Good morning. We're back with Riddish and Rising, and I'm Denise Jackson. And my guest today is a very special friend, Lauren Lowry, who taught. Well, I'd already danced before the Lord, but I went to a real class with her and Julie Jacobson years ago to dance before the Lord. And they just increased my freedom and my desire to choreograph to the music. And the song that we choreographed to was um uh what's the name of the song? It's the out upon the water, like you take me out upon the water or I've never heard that song. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the one. I can't remember either, but like that's one of our anchor songs. Lee and I have that anchor song, We Want to Be Out in the Deep with a Lord. And so she has really had a significant impact on my life, uh, just being friends, but also because of that um that experience. It was really a big experience for me. And at the time, I felt like I was the only one that danced before the Lord. I know that's crazy, but I just hadn't seen a lot of that. And so it was just freedom. It was freedom. And so I'm very grateful. So, Lauren, would you introduce yourself? Tell us a little bit about you and what you do and your church. And we want to hear it all.

Meet Lauren: Family And Ministry

Yeah, yeah. I'm Lauren Lowery. I lived in this Central Texas Wimberly-Saint Marcus area all my life. I've been here. Grandmother, you went to the same place as the river that I go to. I know the river that you swim in is the river I learned to swim in. And so uh we yeah, we have a lot of history together. Um, but yeah, my husband and I are going on 20 years of marriage in March. So that's awesome. And we've been in ministry together from the beginning.

And friends, that's the I mean, we have these relationships that are such strong friendships. Lee and I so are celebrating in September 52 years ago. Wow. And I don't know where that went. It goes so fast. It goes so fast. Once you have kids, it goes even faster.

Calling To Plant Sozo Church

Yes, yeah. So yeah, my my oldest are 13 yesterday. So we are experiencing growth. And yeah. So we uh fastered with my husband for the past 20 years. Uh, we just celebrated our 10-year anniversary of Sozo Church at Tusca. We you And you're gonna get a new building, and we are in finally, we've been nomadic for 10 years, you know. And I'm also an interior designer, have an interior design business, and as an interior designer, living in essentially an apartment, you know, where you can't put holes in the walls or for 10 years. Um, it has refined me. And so the this gift of a building is really just a huge personally, you know, just from my heart. Um, so yeah, God, we've seen God provide in incredible ways through this whole process.

Um that's what we want to talk about because we want you girls to know that God is not a respecter of persons, he loves you. You're his daughter. He called you before you were born, he knit you together in your mom's womb, and he sent you here for purpose. And if you trust him, he's gonna complete that purpose in your life. So we want you to know these miraculous things that have happened in our lives that he just came through. We want you to know that he'll do the same for you. Maybe not the same way, but he'll do it right. We're confident.

Yeah, it's been amazing to see God provide um a breakthrough on my behalf. Um, yeah, so I'm pastor, designer, mom of three kids, a 13-year-old, an almost nine-year-old, and a just six-year-old. We have very full life right now. Yeah, very full.

I used to say right around about that point, I think, um, I'm never gonna get out of the car. This is gonna be what I do. That's my life. And then it changed so dramatically once my oldest Jenna bec uh was 16 and she could drive, yeah, then everything started changing because then I was I'd drop one kid off and she'd pick them up. Yeah, yeah. Well, so talk to us about um like you were um uh when you all started out 10 years ago, that was like a big step to talk to him about that.

Partnership With God, Not Perfection

Yeah, we felt um we were leading um a campus in San Marcus, you know, pastoring in San Marcus, but we felt like God said, pastor a church in San Marcus. And and and you know, if you know my husband Joel, he's not wired like a manager, he is a pioneer. So he wants to be in front with the machete, choppy, chopping. And you know, well, I'm holding on for two lines.

But you know, that's why the two of you are so there's so you can also offer wisdom and say, whoa, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe not right at the beginning, but maybe. Yeah. Um, but for Lee and I, I'm the one that wants to be out there in front.

And he's like, whoa, let's just not go very much friend of him. Yeah, yeah. I would say he's the gas, I'm the brakes. But I've become more of the well, it's kind of interesting how we've, you know, I'm very gas-oriented too. So um, but yeah, so we felt like God said start a church in St. Marcus. And so we on my brother and sister-in-law's back porch with some fellow friends that your brother and sister-in-law are missionaries, they are right there overseas right now.

They're all, yeah, yeah. We are very blessed, the people that we've been surrounding.

And you were raised up in the way of the Lord, yeah. So when you were old, you definitely didn't depart from participant to the next level. Yeah.

And there were, you know, in my life when I was a teenager, I did, but you know, it's like teach the child in the way, and they won't like yeah, when they get back, yeah.

That's what I was saying, because you know, I was uh they know I was a pregnant teenager, and I got married when I was 16 and 19, and so I was a mess. But um Lee, when he was trying to convince me that yes, we should get married, he said, and he wasn't like a strong Christian, he wasn't following God in any way that I could see, but he said, Denise, if we get married, God will take care of us. And that was the moment that it's that I was swayed and we got married, and like after that, God took care of us. Yeah, he like heard Lee's choice. Yeah, that's what I'm believing. Yeah, yeah, and when he heard it, he was he said, Okay, you open the door, Lee Jackson, you're gonna follow me. Yeah, and we have so you know.

That's amazing, yeah. Really, really good. It's amazing how he covers us, yes, it does, and and that that's the thing, it's a relationship. You know, I think we think that that walking with God is this tightrope, and I need to make these decisions, and if I don't, I'm gonna fall off and I'm gonna lose his favor, or I'm gonna get out. You know, he's not true. It's not true. I really think he's looking for a partnership, he wants to build with us, and so it's a relationship, yeah. It's like I want to build this life with you, and so make these choices, and I'm gonna take you out into green pastures where I can show you my goodness, yes, and I'm gonna bless you, you know, you humbly.

And I'm also gonna bring things into your life because you're here for purpose. So you're gonna have to stand and fight in those green pastures. And if you look back in the Bible, if you read the Bible, you see where there was a lot of that. They had to fight the enemy, right? And we still have to fight the enemy because the enemy is not flesh and blood, right? It's Jesus. Yes, they are it's not Jesus, it's the devil is fighting against Jesus all the time. It's powers and principalities and rulers of darkness in high places, and we have to realize that so that we can fight. And that doesn't always mean we're gonna win either. Right because this is not our home, right? Yeah, but we're gonna make a difference with our lives, right?

And his grace and mercy that covers us as we, you know, he says, stand. You know, whatever you've done, all you can do, still stand. Yeah, yeah. Stand, yeah.

Testimonies Of Healing And Provision

And we've gone through some times, but but that's the thing. Like I was telling Lauren before we started, like somebody, uh I've said it to you guys before. Um, somebody told me you can't know God unless you ask to know God. You you have to want a relationship with him. And when you ask, he answers. And I think that's what Lee was doing in that moment. I did that at 19. I wanted to love the Lord with all my heart, and I didn't because I didn't have any tangible way to touch him. I didn't feel like that. And then he started opening up the word. When I asked, like that boring book, all of a sudden became lightning. I would open it up and it was alive, and it was for me, and it was a a word that that like I needed for that moment or that period in my life, and I started writing it down. And then we looked back, and God had performed miraculous on our behalf. So, have you had miraculous on your behalf?

SPEAKER_00 10:02

Oh, yes, I have. I mean this with us. Whenever I came back to the Lord at 19, I was in my like darkest place. I was addicted, I was far from God, I felt unworthy of love. I and he crashed in and he restored, he surrounded me with women that loved Jesus, that were a little few steps ahead of me, you know. And he used the love and grace and mercy of my friends to restore me, and he physically restored me. I um uh when I was in my early 20s, had seizures. Um, and so we don't know after brain scans, we don't know what was causing them. I have a hunch, it was chemical, mental, spiritual, you know. I think it was a whole concoction of things that was just causing my brain to just strata us. And um, and I went to to prayer um with some dear friends of ours, Kenny and Diane Tyrion. They prayed for me and I was healed. I was healed of it. Like he cried. And so that my last seizure was when I was 22 years old. I'm about to be 42. I have not had one.

20 years later. 20 years later.

And he brought Joel into your hand. And he brought Joel just healed. And then during with our second baby, we couldn't get pregnant. It took us four years to get pregnant with her, and we were in this place of do we adopt, do we, you know, what what are our options? And um Covid gave us a prophetic word through a Jack Taylor, a spiritual father of ours. And um, and he said, You will know, he gives a time, but like you'll know in three months or something. And so we thought, um You know what to do, what to do. And it turns out we actually got pregnant in three months, and praise God, and so yeah, she's a miracle baby. I've just seen God crash in in big ways, but I feel like recently in my life it's been little things, like even things that I haven't really prayed, but just had these things in my mind where questions of God and is this gonna and and he just crashes in and just I love that brings us answers, brings and sometimes he doesn't, you know.

I know what we were talking about when Ford died, my brother died. Um, I was so mad at him. And then he the answer he gave me was not the answer that I wanted. I was saying, uh, why didn't I die two years before in that car accident? But Ford did. Why didn't you heal Ford when you say you're gonna heal? Um and the answer he gave me was Ford had a job to do where he was. But that really changed my heart and my vision about heaven. Yeah. That that is our home, and here we're here on mission, but there are missions up there too. The world is different than our the our the whole being, our whole being is different than what we can understand right now. So we can't have all the answers, but I know he comes through. I have that book of remembrance, and you have that book of remembrance. So when we go through these times, it's like I remind myself of that. I know God brought that job to Lee. I know that God opened the door for me to get that job that paid off our house. I know that he healed Anthony, I know that he healed Lee from cancer. Yeah. Those are like real things in my life. So now I can walk.

Holding Faith Through Grief

Yeah. Even when I have to walk through hard things. Yeah, I think God has shown me his goodness and proven it to me over and over again that now I used to be, you know, I had these like desires in my heart or wanting to see God break through in this way. And I would have these questions of, well, are you going to? And now I have this confidence of you are. It may not look the way that I wanted it to.

And we can receive that now too. Yeah, like we committed and we we say, You're gone. Yeah. I'm not gone.

SPEAKER_00 14:00

Yeah, no matter what it is, it's gonna be good. It's gonna be good. It's gonna be good. You are going to break through and you are going to work all things for my good. That's right. That's right. That's so good. Yeah, it's so good. Yeah.

Oh, you're encouraging me, so just needed to speak the word this morning and just being in it.

Yeah, so good.

SPEAKER_02 14:18

Um, so um, you've been working on the building, and you know, the in church is church, we go through hard things, and you all have been going through some hard things, and probably won't talk about that too much, but you've had a lot on your plate. So have you had any um things that you've chosen to do to help you walk through this like overwhelming period that would help somebody else. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 14:45

If you've birthed a baby, you know that you have things in you that you never thought you had. Yeah. You realize like, yeah, oh well, I actually have a grit and a capacity that is way beyond whatever I I thought was possible. And then this infinite compassion and love when that baby comes to.

SPEAKER_02 15:05

Yes. Oh my gosh, yeah, all of that. Yeah. And you how did I get that baby out? Yeah, yeah. And how can I live without this child now? Yeah. You know, because I love her so much.

SPEAKER_00 15:15

Yeah. And I think, you know, the world offers all kinds of self-help things. You know, when you're in a hard thing, when you're under stress, you breathe this way and you do, you know, self-care. And but honestly, what I think what in this season, what I am so owning is in my weakness, he is strong. That's my answer.

SPEAKER_02 15:34

I don't need my own strength if if you give me strength. In fact, even when I don't feel weak now, that's what I'm saying. I don't want to use my own strength. Could you just be my strength?

SPEAKER_00 15:45

Because your strength is better. Yeah, yeah. It will carry me. Yeah, I mean, I find myself constantly in this place of help, Jesus. Yes, like this is more than I can, it really is more than I can handle. It is, you know, and you know, my mom all the time is like, I'm really concerned with how much you're carrying right now. And I'm like, I am too. It is a lot that we are carrying, but I know that he will not give me more than I can handle. He promises that, you know.

Prayer As Authority And First Response

SPEAKER_02 16:13

And you're not carrying, that's the whole thing. When we feel like we're carrying it, that's when we have to cast our cares upon the Lord. Yeah. Because his burden is easy, his his yoke is easy, his burden is light. Yeah, yeah. And you know, I speak the word a lot, y'all, because it's a sword. When it comes out of my mouth, it's cutting asunder the things the enemy is trying to do. And not just in our lives, but your lives. As you're listening, if you'll speak that word for yourself, do it. Because you are you're mighty with that word of God in you. But on the whole armor, but don't forget the sword. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It is so I find myself, you know, it's hard whenever you're juggling a lot for your mind to be present with the word, or but I I find myself like hungry. I'm like, yes, I need truth, I need something to encourage me. I need, I need to cling to you in this moment because because it is the life for me. It really is feeding me, like I'm going to starve if I don't have it. Um but yeah, it's um it's so good.

That's so good. Yeah, I like put on praise music, and some days when I'm feeling really rotten and and kind of I don't want to, and I'll keep hearing just put on praise music and I'm like, Just be with me. I'm just not interested in that. And then I put on praise music immediately. Yeah. So that just reminds me, you know, as long as I've been walking to this earth, I still can get really weak and and self-focused and listening to the wrong voices. Yeah. But as soon as I put on praise, as soon as I get in the word, as soon as I start speaking back to God about what's going on, the devil flees. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's tangible. You're in it and you're like, oh, what happened? Yeah. I know what happened, but you'd think that I would then just run to it, but I don't always run to it. Sometimes I I wait and sit in my pity party for way too long.

Yeah, yeah. And it and carrying it. Once you break, once you feel that breakthrough, you're like, why did I bring away? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Surviving Overwhelm: Weakness And Strength

SPEAKER_02 18:33

It's not funny. It's it's it's uh it's a mechanism that Satan likes to use in the earth to to get us down, to get us confused, to get us depressed. And uh we can listen to how the world would tell you to break it. I mean, it's good to breathe because you're breathing in God. Use our breath, yeah, yeah. And if you recognize that, that's good. But the world does not have the answer. The answer is God and His Word and Jesus' redemption for us and Holy Spirit power within us. He didn't give us a spirit of fear, he gave us a spirit of power. He says that first, yeah. Power and then love and a sound mind. Yeah, we have to have that Holy Spirit power before we can even do anything. But we have to open ourselves to receive in those times when the world seems like it's crushing in. Yeah.

And I think you know, the sound mind, you know, because sometimes I think whenever you're going through a hard season stress, you can almost think, am I going crazy? Am I you know, like because that's right, so much, you know, it's those voices that will bombard you. Yeah, you don't you don't need time with God, you don't have time for that, or you know, and and going back to that. No, I have a sound mind. Yes, you know, like in that song sells something like praise music, it does, it's that meditation, it's the repeating of yes, the word I have a sound mind. I no, this is what is true about me, you know.

Word And Worship As Warfare

So I don't know if you saw Shannon uh Tyson, she was on uh the show um and she was talking about um when she went through cushions so long, you know. And you know, I just have to say, 10 years is interesting because like we just went to this uh thing at our church uh where they did um and we go to Cybers Creek Church and I love my church. Um, but they did not get their building, their first building until 10 years. Interesting. And then Shannon went through 10 years of this fighting uh cushions, and then they told her her brain was dying. What was that? Uh when your cells start to die. Um anyway, they were dying, her cells were dying. And she and I started praying that prayer. And she was saying, and God healed me. And so I was like, Yes, say the word, I got to be part of that miracle. And he did. I mean, we knew that because like she was like really confused, she couldn't remember things, she was really having some problems, and they had confessed. And they're just doctors, you know, they're not trying to be cursors, they're trying to heal, right? But they said this to her that her brain was gonna die. And we did I just said that's not a good report. Yeah, we don't use that, yeah, and so we prayed uh that verse of what God gave us. That's the truth. We have to hold on to the truth, even when the lies are surrounding us. But I'm telling you, girls, it'll change your life. You will see the power of God while you walk through this earth, you will see it, and you will get the chance to even be part of laying hands on the sick and they will recover, or praying for financial burdens to be lifted and they'll go, or a home, or or something across the world, somebody in a battle, and you got up in the middle of the night to pray, and they called and said, Were you praying last night? Because this is what happened. Wow, you know, yeah, there's so much we don't understand, but what we can count on is the word of God is the truth, yeah. And we can lean in and hold on to that.

Yeah, and yeah, that's good. Yeah, I mean, I think for me, something that shifted significantly was you know, we can pray and see God move, but What made it so personal and really gave, I think, me authority was seeing myself as God sees me. Seeing actually the authority that I carry as his daughter.

Like even as a for all human. Yes. Because she is the Holy Spirit.

So I it's like I know the thoughts I have, I know the struggles I have, but yet who I am because of the blood of Jesus, because of his Holy Spirit in me, like my prayers are not just empty words. They actually are shifting atmospheres, they are creating worlds. They pull good down and bad the snow holes.

Kick them into the sea. And like prayer, people will say, Oh, I'll pray. Don't do that anymore, first of all. Say, I'll pray and pray. And do it. Do it right then. But prayer is not the least you can do. Because I've heard people say that. Oh, it's the least I could do. It's not, it's the most you can do. And yeah, you can feed somebody who's hungry and feed their spirit and help them get out from under um um the burdens of debt and and lack of abilities and equip them. We can do all of that, but the best we can do, the first thing we should do is be praying. And all through we should be praying. Yeah. And as we pray, and not our own words, because our words aren't the sword, the word of God is a sword, and it cuts as under the work of the enemy in their lives. So imagine what you could do, girls, if we would pray, and it says in the Bible, the women prayed, and when they prayed, kings of armies flee. They fleed, and the women divided the spoil. It's good, it is good. And you guys, this is for 2026. That's me. I mean, that's I am all in, I've been all in, but I've even been all in more. We are praying, we are praying for mighty works of God in this earth because that's what we need. Yeah, if you're worried about stuff in the earth, don't worry about it. You haven't been given a spirit of fear, yeah, but you have been given power, love, and a sound mind. Yeah, and and God does give you boundaries to pray for, but I also know when he shows you something across the world that you may never know you impacted. If you pray, it matters.

Ten-Year Trials And Miracles

You know, I love doing these podcasts and we talk about a lot of things, but it's so good when another girl that loves God's word and it's always coming out of her mouth. When we get together, it's like fire. Yeah. I love that so much. It's so good. So I hope a lot of you are getting blessed today because this is for you. Tell me about like, do you have any dreams and visions for the next year that you just feel like God's put in your heart that you're willing to, you know, yeah, speak, or and that's okay if you're not wanting to speak it.

God gave me a picture last year of what the end of my life will look like. And it was me standing at a king's shoulder um and looking back at my life and him saying to me, look at what we built together. I am a builder, I'm a visionary.

Oh, yeah, I've loved watching your you've you've had videos of do you have a podcast? I well, not yet. Not yet. But you have got videos on Facebook that I have watched as you redid that house and the pool and all of that as a family. Yes.

That was pretty cool. That's kind of mine and Joel's story. You know, we my my kingdom calling is to take people in place well, a brooding mother that takes people and places from potential to beautifully alive.

Um, God gave that to me five years ago, clarified. This is what you're called to do, and and it, and it has to do with pastoring and it has to do with design and restoring building. My heart is to see cities restored. I love to see every street thriving and a stream and living out their purposes. And um, and so you know, I've been in San Marcus, Texas, since I was three years old. So 39 years, and my vision for this season really is to see that city thrive, to see um strongholds brought down, to um to see reputation shift, you know, from oh, I love that party city to to one on fire for the lore. One on fire for the more.

Yes, yeah. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah.

This is not the place that people come to just use and party and display.

But to grow and you know, out of it, you already know so many stories, so do I, of people who have come to party. Yeah, and their lives have been transformed and they serve the Lord's gladness. Yeah, yeah. It's my story, it's yours, it's Jose's, our pastor's, it's Joel's. It's like there's so many stories of uh going through college and really being revived. And that is really what we yeah, that's our hope for people, though. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's cool. I love that vision, and we'll pray some more for that and just do that. Thank you. Uh, do you have anything that you would like to uh any advice you'd like to pass down or pass out to women today that maybe you've learned that could really help them? Yeah.

Give to the world who you are. You know, I think as women, um we there's there's so much comparison, there's so much, but but she does this, and how does she do that? And but look at her, and I'm not that. And and I I think that if we would truly just embrace who God created us to be and to not resent those little quirks about us, yeah, they're the defining things that make us unique and remember he made us together, he breaked us, we're supposed to be who we're who we are.

Yeah, yeah, and that that's so good. You know, if we could teach our youngest girls that as they're going through middle school, yeah, high school, yeah. Be who you are and don't worry about what other people say or think, yeah, because it's okay.

Yeah, I think don't live in response to the world, but live in response to who God says yes are. I love that. You know, and just I think for me, really the past 20 years has been me really healing, recognizing the world hurts. Yes, you know, things are said to us, done to us in childhood that we can either live in response to and live all of our adult lives trying to avoid it, ignore it, stuff it, act like it didn't happen. But when we really do come face to face with those where we're marred, yes, you know, and say that hurt me. I it hurt me that I could never break through the line of whenever we would play red rover, I was a I was not a strong little girl. I wasn't athletic. I, you know, and so like I was never chosen to be on teams or and recognize like this that little thing, like that how the enemy came in and said, Yeah, you're not worthy, your team. You're not strong, they don't notice you. You know, those lies that take in our life.

Vision To Restore A City

That's a big lie. And it it could come through Red Rover, yeah, it can come through so many places, but that's the enemy's voice that says, You aren't worthy, you are nothing. Right, and I'm here to tell you today you are worthy. Yeah, you we are here to tell you today you're worthy, you're worthy. Your father created you for a purpose, he loves you with this everlasting love, he's your ever-present help. Yeah, in time of need, he is not gonna leave you or forsake you, no matter what you face. And he's gonna use you to restore soul mean, he's gonna use your life as a light in the darkness. Just turn and seek his face. And if you don't know this word, it's not in you, please listen. Yeah, it's time. Get the word buried in your heart so it starts coming out of your mouth, and so you are making a difference in the lives of your family and your generations and your friendships and your community, just like your vision. I love that vision. Restoring um say Marcus, restoring it. I love that, and I have faith that God has planted you and Joel there just for that purpose. So it's gonna be good.

Yeah, it's gonna be so good. Yeah, yeah. I think it's embracing God's healing, that's it, restoration in our own lives, and then giving it to the world. Yes, you know, that desperately needs it.

Yes, yeah, praise God. And I feel like I he had he's still talking to me about stony areas in my heart that he's having to that I have to be willing to let go of. We have to be willing, yeah. But once we're willing, he does the work. I don't even have to do anything about it. And those stony places are replaced with a heart of flesh. And even through this podcast, y'all, like we talk about such deep things in the world that are wrong. And as we are, he's saying, Okay, there's a little pebble still, can I pull it out? Yes. Now use me, Lord, because my heart of flesh needs to hurt for these things. I it's not bad that we are so hurt and offended by the evil in the world. That's what we're supposed to be. And instead, we put this little um stoned place, harm place in our heart that says, no, I'm not gonna let that in anymore. It hurts too bad. And that's not who God is, and that's not who we are.

Yeah, yeah, he does, and he replaces those hard parts with compassion, with love. And then what's amazing is that you then have authority in that area. That's right. You know, when I have unforgiveness and I deal with it and I forgive, I then have authority to restore relationships. Yes, I then have authority to lead people, I then have authority to parent my children because I'm living from this place of forgiveness and humility. Yeah, that's so good. And then it releases us into our purpose into our calling.

Let your hand be with them and keep them from sin so they don't cause harm. Father, I just thank you that um you teach them both that uh again and again, because we need this to there are seasons of rest. And when that season is there, just to wait on you and you're gonna accomplish your purposes in your perfect time. And there are seasons to go. And when you speak the word go, give them strength and courage to go and face whatever is ahead because you're with them.
