In this message from the “Back to the Basics” series, we explore why Scripture is an essential part of following Jesus and how God’s Word shapes us into His disciples. Through the story of a younger brother who wanted to become like his older brother, we discover that we become like those we spend time with. The early church in Acts devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, which was deeply rooted in Scripture and pointed people toward Jesus. We learn that Jesus viewed God’s Word as a source of life, truth, and transformation. Reading the Bible is not only about gaining knowledge but about hearing and obeying God’s voice, allowing His Word to change our character and make us more like Jesus. As followers of Christ, we are invited to build a daily rhythm of engaging with Scripture and ask how God is using His Word to shape who we are becoming. The central truth is simple: God’s Word transforms us, so we can become more like Jesus.
