Jessica:

Hello and welcome to the Ponder and Magnify podcast, where our mission is to seek an encounter with Jesus through praying the Rosary, relying on the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary. I am so happy that you are here. Today, we're going to be praying the Rosary while meditating on the luminous mysteries of the Rosary. Before each decade, you'll be given something to imagine related to the mystery that we're praying. However, if the Holy Spirit leads you somewhere different as you're praying, definitely follow that prompting instead. Before we start, let's pause and reflect on what we're bringing to prayer. What is bringing you joy in this moment? What sorrows feel heavy right now? Is there anything that you're afraid of? What are you desiring? Whom do you wish to pray for? In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen, Jesus, we ask you to speak directly into our present circumstances. Mary, thank you for praying with us and for us now. Holy Spirit, please anoint the gift of our imagination so that we might come to encounter Jesus more deeply through it. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son. Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day, he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven. He is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen, our Father who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen For an increase in faith. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen For an increase in hope. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen For an increase in love. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Jessica:

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The first luminous mystery is the Baptism of Jesus. A reading from the Gospel of Matthew. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens saying this is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. When Jesus came up out of the water and heard the Father's words "his is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased, he would have been familiar with this message.

Jessica:

Imagine how many times in the thirty years of his life prior to this moment that Mary would have affirmed him: "ou are the beloved son of God. No matter what, you will always be taken care of, even when it gets hard. Trust in him, listen to him. Let his love be your security. Is there any greater love that we can show a person than to affirm them in their most fundamental identity as the child of our cherishing, merciful Heavenly Father? In such affirmation we help open hearts to the possibility of a life of freedom and joy, of a life of freedom and joy despite any circumstance.

Jessica:

As we pray this decade, imagine yourself before Mary. Hear her encouraging you with such love and tenderness in your identity as child of God and what that means for your present circumstances, just as she did for young Jesus. Feel your heart become more and more ready to accept and trust in the Father's word and love as you listen to her. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Jessica:

Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen, glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen, o, my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Jessica:

The second luminous mystery is the wedding feast at Cana, a reading from the Gospel of John. Now, there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding 20 to 30 gallons. Jesus told the servers, fill the jars with water. So they filled them to the brim. Jesus' invitation to the servers is so simple, easily within their capacities. From their obedience to his simple direction to fill the jars with water, a miracle results.

Jessica:

Our current state in life, whatever it may be, lends itself to many small tasks or ways we can extend ourselves to others throughout the day. Sometimes we can fall into waiting for the Lord to call us to something monumental and miss the call to what seems like a simple, ordinary task in front of us. However, we have a God who wishes to make himself reachable, who wishes to make it possible to serve him without being overburdened. Jesus calls the servers to fill the jars with water, which would have already been part of their job. The servers did their best, filling the jars to the brim, and it became the seedbed for a miracle.

Jessica:

As we pray this decade, ask Jesus what he is calling you to within your current state in life.

Jessica:

Rejoice in the fact that you do not need to be overburdened in taking on something new

Jessica:

for the Lord to work great things with and through you.

Jessica:

Ask Mary for the strength to fulfill the duties of your state in life and feel your heart swell with joyful anticipation at seeing what Jesus will work through your offerings.

Jessica:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Jessica:

Thy kingdom come.

Jessica:

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Jessica:

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

Jessica:

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen, o my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy, amen.

Jessica:

The third luminous mystery is the proclamation of the kingdom, a reading from the letter of St Paul to the Colossians Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. Jesus' proclamation of the kingdom is an invitation to focus on what is above, not of what is on earth. So often our prayer requests are aimed towards some resolution that we desire to be experienced on earth, either for ourselves or someone else. We can easily become highly focused on what we perceive will make us happy on earth, yet the heart of God is focused on our eternal beatitude If we are praying for some outcome that we wish to see in this earthly life. Let us remember that God wishes to give us and those we love much more than what we are asking of him. As we pray this decade, consider a recent prayer intention in your heart. Ask Jesus to help you see this prayer intention through the lens of eternal life to come. With this perspective, ask Jesus to teach you how to pray for this desire of your heart.

Jessica:

Amen Hail Mary, full of grace.

Jessica:

The Lord is with thee.

Amen, o my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy, amen.

Jessica:

The fourth luminous mystery is the transfiguration of Jesus, a reading from the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. Then from the cloud came a voice that said this is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him. When the disciples heard this. They fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying " In the Transfiguration story, god desires to pull Peter James and John from what is on earth to a focus on the heavenly reality, to come out of a great love for them.

Jessica:

Rather than delight in the privilege of beholding Jesus' transfigured face and hearing the voice of the Father, Peter James and John fall prostrate to the ground in a way seemingly clinging to the earth. God's response does not show a hint of frustration or disappointment. God does not abandon them. Instead, Jesus extends his hand to touch them and invites them to rise again. In this we witness the truth that we have a God who is willing to be patient with us.

Jessica:

As we pray this decade, consider if there are any areas in your life where you think you have frustrated or disappointed God. See Jesus extend his hand out to you in these places and speak with such tenderness: Rise and do not be afraid. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Jessica:

Amen Hail Mary full of grace.

Jessica:

The Lord is with thee.

Jessica:

Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Jessica:

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Amen, o my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy, Amen.

Jessica:

The fifth luminous mystery is the institution of the Eucharist, a reading from the Gospel of Luke. Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them, saying this is my body, which will be given for you. Do this in memory of me. And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you. What was it like for Mary to receive the Eucharist after Jesus had ascended into heaven, to remain there? Oh, how she must have longed at each moment to be ever nearer to Jesus, so much so that it felt painful. Out of this painful longing, she operated, loving each person before her for his sake, encouraging the apostles to continue on for his sake, nurturing the early church for his sake, praying for souls for his sake. What relief and consolation she must have felt in receiving the Eucharist, like a starved person, finally receiving the food they needed to continue on living. In consuming the Eucharist, Mary was physically united again with her son, receiving the nearness to Jesus she needed to continue on living. As we pray this decade,

Jessica:

Ask Mary for the grace to share in what it feels like to long so desperately to be ever nearer to Jesus.

Jessica:

Imagine what it would be like to receive the Eucharist in this spirit.

Jessica:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Jessica:

Thy kingdom come.

Jessica:

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amen Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor, banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious, advocate thine eyes of mercy toward us and, after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, o Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen, o God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life. Grant we beseech thee that, while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen, please, please, count on our continued prayers and we ask humbly for you to be praying for us. May we all be in heaven together one day. Praise be to God.
