💬 Reflection:
What part of today’s meditation spoke most deeply to your heart? Share your thoughts - we’d love to hear from you.
Hello, and welcome to Selah – a sacred pause in the noise of life.
I invite you to find a quiet spot, free from distractions, where you can fully focus on God’s presence.
As we move through this meditation, engage your heart and mind—visualize the scriptures, let the words take root in your soul, and repeat the prayers.
Today, we’re reflecting on 1 John 3:17:
"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?"
This verse challenges us to live out God’s love in tangible ways.
Love is not only felt—it is shared. God’s love within us compels us to respond to the needs of others, showing compassion through action.
Let’s Begin.
Close your eyes.
Take a slow, deep breath in…
Hold…
Exhale slowly…
"Quiet my heart, Lord. Help me to be fully present with You.
I rest in the knowledge that You are here,
shaping me, molding me, and completing a good work in me."
I imagine myself walking through a busy marketplace.
People pass by, carrying goods, exchanging coins, filling their baskets.
In the midst of the crowd, I notice someone sitting alone on the ground.
Their clothes are worn, their hands are open, and their eyes plead silently for help.
I glance around and see others rushing past—some avoiding eye contact, others too busy to notice.
I hear the words of scripture echo:
"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?"
In that moment, I feel the Spirit stirring within me.
Love is not turning away. Love is not closing my hands. Love moves toward the one in need.
I kneel beside this person, offering not only what I have, but also my presence.
And in that moment, I realize: this is what it means to reflect God’s love—meeting needs with compassion, not just in word, but in deed.
"Father, forgive me for the times I have looked away from need.
Forgive me when I have chosen comfort over compassion.
Your Word reminds me that love must move, that love must act.
Open my eyes to see the needs around me.
Soften my heart so I may respond with generosity.
Use my hands, my resources, and my life to reflect Your love to the world."
Let’s take a deep breath in…
Hold…
Exhale slowly…
Now another deep breath in…
Hold…
Exhale slowly…
Speak these truths over your soul:
"God’s love moves me to compassion."
"I will not close my heart to those in need."
"My hands are open to give."
"My life reflects the love of Christ."
"I am a vessel of generosity and mercy."
"Thank You, Lord, for the reminder that love is not just spoken—it is lived.
Help me to see the needs around me with Your eyes and to respond with Your compassion.
Let my generosity be a reflection of Your endless love and mercy."
Until next time, I will stay in Your presence and let hope overflow.
Selah.
