Amy Gellert - Part 2 - The Cocoa Beach Unsolved Murder - The Suspects

Beth

On March 20, 1994, a brutal assault shattered the peace of a Cocoa Beach, Florida neighborhood. Amy Gellert, 21, had just returned from church and was pulling into the driveway of her family's home when terror struck. As she exited her car, her stepfather, Bob Lehton, ran from the house, drenched in blood. Hot on his heels was an assailant in a black ski mask, wielding both a dagger and a gun.

The attacker had already inflicted severe injuries on both Lehton and Gellert's mother, Bunny, before turning his attention to Amy, slashing her before fleeing the scene. Gellert managed to stumble to a nearby apartment complex parking lot before succumbing to her injuries.

Despite the assailant fleeing with cash and credit cards, he left behind minimal evidence, including a magazine from his pistol, which detectives linked to a prop gun used in theater and film. Additionally, police obtained a partial sketch of the ornate-hilted dagger described by Amy’s parents.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Brevard County Sheriff's Office at 321-633-8413.
