A Shepherd After God's Own Heart

1 Peter 5:2-5 NLT

Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Being a pastor is not merely a position, but a divine calling.

A Shepherd Who Serves with a Willing Heart
“Not grudgingly, but willingly…”

A true shepherd:
- Does not serve out of pressure or obligation
- But because of a calling and love for God
- Ministry is not a burden, but the longing of the heart.

If the heart is right, ministry becomes a blessing, not bitter exhaustion.

A Shepherd Pure in Motivation
"Not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God."

Motivation is the key:
- Not for personal gain
- Not for popularity or position
But:
- For the glory of God
- For the growth of the church

A Shepherd Who Sets an Example
Don’t lord it over... but lead them by your own good example.

Spiritual leadership is not about power, but about example.

A shepherd:
- Leads through his or her life
- Being an example in faith, love, and humility

A Shepherd Who Waits for the Eternal Reward
“You will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor."

God sees every act of ministry:
- Faithfulness in small things
- Hidden sacrifices
- True rewards do not come from man, but from God.

A Church That Supports with Humility
"Dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another..."

The installation of a pastor is not only about the leader, but also about the church.

The church is called to:
- Be submissive and respectful to spiritual leaders
- Live in humility
- Support the pastor by prayer and unity
- Build healthy relationships in the Body of Christ

Today we learn that:

A Pastor is called to:
- Serve with a pure heart
- Have a pure motivation
- Be a good example
- Faithfully wait for God's rewards

And the church is called to:
- Live in humility and support the pastor

To the installed pastor:
“Shepherd the flock of God with love, faithfulness, and a good example.”

To the church:
“Walk together in humility, so that the church may grow in the will of God.”
