Jessica:

Hello and welcome to the Ponder and Magnify podcast, where our mission is to seek an encounter with Jesus through praying the rosary, relying on the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary. I am so happy that you are here. Welcome to our first decade meditation episode. I'm so happy that you're here. Today, Instead of praying a full rosary, we're going to do a deep dive into the Agony in the Garden just praying one decade, 10 Hail Marys, but really bringing in a new piece of meditation for each of those Hail Marys to really picture ourselves in the scene. Before we start, I just want to encourage you to take a moment to just pause and reflect on what you're bringing to prayer. What are your joys in this moment? What sorrows are you feeling right now? Do you have any fears? What are you desiring? Who do you wish to pray for? If that felt too fast, I invite you to just pause the podcast right now and just really allow yourself to bring those things to mind so that you can bring all of you to prayer. Jesus, we ask you to speak directly into our circumstances now. Mary, thank you for praying with us and for us now. Holy Spirit, anoint the gift of our imagination so that we might come to encounter Jesus more deeply through it. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. The first sorrowful mystery is Jesus' Agony in the Garden. A Reading from the Gospel of Luke. Then, going out, Jesus went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives and the disciples followed him. When he arrived at the place, he said to them pray that you may not undergo the test. After withdrawing about a stone's throw from them and kneeling, he prayed, saying Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Still not my will, but yours be done. And to strengthen him, an angel from heaven appeared to him. He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, amen. The disciples watched as Jesus kneeled down before the Father, seeking consolation from his distress. In his kneeling they saw both his humility and his desperation. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Jesus began his prayer saying "Father Already, jesus experienced such relief in placing himself in prayer before all of Heaven, calling God his Father. Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. The Father spoke to Jesus' heart,

The devil tried to keep Jesus from hearing the Father's voice, tempting him to despair. Jesus just kept praying. If you are willing, take this cup away from me. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy own, jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

In his agony, Jesus pictured himself in the arms of the Father. He would not let this image go. He was both alone in the garden and in his Father's arms at the same time, and both were real. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The Father continued to speak to Jesus' heart, "you are mine, I love you. I will not let go my son. You will make it to the end, I promise you. Oh, my son. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. The father wept at Jesus' surrender. My child, please listen. The devil will try to make you feel alone. He will try to convince you that I have abandoned you. Believe that I am with you. Keep seeing yourself in my arms, carrying you through this. I am not letting go of you. Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen. The Father sent an angel from heaven to Jesus to strengthen him At this strengthening.

Jessica:

Jesus was able to mentally rise out of his suffering and remember his and his father's shared desire for every soul to be in heaven. In this moment, his sacred heart was set ablaze with love for souls and an eagerness to offer his suffering for their salvation. The Father would make it possible. This suffering would have a purpose. Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, jesus.

Jessica:

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Jessica:

Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be. World without end. Amen, O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of your mercy. Amen Hail Holy Queen, mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor, banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious, advocate thine eyes of mercy toward us and, after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, o Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen. Thank you so much for praying with me today. Please know that you are in my continued prayers and I ask you humbly to also pray for me. All praise be to God.
