India’s factoring market holds significant untapped potential. In this conversation, Deepesh Patel, Editor at Trade Treasury Payments, speaks with Ravi Valecha, CEO of India Factoring, at the FCI 58th Annual Meeting in Lisbon about the changing landscape for receivables finance and the opportunity ahead. Despite an estimated $140 billion domestic factoring market, adoption remains relatively low, leaving a substantial gap in open account finance.

The discussion explores how TReDS, regulatory reforms and Priority Sector Lending recognition are helping bring factoring further into the mainstream. Ravi Valecha shares why these developments could improve access to liquidity for MSMEs, reduce reliance on traditional lending and support India’s wider ambition to reach $2 trillion in exports by 2030. The conversation also looks at the role of FCI in supporting the growth of the sector through education, advocacy and industry expertise.
