Kat's a Match, Yet Another Kidnapping, Hope Gets More Than She Wants and Willow vs. Tracy

Hello, welcome back soap fans to another episode of Lather Up with La. In the news today, even though we weren't super fans of the Young and Restless Beyond the Gates crossover, it did well, did it not?

Chanelle  (00:13)
And Chanelle.

It really did. Now it's been quite some time since we've given Nielsen knowledge, but I had to shout this out because the Young and the Restless Beyond the Gates crossover gave Beyond the Gates its third best week of ratings ever. It averaged about 1.8 million viewers throughout the week, which was up from 11% the same time in that season to date. So again, it it worked on that regard, but

I am still shocked about the storylines that progressed from it. And it also gave Young the Restless an uptick, even though Young and the Restless really did not do the heavy lifting before the crossover.

Well, I'm glad it received the accolades, even though, like we said, it had its shortcomings, but apparently it did pay off. So that's good to know. Also in the news for General Hospital fans, we got Fanola Hughes, the heroine, Anna Devane, finally returning to Port Charles. Expect to see her on Wednesday, June 24th.

Yes, I mean, I'm not gonna lie, I feel like she the only one that keeps the law in line. let's start off in the DMV where there is a medical crisis on Beyond the Gates.

I have to shout out Colby Nixon because Colby, aka Kat Richardson, did her big one, carried it on her back this entire week because Eva needed a liver. Not even a kidney, a liver. And the only one who could save her was Kat, apparently.

But it shouldn't have been. First off, I feel like it took way too long to convince her to do this. I am not good with guilt as a person. I can't handle it. So if you're telling me that a woman I hate but is part of my family, is dying if I don't

participate in at least giving blood to see if I'm a match. I can't live with that. And Kat, contrary to her haters, has a heart. she's apparently very petrified of medical issues, despite having two doctors in her life. She didn't want to find out whether she would had the BRCA. She does not

deal with medical issues regarding herself well. She has a phobia. And when she found out that Eva was in need of a liver transplant, she did her darndest to try to find somebody else who could qualify. But what we were missing, not we, the writers, Leslie has a clinic, an actual clinic.

So why didn't you utilize those sources to try to find a donor for your daughter? You also have Joey Armstrong, who is the brother, Unbeknowst to anybody but the viewers, to the impaler. If they had gone to Joey, I know they don't want to owe him nothing, but times was hard and Eva was apparently on the cusp of death.

They gave her till sunrise, apparently, her condition was so bad. So in these trying times and the fact that Leslie checked to see if she was a match, and Ted and Martin and Smitty and Izaiah, all these people in their circle tried and failed as a match for Eva. We gotta do what we gotta do. So we're contacting Joey, who's part of the clinic.

And seeing if he can work his magic, most likely he would have gone to his sister Heather, who unfortunately is going back to London. Don't show me the impaler and then send her away. I'm very disappointed in that. She better come back. But if he had been able to contact Heather, she obviously has a hand in medical stuff being a plasma, you know, thief.

Yes,

so if she can find plasma, she can find a liver. But we didn't do that. We harped on Kat and made her feel bad. Martin fussed at her. Izaiah called her selfish. Her father is like, do it for me. And finally, Gran was the voice of reason. Like I was thinking, if you can live with the fact that you are not doing anything to help Eva and she dies, then go with it.

It's a rare breed that can deal with that kind of guilt. And Gran knew it. She just had to hear it be said. She decided to get tested. She was a match, and she decided to go with the surgery. Now, as soon as she said yes, or as soon as it was most likely that she was gonna be a match in my mind, I want her to suffer a medical issue.

Either on the table or after the fact. So if she almost dies saving the bastard child of Ted and Leslie, I want Martin to feel like crap. I want Izaiah to feel bad. And I want her father to feel bad. Because they were on her like white on rice. Do the right thing, be a good person. What kind of woman are you? I'm like, okay, now if she almost dies saving this child's life, what you gonna do now?

true. It really was Attack Kat Week. And I understand that it was supposed to be a high stakes issue. But the way that Martin as her big brother flipped out on her, and he's done this before. I don't know how the writers have in their writing room his character assessment written down as. But he is really not a great big brother. He's talked crap about her with Eva.

He has told her before that she's selfish and the miracle child and the spoiled one. I feel like he has a lot of resentment built up towards Kat and this maybe because she's the miracle child thing, that when she doesn't fall in line with what he believes or he feels like she has been slighted in some way, like he felt with Samantha in the sex talk, he goes off. More than just anger. Like it is something from the pits of his soul.

And Kat really didn't deserve it. The fact that she even went to the hospital to sit, vigil, and wait to hear about Eva was more than some people would have done. And again, she is a good person. Across the gambit, when they're like, she's a spoiled brat, she's entitled. when we were first introduced to Kat, she was one of the most

Say benevolent because she got the award for helping out. She was there for the organizations with Grand. She gave back, and even as a debutante, did things. It's just with this one Achilles heel and the sore spot of a sister who she knew from the beginning was doing wrong. That's the only one that she's really been mean to. I really am trying to think long and hard about.

If she kind of attacked or came sideways to anybody else. And it's really hard for me to think on that level. So with all these men ganging up on her and being like, You better do this. You know, you can't be this selfish. And it's like, again, you all are not understanding who she's doing it for. And when it came to her being in the hospital bed, she told her dad, I'm not doing this for Eva.

Sure enough not doing this for Leslie. I'm doing this for you. And the only one who truly was in her corner outside of Gran being like, if you could handle the guilt, surprisingly, was Nicole. Her mom actually came through in the time of need because even once she got the blood test and they were like, ooh, it hasn't come back yet. We need to check. Maybe we need to call a Kat. I can't believe she left the hospital. And Nicole was like her body, her choice. Like let her live. The fact that she

even got the testing is one thing. She still hasn't agreed to it. Let her make her decision for herself. And eventually she made the decision which they probably feel is right, but there is gonna have to be some sort of complication. And they need to feel bad. They really do.

Also feeling bad. Dani. Dani is so upset with her behavior in that elevator with Bill and Bill being Bill Hamilton. You know, we still got passion. What can I say? I can't help it if I can't turn my feelings off. And Dani had an excellent point. It's been two years, my guy. We have supposedly moved on. You threw me away like I was nothing. You told me in no uncertain terms.

That initially the writers were going to try to have Bill and Dani get back together at the end of season one. That's the rumor that's swirling. But they did not anticipate the love that we have for Dani and Andre. And the way that they've written him compared to his uncle tends across the board now that he has gotten Ashley out of his system. So when he finally finds out what went down with the love in the elevator.

It's going to be heartbreaking. And I know Dani feels bad, but it's like, girl, how do we get to this point? Just because Bill was finally being decent, hey, you gave him too much. You gave him too much. And if it's not from him spilling the beans, it's gonna be every time they see each other, she's giving looks and gritting her teeth and be like, Don't you say nothing? And it's like they're gonna catch on because Hayley's trying to kill the man, and even she's like, Why are you still thinking about?

This storm, like what happened? Because people think he was in the stairwell. And when Hayley starts catching on, so somebody else eventually will. And right now, she's already even told Vanessa. Vanessa was acting out of character, which has basically been in character for her foolishness. But when you tell Vanessa, now you're even giving her a chip, if you will, of if you mess up for something else or if

She wants to bring Joey around some other time. It's like I was there for you when you cheated on Andre. ⁓ This is not the time. Not the time nor the place, but it's gonna get it's gonna get better in the soapy way. But this is gonna eventually be like the telltale heart when it comes to can she keep it together and just love up on her husband past this indiscretion.

do that because everybody knows in the soap world the guilt overtakes them and they don't like the feeling. They can't sit in it. I gotta tell you the truth because it's what's best. But what really it is is I can't handle this anymore. I am too stressed. I am on edge. Like in the preview for this coming week, Andre's like, you haven't slept since the storm.

It must have really taken a toll on you being alone in that elevator. No, that's guilt keeping her up. At this could at this rate, she could end up with shingles, ⁓ hair falling out, like the stress could just take her to a new level. And like you said, you told Vanessa, don't let the wrong day hit her at the wrong time and she just spills the beans. You needed to tell nobody. The only people who needed to know were the people involved.

And all of a sudden, it's like, ⁓ who again, Portia, I'm just tired of Portia keeping her legs open.

But yeah, I and again, Beyond the Gates, it it gave a lot when it came to the emotional roller coaster element. It was just a lot of Eva for this week and and the propping up of Eva and Leslie.

I know we had a few of the outskirts, Dani and Bill, Hayley and Bill, they can't get back in their house yet because a tree fell in the driveway. I will say the one kind of comeuffance that Leslie got was the shouse is no more thanks to the tornado and Mother Nature. It took out the construction that was on pause, which was like, yay us. ⁓ but for everything else that's going on, it was like sidestep this week. ⁓ I will say it was a little strange through all of the.

People coming together, the ones I wasn't expecting. Carlton, I I guess he had to deal with the medical emergencies. But Dr. Kial sure enough, showed up for Nicole and even had a nice little sleepover while her grandchildren were over her house. And when she woke up the next day, she was like, Shh, you know, we gotta still be quiet for the the kids. You need to get out. He's like, your grandkids? I saw them this morning when I was making breakfast. They're already gone. They they left you a note. And I'm like, Nicole, if if

You you if you're gonna creep, you gotta at least do it a little bit better to understand the the dynamics of this. You know, you he should have stayed in bed and not made your breakfast if you didn't want him seen because now he has a few more brownie points above Carlton, who called her to the hospital on behalf of Ted because of what was going on with Eva. They had her out of the loop.

And he didn't check on her earlier, like Kial FaceTime her. I need to see your face. When I heard about the storm, I freaked out.

It can I come over? Would it be okay if I just come? I just need to see you in person. And you know, she's beside herself. She cries in his arms, and he's like, Can I spend the night? Not to spend the night, but I just want to be here until you fall asleep. Can I hold you in my arms? I was like, let me hold you tight. I was like, yo, I was like, just put some Luther on. What we do?

And he did, and she was like, I have never felt so safe since Ted. And she did mention, she was like, in this time of crisis, I would have been dealing with this with Ted, but I feel fine because I'm dealing with it with you. And I'm like, okay, Dr. Kial, you're looking, you're looking good. You're looking really good in this competition.

He really had some extra brownie points with that. And again, if it wasn't worrying about Eva, it was Kat. Tomas, I I know he definitely rubbed you the wrong way, but I'll I'll give him a few points of being there with Kat. And he was the one who rescued her the first time when they were trying to tell her, take the blood test. You should-that's the least you can do. And he rescued her from the hospital. ⁓

know that more and I'll give a shout out even to Chelsea because I I think they forget that you've given us Madison as her fiance and she doesn't get her interact with the family, wasn't even at the campaign dinner, but we saw a brief kiss during Pride Month of her being like, Baby, how are you? ⁓ okay. ⁓ she worked on Martin, she did a few interactions. But don't don't forget Madison and even her mama drama. Like I I still wanna keep her around and

have Chelsea have a storyline, but right now, again, Kat, Colby, you did a lot of the heavy lifting this week.

Most definitely. And honestly, when Chelsea said, I know exactly who Kat needed to talk to, I thought she was gonna take it to Madison. It didn't even occur to me that she was gonna take it to her mom.

Chanelle  (19:17)
Yeah, that's a good point. Well, because sometimes Ted Nicole they be lacking as parents when it comes to Kat. I I always say it's funny to me that the way that they interact with her and sometimes when they call her spoiled or selfish, it's like she has a reason to still be upset. Yo, anniversary that became a disastrous party was just last year. Give us some time. She hasn't been to therapy.

She never took any medication for. She's been living and stewing in those feelings. So again, at least the fact that they did have that bonding mother-daughter moment was nice to see. I still want writers to remember the family aspect and the prominence and power, all of that aside, to just the nitty-gritty. At the end of the day, we come together, is what I love about the Duprees and how they handle business.

All right, let's go to the rage of young and restless. We done said it so many times and just keep going unheard. Stop kidnapping people in Genoa City. Why is that your go-to? This past week we learned that coming from Maryland after a tornado.

Playing the part for Kyle's sake in Maryland with Jack and her son. Somehow, landing back in Wisconsin, she was taken by Patty and her doctor friend and put in a random home, which suspiciously looked like the same home that Jordan had the Newman's in about a year and a half ago, but a set is a set of a set.

I it's just one of those things where when all else fails, you're like, I know we'll do we'll kidnap them. And not only did she get kidnapped, but it happened off-screen. So we have to be like, How did I get here? You didn't even give me a flashback, my guy. Like, how did you get from the airport in Wisconsin to all of a sudden in this random house?

A house that Patty at least has already gotten a picture of her sleeping in a bed because she showed Jack that picture. And all of a sudden we are introduced to another new character who randomly pops up to cause mischief with Patty. I was almost rooting for Patty when she was kind of liking Matt Clark. Now it's another 180 where it's like, no, no, Jack is my destiny. And not only is she kidnapping Diane because she's

allegedly had a breakdown, which she did not. You can't gaslight me, Patty and Mr. Doctor Man. Then she gets Jack to kick out everybody at the Abbott House.

Was like, what in the writing room mischief was this? So not only did she kidnap her, and Jack is the worst about we're gonna handle it ourselves. If you all do not at this point, lock up Patty. Go on and keep her tied up somewhere because you know she took Diane. But no, what he does is I'm gonna give her what she wants. I'm gonna let her have all of this.

And a part of having all of this, she wants to have all of the Abbott estate. So Billy, okay. Tracy, all right. Kyle, okay. And like you said, poor little Harrison, y'all gotta get the stepping. Out, out, damn spots. Y'all gots to go. And everyone is like, what?

I'm like, What well how did we get here? I thought people had someone tracking Patty. Tracy's at least said she was looking at her medical records and was like, Okay, this is where she's been up to and I just wonder, all of this is happening in Genoa City? Are we on the outskirts of town?

Is Patty getting daily updates? Is there a ring camera involved? Like how did this become like an epic proportions of Diane being kidnapped and the only way to figure it out is to let Patty run rampant.

I foresee in the coming weeks the black and white flashbacks. You know they love those. So then it's gonna come into focus. How she was taken, why she was taken, how she didn't realize what was happening. They love to use that for the storytelling now. I don't know when they got that feature. It happened last year, but we gonna I feel a lot of black and white flashbacks coming in our future.

And and with that, I'm like, what was the reason? Give me a car to be. What was the reason? Because we could have had this storyline of Jack trying to win Diane back, not just a random kidnapping. And it's been 48 hours. Get Genoa City police on this. Like, what are we doing? Josh. Again, I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed. And I was rooting for you. We were all rooting for you. I was rooting for the storyline.

We don't know because Josh is worried more about the kidnappings. And I just want them to understand even with Victor, we get it. As viewers, we realize that Victor Newman just will never lose. He always has to win. But at least let me in on the plan because you got your company back. You can sit up there all you want. What do you need Cane for? And if and if you still want to get your get back just because he put all of this in motion?

At least have a plan. I'd rather at this point you waterboard him versus having like at least because then at least it's like okay, you you rough him up a little bit and and you get your get back. Okay. Not Matt Clark, who's got some of his memory back, but realizes he doesn't want to be the evil person, but you want him to befriend Cane. Cane who already is like, what does Victor new more? He he laid it out. What does Victor really want? Couldn't tell him.

The only one who kind of ended this whole ordeal without getting what they wanted or anything back aside from Nikki is Adam and Chelsea, who while everybody else is like, we're back and things are going to be running as usual. Like, we didn't get Newman Media back. ⁓ because Phyllis sold it to Spectra Charles. So now what do we do?

I don't know, Chelsea. Maybe somebody will give you a job. The job that she already had? Adam judgment.

For them to have scenes together, I need you to also go to the writing, but are they supposed to be in game? And if they're supposed to be in game, they are some of the boringest couples. And I don't know why, because they they used to be fun. You have two former con artists who just don't give it. I don't know why.

Nikki is blind. She is going blind. And I'm very concerned that she's behind the wheel at any time. She keeps having the headaches. You have MS Miss. The whole, I took some aspirin. We've passed that point. You've had a headache for almost a month. You need a medical professional. And the fact that your daughter Victoria had to blackmail you and is like, either I'm gonna hog tie you and take you to the doctor tomorrow, or you're coming when I come to get you.

Okay. Every time this woman stands up, She weebles and wobbles. Hasn't falled down yet, but it's close. And her vision is tunneling further and further to the point where she can barely see a dot. She gonna be blind this coming week, you watch.

Curtis convinced that Isaiah tried to leave him and Jordan to die after their car accident. Portia completely convinced that Isaiah is in the right. Curtis is in the wrong. He was a crappy father. She should have never even introduced Trina to him. And he would suck as a father for this new child.

Yeah, and it's just too much. So in the process of her deciding to cut them out and just live her best life, they are deciding at Portia's house that we've been doing too much. Trina shouldn't have to burden our crazy. We gotta do better. Really hope she follows through because again, when when Gio, just your you know, friend looking out and in at the situation, can even tell you, be like, you know, growing up, I didn't know Brook Lynn was my mom, but we've gotten to a better place. But she was going to risk her like music career that she says she wants because her family had the issues, because your daddy and his anger issues might land him.

In jail, and you were really willing to mess up what could have been a future that is bright and goes beyond anything else you need because of their issues. And even for Curtis to pop up at Portia's house, because remember, he gave it to her. I would have like, Let's meet somewhere neutral. I don't need that bad energy, stinking up my doorway. what are you doing? And then the first thing he says, even before they come to this agreement, was where's my chair?

She was like the chair you left after you gave me this home. I thought you didn't want it. You didn't take it with you. Yeah, like ⁓ like ⁓ my my thing is you should have told her if that was gonna be your rocking chair for the baby or something. Like, what? That's like men in chairs. If it wasn't Derek On Beyond the Gates with that ugly chair, it's like take that with you when you leave. But

And you're sending Valentin away to hopefully tell them the truth and maybe pick up Anna along the way. But you have Cullum circling because after Valentin up, just moments after.

You have Cullum show up at Carly's house and being like, We know you're harboring a fugitive. And she's like, We me and Charlotte were making cookies. Like, we what? What's going on? But Cullum is on your trail. you have to worry about not only him looking at you, you still know that Joss is over there at Wyndemere I ⁓

It's a lot going on and all of this is happening. And I I just don't know where we go from here. I just don't know. I mean, even with Jordan and and Laura's situation. Laura telling Jordan that she did what no, you didn't. Because she was like, I'm so sorry I couldn't help you with all the Sidwell stuff. All of what was going on at at what you've been cashing checks and and getting penthouses, sis because you could have been at least one of the ones walking in on him and Joss. Him and Lucas.
