Closure in Michigan? Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office Makes Arrest in Linda Meteer Unsolved Murder
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday, Feb. 18, that a man has been arrested in connection with a cold case from 1989.
On the afternoon of Thursday, April 27, 1989, the body of a woman was found in Hoosier Valley. She was soon identified as Linda Marie Meteer, 41, from the Traverse City area, a mother of five.
In response, a task force was formed, including officers from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, Traverse City Police Department, and Michigan State Police, to investigate the homicide. Despite years of effort, the task force was unable to identify or charge a suspect.
The Sheriff’s Office has continued to investigate the case over the years.
On Feb. 18, the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in connection with Meteer’s death. A 63-year-old man from Leelanau County was arrested for open murder in relation to the 1989 case.
