Sickle cell disease is a group of inherited blood disorders that affect the shape and function of red blood cells. In sickle cell disease, the hemoglobin protein in red blood cells becomes abnormal, causing the cells to become rigid and crescent-shaped (like sickles)

According to damage surveys from the National Weather Service, at least five tornadoes touched down in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas yesterday. 

One tornado hit around 12:15 p.m. near Kentwood, Louisiana, with a preliminary rating of EF3, meaning 3-second gusts of 136 to 165 mph, it said. Another touched down around 1:15 p.m. near Tylertown, Mississippi, and had a rating of EF2, or gusts of 111 to 135 mph. Over 380,000 utility customers were without power across the East Coast.  

Donald Trump has ordered air strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen after threatening to "rain down hell" on them. Houthi officials claim the attacks have killed at least 53 people, including five children.
