to do . So you don't know . But yeah , so friday night looks like we could be doing that saturday , but I'm too sure probably not much . Oh , friday , during the day I've got josh because it's a curriculum day , because his school decided , you know what , just because two weeks off , you need an extra day . So we're gonna have a Friday off , so I'll have Josh most of the day and then Lan comes over and that's when this starts . So from there , saturday , I don't know if we'll do anything Saturday . We might just goof around , not do a whole bunch just sort of relax a little .
Speaker 1And then on the Saturday night we're meant to be going to I think it's called the Boogeyman Bar , somewhere towards the city somewhere , and see a band called the Dirty Rats , because I believe it's the bass player Used to be a teacher at our high school . Now , it was either metalwork or woodwork , I actually don't remember . I don't remember the guy too well which Leanne's going to go . What I said , I know , but I was only there for a year , at 10 and 11 , so what do I know ? She was there for like the whole of her high school thing , so of course she'd know him . And yeah , she's stayed in touch with this guy , with this teacher , and yeah , and I think he actually taught her son when her son went to high school different high school , but so it's like , yeah , those two have a friendship for ages .
Speaker 1So we thought , yeah , why not , let's go see them . You know what ? I actually don't mind going and seeing pub bands , so it could be a bit of fun . So the other thing we're doing this weekend is going up to I think it's Tulangi , up past Dixon's Creek or somewhere out bush it's like an hour away from my place , I believe , to her sister's place and her husband and her dad's going to be there . Oh , just a big Christmas in July , family get together , so you know what it could be a bit of fun . I haven't seen her sister in well . I've seen her once in December in a long time .
Speaker 1And then her next door neighbour who is her husband's stepbrother . I know it's confusing . Imagine how I feel . Yeah , we went to high school with , so I'm looking forward to catching up with him too , and who knows who else is going to be . There could be all sorts of people popping in who I don't actually know . But you know what ? There's something different . Let's go spend an afternoon up in the bush , and if I misbehave , there's plenty of property there for them to bury up , to bury my body .
Speaker 2I guess you just never know how the afternoon pulls out if humans have different blood types , does that mean mosquitoes see us as different flavours ?
School Holidays and Parenting Arrangements
Speaker 1So , as I said , the school holidays are coming up and it's always a fun time trying to get the time off from work and figuring out what to do with Josh For the couple of days I have him each week . Like just depends on the week . Some days I have him three sometimes Sorry , some . It's a weird situation because one week I have him two days , the other week I have him five days in a bunch of two and then three , like yeah , it's a weird parental thing because I flat out refuse to go seven days without him . So it's a little odd and makes school holidays interesting . But you know what it works . I get to see my little buddy . Well , I'll call him a little buddy now . He school holidays interesting . But you know what it works . I get to see my little buddy Well , I'll call him a little buddy now . He hasn't annoyed me lately , so I guess he's my little buddy .
Speaker 1And yeah , just got to think of things to do . Should be a bit of fun . I know my sister Lizzie's birthday is in there somewhere and I think we're going out for dinner . Other than that , we'll probably catch up with Aunty Kel . Leanne will probably come along and do something with us . I don't actually know what we're going to do , so it'll be a case of let's just figure it out and , hey , team wing it . It's not like we have a whole lot of plans to begin with .

Three Years in Killsize
Speaker 1So on the 2nd of July . I have now been in this place in Killsize for 3 years Now . Every other year I've done a video celebrating woohoo . Another year of not blowing the place up or burning it to the ground . This year I just didn't .
Speaker 1I thought , eh , I'd seen no reason to celebrate . It hasn't taken any effort on my part , just keep the place clean and when the inspections happen and make sure nothing goes totally fucking tits up . So I just couldn't be arsed doing a video about that . I mean , considering I've done three videos recently about all sorts of other shit , I thought you know what , I don't need to do that one . So I didn't and I had more important things to worry about . Anyway , like it is a case of , yes , another year here in Kilsize and you know what I do like the place . I'm never gonna say I don't , but I really do enjoy it . It's just a nice little place for Josh and myself . We have fun .

Speaker 2in life , we make our own choices . Sometimes a choice is made for us and sometimes there is no choice at all .
Speaker 1So we have come to the end and , to tell you the truth , I didn't pick this song . It picked me , the truth . I didn't pick this song . It picked me because lately , josh has been sending Leanne and myself different songs in this , and this one is an earworm . This one has been stuck in our goddamn heads . Now , to tell you the truth , I only paid attention to the chorus because I didn't actually listen , because I somehow managed to just blank it out of my mind .
Speaker 1But Josh has managed to get this hooked into our little clan here and so because of this , it's called the Duck Song or the Duck Story or something , and it's a stupid little YouTube thing . But you know what , if you listen to the whole thing , it actually has a bit of a giggle at the end . So it's your choice , unless you're me , and you'll get annoyed in the first like 30 seconds and go sorry , dave , I'm not paying attention to this shit . You're on your own and good luck for you , for Josh getting that stuck in your head , sir . So you know what . Enjoy .
