Let's talk about crystals!

Join me in this episode for a little look into one of my most favourite topics - crystals!  Crystals absolutely fascinate me - and not even from an energetic perspective. The idea that something so colourful, complex and beautiful can be created in the Earth just blows my mind.

If ever there was a reminder of the absolute wonder of this Earth, this Universe, crystals are it.  

I talk about what crystalsare, how they are formed, why cleansing them is so important (plus my absolute favourite way of cleansing them that you may never have heard of before!), and how to use your intention to charge them.

Hello and welcome back to the Everyday Fein Shui podcast. Today I am ridiculously excited to talk to you about one of my favourite topics in the world, which is crystals. I absolutely love a crystal. Some of you may have seen from my Instagram stories when I take photos of my um crystals that I set out during a full moon. It's quite an obscene collection that I have, but I love them all. And what is even more exciting for me is that I have just placed my very first order for crystals for me to use as part of my business, which I am so so excited about. So this is going to be a super quick sort of semi-crash course in crystals, why I love them so much, and some basics about them, and then I'm going to tell you a little bit more about what I'm going to do with them with my business going forward. What's wild to me is that crystals are essentially liquid. So they form when liquids cool and they start to harden, and then the molecules that they're surrounded by sort of gather in that liquid and they kind of range themselves into this repeating pattern and then they harden. And it's a bit like you know, you think about magma when you've got a um a volcano that's exploded, but the liquid basically draws in the elements and the minerals from whatever is surrounding it, and that's how the crystal begins to form. So if you think about diamonds, for example, they are a crystal form of carbon, and they are created with this high temperature and high pressure. And it's thought this is this is the bit that blows my mind, right? It is thought that diamonds take between one and three billion years to grow. One to three billion years, and the oldest crystal to be found on earth is a crystal code called, I don't know if I'm pronouncing it right, zircon, which is thought to be 3.3 billion years old. I mean it's just mind blowing, absolutely mind-blowing, and this is why I love crystals so much, because I feel like they are the truest form of kind of natural substance. They have been around for so long and they're straight from the earth, and I and I I just love that. It's about it's kind of the closest thing we can get to being, you know, in the middle of the earth, and I just think they're just so cool. Not only are they like beautiful, beautiful to look at. When I kind of roll one in my hands and I think, you know, one isn't it out it just again, how many times do you think? Let's take a bet. How many times am I gonna say mind-blowing in this podcast today? But it is mind-blowing to me that something that is created just in the ground can be so unbelievably beautiful. Like I'm sitting here and I'm looking at a um, I've got this gorgeous malachite on my desk, and it is this it's a mixture of this deep green and this slightly lighter kind of almost turquoisey green, and it's just got the most beautiful ribbons through it, and I just find it incredible that that is just created, it just becomes, and I think if ever there is a reminder that you know, in this world that we live in and all of the bad things that happen, you know, we are constantly being dragged in and reminded about bad things and bad stuff, and I think you know, what a beautiful reminder, if ever there was one, that such beauty can exist within that. So, with crystals, they are said to absorb the energy from the people and the places that they have been before they have reached you. So, obviously, these crystals are mined from the earth, they then are you know involved in the trade of crystals, they travel to wherever they're going, and then wherever they are packaged, obviously, there are people handling them before they eventually make it to you. So, the best course of practice for crystals is to cleanse them before you use them because you want them to be rid of anything that they have picked up along their life so far. So, a beautiful way to cleanse crystals is in rain water or flowing natural water. This, as long as your crystal um, if we think about something like um selenite or any other crystal that ends in ITE, we don't cleanse them in water because they can be water soluble, so we don't want our crystals to crumble. But for anything that is a bit more robust and not water soluble, rain water and natural flowing water is truly one of my most favourite ways of cleansing and recharging my personal crystals. I love to take them to a beautiful river, I take them to the beach with me and make sure I put them in a mesh bag, don't lose them in the sea. Truly going to go back to their to their earth otherwise. So I just think that's such a lovely way of cleansing them because that is in nature how they would be cleansed. You know, I often think about the stones on the riverbed, for example, are just being tumbled around and constantly washed. So that's how I love to do it. But the most common way that you probably will have seen is cleansing your crystals under the moonlight, or usually a full moon, but to be honest, moonlight um any moonlight is fine, but the full moon obviously we've got such uh this incredible um energy under full moon, so that's a really lovely way of doing it. Another really, really great one is um actually in the bright sunshine or stormy weather. Stormy weather is incredible for um cleansing crystals because it's all that kind of natural moving energy, it's all just fab. Another way that um doesn't rely on you being somewhere else, and it doesn't rely on the lunar cycle, is cleansing your crystals with smoke. So, whether that be from incense or from sage, you light your incense or lighting your sage, obviously being careful. Let's put that disclaimer in this now, and then you hold the crystal within that smoke whilst it's burning, and it's a really again, it's a it's a lovely kind of ritualistic way that of cleansing your crystals. So once we cleanse them, we want to charge them, and the best way of charging a crystal is with the power of yourself, so it's to hold the crystal in your hand, and it is to have a conversation with it, ask it for the support that you want with the area that you want support with. So, you know, we can go, and it's beyond the scope of my knowledge, it's beyond the scope of today's podcast for sure. But there are different crystals that do different things and they support different things, and it's all about their vibrational frequency. So, everything, literally everything, you know, if you're listening to this on a pair of headphones, your headphones, the plastic of those headphones, everything vibrates at a certain frequency, and crystals are no different, and because they're from the earth, they have obviously a beautiful vibration, and it is those vibrational frequencies that are that kind of um suggest loosely as to what what each crystal is um supportive of. I say loosely because crystals are a funny thing, and I think they choose you. And I know loads of people say the same thing is that you're just drawn to one, and it and you may not even know what it does. You may just look at it and think it's just absolutely stunning. And for me, it was a bit like that with this this malachite. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of green, as in it doesn't, you know, it doesn't do anything for me, but the malachite crystal is just I had it it had to come, it had to be with me, it had to come home with me. I've also got an enormous um amethyst kind of rough cluster that looks like it has quite literally just been mined out of the earth, and again, I've got no idea really why you know I didn't feel the need that I needed um the power of an amethyst, so to speak, but it was just this one particular crystal that I was so so drawn to it, and I couldn't really there was no other op it's it sounds so silly, but there was no other option, it had to come with me, and it sits on my desk, and you know, she's just she's just absolutely beautiful to look at. So I truly believe that crystals choose you, so don't get hung up on this crystal does that and this crystal does that. If you are in a shop that sells, you know, responsibly sourced crystals, and crystals that you are sure are um you know authentic and true and natural, then just be drawn. That's an amazing place to start with them. We don't need to start with all the books and all of the knowledge, we just have to be drawn to something because that's again that's that energetic frequency. So, in an attempt to not make this really really long for you, I'm just going to run through a little bit about how my amazing order that I've just made that I am so excited about, I have created a box, a box of loveliness, and it is called the Home Harmony Kit. And I'm so excited about it. So, within this beautiful box, there is going to be an amethyst, a clear quartz, a rose quartz, a selenite, a citrine, a black tourmaline, and a pyrite. I think that's all of them off the top of my head, and also a gorgeous um white sage smudge stick as well. And I'm so excited for that because I feel like it's a great starting point for people who want to introduce crystals into their life but who also want to use those crystals in accordance with Feng Shui. So I have chosen the clear quartz, for example, especially for the centre of your home. I've chosen the citrine for the um south area, which is your fame and your reputation. It's all about joy and just absolute beautiful things like that. I've chosen a rose quartz for your love and marriage area, I've chosen a pyrite for your southeast area for your wealth and prosperity. So I've kind of gone with not a crystal for every area because that would be almost impossible to do because it's so um because things like your west area that are covering different things, you know, new beginnings, fertility, etc. etc. There are crystals that cover, there's too many crystals to choose from to make it so it can be so it can be relevant to everybody. But I have chosen the ones that I feel are an amazing starting point. Oh, and black tourmaline, did I say that? So we've got a black tourmaline in there as well for the entrance of your home, so that we can you know protect your home from any negative energy that's coming inside. So, yeah, I've given some real thought to what I feel is a great starting point for people who want to use crystals to support their feng shui and to support their manifestations and um all of those just beautiful kind of interlinking topics, really. So the order has been placed for the crystals, the order has been placed for the packaging. So I am only going to release 10 of these boxes to start with. So there's only going to be 10 available initially. They are going to be um, I'm not going to um have the boxes branded yet, I'm just going with plain boxes for now as a starting point because what I want to do is to have essentially 10 testers, 10 testers to receive these beautiful kits and to provide me with feedback. What do you love? What do you feel needs to change, what would be a nice touch, or you know, all of those things that for me are really really helpful because I've put it together on in my world and knowing what I know and the way that I would use it, but that's not necessarily the way that it will be received, and it's really important to me to make sure that I'm offering something that people will find useful ultimately. So there is going to be 10 of them available, they're going to be at a lower price than they will be when they are set up and ready to go and when they're finalised. So I emailed out to my email subscribers at the beginning of this week, and there was a mock-up of what roughly what is in there and what it will look like. Um, and honestly, it just seeing it well not really come to life because it wasn't the exact version that will come out, but seeing a version of it come to life is just just so so ridiculously exciting. So, yes, there'll be 10 of them available initially. So I am expecting there to be a lot more than 10 people who are interested, but I am only going to have 10 available. So, what I will do is from the people who register their interest, when I have got everything here and I have packaged everything and I'm happy with it, I will then put um ten of these beautiful kits onto my website ready for sale, and once it's all ready to go, I will send an email that says to this to the group of people that are interested that says they're ready to purchase, and it will be a case at that point, it will be a case of first come, first served. Um so if you want to potentially be one of the ten or have the chance to be one of the ten to get them at the reduced price, then you need to be on that waiting list essentially. Um, and then yes, your feedback, your testimonials, all of those really beautiful things that are helpful. Um we will then go forward and make beautiful branded boxes and all of the glorious things that go into making things just super extra special rather than just beautiful, you know. I I want them to be extra extra special. So, yes, I will pop that link below. That is my wishing. I mean, I could talk about crystals genuinely. I could talk about crystals possibly all day. I mean, I think, yeah, mostly all day. So I'm not going to do that to you today. I'm hoping at some point to um to be able to invite somebody who can tell you much more about them on a much more expert level than I can because I am a fan, I'm not an expert. Um, so at some point I would really like to be able to do that and be able to offer you some um deeper understanding of these most amazing stones that I have scattered all around my house, and I'm sure some of you do too.
