Hello, and welcome to the Ponder and Magnify Podcast, where our mission is to seek an encounter with Jesus through praying the Rosary, relying on the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary. I am so happy that you are here. In this episode, we'll meditate on the Finding of Jesus in the Temple, the Fifth Joyful Mystery, as we pray a decade of the rosary. This is a meditation that reflects on Jesus' experience of this mystery. Before we start, let's pause and reflect on what we're bringing to prayer. What are your joys in this moment? What sorrows are you feeling right now? Do you have any fears in this moment? What are you desiring? Whom do you wish to pray for? In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Jesus, we ask you to speak directly into our circumstances. Mary, thank you for praying with us and for us now. Holy Spirit, please anoint the gift of our imagination so that we might come to encounter Jesus more deeply through it. The Fifth Joyful Mystery is the finding of Jesus in the Temple. A reading from the Gospel of Luke. Each year his parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard them were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety." And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my father's house?" But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them, and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Jesus awoke before Mary and Joseph and began to pray before even getting out of bed, just as his parents had taught him. In this ritual, he gave over his day to the Father, allowing Him to unfold it. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. "Arise and come to the Temple. Come to my house and see what I have there for you." Jesus received from the Father in prayer. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. "Yes, Father," Jesus responded. Jesus rose to wake Mary and Joseph, to let them know he was going. When the Father interrupted Jesus, "Go without waking them. Remain there, and I will lead them to you." Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Jesus responded, "Father, they will be so worried about me. I do not wish to worry them." Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. The Father saw Jesus' love for Mary and Joseph, and his reluctance to separate from them out of fear of causing them pain. The Father was pierced to the heart over his son's concern. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, amen. Watching Jesus look with love on his parents, the Father assured Jesus, "Jesus, you and I are of one heart. I love them too. Your separation will only be temporary. They will find you again in my house. I promise I will care for them as I lead them there." Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, amen. Jesus trusted in the Father. He walked over to where Mary and Joseph were sleeping and kneeled beside them. He whispered so softly so as not to wake them, "The Father is calling me to his house now, but he has promised we will see each other again. I know he will be true to his word. I love you. I'll see you soon." Jesus kissed Mary and Joseph so gently on their cheeks. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Jesus got up and went to the temple in obedience to the call of the Father. His parents had always taught him to listen for the Father's voice and obey it. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Jesus longed to be reunited with his parents, and he turned this into perpetual intercession for them, that they should join him in the Father's house. At the same time, Mary and Joseph longed to be reunited with Jesus, and they turned this into perpetual intercession for him, that he should be entirely in the care of the Father. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. And the Father looked on, witnessing their love of one another, their mutual longing for the other's good, and he shared in it all, as he anticipated the joy of their reunion in his house. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Thank you, all you heavenly intercessors, praying for this to come to be. We promise to be praying for you, and we ask you humbly to be praying for us. May we all be in heaven together one day. Praise be to God.
