How to work with Feng SHui and Visualisation to acheive real results
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What if the fastest way to change your life is to rehearse it, not in a perfect “vision board” way, but in a simple, human, day-to-day way? Today I’m bringing Feng Shui back to the one piece most of us forget: the self. Because yes, your home’s energy matters, but the way you show up inside that home matters too.
I talk through visualisation as a practical skill, not a performance. Your brain and body respond to imagined experience as if it’s real, which is why mental rehearsal can build calm, confidence, and clarity before you ever take the next step. I talk about the importance of keeping visualisation light and playful, how to avoid overwhelming “big dream” thinking, and why focusing on the next believable step creates better energetic alignment than forcing a giant leap.
I connect it to the Bagua and the nine areas of the home, using the south area as a clear example. April is the month of visibility, and in Feng Shui, the south relates to visibility, fame, and reputation, not always red carpet fame, but what people know you for and how your name lands when you’re not in the room.
If you care about mindset, law of attraction, home energy alignment, and building a reputation that feels true, this will give you a grounded place to start.
Lots of love,
Speak soon,

Welcome And A New Focus
SPEAKER_00Welcome to the Everyday Feng Shui podcast. I'm Rachel and I'm a modern day Feng Shui consultant and I'm here to show you how to use the energy of your home and your own personal energy to create a life that you absolutely love. So let's jump right in. Hello and welcome back to the Everyday Feng Shui podcast. So today I want to continue my theme of the I don't know what's going to say month, but you know, of this sort of period of time where I'm talking about the impact that we can have and the impact of the self on on what's showing up in our life because you know for the last year I have spoken almost entirely about the impact of your home on your on your of on your life and how we can use the home to begin aligning a life that we want to sort of bring in. But something that I think is really really important as I touched on last week is the importance of the self and the importance of our own energy when it comes to aligning our life with what it is that we want to bring in. Now, where this gets super super powerful is when we combine the nine areas of our home with the bagwa. If you have had your home analysed with either a home energy alignment from myself or a home energy blueprint, you will know what the what the areas of your home are and which area looks after which life area. If you haven't done that and it's something that you're interested in, then you can download my free guide. And if you have got a relatively straightforward floor plan, it is something that you can probably do yourself. If you've got a sort of basic rectangular home, you can probably give it a go yourself. So the link for that is in the show notes. So just take a look at that if you if you don't know what I'm talking about with the nine areas.
Why Visualisation Works
SPEAKER_00So yeah, we're gonna have a look at how we can work with the nine areas and the self. And today is going to be about visualization. Now, when you talk about visualization, often people think about incredible sports, men and women, you you know, F1 drivers, they are incredible visualizers. Michael Phelps, the incredible Olympian. I heard a story about Michael Phelps actually. So my daughter is a swimmer, so I have a keen interest in swimming anyway. But I heard a story about Michael Phelps, and at one of the Olympic Games, I don't remember which one, he was in the final for the 200-meter fly. Now, anybody that knows swimming, the 200-meter fly is I mean, that's the race that you know the god of gods swim. That it's hard, that it's intense. And apparently, Michael Phelps dived in so Michael Phelps, as part of his swim training, does a huge amount of visualization. So he basically will race the race in all different circumstances through all different types of events, you know, all the things that could go well, all the things that could go badly. So every eventuality he's raced it in his mind before he's even got in the water. And I love that as an approach. And it is said that he dived in on the actual final, and by the by the time he got to the first turn, his goggles were filled with water, and he basically was swimming blind, and that he didn't panic because he'd visualised this, you know, and what he would do in those situations, and he just went into sort of autopilot and embodied that version that had practiced it, and he went on to win, and he went on to win, he went on to win, and he went on to break the world record, apparently. Now, I've not actually checked whether or not this is true. I don't know. I've noticed this is just something that I heard, but for me, that pretty much embodies what visualization is all about. But that is one of the experiences that you may have heard of visualization in in sports people. And the other thing is that people think it's quite wild and wacky and just a bit too woo for them. You know, you need to have have immense concentration and you know that it's quite a deep practice, and it can be, and it's really powerful when it is a deep practice, but also, you know, I think we have to there's so many things I think that we don't have a go at, not you know, in in in all areas of life, because we think that it has to be done in a certain way. So there's no point because there's no point because I can't do it fully, I can't do it properly, I can't do this, that, and the other. Now, my argument with visualization is the more time that you can spend in the place that you want to be mentally, the faster you're going to get there.
Keep It Light And Playful
SPEAKER_00Now, when we look at the fact that it is proven that the body doesn't know whether what's true, it doesn't know whether what you are thinking is true or whether, or the brain doesn't know, should I say, it doesn't know whether what you're thinking is true or whether what you're what you're actually experiencing is true. So, you know, it's the same way as if I were to say to you now, imagine you're eating a lemon, you'd probably get an influx of saliva because your body is responding to what it thinks is real because you've imagined the lemon. So, and it's the same reaction, it's the same thing. And if that concept of thinking about a lemon was somehow magical, and I said to you, Well, if you think about a lemon and you'll get this physical reaction to that, um, and then you know, all of these wonderful things will happen. And you were to say to me, Yeah, but what kind of lemon? Does it have to be a big lemon? Does it have to be a small lemon? Is the lemon cut or is it sliced or is it quartered? You know, and you might end up getting to the point where you go, Well, I just won't think about the lemon because I don't know if I'm going to do it right. You wouldn't, you'd just think about a lemon because there's because it's because it's easy, because it's give or take, because there's nothing tied to it for you. And that makes it light, and therefore that's what makes it effective. And this is what I talk about where we just need to be playful, we just need to be playful and have fun with this kind of approach to energy. Because, you know, people like me, we talk about it, and it it is serious because obviously energy is really, really powerful, but it doesn't have to be heavy, it's allowed to be playful, it's allowed to be light, and that is, in my opinion, where where the true power of it all is. So, what I'm saying is that visualization doesn't have to be this wildly deep practice, it's allowed to be just daydreaming, it's allowed to be, you know, and we're just coming into the the brighter months here in the northern hemisphere in the UK and the sun is shining, and it's allowed to be as light as sitting outside with the sun on your face for a minute or two daydreaming about what life would feel like when you have got the life aligned that you want to live. And I know, you know, if I take myself back a few years and if somebody had asked me to do this as a practice, I think I would have felt so hugely overwhelmed with there's so many things about my day-to-day world that I want to change, that the concept of daydreaming about it as a whole feels really difficult, really out of reach, and really energetically unaligned. Like, you know, there's something to be said about setting goals that are just a tiny bit out of your comfort zone rather than dreaming about the huge, great big picture, and that feeling and that and that bringing up feelings of, well, that's never gonna happen. That's not you know a helpful feeling when it comes to visualization. So, what we want to be doing is you know, leaning into those things that feel a little bit out of reach, but also within the realms of possibility and almost breaking down into steps, you know, in in working towards achieving this bigger goal. And that's certainly what I do, that's how I currently work, is I'm just going for the next thing. I'm not going for the bigger picture right now, I'm going for the next thing that feels ever so slightly uncomfortable, but also not hugely outside the realms of possibility. And I think that's a really lovely way of doing it. And the other way that we can break down visualization, maybe you're somebody who does feel so overwhelmed by all of the things that they want to kind of shift and change in their world, or maybe you're somebody who really struggles with visualization. I'm a very like visual person, and I can create a reality in my mind about most things, which is both a blessing and a curse. If you are somebody who is, you know, very visual and you hear an awful story, you can almost play it in your in your mind, and that's that's not a positive thing. But there are so many people. In fact, we were there was something that I read not that long ago, and I ended up having a conversation with many people about it, actually. My father included, my own dad, and we were talking about it. It was about when somebody reads you a story, or you are reading a story, do you play the story as a movie in your mind, or are you just listening to the words? And I'm somebody who sees it, I see the story in my mind, and it blew my mind that there were people who just listened to the words because I can't imagine what I can't, I just can't imagine that. But if you are somebody who maybe isn't as visual and therefore doesn't access kind of the ability to be able to see things in your mind's eye as easily, what I'm going to share with you next is a great, a great practice, as well as, you know, only only dreaming about the the just out of, you know, just outside of your current reality next step that feels slightly uncomfortable but not hugely outside of the realms of possibility.
Link Visualisation To The Bagua
SPEAKER_00The other thing is that we can break it down into the areas of a home. And that's where we link the outrageous power of your home, the energetic power of your home, with the power of the self. So given that as I'm recording this, we are coming towards the end of April, I'm going to talk about, I'm going to talk about April. And April in 2026 is all about visibility. So, because of that, we are going to concentrate on the south area of the home. So today's example is going to be the south area of the home and how we can tap into using that south area and that life area of visibility and fame and reputation.
The Real Meaning Of Reputation
SPEAKER_00And again, just a reminder that when we talk about fame in relation to the south area of the home, we are not necessarily talking about red carpet fame. We are not with that, it doesn't have to be what fame means. The south area of the home is more to do with who are you known as? What are you known for? What is your reputation? How do people speak about you when you aren't there? What do people think when they hear your name? So that's the that's the fame that we talk about in relation to the south area of the home. And it can extend, obviously, into fame and visibility on a grander scale, but it but it is more based on you know the who the who you are and who you are known to be. Now, when we break down our visualizations into those nine areas, it becomes just a little bit more of an achievable task, I
A Simple South Area Practice
SPEAKER_00think. So the first part of this exercise is going to be working out and really leaning into who you want to be known as, what you want to be known for, the reputation that you hold, and also how do those things feel to you. That is the most important bit. That is the the magic part of this whole visualization. So you need to really have a very clear picture. You don't have to have a clear picture of how, you don't have to have a clear picture of any of the things that actually bring it to you. You just need to have a really clear picture of who you want to be known as being and how that feels to you, and that is where it's really, really, really powerful. And we don't have to lean into any very specific practices here either. You know, it is just a case of allowing yourself to daydream. Now, visualization is infinitely easier when you have got some quiet space and time. Certainly for me, I can't really have any external interruptions, I can't really have music playing, for example, but everybody's different, you know. So if you have got the ability, you don't have to be laying down, right? You can you can sit, you can, you can just take a minute, you can be in the shower. I mean, that's an amazing place to to do visualizations if you struggle to find find a minute is when you're brushing your teeth. Brushing your teeth is such a powerful time, especially if you can have it stack, if you can have it stack a visualization onto brushing your teeth every day, then you know you you're on to a winner, onto an absolute winner. So, what you need to be doing when you allow yourself this playful visualization, you've got clear on what it is or who it is you want to be known as, and you've got clear on how it would feel if you knew that that is the reputation that you held. How would that feel to you? And then you just allow yourself to daydream. You don't have to daydream about you know a specific sequence of events. What I want you to do is lean into the feeling, so really feel you can imagine yourself if you want to, hearing people talking about you. Imagine that you're overhearing somebody talking about you to somebody else and the warm glow that that gives you on your insides.
My Own Visibility Visualisation
SPEAKER_00If you are looking to, you know, myself for an example. I'll share what my kind of thoughts are at the moment. This year for me is all about trying to put myself out there a little bit more. So, in terms of my own kind of visualizations for the fame and reputation area of my life, I am looking at making sure that I am trusted. I want people to be talking about me as somebody who is real, who is authentic, and who they trust. And then I do want to start talking on a bigger stage, in a bigger forum. I want to be heard this year, and this is the first time that I'm verbalising, and it's really interesting as I'm saying it because I can actually hear in my voice that my voice is wobbling when I say it, and it's such an energetic kind of exchange, and it's it's almost like you know, this version of yourself that's trying to hold back and protect you, and this is the importance of playing it over and over in your mind. So, my visualization, for example, and actually, I was speaking to somebody just this morning about my mold of eye crystal, and how for me, I truly believe that my mold of eye crystal gave me my voice. I got my mold of eight crystal, I started this podcast pretty much the same week, and everything and everything has obviously changed because of it. But it for me, my mold of either is still with me because it's still got a job to do, because I still want to get my name out there more, I want to appear on different podcasts, more podcasts, I want to appear on stages, I even want to have a chance at speaking on TV or radio, and this is where we talk about so. Yes, they're career-based things, but for me, that's where I'm leaning into this fame and reputation because I want people to be able to see me as somebody who is real and trustworthy and authentic, but also who has this bigger voice. That's what I want. I want to make people feel safe, I want me to make people feel seen, and I want to make people feel hopeful. And when I really lean into how would it feel to know that there were so many people who were saying incredible things, and I had this really great global reputation, then you know how does that make me feel? It makes me feel so proud, but it also makes me feel so joyful because it means that my message is spreading and what I'm talking about is spreading, and more and more people can have access to this way of living that I truly, truly believe is life-changing. And when I, you know, I was just recording something this morning actually, and I was talking about what does life-changing really mean? You know, when somebody says about something being life-changing, you are talking quite often, quite often, certainly in the world of Instagram, you're talking about have you got a private jet or a yacht or a jet ski, you know, any of that kind of stuff. And for me, lovely, but I'm not here for that. I am not here for that. Life-changing for me is stuff more often than not that sits that's completely invisible to other people. It is a complete shift in the way that you feel about yourself, it is a complete shift in the way that your day-to-day runs, it is a complete change of all of these very subtle undertones of how you move through your life. Not everything that is life-changing. Don't get me wrong, a jet a jet and a yacht and a jet ski, lovely, life-changing. Moving countries, life-changing. But actually, what's gonna have the biggest fundamental impact? I could own a yacht and still find my day-to-day life unbearable and difficult. That's not what any of us want, is it? What we want is a life that feels joyful and a life that feels easy, and a life that feels in flow, and a life whereby, you know, we're always going to come up against these hurdles, but a life that feels where a version that, you know, we can manage that and we can navigate that, and we have people around us to help us through things. That's what is truly life-changing, not the big stuff that we are constantly told that is that we're meant to want, and that is what I'm here for. And so for me, the feeling that I lean into when I visualize this fame and reputation kind of aspect of my life. Who do I want to be known to be? How do I want people to speak about me? Who what do I want to be known for? All of this stuff, you know, that's the feeling that I lean into. What does it feel like to have made such a difference to so many people's lives? That's what I lean into. So, you know, that's I've gone off on a tangent there, obviously, slightly talking about my own kind of world, but I think it gives you a great example of the realities of working with the with visualization, with these kind of aspects of man luck.
Man Luck Earth Luck Together
SPEAKER_00And again, it's taking you back a few weeks when we look at how the man luck and feng shui make up proportionately of our existence. We've got our heaven luck, our man luck, and our earth luck. Our heaven luck is what we're born with. It's you know, there's not much that we can do to change our heaven luck, but our man luck that's who we are, that's how we show up, who we choose to be, and our earth luck is the environment that we that we put ourselves into. Now, granted, there are aspects of earth luck that we cannot change, but I'm presuming that if you are listening to this, you know, that you are probably in a position whereby you have some reasonable level of control. And I'm not talking about going and buying new houses, that's not the point of it at all. It's about making the best of the situation and the circumstances that you are in, and how powerful that is, and it is aligning that reality to be a mirror for what it is that you are looking to call into your life and the future that you want for yourselves, and the two things side by side are just so so hugely powerful, and you know, it's what I've seen time and time again in my own life and in my clients' lives is that when the two things go together, one will work independently of the other, like Feng Shui will work even if you don't change your attitude. Things like the law of attraction will work if you don't change anything about your environment, but you change the two things, well, then you're looking at what would you know 66% because let's just break it into thirds. Let's break the 100% of life into the earth luck, the man luck, and the heaven luck. Well, we can't change the heaven luck, so that's a reasonable chunk. But then we've got the man luck. Let's if let's just say for ease of Mass that it is a straight down the middle split. So you're looking at if you've got the man luck and the earth luck that you can that you can move with and that you can have some influence over, you are looking at shifting 66.666666 whatever percent of your life. And that is a fairly hefty chunk. That is a fairly hefty chunk of your reality that you have direct control over. So this is why for me I'm so passionate about working with the two together, because each of them on their own, they will work. Of course they will, of course they will, because it's still 33%, right? It's still gonna shift. And you might naturally have good man luck, you might naturally show up in the world as quite a positive person. You might naturally have a home that's got good feng shui, good energy tones underneath it, and and that's great. But when you really, really lean into working with the two things together, it's so so so
Questions To Leave You With
SPEAKER_00powerful. So that's where I'm gonna leave you today. Just with the invitation to think about this fame and reputation area of your life. How do you want people to talk about you? Who do you want to be known as? What do you want to be remembered for? What do you want to stand for? All of those sorts of things. And then the most powerful bit, how does that make you feel? If people were talking about you in that way, if people remembered you in that way, if people spoke your name and felt a certain way, how would that make you feel? And that's where I want you to lean into every time you brush your teeth if you need to. And that's where I'm gonna leave you today. I hope that wherever you are in the world you are happy, healthy, and well, and I will speak to you really, really easy.
