Welcome And Why Feng Shui

SPEAKER_00

Hello, I'm Rachel. You could say I'm a modern-day Feng Shui consultant here to help you transform your home into a space that truly supports and uplifts you. My passion is showing you how to work with your home to unlock its full potential. I'm here to show you how to tap into the power that your home holds and make this powerful practice simple, accessible, and something everyone can use. Hello and welcome back to the Everyday Feng Shui podcast. I am excited to talk to you today. There's been so many things this week where I have thought, you know, I really want to talk about this, or I've tried to make it into a reel, I've tried to talk all my stories about it, but every time I have gone to kind of film and talk about it, I just I get a bit too a bit too deep into it for the short form version of social media. So I'm going to talk to you about it today on

Palm Reading Insights And Curiosity

SPEAKER_00

here. Obviously, last week we had Michelle, our palm reading expert. The number of messages I've had from people saying they didn't realise that palm reading that was palm reading. And neither did I, neither did I. It was mind-blowing to me, and absolutely is something that I'm going to look to do as sort of part of my process, I think, for 2026 and beyond, really, because yeah, wildly, wildly fascinating. So I guess what I wanted to speak today about is so many people, you know, when somebody says to me, Oh, what do you do? And I say, Oh, I'm a fang trade consultant, they're like, Oh, that's a bit interesting. Like, what does that mean? And what does that do? And then we have a little conversation about it, and I explain that it's about energy and the flow of energy, and how if energy is stuck in our homes, then it can kind of show up in the big wide world as to things that we get stuck in outwardly, and that you know, it can either help us get to where we want to go in life or it can kind of hold us back a bit.

Explaining Energy And The Home

SPEAKER_00

And then some people are like, uh-huh, and that's the end of the conversation. Other people dig a bit deeper, and the people that dig a bit deeper quite often say, Why is it important? Like, why why? Why do you why do you do it? And and the thing that I have been attempting and failing to talk about on social media this week, and I do need to find a way of doing it because that is where you know like reaches a lot of people, is the weight of, and I've talked about this before, and I talk about it regularly, is the weight of the

The Weight On Modern Mothers

SPEAKER_00

mud the modern mother. So maybe you are a well, you might not be a mother, but this is who I um what you know mums and women are the people that I tend to talk to in my messaging most regularly because I am one, I am a mum, I understand, you know, all of the things that we're juggling in this uh current age, and you know, it's genuinely, genuinely my passion to help lift mothers. So before this, I was a newborn photographer and I went into photograph into photography because I was good at it, basically. That's I was I was a good photographer. I had an eye for it and I could make pretty pictures, but I learned quite quickly that actually my kind of the reason that I loved it so much wasn't because of the pretty pictures of the babies that I could take, it was because when I got mums involved, I could show them, you know, you know what it's like when you come out of the other side of having had a baby, you lose this entire version of yourself. And I was able quite easily to show women their strength, their beauty, what they had achieved, and in that space of being face to face with them, there was an opportunity for me to be a shoulder to crun, not be a shoulder-to-crown, that's not the right term, but to allow them space to be honest and truthful about how they were feeling. You know, I remember vividly having having had my own children. People would say, How are you? and you'd be like, Oh yes, it's all wonderful. And I didn't want that, I didn't want that, I didn't that my photography style was very raw, and I wanted, and I still, that's the way I connect with people in honesty and rawness and wearing your heart on your sleeve. So I have, for as long as I can remember being a mother's mother, I am, but people used to call me all the time, an earth mother. And it's still a completely different business, but still my driving factor is helping women and mothers

From Photography To Lifting Women

SPEAKER_00

feel better in a world that is seemingly set up to put an awful lot of weight onto our shoulders and that, you know, and to make us feel bad about ourselves. And my gosh, this is probably a podcast for another time, isn't it? Like talking about growing up in the 90s and you know, the beauty standards that we were fed as young girls and young women in that era, the eight in the 80s, 80s and 90s. 90s was particularly bad, I think, you know, and just we're all stuffed. We were told very, very, very, very early on in our lives that it didn't really matter what we did or how we did it, we were not good enough. And I think that is something that is so prevalent, certainly in my generation of women and mothers. And I suppose that, yeah, that's my driving factor is is lifting these this community of women and showing that there is another way, and that other way doesn't have to look like all the things that we're told. It doesn't have to mean. I mean, I might get up at 5am, but it doesn't have to mean you get up at 5am. You don't have to plunge yourself into an ice bath if you don't want to. Like, there are other ways that is not all about hustle and grind and achievement and boom, boom, boom. It can be softer, you know, it could there can be a nicer route, a more a route that is way more in touch with our like divine femininity and going back to the roots of you know the the feminine. So, yeah, that's kind of my my driving factor. And then going on from that, what I was thinking about in the week, and it kind of came to me on Monday morning, and when I say I've been thinking about this for a week, genuinely the full sort of Monday to Friday week, it came to me on Monday morning, and before I talk about it, I know that I am generalizing at this point, and there will be people that do not either live this experience or it might look completely different to them, and this is not anti-men and it is not anti my husband or anything like that. It is just it's just a reflection of the way that the world is and set up and works. So Monday morning, my my daughter she gets up very early and they leave to go to swimming at five o'clock in the morning. So she's off out of the house, and on a Monday morning, I am at home with my boys, so

90s Standards And Not Enoughness

SPEAKER_00

I get up early and I take some space for doing some journaling, and I have my cup of tea, and many of you will see on Instagram that I say hello to you all very early in the morning over on there, and then by about six o'clock, so I've done a bit of housework, and then by six o'clock, I was logging on to do a workout. So I do my workouts at home. I am more than happy with that, and that is absolutely my choice. But it came to me as I was, I was trying to do my workout. Both of my boys were then awake, so I had two children around my feet. I then had the dog around my feet, then I was trying to kind of they were the boys were trying to sort out this new tortoise. Again, if you don't follow me on Instagram, we've managed to acquire ourselves a tortoise. That's a whole other story. My son is just the absolute king, it would seem, at manifesting. So somehow we've got this tortoise. So I'm trying to do my workout, and the boys are trying to sort out the tortoise, but they still need a bit of guidance and help on like what they're doing because we're brand new to tortoise ownership, we've never had one before. I've got the dog on my mat, and I'm trying to like do squats with the dog thinking it's his dog bed. And I was kind of laughing to myself, thinking here I am as a mum, trying to work towards my health and fitness goals alongside my children, you know, with them around my feet and all of those sorts of things, and alongside my home. And my husband, yes, he has obviously taken our daughter to swimming, but he's gone for a run out on the roads. She's in the pool, she's looked after, he's gone for a run around the roads, and then he's gone into the gym at the sports centre where she swims. And it kind of, and I and it I genuinely was laughing. I wasn't cross or anything like that, but it I was sort of chuckling to myself because I was thinking, you know, I'm working towards my goals as the mum alongside my children, and he's working towards his goals independently of them. And then it kind of made me think on a bigger scale that that is actually often, not always, before anybody comes to me. It's not always the way, but often it's the way. So, you know, I am trying to launch, run, operate my business, which is still in its infancy, and you know, I'm so unbelievably lucky that it's successful, and it was the same with my photography business. I've never yet launched a business that hasn't been successful, and I'm so wildly thankful for that. However, in saying that, I have to give myself kudos sometimes, and I'm not very good at

Softer Paths To Progress

SPEAKER_00

it because I am doing that, I'm working towards that goal of running this business and you know, making this difference in people's lives and spreading this message, and you know, those success goals, if that's what you want to call them, that career goal, I'm doing that alongside my children and alongside my home. So I don't go out to work, I work at home. And you know, in fact, we had this conversation with my husband only a couple of days ago, was that the whole driving force behind my career shift was my son, and that me trying to keep appointment times with photography clients and things was becoming really, really stressful during the period of time where my son just wasn't able to go to school, and his mental health was really in quite a poor place, and he had to be my priority, so it became really obvious that I needed to be able to work in a really, really flexible, kind of remote fashion. So that was the driving force behind it. So I think you know, I so I'm saying what I'm saying, knowing that it's a choice. I know that it's a choice for me to work around my children. However, you know, my husband, as I say, we're so we're so lucky that he has this incredible, stable job and he's successful at what he does, but he does that away from his responsibilities mostly, not entirely, not completely, but mostly away from his

Monday Morning Realisation

SPEAKER_00

responsibilities as a father. So he you know clocks in and clocks out of his workday, whereas I am 90% of the time, if not more, probably let's call it 98% of the time, I am the default go to. So it will be me that does the school runs, for example. So my workday is already down by let's say three hours, because you know, an hour and a half, well, maybe not two and a half hours, so you can cut that out there. And if if a if somebody phones from school, for example, it's my number at the top of the list. And I think what I was like pondering for this for this week was as this generation of women that are trying to do all of the things, and you know, there's that meme that goes around, isn't there, that we're trying to raise a family like we don't work, and we're trying to work like we don't raise a family. And uh when you kind of look at it as a whole, I go back to that question of why is this so important to you? And the reason it is so important to me is because if I am the person who is trying to work towards all of my goals, like health goals, business goals, finance goals, I'm working towards all of those goals alongside my other job of being a mum. And if I am going to succeed without burnout, if I am going to succeed without stress, if I am going to succeed and also still be able to show up as a mum in the capacity that I I want to be able to, I need something to support me in that process. You know, you can have the most supportive husband in the world or partner, you know, you can have a cleaner, you could have all of those things. But unless you have got a personal assistant who is going to take care of, you know, your food planning, your food shopping, your cooking, all of the things, the doctor's appointments, the dentist's appointments, keeping tabs on every single school, different, you know, dress day and all that kind of stuff, I think you're never gonna you're never gonna escape the pressures of modern day womanhood, and then you're trying to obviously work towards your goals at the same time. So for me, I have to have something that is a bit like my booster, you know, the thing that absorbs the extra frustrations that come, absorbs the stress that comes, and what feels like for me gives me a bit of a leg up and a push in the right

Working Goals With Kids Versus Solo

SPEAKER_00

direction. And there are so many things, like I talk about it all the time. There are so many parts of Feng Shui that have changed my life, and you know, initially it was all around my son and his diagnosis, and we suddenly got all the support and this, that, and the other, which was really important and really helpful, and then it was around my husband's well, actually, no, then it was around my own career change and my own career pivot where we knew that we needed to make a change before he heads off to high school, potentially or not potentially, who knows what's going to happen there. So, you know, me finding, me saying, from me saying this isn't working as a career as a photographer, and I cannot go out to work and be relied upon in timings by anyone, you know, for an appointment at 9am, for example, um, to to registering to retrain and to launching my business was less than six months. And I didn't even know that you could really be, I didn't, I just didn't know that well, obviously I knew you could be a fame train consultant, but I didn't know, had no concept at the point where I was thinking this isn't working, to how I would it wasn't even on my radar. So within a six month period, I had done a complete 180 on my career and retrained and launched and launched this podcast. My husband then got um a promotion and was successful in that. And then since putting in all the new remedies for this year, so this year's focus for me was on helpful people because I know that I'm spinning a lot of plates and I need people to help me, and a lot of the time it's when you're working at self-employed, as many of you will know, you know, you don't chat GPT is basically the only person you can have a bit of a backward and forward about or forward on because there's no that you don't have colleagues to bounce things around with, and so my kind of focus for my my intentions as I put my remedies in for this year was to have more

Building A Business Around Family

SPEAKER_00

helpful people around me that could help me make sense of all of the ideas that are in my mind and be able to kind of help me make that into something that I can communicate and talk about. And I have just been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of women that I know in sometimes the same circle, sometimes not the same circle, who have just been so unbelievably helpful, and and that's why it's important, and that that right there is why it's important, and why I would I just wish, I just wish there was a way that I could get this to every single mother out there. I genuinely, if there was a way of me doing that, and you know, my absolutely wonderful kind of mentor Kimberly Gallagher, she uses the affirmation or the intention, show me, and actually I think that is something that I'm gonna lean into a little bit more. You know, show me how I can get this to make such a difference to so many people because I know it, because I know it because I've lived it, you know. And the problem is that we live in this world now where we are so consumed by social media and flashiness of life, and there is somebody that I follow in particular, absolutely phenomenal at what they do, but uh and I love watching and sort of learning what I can, but their lifestyle and their life is so far removed from anything that I have ever experienced that I don't connect, like I can't connect, so I won't really ever be their client. Although much I much enjoy watching their to a degree watching their content, they are so far removed from my version of existence that I can't see how I would benefit from working with them because I don't believe that they're gonna understand what it's what my life is like, you know. It's just something that I think I it's really lovely to watch, but you don't you don't get it, you don't get it, and this is kind of where I feel like I fit into this Feng Shui circle is that I am living it, I'm living it with you, like I am living alongside you, doing the things that we're

Why Home Support Matters

SPEAKER_00

you know, we're doing it all together. And I know because I've had the I know because I've been there, I know because my life still like my life isn't perfect, and anybody that professes that their life is perfect is lying because it's just not, but there are things in my life that are never gonna change, like you know, there are there are tricky aspects to my home life and my family life that are never gonna change, and that is why I know this stuff works because it has literally changed the way that we live in our home together, so yeah, it's it's really important to me for that, and so much so that I have gone on to do another level of training. So I'm currently doing or studying towards my feng shui mastery, and it has been mind-blowing. Like I am I'm like a kid in a sweet shop all over again. It's so fascinating. So, what I'm learning at the moment is kind of, you know how I often talk about feng shui as an onion, and we've got all of these layers, and the the top layer of your onion is your decluttering and your cleaning, so that we can um we can make the energy that is in your home flow as well as possible, and that's like your surface level feng shui, and then you've got the next level, which is working with like the blueprint energy of your home, so things like um what element it is and whether it's in any locks, energetic locks, and things like that, and that's kind of your your mid-level of your onion, and then you go into the remedies, which are that deep level feng shui, so where we're actually shifting and changing the energy in your house, so you you might be activating it, you might be absorbing it, you might be grounding it down ever so slightly. So you're actually kind of adjusting the energetic tone of your home with these energies, with these remedies, sorry. And so the the level that then the level that now I'm going into is the layer sort of beneath that. So, like we're not even at the middle of the onion because there's so many layers of Feng Shui, and there's so many different ways that you can kind of interact between the different energies and things, but you know, I'm now into that kind of core of the onion, and I just it's so powerful. I've come probably what I'm a

Feng Shui As The Quiet Booster

SPEAKER_00

quarter of the way through this training now, and I've had my own sort of epiphany. So when you do the training in this work, obviously I I use my own home as kind of my base point because as I'm learning, that's that's I know what that feels like in my own home. And it's just it's made me see. So I'm a quarter of the way through, that's it. And I already can see the energy in my home, my own home, in a completely different way. And I am so beyond excited about what this means for people that I work with and how I can work with people. And you know, I don't I I don't know yet. I don't know yet how how I'm gonna take it forward, but I feel like there's this space for almost like this mentorship. I don't know, I don't know what it's gonna look like yet, but where it's just such deep level energetic tweaking that everything is just shifted and but in a in a way that I've never I've never worked before and in a way that I don't see many people working. Like I when I I look on Instagram, and obviously because of what I do, I see a lot of Feng Shui. So in my world, everybody's a Feng Shui consultant because that's what Instagram tells me. And it's not really that, it's just that obviously that's what the algorithm shows me because it knows that that's what I'm interested in. But it's yet to show me any evidence that there are people working with clients to the depth that I'm learning about now. So I am just so excited because you know I know what the levels of feng shui that I do know and I do work with right now, I know the power that they hold because I've lived it and it I've breathed it, and it's changed so many things in our in our world and in our life. But this next stage is just just so just so exciting, and you know, it opens up the door for me to be able to work with people on an energetic personal level as well as in their homes and with from month to month and from year to year. It's just so so so exciting, and I can't wait to I just can't wait to share it with everybody when I'm at the point whereby I know what how because what I need to obviously what I need to do at this point is to process all of this learning and work out a way of kind of transferring that into something that can be shared in an easy to understand way.

Rapid Career Pivot Through Energy

SPEAKER_00

You know, we are a group of people doing this training who we've already done three, four months so far and practiced for easily a year, and it still takes this little bit of time to get your head around. So, yes, there we go. That I couldn't put into a social media post, it didn't work, it wouldn't go. I think it was a bit too long that it wasn't 90 seconds, so that's where we're at with it all, and that's why I truly believe in what I do, and I truly believe that it changes changes lives, but not in a flashy way, you know. I am not here, I'm not here for that. I am not here for that, I am not here for only wanting an aesthetic home so that you can keep up with Joneses. I'm not here for that. I want you to have a home that makes you feel like you can go forward in your life and achieve the things that you want to achieve, you know, whilst doing the things that we have to do. That's ultimately what it's about. And I was listening to a different type of training, a completely like different business training the other day, and the presenter was talking about what's the message, what's your overarching message? So, and you know, it makes me think. I love things that make me think, and I was thinking, well, my overarching message isn't how to teach people how to feng shui their homes, is it? That's not my overarching overarching message. My overarching message is I want women, in particular mothers, to feel better in their own home, in their lives, and feel like they're able to reach their goals and reach their potential whilst they juggle all the things that modern day life throws at them. That's my message, and I just can't wait. I'm just so excited to see like how this all transpires and things. So, yes, that's all very exciting, and we've got lots of I've got lots of podcast guests lined up over the coming weeks and months. So I'm going to put them in, I'm not going to put them in back to back. What I think I would do is probably load those ones whilst I am off for Easter break with my children, um, which will be over the beginning of April. So I have got I've got a colour energy expert coming on, which I'm so excited about. I have got a crystal expert coming on, which I'm even more excited about. I have got a NLP coach to come and talk about our like the element of Feng Shui that is man luck, so our own personal kind of attitude and energy that we bring to the table that affects our home. So I'm going to be talking to her, and I'm hoping to set up a podcast with an incredible astrologer that is here just to blow everybody's minds. So, yes, lots and lots

Calling In Helpful People

SPEAKER_00

of exciting things like in the pipeline, and this is you know, this is the joy. This is the joy of the early stages of business ownership because you know, we've only just had I say we as if me and my business are like this collective, but my business has just had its first birthday, and to think that it is what it is already within this first year, it just you know, it truly blows my mind. So I am wildly and wonderfully grateful to each and every one of you who who you know support me and listen and are interested in what I'm talking about because the more that we can get this out into the world, the more that we can share this kind of woo-woo but non-woo-woo practice that is so scientific-based. You know, you can talk to Einstein or Tesla about energy and they'll tell you everything that you need to know. So, yeah, I am so grateful to each and every one of you. And until next week, I do hope that wherever you are in the world that you are happy, healthy, and well, and I will speak to you really, really soon.
