đź’¬ Reflection:
What part of today’s meditation spoke most deeply to your heart? Share your thoughts - we’d love to hear from you.
Hello, and welcome to Selah.
I invite you to find a quiet spot, free from distractions, where you can fully focus on God’s presence.
As we move through this meditation, engage your heart and mind—visualize the scriptures, let the words take root in your soul, and repeat the prayers.
Today, we’re reflecting on 1 Thessalonians 5:18:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Gratitude doesn’t always come naturally—especially when life feels heavy or uncertain.
But God’s Word invites us to give thanks in all things—not for all things, but in them.
Because even when circumstances change, God’s goodness never does.
Let’s begin.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in…
Hold…
Exhale slowly…
"Quiet my heart, Lord. Help me to be fully present with You.
I rest in the knowledge that You are here,
shaping me, molding me, and completing a good work in me."
I take another breath in…
And as I exhale, I see myself walking through a quiet field.
Sunshine mixed with clouds.
Some areas feel light and warm.
Others, shaded and cool.
This is life.
Moments of joy…
Moments of loss…
Moments of waiting…
Moments of clarity.
And yet, in the middle of it all—
I hear a still, small voice:
“Give thanks in every circumstance.”
I pause.
And I begin to look around.
The clouds… are not punishment.
They are covering.
The wind… is not chaos.
It’s movement.
The quiet… is not absence.
It’s invitation.
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
As I continue walking, I begin to name the good—
Not just what I like, but what God is using.
I thank Him for the light—
and I thank Him for how He carries me through the shadows.
Breathe in…
Gratitude.
Breathe out…
Grumbling.
Breathe in…
His faithfulness.
Breathe out…
My frustration.
"Father, it’s easy to give thanks when everything is going well.
But You call me to give thanks in all circumstances—
because You are present in all things."
"I thank You for what I understand—
and I thank You for what I don’t.
I thank You for the blessings I can see—
and for the ones that are still being revealed."
"Even in hardship, I trust You are at work.
Even in silence, I trust You are near.
Even in waiting, I trust You are good."
I breathe in deeply…
And I feel my heart soften.
Not because everything is perfect—
but because God is present.
Let’s take another deep breath in…
Hold…
And exhale slowly…
Let these truths shape your posture today:
"I choose gratitude, even when I don’t understand."
"I give thanks in all things, because God is in all things."
"My circumstances may shift, but God’s goodness is steady."
"Thankfulness is worship."
Breathe in…
Thank You, God.
Breathe out…
I trust You.
Breathe in…
Praise.
Breathe out…
Pressure.
"Thank You, Lord, for Your unchanging love.
I give You thanks today—not because everything is easy,
but because You are worthy.
In every season, through every trial,
Your goodness remains.
So I will praise You.
I will trust You.
And I will give You thanks."
Until next time, I will stay in Your presence and let hope overflow.
Selah.
