Jessica:

Hello and welcome to the Ponder and Magnify podcast, where our mission is to seek an encounter with Jesus through praying the Rosary, relying on the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary. I am so happy that you are here Today. We're going to be praying the Rosary while meditating on the luminous mysteries of the Rosary. Before each decade, you will be given something to imagine related to the mystery we're praying. However, if the Holy Spirit leads you somewhere different as you're praying, follow that prompting. Instead, before we start, let's pause and reflect on what we're bringing to prayer. What are your joys in this moment? What sorrows are you feeling right now? Do you have any fears in this moment? What are you desiring? Whom do you wish to pray for? In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen, Jesus, we ask you to speak directly into our present circumstances. Mary, thank you for praying with us and for us now. Holy Spirit, anoint the gift of our imagination so that we might come to encounter Jesus more deeply through it. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven. He is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. For an increase in faith. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen For an increase in hope. Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen For an increase in love. Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen, glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. World without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Jessica:

The first luminous mystery is the Baptism of Jesus, a reading from the Gospel of Matthew. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens saying this is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Jesus ascends out of the water of baptism and the Father affirms him "this is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.

Jessica:

Oftentimes, we discount that the Father could actually be pleased with us, yet alone want to claim us as his because we fixate on our weaknesses and sin. To the devil's delight. We deem ourselves undesirable to the Father, and thus we deny our most foundational identity as belonging to him. In doing so, we cut ourselves off from his gentle, humble paternal love and the safety, joy and peace that comes with belonging to him. See in Jesus' baptism that Jesus had to do nothing to earn the Father's love or prove himself in order to be claimed by him. At his baptism, Jesus had not yet called forth the apostles, completed any preaching or healing or offered himself for our sins in his passion, and yet the Father was already pleased with him. Just as a parent loves their infant before the infant can even so much as lift their head, so the father loves you. He is not looking to you to prove yourself worthy of him, but rather he is looking for you just to allow yourself to be held by him.

Jessica:

As we pray this decade, see how the Father looks at you with the awe of a parent holding their child for the first time, at this very moment and every moment from now and into eternity. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

Jessica:

Amen, hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen, glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen, o my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls into Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

Jessica:

The second luminous mystery is the wedding feast at Cana, a reading from the Gospel of John. On the third day there was a wedding in Cana, in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him they have no wine. The wedding feast at Cana story highlights the truth about Mary's heart that she is always attuned to our situation, anticipating our needs and appealing to Jesus to address them. As a good mother, she does this even when we do not think of her.

Jessica:

It is clear from Scripture that God will not wield his power in our lives without our consent or our invitation. He will not force himself in. The scripture tells us Jesus was invited to the wedding, whereas Mary, the mother of Jesus, simply was there. Mary stands before Jesus always on our behalf, inviting him to pour his grace into our lives, even before our own hearts have gotten to this point of invitation. Jesus is relieved at Mary's requests, for he also perceives our needs and wishes to be invited to address them.

Jessica:

Imagine how many times Mary has thrown herself at the feet of her son on your behalf, asking for grace and mercy for you, without you even knowing it. As we pray this decade, imagine your heart with floodgates around it. The grace and mercy Mary has begged for from God for you is there in abundance, pressing up against the floodgates, ready to flood into your heart as soon as you open them. All you need is available to you as a result of her prayer. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.

Jessica:

The third luminous mystery is the proclamation of the kingdom, a reading from the Gospel of Matthew. When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. I am willing, he said, be clean. Immediately, he was cleansed of his leprosy. I am willing to make you clean, jesus says to the leper and all of us. Then he proves it to us by allowing himself to be bloodied, battered and nailed to the cross. Every physical healing Jesus performed during his years publicly proclaiming the kingdom was only temporary. These people, the leper included, would still have to eventually die. But these earthly healings were never intended to be the ultimate gift, but a sign of the ultimate gift to come for all of us in our eternal, permanent healing, to come in heaven as we pray this decade.

Jessica:

Imagine yourself standing at the threshold of heaven.

Jessica:

Jesus and Mary meet you there with obvious, exuberant delight.

Jessica:

Jesus turns to Mary, who excitedly nods her head in eager anticipation.

Jessica:

In response, Jesus reaches out his hand and touches your heart and says Be clean, hear all of heaven, rejoice in praise of God at your salvation.

Jessica:

This is your welcome song.

Jessica:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Jessica:

Thy kingdom come.

Jessica:

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Jessica:

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

Amen, o my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Jessica:

The fourth luminous mystery is the transfiguration of Jesus, a reading from the Gospel of Luke. About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, john and James and went up the mountain to pray. While he was praying, his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white. Although Jesus took Peter, James and John up the mountain to be with them, the scripture reveals that the deeper place of their meeting was in prayer. It was while praying together that the face of Jesus changed in appearance. Jesus looked upon Peter, James and John in union with the Spirit and the Father with such love and delight that it could not be contained, bursting forth from him in dazzling white rays. God intends prayer to be a haven from the world where we can find rest, knowing we are deeply loved by a God working all things toward our eternal good.

Jessica:

As we pray this decade, imagine Jesus transfigured before you as you stand in awe of the light and love bursting forth from him.

Jessica:

Try to see his facial expression beneath the light. See in his eyes how he stands in awe of you. Remain there in your mutual beholding and allow yourself to fill with peace. You are seen, known and loved by the one who remains unchanging. This is your guarantee that all will be well. Our Father who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Jessica:

Hail Mary full of grace.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of

Jessica:

The fifth luminous mystery is the institution of the Eucharist. A reading from the Gospel of Luke. Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them, saying this is my body, which will be given for you. Do this in memory of me. And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.

Jessica:

Before Jesus extends the first Eucharist to his apostles, he breaks it. He offers his entire self, not whole and complete, but broken and shed for us. When he asks us to remember him in the Eucharist, he asks us to remember his willingness to accept heartbreak, pain and suffering for our sake. How, then, can we ever claim to be unloved? In Jesus, we have a heart willing to accompany us into the darkest places of our lives, despite the heartbreak it may cause him and heal, restore and love us into glory in those places.

Jessica:

As we pray this decade, imagine yourself beside Jesus, holding his hand, standing before that place of darkness in your life that you are so hesitant to enter. Hear him say to you Do not be afraid, I am going with you. This too will be redeemed, made radiant for the Father's glory, because you will have overcome it. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen, o my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen, hail, holy Queen, mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sigs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tear. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us and after our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, o clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, o Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ, o God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life. Grant we beseech thee that, while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen, what a gift to pray with you. Thank you, holy Spirit. Please, please count on our continued prayers, and we ask you to be praying for us too. Praise be to God.
